201  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] The Official Troll Poll - voting has begun! on: July 31, 2019, 02:19:03 PM
**Spoiler Ahead**

Damn, I can't believe game-protect already has so many votes since he definitely isn't a troll.
On the other hand, giving him the label of "troll" might actually be beneficial for the forum.

I know nobody takes him seriously, but he does continue with his attempts of luring people to use his questionable services.
202  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Minecraft UHC (battle royale) game for bitcoin | NEED HOSTING PAY IN BTC on: July 31, 2019, 02:01:27 PM
<People did not want to spend their coins, because they wanted to wait for the next price explosion to cash in on the profits>  Roll Eyes

And they want to get more coins to get more exposure to price movement, so they will be willing to risk it

Well, I don't think you should pay any attention to that. (regarding Kakmakr's quote)
If you host a proper UHC tournament with prizes in BTC, I'd be willing to join myself.

I've been playing Minecraft since early beta and I personally don't really care about the BTC price.
I always have some BTC to spend Tongue
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffett's obsession with physical things, gets in his way to see the gem on: July 31, 2019, 12:51:14 PM
I think it's not just that Bitcoin isn't inherently a physical object, but also the whole idea behind it-- Buffett has never really gone through any problems with either a financial institution or a government.

This system is what allows him to become and stay successful, so why would he even bother investing in Bitcoin? I respect his way of doing business despite him being so disrespectful towards Bitcoin and the people owning it.

People should stop focus on Buffett and spend more time educating people who are actually interested in this technology. It's a much better allocation of your time and benefits every Bitcoin enthusiast.

I wouldn't actually call it being disrespectful, he just applies his own knowledge to Bitcoin and I can very well imagine why he says those things.
If you're not somewhat acquainted with Bitcoin, then it does appear as though it's something which doesn't have any real-world use.

People also keep asking him about Bitcoin, just because he's one of the most successful investors out there.
But it's commonly known that WB sticks to investments that he understands, so why would he say anything positive about Bitcoin?
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There are many scammers doing fake sales of Libra - example on: July 31, 2019, 12:26:23 PM
Besides, why would anyone want to buy Libra when it comes out, it's a stablecoin and it's owned by Facebook...

I have the same dilemma: why on earth would somebody invest in Libra, when it's a stable coin? What would they earn, the privilege to get their money money back if they are lucky?!

Yeah, it's kind of funny really. I've seen so many people say that they're going to "invest" a shit-ton into Libra and I'm always thinking: Why??
You're going to wait for the price to do what exactly?

I haven't actually bothered to read the entire whitepaper, but I do get the gist of it.
It's going to be used as a currency to allow the unbanked to get access to financial services, supposedly with less fees.

If there's one thing I don't want Facebook to be involved in, it's my finances :'D

205  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is there a need for tools for sig campaign management? on: July 31, 2019, 09:58:51 AM
.. but still I would want to know if there's a need for such tools today, because I could develop one if someone asked for it.

Manual checking is still the best tool for a signature campaign.

A reputable and good manager will never use an automated tool to check post quality even it involves checking a large quantity.

Maybe your plan tool can help other forms of campaigns here such as Social Media Campaign or any in a bounty program.

Sure, but you can eliminate some work from a manager's task list.
If they don't have to count the posts & characters any more, then they can just focus on manually checking the quality.

Quality control is indeed something that shouldn't be automated, but the other menial counting tasks can be in my opinion.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: There are many scammers doing fake sales of Libra - example on: July 31, 2019, 09:47:34 AM
It's really kind of ridiculous that people would even fall for that, but yeah I'm not surprised by anything anymore these days.
Literally 5 seconds of research and you already know that it's impossible to buy Libra.

