Ho hum..
A pretty bearish summer..

Maybe we will have something nice to come in remember remember the bull of November..
22  Other / Meta / Re: Merited Banned Account on: August 26, 2022, 06:03:38 PM
Plenty of abandoned and banned accounts still get their posts merited..

It shows how sad it is that those users aren't here anymore..
23  Other / Meta / Re: How to promote BTCTalk on YouTube? on: August 26, 2022, 06:00:38 PM
I searched "bitcointalk.org" on youtube and its mostly videos to teach bounty hunters how to use the forum..
How to barely use the forum..
24  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Forum NFTs - immortalize your profile on the BTC blockchain on: August 26, 2022, 05:11:45 PM
Can this NFT's be traded and how exactly?

You can send them just like you send bitcoin.. Just enter a receiving address and amount to send and click send..
On a bitcoin wallet on the Bitcoin blockchain..

Their is also a decentralized exchange (DEX) on the bitcoin blockchain.. (did you know that?)
You can list them for sale on the books of the DEX just like any exchange, except you can create any exchange pair you want.. Just place an order..
You can place a buy or sell order for them for bitcoin, XCP, or any other asset/NFT that has ever been or will be created..
Just like any exchange except you can create any market pair you want with a couple clicks..

Or you can P2P trade them for whatever you want..

It’s really very nifty and more people should be aware of this..
This is Bitcoin!

And can I create NFT only for my own account or I can create them for any account I want, let's say satoshi, theymos, Hal Finney or anyone else?

Yes you sure can! And yes people could try to scam with fakes, but it’s pretty easy to prove/know which the real originals are.. It is on the bitcoin blockchain after all with full TX history and which assets were created by what address (addresses you can sign) and all..
It is bitcoin, just different little pieces of bitcoin, and bitcoin had to be burned to create them..
So they are basically different little pieces of bitcoin that get labeled as something specific..

This is how you can put the seed to your property on Bitcoin, the title of your car, or even shares of a publicly traded company, right on the bitcoin blockchain..

Someone could probably create multiple NFT of their account with changed avatar, Rank, text, etc.

We could easily tell if someone tried to make, sell, or trade fakes, just like you can tell if someone sends you a fake TX, or can tell if someone even has whatever they claim they do..
It’s all right there..

Check out my profile addy for example..
https://xchain.io/address/1vvSrTFiQY7akwbsv3iYPPe9mR3DsEbff
You can see what assets I have created, own, what orders I have open, what orders have filled or not, everything I have sent/received/traded since the beginning of time..
Just like regular bitcoin..

Nutildah is more skilled in the technicals of all this than I am, but I have also been heavily using this for a very long time (in bitcoin time)..

p.s. I have no monetary interest in this whatsoever other than promoting Counterparty..
25  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Forum NFTs - immortalize your profile on the BTC blockchain on: August 26, 2022, 01:17:03 AM
Nah..
Let someone else have the free one!
26  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Forum NFTs - immortalize your profile on the BTC blockchain on: August 25, 2022, 03:40:37 PM
Why locked at 1?

You could let the user choose how many they would like to mint, as rare or abundant as they want, and then we could all trade with each other..
27  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase One - Zero trade fees? on: August 23, 2022, 03:48:44 PM
The amount of people IRL I have told about how to use CB Pro to drastically reduce their trade fees and spread fees about boggles my mind..
I can’t think of one person that knew..
Many also use robinhood and I tried explain to them better ways also..

The only times I have really ever ran across anyone else supposedly quite experienced in crypto I found out through others saying “Oh Xxx guy had blah blah blah coins and really knows what he is talking about etc etc” and then those experienced bragging people kindof wouldn’t want to talk to me about crypto at all..

I never brag about having a lot of crypto and just say I have a bit and have been around a long time and seen quite a lot including so many coins pump dump come and go never to be heard of again..

The only thing I ever really show anyone happens to be some of my CB TX history..
Just scroll all the way to the bottom and show them the old dates..
The good old days when CB was Bitcoin only..

Coinbase should have stayed Bitcoin only and I would have much more respect for them..
28  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 22, 2022, 02:41:12 PM
OG was not removed as treasurer.. OG is still a forum treasurer..
Nope.

Oh..

I didn’t realize that..
Last I knew they switched to multisig and OG was one of them..
I even merited that post.. I wonder if he was edited out of the post since I last saw it..
Idk.. My mistake either way..

And also phoneposting autocorrect mistakes edited..
29  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 21, 2022, 11:08:46 PM
OG was not removed as treasurer.. OG is still a forum treasurer..
theymos just changed the way the treasury works..

It is a super amateur mistake getting your account phished..
OG shouldn’t have had to explain that elementary security precaution any more than he should have to explain to you to double check your sending address..

