1981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Helix tumbler / bitcoin mixer founder indicted for money laundering on: February 15, 2020, 04:50:48 PM
There are many opinions about the legality of coin Mixers and I love to compare them with guns.
Just like guns, mixers are just a tool. The one that makes it should not be made liable for what the users do with it.
And though some users use it to launder there money, many others might be doing it as a hobby or just for fun.

The only opinion that matters is that of those who make the laws.

Decentralised options like coinjoin will always likely be fine. It's not as if you can stop them. However we are seeing exchanges starting to get weird about coins that have been through them when they can identify them.

Anything centralised is likely to feel some major heat at some point relatively soon.

All I know is that I've had electrodes implanted in my prostate that intensely stimulate it every time a new case is announced. I'm drenched in sweat and knee deep in some sort of discharge. It started off as sperm maybe but now I think actual fat and muscle mass is squirting out.

I am in hog fucking heaven.
1983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sending Bitcoin safely through snail mail? on: February 15, 2020, 12:50:28 AM
Does it have to remain on the wallet card? Or you could photograph the card and put the pic on a Micro SD card in an encrypted 7zip file.

All they'd need is a password to unlock it which I guess you could nominate over the phone or bury in a txt file on the same card in an exciting espionage-esque manner.
1984  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's transaction fee lowered by 4000% on: February 15, 2020, 12:27:56 AM
Let us wait for a major FOMO before deciding what's what. There is at least some batching and no Bitmain spamming but there is a hard limit that can't be gotten past and no sign of the madness that descended during that period. Fees have spiked violently upwards for brief spurts in recent times and that's a possible harbinger of it only being a matter of time before it gets sporty for long periods again.

Awkward moment when he realise - Extra charge for touching-

That's the impending donkey punch.

They both know the score and have made their peace with it.

1987  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTCs predictions beyond the limits or it might happen... on: February 14, 2020, 08:33:16 PM
These days we have a rich history of silliness to draw on in terms of predictions. The start of 2014 attracted some particularly fruity ones.

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-predictions-2014-pundits-fared

At the start of 2017 I don't remember anyone making a 20 grand call.

My prediction is - MUCH higher than commonly expected or PATHETICALLY lower than expected.
1988  Economy / Economics / Re: Bakkt is done? on: February 14, 2020, 08:18:58 PM
I understand that, no one is asking them to run a charity organisation. Its just too bad that almost every innovation in line with Bitcoin will be more profit oriented than goal oriented.

Do you think miners are doing it for fun? The moment charity or altruism is required to keep it alive is the moment it embarks on its journey into the grave. The entire thing is an incentive loop. The more naked greed it feeds the healthier and more sustainable it is. It might be distasteful to some but it's totally necessary.
1989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anypay’s CEO Says Bitcoin is Worthless For Payment; Disables BTC Payment on: February 14, 2020, 08:06:47 PM
I have never seen anyone ever make use of Bitcoin Cash for making payment or is there is something about Bitcoin Cash that I don’t know about?

Bitpay offers it as an option. There would've been plenty of Bitcoin holders who got it for free who went on a free money spending spree. Who wouldn't? I'm not sure what portion of payment processing Bitpay have but it must still be extremely high.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/02/14/white-house-considering-tax-incentive-for-more-americans-to-buy-stocks.html

'The White House is considering ways to incentivize U.S. households to invest in the stock market. Under the proposal, a portion of income would become tax-free for investment purposes.'

I'll bet they won't let you put it in anything fun.
1991  Economy / Economics / Re: What will be the affect of Valentine day on Bitcoin Price on: February 14, 2020, 07:06:46 PM
I predict a $2000 rise before 00.00 UTC.

What could be more romantic than starry eyed lovers across the globe handing each other strings of letters and numbers on scraps of paper?

Millions of babies will be conceived tonight and each of them will receive 1 BTC. The price could be bid up to several million dollars in December in a rush to obtain one for all of them.
1992  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 14, 2020, 11:47:31 AM
It's valentines day, fuck the price, we know which way corn goes, treat your loved one today with a special moment of recognition and attention. Anyway, some virus is gonna wipe out the world in a few days according to the maths, YOLO  Roll Eyes

What I like to do is arrive early at chain restaurants and seduce the people waiting for their beloved right there on the table. I don't care if it's a man, woman or horse. As soon as their date arrives I disengage and start on the next one.

