I do not have to pay income tax on my holdings, just 1-3%.

It's in your country law or what? So from your words, if you try to sell BTC you will be needed to pay only 1-3 %? Sounds pretty silly, especially in EU. Maybe in some offshore - yeah, true story, but not in EU. As i remember the only country with such opportunity is Germany, where if you hold btc more than one year you don't need to pay taxes on them.

If I sell BTC I have to pay 15% long term cap gains and at a 0 zero $ cost basis (because I didn’t pay anything for my BTC), along with regular income tax, with audit insurance for about $150..
So basically 15% of the amount sold..

And what is your regular income tax?

Maybe countries has limits for sums. For example, in my country i can withdraw with 3-5 % tax. But if sum is bigger than 400k USD i need to pay 42 %

I can be wrong, but i will never believe in story where some EU citizen just declared his 10 millions and governments was like "Oh man, please pay 1-3 % from this incredible sum, good day". If there is no special law (like in Germany).

Because memes are harbingers of a dystopian future?

E-S-P-E-C-I-A-L-L-Y !  Grin

Regular income tax like as in tax on earned income from a job/employment..
Probably something like 18% ish.. Depends on how much you make really..

Just saying that I would file and pay tax on a BTC sale at the same time I would file my income taxes all in one bundle.. But they would be taxed separately..
Like, it wouldn’t be 15% ltcg + 18% income.. Just 15% on the sale, and around 18% on earned income separately..

That’s how it worked when I sold a bit in 2017 atleast, gave me audit insurance on it, haven’t heard a word about it since, so I guess it worked..

I have my own health insurance that costs me like $20 a week.. I wouldn’t trade it for any of those “free” government healthcare schemes..

The way to actually get the BEST healthcare in the world, is to pay cash for it, in the USA..
If you don’t have health insurance and just say “I’m paying cash”, they say “right this way sir”..

If I sell BTC I have to pay 15% long term cap gains and at a 0 zero $ cost basis (because I didn’t pay anything for my BTC), along with regular income tax, with audit insurance for about $150..
So basically 15% of the amount sold..

Guys.. Haven’t you been in crypto very long?
This is what crypto does..

Get the fuck out of here.

You believe that we are talking about "crypto" in this thread?  Fuck that amorphous category of nonsense.

We are talking about bitcoin, and many of us could give less than two shits if some shitcoin happened to pump along with bitcoin or be oppositely correlated or have its own pumpening event... who cares...

Let's try to stay focused, at least and don't be using nonsense ambiguous terms in this thread.. because if we are mentioning any coins besides bitcoin in this thread, it should be for the purpose of denigrating them rather than trying to provide some kind of platform for them or to even imply that they might have some kind of equivalence to bitcoin - besides riding off of bitcoin's good will and security.

Idk wtf you are talking about, nor what kind of authority you think you are.. You aren’t even a HODLr or an experienced trader, imo..

This is crypto, it goes up, and it goes down, and these tiny little downs in BTC lately are pullbacks for ants..
How has your selling been going?

I wasn’t talking about any altcoins, but I would if I wanted to..
Like.. I happen to think Doge and XMR are pretty cool too.. But I’m a Bitcoin believer..

Calm yourself..

606  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2021, 10:45:47 PM
Convincing?
Barely a dip imo..

Convincing to me would have been to around 25-27k for a little dump.. back to 20 would have been a pretty darn convincing pullback..

That was like nothing..
We didn’t even go down as much as we went up in 1 day..

A good dump would knock off a week of gains, not just the last half day of gains..

Wait, Vegas has bitcoin ATM machines?
They must look like slot machines with all those 0's and someone thought they hit the jackpot when they were trying to buy some btc.
I remember using one of the first ATMs while I was in Vegas that spat out money for bitcoin. I met another coiner there for lunch and to check it out. Reasonable spread, I think we took out $800, bought lunch at the Burger Bar, then put the rest of the $$$ back in.

But it did point out to me why Bitcoin would never work to pay hookers. Waiting 20 minutes for 2 confirmations was a lifetime. Having to stare at a hooker after the fun was over for that long and make small talk would just be hell on earth.

That's when I discovered Litecoin. :-)

According to google maps BTC atms are everywhere around here..

Just went to a bitcoin ATM here in Vegas, to see one with my own eyes for the first time..

Damn thing has a $10,000 spread! Lol
27k sell - $37k buy
$5 fee

I was gonna stick some $ in it for the heck of it, but no thanks..
609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2021, 05:42:14 PM
Wait, it just hit $33,000? You realize one bitcoin can no longer fit into a signed integer anymore.....