Deals with only messages from accounts are the norm.. Most know to keep their account secure, especially if they are relying on it for such deals..

You could have chosen many different ways of using an escrow.. You chose basic..
You could also have had OG receive the miner and then ship it to you, to make sure a miner existed.. Many do this with physical coins..

This is 99% your fault..

I’ve been scammed in crypto 2 times.. Both were my fault..
Once when I was very very new to crypto for like a $20 gift card..

The other time for one of those pet buying scams because my GF wanted a specific cat, and I was drinking and playing cards and didn’t think twice and just paid for it..
Actually I was really really an idiot and ASKED if they would take BTC because I didn’t have Venmo..
Think it was like $450.. I was a total idiot..

This sucks.. I know..
I really don’t think you should be blaming OG for it though..

Actually I’m pretty sure OG is quite suspicious here that this is a setup to scam or try to defame HIM..
Look at it from his point of view too..

31  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 18, 2022, 11:35:55 PM
Meanwhile, why isn't Burky155's account tagged, and perhaps a flag created yet?
I mean, by the time someone logs into the other parties account and even sends a message to the escrow provider to release the funds, then that means he's directly involved.

Or are we first waiting for him to find a new victim while all the blame goes to the escrow provider?

I rarely tag and I tagged it a while ago..
Am I not even DT2 anymore? Lol
32  Economy / Reputation / Re: hZti engaged in account trade and reported me on: August 18, 2022, 10:39:33 PM
I would be ok with account sales if the account being bought/sold got their trust reset upon changing hands. Unfortunately that doesn't happen and is 1 reason an account could demand a decent price.

This thread made me think a lot about starting a thread to discuss the risk/benefits, pros/cons of account sales, but their are so many points to make, refute, and concur with that it will require a large amount of effort to start with so many subtopics to touch on..

Besides the obvious economical benefits in sheer GDP and untapped value of this forum, interest in this forum it would generate, increasing the actual use of cryptocurrency in our community, thriving lending environment, etc., I believe a good case could be made that account sales do a lot to lessen petty theft/scams and misbehavior that dont have much deterrent without account value..

It used to be pretty easy to determine that an account could be trusted a certain amount due to the sheer fact that only an imbecile would scam for an amount less than their account is worth and therefore destroy that value..

No collateral loans for maybe 50% of account value, account collateral loans for maybe 80% of account value with signed message proving ownership and the right to liquidate said account (look how long lenders don't even tag for defaulted loans anymore because they will loose all hope of recovering, even keep it secret in hope), you could go fist in trade with other accounts up to a certain amount of the accounts value and generally trust the deal, etc, etc..

OP, why did you wait so long to tag him?
2 years to tag a defaulted loan in waiting for ALL hope to be lost..

Remember? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1142314.0

I would be ok with account sales if the account being bought/sold got their trust reset upon changing hands. Unfortunately that doesn't happen and is 1 reason an account could demand a decent price.

A neutral tag "This account was sold 08/18/2022"..
All could see old feedback was not the same user..

Here I am risking a lot of distrust for even mentioning the possibility of their possibly being positive aspects of account sales..
33  Economy / Reputation / Re: hZti engaged in account trade and reported me on: August 18, 2022, 09:31:05 PM
Just putting it out there, if you are going to do your own investigation, reach out to a trusted forum member and in a PM give them the signature for a signed message with a date / time in it.

This way you can come back later and give the message.
So if I was doing it someone would get:

Address: 1DiRVLKx3V6jpHqFNKqzmuuNq6vGPjHKFx
Signature: HP62waYZGVnbdhpd8xHWOLB/yMoVsT9lzDCk7mtAd7hCY/VWUe4Om6y4nsBCtFBBujsxxgmpCOgUMNPMV1Dmu1Y=

At a later date, once I have attempted to do it good I can send them:
Quote
I am DaveF and I am going to attemt to buy accounts from user XYZ it is 7:40AM on 18-Aug-22

This way there is proof as to what you are doing. Or if you want to do it yourself, post the address and signature and use one of the forum archives like loyce.club to prove that you did not change it after the fact.

-Dave

I'm not so sure..
Sting operations you know... Don't always turn out the best.

Try to scam him..
Get caught..
"Oh I was just trying to help! See my signed message!"

Those evil evil account sellers!!
They all deserve the death penalty..
Right guys?