Besides, why would anyone want to buy Libra when it comes out, it's a stablecoin and it's owned by Facebook...
207  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bull Run ‘Hasn’t Started’ on: July 31, 2019, 09:35:59 AM
Peter Schiff is one of the weirdest libertarians I have ever seen.  Roll Eyes  He is a stock broker and he likes Gold, so it is not strange to see negative comments from Goldbugs like that, but Bitcoin should be every libertarians wet dream, but he is not convinced that it is fighting for libertarians goals.  Roll Eyes

I think some libertarians think precious metals is the hedge against economic collapse, but I think governments have control over global Gold reserves and even private ownership, if they want to do that. <History has shown that they can outlaw private Gold ownership>  Tongue

I don't know, after watching his livestream I got the feeling that he really does want to believe in Bitcoin, but that no-one has been able to convince him with strong enough arguments.
That said, he seems to have some very weird notions about Bitcoin. I reckon he's just too deep into gold to entertain the possibility that Bitcoin might be better Tongue
208  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: 🔴CRYPTO-LICENSES IN ESTONIA🔴 on: July 31, 2019, 08:58:36 AM
Good day,

We are writing on behalf of a company DKLex OÜ (registry code 12075090), duly registered and active in the republic of Estonia.  Our goal is to provide our clients with registration services, accounting services and legal support services of the highest quality.

DKLex OÜ provides its clients with various services that are essential for a successful and legal cryptocurrency based business.

Estonia became one of the first EU jurisdiction that legalized the work of the cryptosector and allowed to legally organize and carry out ICO on the basis of blockchain technologies.

Can you provide the link to your EU company?

After a bit of research, I've found their vat number: EE101613008
You can check it in the VIES database: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/vatRequest.html

209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOINTALK FORUM ADMINS SHOULD HELP BOUNTY HUNTERS. on: July 30, 2019, 11:49:22 AM
You know that this is mainly a Bitcoin forum, right? I think that most admins would rather see all these bounty topics disappear than start to cater to bounty hunters.
Bounty hunters are the main cause of spam here on the forum, so why would they even try to help them in the first place?

Also, don't use caps for topic titles, it really doesn't help your cause...
210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10,000 American Cryptocurrency Owners Will Receive Warning Letters From the IRS on: July 30, 2019, 11:20:10 AM
Taxing bitcoin sound perfectly legit to me, but taxing shitcoin? I think they got a lot of paperwork to do, will IRS accept crypto to be part of the tax payment? We can tossing thousands of shitcoin to them with just a click of button.

What's the difference for the IRS? If someone's making money of off it, they're going to tax it, that's just how it works.
I hate paying taxes as much as the next guy, but on some level I do think it's needed to pay taxes, given that society needs them in order to function.

Now, what I do not agree with is what those taxes are spent on, but seems like the different parties in our government seem to think otherwise Tongue
211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Casino On Steem Blockchain on: July 30, 2019, 11:11:53 AM
I think that most people will still choose casino where they can gamble with top altcoins and not lose time to exchange to steem, but maybe some steem holders will choose play there.

I think many of them still hold steem and don't gamble with the coin because they have many other top altcoins. But we don't know how many of them who still use steem as the bet. Maybe if they can enjoy using steem but I don't use steem to gamble, and I still prefer to use the top altcoin which is easy to use in the gambling website.

I don't know about that, a lot of people on Steem do not hold any other crypto I think.
I've met quite a few people there who are mainly in it for the blogging and community aspects of Steem and they only hold Steem.
212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How I lost 200,000 EURO on Bitcasino.io on: July 30, 2019, 10:54:08 AM
Hey all-

Here are the facts-

1- This is a true story already confirmed by Bitcasino.io
2- The developer of the game Jammin' Jars, is https://www.pushgaming.com/about/ with offices in London and Malta
3- Push Gaming holds a UK Remote Software Supplier License and an Alderney Associate Supplier Certificate
4- Jammin' Jars paid out €19,361.80 and £17,174.85 on January 14th and January 28th respectively, both on €1 and £1 spins. https://www.pushgaming.com/blog/big-wins-push-gamings-jammin-jars.html
5- Bitcasino.io has nothing to do with result of the Jackpot and doesn't choose when they hit
6- btmarketmod is a whale with a gambling problem and should probably bet less or quit all together