Finding a total stranger grunting and drooling on top of your true love forces people to evaluate what they truly mean to each other rather than sitting in silence all night and giving each other one rotting flower bought from a supermarket.

That's the greatest gift you can give a couple on this special day.

1993  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Legitimate Darknet Marketplaces which Accept Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2020, 11:31:03 AM
Maybe, maybe not. I don't remember anyone going through the courts to challenge the government. Maybe it didn't made sense with how broad powers US authorities seem to have when it comes to confiscating property.

I remember there was a guy selling his art on there who raised a stink. He and everyone else of course got nowhere.

US law enforcement seems to enjoy stealing cash from grannies in broad daylight and daring them to sue so there was never a hope.
1994  Economy / Economics / Re: Bakkt is done? on: February 13, 2020, 11:19:04 PM
Us little folks are no fools either, I mean not anymore since we got Bitcoin.

Only a select few think that way. It's great for them that they have that option but the vast majority don't think that way and never, ever will. They'll leave it to the big dicks and the dicks will be only too happy to package it up nicely and feed it back to them.
1995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anypay’s CEO Says Bitcoin is Worthless For Payment; Disables BTC Payment on: February 13, 2020, 11:14:12 PM
He's probably not wrong. If the payment processor itself is a fan of BCH then I'm not surprised if the customers are led to believe BCH is better for them, or if they're a fan of BCH since the beginning.

A non shill payment processor would have to be brave to take it on unless they're ordered to or have some type of private double spend compensation deal with Roger and Bitmain such as Bitpay probably have.

BCH has been 51% attacked, even if it was a 'friendly' one. That would be enough for me to drop it forever.
1996  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Legitimate Darknet Marketplaces which Accept Bitcoin? on: February 12, 2020, 10:48:53 PM
It's a good point. If there's nothing to hide, then it's best to use existent marketplaces on the clearnet.

I seem to recall quite a bit of legitimate business was taking place on Silk Road which I guess makes some sense there was illegitimate profit ready to be spent. Unfortunately that didn't stop the legit money being stolen by the US government. And if it ain't law enforcement then it'll be the site operators themselves.

I can see now how you're thinking. I don't think many others feel the same.
1997  Economy / Economics / Re: Bakkt is done? on: February 12, 2020, 08:53:09 PM
My take is that no one is actually interested in Bitcoin derivatives

No big dicks care about that. They don't care about anything other than dollars. Us little people think that way. The last thing on their mind is financial sovereignty. We'll see stuff like this take off when everything else does. I don't expect professional money to take the lead. They'll leach off the real people.

If Bakkt do throw in the towel within 3-4 years I'd be rather surprised. They have Circle as a timely warning. They've thrown in the towel just before whatever they abandoned exploded.
1998  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC.com - The most advanced cryptocurrency exchange on: February 12, 2020, 08:42:20 PM
They both can freeze users' funds. Freewallet is custodial.

Ironically it's called "Free"wallet  Grin

Some theorise that Freewallet, ShitBTC, Changelly, Minergate, Bytecoin, Cointelegraph and a few others are all operated by the same people.

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/2930/which-entities-are-related-to-bytecoin-and-minergate

Certainly Freewallet, Changelly and ShitBTC have the same habits when it comes to springing KYC on people.
1999  Economy / Exchanges / Re: ALL tokens stolen ON KRAKEN on: February 12, 2020, 08:26:04 PM
I've seen this a few times now. It is always, always Kraken where it happens. The person who reports it always seems to be fully 2FA'd too. I dunno if it means Kraken customers are all a bit dim and leave themselves wide open or whether Kraken has some sort of problem.
2000  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 12, 2020, 05:31:52 PM
Think "private airplane". I so want one, but such a bad idea.

That's a weird one to me.

There are so many owners desperate to make their millstone pay that you'll forever have the entire market at your beck and call to hire. You'll also get the latest and greatest one without fail.

Other than the convenience factor to obscure airports a lot of them look pretty goddamn pokey to me. I'd rather have an Etihad apartment and force the butler to pluck my clinkers while another one sucks the fungus off my toes and gobs it back on to my cheese board.
