2001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A crypto world without CEXs...How would it be? on: April 02, 2023, 10:30:10 PM
If major countries around the world decide to reject crypto/Blockchain tech sometime in the future, there's a high probability CEXs (centralized exchanges) will cease to exist. They will shut down their operations as crypto is declared "illegal" for mainstream use. Without an on/off ramp to/from the Fiat and crypto worlds, I wonder how would the industry survive?

Will a world without CEXs mark the end of crypto? I know crypto is decentralized, but the truth is that CEXs provide most of the liquidity of the market. DEXs are "second-hand" options that have their own set of issues. Either mainstream adoption for crypto/Blockchain tech starts to decline, or all the other way around. We've seen how exchanges have been "closing up shop" in the US due to strict regulations. What makes you think other countries will tighten regulations especially when they claim crypto can be used to avoid sanctions?

Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
Well we would lose those institutional investors we wanted to get in for so long. At your scenario there wouldn't be instant ban, as laws don't move as quickly we would have some time to prepare. But that prepariing would most likely be massive panic and people would try to escape out before fiat pairs would be banned.

This would lead to lack of liquidity and total price crash. Most likely lots of people would even short it with leverage. I could see we might go back to 2013-2014 prices. As that what was happening before legit investors came. There were few big whales but it was a joke compared to current markets.

In the end we would be coming back to roots. People trading p2p, hard to say how many people would do that but it would be way harder and charts wouldn't really exist as they are now.
Some people would keep trading altcoin pairs (not stable coins tho). This would totally be a nerd and geek game after that. Some might think it would be a step up.
2002  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics supposed to be for the old ones? on: April 02, 2023, 10:17:45 PM
In some countries I believe that the set of people who runs political affairs are the old ones and is really worrisome, talking about age range 70yrs and above. Like in my country where I'm from these set of people (politicians) just feel they are the only ones fit to run the country and you find it hard to see someone between the age of 40yrs and above to rule as president or any higher position, is really outrageous and irritating. Why is greed speaking more in politics? Must every politician(s) think only about themselves other than the citizens?

I really don't blame most countries that engages in protest year in year out, nobody would be happy to have guys who ship in money into the development of their own businesses other than developing the country.
I am assuming you are younger. So why why not get involved in politics? You really can't complain of wrong people doing wrong politics if you are not doing anything. You can obviously vote for younger candinates, but you also can be a candinate. Politics only change by people changing it. If young people won't vote, there will be most likely old people in charge. As old people might not trust young and inexperienced politicians.
2003  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online casino always take risks? on: April 01, 2023, 10:48:33 PM
I am just curious about how does online casino pay for their promotion on their influencers?
They are dealing with some serious capital. I mean there are people winning millions and it doesn't even scratch them.
To get some idea how much money flows trough them, you can watch live bets people are making in casinos and sports in front page of stake.com for example
You can see that people are playing tens of thousands in a second and that's just in the casino side. There are plenty more bets made in sports section.

Where does their earning comes from?
They have a house edge, so from pure mathematical probability.

How will you get scammed when you try online casino?
How can you tell that online casino is safe?
If you get scammed, there are several ways to do it, but if you suspect foul play, don't deposit or connect your wallet into it.
You can tell that casino is safe when it has a long history and strong community behind it. Preferably they are also talking in open forum.
2004  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - 🦉 Drake, UFC, Everton Main Partner ⚽ 🥊 on: April 01, 2023, 09:49:35 PM
It is not just disappointing, but also very frustrating 😤, this is actually something I've experienced my self, and I tell you it wasnt funny, I was trying to get a bonus of $10 and in the process, lost about $72, at the end of it all, even after getting the bonus, I was still very angry at myself for being so stupid.

This is why I no longer care much about bonuses, most especially, the ones that come with wager requirements, though many still are very lucky as they get to win even bigger amount of money while chasing to meet a wager requirement to claim a bonus, but still, those who are unlucky still are unlucky.
I am with you on this, bonuses are what they say they are, they shouldn't be goals, just nice bonuses you can get when you play enough. Most of the bonuses i got i was surprised to get them. And i got them to the top of winning strike too. I find that trying to gamble because of the bonus is just an excuse i tell myself to gamble when i am losing. Fighting against that urge when you don't want to gamble is part of the game, and can feel pretty good when you have control over yourself.
2005  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Skill Based Slot Machines on: April 01, 2023, 09:36:27 PM
Today I am reading about skill based slot machines which is very popular among millennials. This is the first time I am reading this in my life as a gambler. All that I have known about slot machines is that the outcome is purely based on luck1 as a result of the Random number Generator (RGN). From what I read, the major difference between this skill based slot machines and the regular/traditional ones we know is that there is a bonus round for the players to2 display their skills which gives them a greater chance of winning. Despite this, the odds are still stacked up against the player.
Has anyone here tried it out?
Which do you prefer, traditional slots or skill-based slots?

1. http://bostonsportsextra.com/skill-based-slot-machines-what-are-they-and-how-they-work/
2. http://web.archive.org/slot1.sbs/76959.html
Article doesn't name one skill based slot so i am not aware of any of those. Can we try those out in any crypto casinos and could someone name one of the slots or slot provider that makes those?
But i remain skeptical. As you couldn't beat the house, otherwise they wouldn't be builded. That means that even with best outcome you would probably make less winnings then with some of the other slots out there. Those could be fun though.