Easy solution: 1$ = 3030 sats

Bitcoin sign is BTC. Any suggestions about the Sat currency sign?

Lets go with  $

How about an S over an A like an anarchy sign with a circle and extended crosses on the A..
To remind everyone why Bitcoin came to be..
610  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2021, 04:57:44 PM
Another thing is..
The actual market cap is nowhere near the same as mined coins.. Their are TONS of lost forever coins..
Satoshi coins.. Cryptsy coins.. And on and on..

Therefore, it’s much easier to go up than what the math based on mined coins Market cap states..

Bigger than visa or Berkshire Hathaway?
Sound cool, but actually probably not..

How many coins in circulation have been moved in the last 4 years? + 10%..
That’s probably closer to the actual market cap..

$650k to equal the cap of gold?
Probably more like $1mm ea to equal the cap of gold..

Guys.. Haven’t you been in crypto very long?
This is what crypto does..

Yeah it’ll probably retrace, but the important part is that it cleared the books/cleared a path to where it is now..
The higher the path it clears the better.. I hope it spikes and clears the books to infinity even if it dumps back to 25k..

Wipes all those old sell orders out of the books, so if/when it goes back down, it only needs to break the NEW orders to get back there..

How many new sell orders are happening vs buys? Upward buying pressure?
We are good dudes calm down..
612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2021, 04:38:26 PM
When we dumped to 16 before breaking 20 I told my mom “this is your last chance”
She finally bought a little mid 16..
Then started to get excited watching it go up and bought some more mid 19..
Then a bit more in the early 20s somewhere..
She is up about 66%..

My first nocoiner convert..
Damn I’m glad I was right..

Sent my GF $10 worth long time ago (0.0006), did cashapp ref invites for her and Coinbase quizzes for her.. She bought $10..
Has over $100 now..
She won’t be able to “invest” but she caught the bug too..
613  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 02, 2021, 04:01:25 PM
I wish I had or have bought more coins, but in Hindsight I could have sold or never have kept coins at all..
I’m probably lucky enough just to have what I have in coins considering the real life struggles I have been through where selling coins was probably the right/responsible decision but I did not..
I’ve lived poor AF but never sold my coins to fix my situation..
Even now I still live lower middle class but have been able to get myself into a good enough income to get catching up..

Not selling..

Is refusing to sell coin to pay off debt basically the same as going into debt to buy coin?
Kinda the thought process I have been struggling with..

Oh I’m not saying that it isn’t worth buying..
It just looks like $100 is just dust, lol..

Actually I’m kicking around the idea of buying Bitcoin with all of my income like immediately when I get it and then just selling whatever BTC I need to cover my usual spending..

Put all of my checks into BTC, use a CC all month, and then just sell whatever I need to may my CC balance at the end of the month..
619  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 31, 2020, 04:20:36 PM
Out of all the BTC I have ever “bought” with $, 30% of it (in $) has been this year @ $16k..
I bought $50 worth on cashapp just for fun.. Heh..
I also bought $100 worth in 2017 to help someone out..

This year I also bought a couple miners to flip with $ and paid shipping in $ but sold them for BTC, so that’s kinda like buying a little BTC too I suppose in a round about way.. Made $60 profit..
I’ve done that a couple times but insignificant amounts..

Thinking about buying BTC now blows my mind..
I know it’s probably a good investment but with the prices now I have probably burnt thousands of $ worth of BTC when 100k sats meant nothing..
I’ve probably spent $20k at today’s prices just in exchange and TX fees..
620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Local sports book, arbs? on: December 31, 2020, 04:02:20 PM
Just because “arbitrage” is a cool sounding word doesn’t mean it’s bad..

I see no reason bookies would do anything but encourage it.. All it is is more bets on their books..

Same as exchange arbitrage, exchanges love it.. More volume, more liquidity..
What’s not to like?

I don't know why guys find tricks in gambling and try to make it like a job, I mean gambling is meant for fun and if you are thinking too much about tricks and holes in the gambling house that means you are addicted and actually desperate to win money which is not a good sign for a gambler.

Or maybe it means something more like your not a gambler at all? You think maybe?
I have NEVER placed a single bet at a crypto casino..
The only thing I have been “addicted” to is stacking sats..

I much prefer trading over gambling and these days HODLing is enough gambling kicks for me..