I can understand how some people see me as having a gambling problem. I honestly don't. While it might seem like a huge amount of money for most people, I'm not selling my belongings or making loans or asking for handouts to make these bets. I'm not putting myself at risk with these bets and deposits. I could play 5x this amount with just one of the btc wallets I have and still be okay. I'm simply posting to see feedback and find out if this is normal to dump such a large amount of funds on the same slots over and over again and not win anything. You don't see me fighting with Bitcasino and calling them scammers and saying I want my money back because I lost everything. I'm posting my results and asking for other peoples opinions so that I can know whether to continue trying with bitcasino or not. I have fun playing the games. Obviously not when I'm losing huge amounts in a few minutes because even though I have a lot of btc it still hurts losing 5,10,15 btc on one game in less than an hour. I just want to know if I'm being taken advantage of or if this is normal.

But previously, you mentioned that you're using 90% of your mining earnings for gambling.
I mean, that sounds like a really terrible habit. How do you know that you won't start spending more, if you hit a really big losing streak again?

But yeah, you might not have a gambling problem if you can actually afford it and still have enough money set aside.
Just be careful not to let yourself go, I guess...
213  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: People expecting collateral for all loans on: July 30, 2019, 09:52:45 AM
You know where you can get no-collateral loans pretty easily, on Reddit actually, in the /r/borrow sub.
Once in a while you also read stories from people who've literally lost thousands of dollars, because they lent to people who they trusted previously.

Happens pretty often and that's the reason why we ask for collateral here.
Too many people were getting scammed, before asking for collateral became standard.
214  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Crex24 ~ No Verification on: July 30, 2019, 09:21:21 AM
Some exchanges do not require verification, there nothing inherently strange about that.
I mean, they might be operating from a country that doesn't require full on KYC or AML.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly asked for verification, once you start trading with large amounts.
215  Other / Meta / Re: Merit awarding on: July 25, 2019, 07:34:30 PM
By looking at your post history, I see that you've always been active during the past couple of months.
You have over 1000 posts and still haven't received any merit, that should tell you something...

You have not gotten any merits because your posts are generally very low quality.
Always the same pattern, just 2 lines of text in bad English and with very little substance.

Look, people can overlook the not so perfect English, but you're going to have to increase your post quality to get some merits from people.
If you're really unlucky, someone could easily go and report most of your posts, since they're really spammy.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why we need Bitcoin? When we have thousands of better Bitcoins. on: July 25, 2019, 04:57:58 PM
Sorry, but I don't see any of the coin you've listed really succeeding.
The fact that they're hijacking Bitcoin's name is reason enough for me not to use them.

When Bitcoin Cash first launched, I immediately withdrew my coins and exchanged them for regular old Bitcoin, as did many other people.

I'd rather invest in other forks that haven't called themselves Bitcoin, like Litecoin for example.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran legalizes mining on: July 25, 2019, 12:47:09 PM
The sanctions didn't start yesterday, but the Treasury Department has been slowly ramping up its pressure on exchanges ever since 2017. A formal endorsement of mining by Iran suggests there will be increased Iranian capital flow into mining. Between that and the fact that Iranian officials have repeatedly said cryptocurrencies can be used to thwart sanctions, it makes sense that US officials are watching closely. The fact is that P2P markets, DEXs, and non-KYC exchanges could theoretically allow circumvention of sanctions.

the sanctions didn't start in 2017 either they started back in 1979 just as the revolution occurred in Iran and have been only increasing ever since. my point was that if US decided to do anything to exchanges in the name of Iran and sanctions,... they would be lying their asses off since Iranians never used any of these exchanges they have access to put pressure on in first place.
any other method they were using (DEX, P2P, certain exchanges,...) have been and will remain out of their jurisdiction and reach.