35  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] NiceHash.com - sell & buy hash rate cloud mining service / multipool on: August 18, 2022, 12:06:49 AM
If you are interested in mining at NiceHash then we suggest you read this article: https://www.nicehash.com/blog/post/asic-mining-on-nicehash-what-are-the-benefits

We also have white-glove support for bigger mining farms. You can contact us at farm@nicehash.com

“Are your withdrawals temporary locked?
There are 2 possible reasons why your withdrawals are locked:

If you reset your password (and you don't have 2FA enabled), change an email, or disable 2FA, we will disable all withdrawals, API keys, and some parts of buying and trading for your account for up to seven days. This is due to security reasons in case your account gets hacked.

Your account is labelled as inactive. Due to our internal security policy, we instruct our users with sleeping-inactive accounts (accounts that weren’t used for several months) to complete the KYC procedure. This procedure enables us to diligently detect and prevent any malicious or unlawful use or use prohibited by our Terms of Service.”

How many hoops does one have to jump through to withdraw some dust from you guys?

So you force me to set up 2FA to withdraw some dust, and then you lock my account for 7 days because I recently changed my 2FA, and are probably going to want me to KYC before I can WD the dust in my account because I haven’t logged in for a while?

Convince me your not doing this just to try to make it such a hassle to WD that you just end up being able to keep peoples little bit of coin they were able to make on your site..

Bad form..

36  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 17, 2022, 10:44:39 PM
Good luck with your lawyer I guess..

This forum is not a hand holding forum (2FA)
It is not a lawyers or governments hand holding forum either..
If you can’t explicitly prove that account was yours, you probably aren’t getting it or anything out of it..

The users here are much more skilled at figuring out what happened than 99% of lawyers or their “experts” are anyway..
37  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 17, 2022, 09:44:32 PM
Yea you could just be stirring up shit..

Getting your account back may not help you at all because whoever has it can delete everything..

Post what you have..

This forum doesn’t offer much of anything other than a place for people to write posts.. This is not the forums fault at all.. So stop that..

Dealing like this only relying on account communication isn’t unusual and is pretty secure, because users that make big deals usually keep their account secure..
If your going to rely on the security of your account, keep your account secure..

If you want real security don’t rely on your account, rely on your keys..
Cold keys would be best..

You better change the passwords on all of your accounts..
Like right now..
38  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase One - Zero trade fees? on: August 17, 2022, 09:34:15 PM
I recovered an account with them once that I lost the 2FA for, had no balance, it wasn’t too hard to do..

You may be right, but I also believe that they are after the dumb money getting into crypto and charge them handsomely..
Pretty obvious with the shitcoins they list and with their stupid earnings paying a couple dollars to read about shitcoins that they shill..

I wouldn’t put my name on that shit if I was them..
39  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Massively fraudulent Escrow Transaction! on: August 17, 2022, 08:55:46 PM
“And part of the agreement was that I would verify the item was a legit, working, antminer L7”

Post proof!

Post all communications including these agreements..

Almost done reading and will have more to say momentarily..

And also we know it was likely the “seller” who hacked because she just simply had the funds released to the wallet that the burky155 account provided.”

BS!
You could be both the buyer and seller here..
This could be all just YOU trying to create drama and possibly scam here..
You could be the scammer here..
Nothing is certain.. Yet..

BTW I really don’t appreciate you blaming this forum and all of your 2FA posting nonsense..
You fucked up..

This escrow deal wasn’t very secure in the first place!
Any escrow deal depending on only communication from an account/account ownership is less secure than it could be..

You ALL agreed to a less than secure deal in the first place..
Less secure than possible at least..
This is very common, but not as secure as it could have been..

“Owner Of Betgalaxy.io Profit-Sharing Casino”

You own a crypto casino and don’t even know how to secure an escrow deal?
Lazy..

Very suspicious..

If you all wanted to engage in a more secure escrow transaction NONE of you should be accepting ANY communication that isn’t/wasn’t cryptographically signed with a bitcoin/crypto address or PGP..
Relying on a forum account as proof of identity is lazy.. (common with smaller deals like this, $10k is a modest sized deal but not massive)

If I was to escrow deals like this NO agreements or directions such as releases would happen without every single last critical instruction and contract all being signed every time other than blockchain proofs such as TX IDs..

OP do you have any proofs of your communications at all?

Should this be moved to scam accusations?
This situation needs many serious eyes on it..
And for all involved to stay on topic..
40  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase One - Zero trade fees? on: August 17, 2022, 04:59:59 PM
So advanced trading HAS come to regular Coinbase (not pro).

Looking at this Coinbase One zero trade fees deal..
It does NOT apply to advanced trade on Coinbase! So you would still have to use their shitty buy/sell feature that is like market orders with an unknown spread, so you still lose the spread..

AND it’s only good to “Trade up to $10k monthly with zero trade fees”..
$10k volume per month is like nothing if your actually trading..

So basically this is pretty much a trash offer bordering on a scam..