Before 2017, in the eyes of the Treasury Department, cryptocurrency wasn't relevant to sanctions enforcement because the market was so tiny. That is obviously changing as Bitcoin becomes more and more valuable. And Iranians were allowed on most exchanges before that time. That's why there was a big scandal when Bittrex disabled the accounts of all Iranians and confiscated their funds. See these threads:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2342458.0;all
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2279516.0;all

From 2017 on, we've seen many exchanges add TOS prohibiting regions based on OFAC sanctions. This is because OFAC wasn't applying any pressure before then. Now they are.

Damn, I hadn't heard of this before, I always regarded Bittrex as one of the fairly good exchanges.
Banning entire groups of people AND confiscating their funds is a huge red flag.

It's kinda sad that the entire nation is in effect punished by these sanctions, though that's kind of the point of sanctions in the first place...
218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Casino On Steem Blockchain on: July 25, 2019, 12:35:08 PM
Without a doubt it's pretty and all, but I see no real reason for something like this existing in the presence of tons of either coins that do the same thing. Do you really think that there is substantial demand to be able to support this?

I think most people are going to answer no to that, as they can see that something like this is doomed to fail. People are going to use BTC, XMR, BCH, and so on and so forth to bet. They're not going to use Steem.

I wouldn't waste valuable resources creating this and maintaining this, you could focus on so much more.

What are you talking about? Have you just missed everything that was said in the last 10 replies or so?
Magic Dice doesn't exist anymore, they have scammed.

That said, your comment doesn't even make sense, dice does work on Steem. There are numerous other services that do work and which are pretty popular.

Was just posting on the original post and hadn't read the posts thereafter, which I must admit is my mistake. So I'm sorry for that.

I don't understand why a site would exit scam for around $150k USD. Doesn't seem worth it to have people wanting your blood, law enforcement chasing you, and for you to never be able to get another job in the crypto world again.

THOUGH my original point stands. This was a stupid idea. There's no need for a steem dice site. We have other sites, and all this was was an attempt to lure in people with steem bags to make some 'passive income' and then steal it from them. The site itself obviously wasn't making enough to support the 'dividends' (bs dividends) that they were giving out.

Steem users would use their own platform, rather than converting their steem/sbd to other coins and going to gamble on other platforms. It makes no sense.

Indeed, and that's exactly the reason why EpicDice is doing so well.
Most Steem users tend to exchange their coins through Blocktrades and they charge a significant fee.

Bittrex or Binance are also used, but it takes a bit longer to get your coins exchanged.

So yeah, it makes perfect sense for there to be a gambling site which is native to Steem.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 25, 2019, 12:21:03 PM
This is interesting.
I've always believed that computer based lottery could be cracked by someone with the required knowledge/skills. But it will be pretty hard to do this on physical lottery or dice.
Computer based random variables are not that random

The thing is that he didn't really crack anything, even though pretty much every article about him states that he did crack the lottery.
He just applied relatively simple odds calculations.

When the prize pool of certain jackpots were high enough, combined with the amount of possible winning number combinations being low enough, he just found investors who would buy up the majority of tickets.
Keep in mind that the total cost of buying these tickets was lower than the amount of money that could be won.

Not that hard really...
220  Other / Meta / Re: How to design one of those sweet looking image-based promotional posts? on: July 25, 2019, 10:10:53 AM
I suspect most would just use Photoshop, as others have already mentioned.

I'm personally more of a Gimp fan (being free & open-spource 'n all), it's definitely more than adequate to create these types of images.
I'd suggest watching a couple of the tutorials on this particular Youtube channel, that will give you the info needed to create images like those.

https://www.youtube.com/user/DaViesMediaDesign/videos

His flyer tutorials should really help you out, they're quite similar to what you're looking for!