In Finland we actually had physical slot machines in 80s that could be beaten by real skill, they were called payazzos. They were very difficult to beat but not impossible and technically you could have build a device that helps you but you couldn't use them without anyone noticing.
2006  Economy / Speculation / Re: The US government sold 9800 bitcoin on March 14 on: April 01, 2023, 09:33:55 PM
Well that seemed to have very small effect but didn't hurt the small bullrun to current value at all. Imho they timed it just perfectly. I hope that it will play out as well during next 3 patches.
I wonder if they are looking at the charts to decide when to sell or do they bother to do that. I am not even sure it would be lawful for them to do that as any kind of tactical manoeuvres could be counted as market manipulation from their part.

I guess that would have twice the effect if bitcoin would be twice as valuable.
2007  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you consider Bitcoin the best asset in the world? on: April 01, 2023, 11:54:14 AM
-cut-
By best asset I mean potential for long term return on investment versus potential for risk. Return vs risk.
-cut-
I would rather go and buy land and estate. Land is going to be scarcer as population grows and it's needed for every sector of life. It might not bring anything to me in my life time but it also could be worth more eventually.

That is if i want to invest safely, which i don't do in real life. In real life i don't trust just one asset. I buy and sell low caps as i don't have enough capital for huge purchases. Those have been very profitable to me. It's kind of like gambling as in small bets i can get huge rewards, but unlike in gambling i can sometimes be part of the team and work in grass root level.
2008  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: April 01, 2023, 11:40:05 AM
What does the Finnish perspective have to do with the Russian invasion of Ukraine? I am old-fashioned in forum discussions and I try to stick to the topic of the conversation indicated in the title, I also advise you not to produce offtopic here.

Update. Nevertheless, I will tell you what I think about the Finnish question. The year of the special operation in Ukraine clearly showed that NATO suffers from impotence and does not have the potential to resolve the conflict by force in the confrontation with anyone more serious than the partisans from the banana republic. NATO is overgrown with fat, soaked through with the ideas of transhumanism and neo-colonial guilt complexes. Even AUKUS is much more promising and combat-ready. Do you want to talk about it? Choose a more suitable topic and I am at your service.
-cut-
Off topic? Oh critizing your sources by saying that *insert any country* has pro russian news sites that have their own small following. How convenient that it's off topic to you. Like posting fake news from fringe Georgian news sites isn't that?

You are probably right, the Russians fired six uninterceptable hypersonic missiles at a non-existent bunker. What a ridiculous and stupid show of force. Grin
And just by inserting word NATO in your fake news doesn't make it linked to NATO.
But i guess it's all natos and nazis in your book. No proof needed. So in your case you are either to being lied to or you are lying yourself, i would go for latter as you are playing for Putin here.
2009  Other / Meta / Re: New CAPTCHA now required before posting on: April 01, 2023, 10:45:42 AM
Well it's better then GTA4. When i timed my bird movements just correctly i found the secret level where i could talk with the founder and got in to play the real game.
But don't think my computer can run it correctly, i get weird these weird glitches when ever gods are speaking to me.
Physics engine really kicks ass on the city mission where the tsunami hits to white house, and AI was acting so human like it freaked me out a little bit when it knew what i was thinking but in overall it was greatest experience of gaming history i ever had. I am not going to post screehots as that was permitted but what a ride!!
I can't wait to talk with people who found it.

2010  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong - Embracing crypto, new acceptance mode, $100 mln raiser on: April 01, 2023, 10:34:26 AM
I wonder what's their stance is going to be against mining as that's an essential part of some crypto infrastructure. Or are they just now fully embracing and regulating any other then POW based cryptos?
I could definitely see them fighting against any permissionless systems and use environmental argument to drive POW away. Later on they can move to other arguments where they regulate away any unwanted people (criminals, opposition, etc)
2011  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 31, 2023, 06:52:05 PM
Who are "we"? Do you represent here some group of people with formed common interests, or are you just talking about yourself in the plural?
Or maybe you're pregnant and there are two of you?
If you had use a minute to think about it you would know i would speak about Finnish perspective. But it's quite telling that you rather focus on irrelevant stuff when you know you would fail miserably defending your position otherwise.
2012  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 31, 2023, 01:46:11 PM
It's could be kind of cute how you guys believe anything pro-putler in the internet.
If you followed the link in my previous message, you would see that this is some kind of Greek resource, not Russian. Of course, you can always say that this is a pro-Russian Greek resource, simply because you don't like its content - and this is a common practice. But in this case, I want to ask you, but you yourself are not a victim of propaganda that is simply directed against Russia? Grin

The truth is not always pleasant, and if you reject everything that does not fit into your worldview, then you are living a lie.
Oh yeah, we have pro russian "news sites" too, but we also have enough education to tell the difference between trustworthy sites and utter garbage.
But if i print a pro putin zine with a vague article about secret moon trans nazis, you would use it as a source, wouldn't you.

Funny enough pronews has same exact % of weekly usage that pro russia fake news site has in finland

2013  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Investment: Good Debts vs Bad Debts on: March 31, 2023, 11:27:00 AM
There are bad debts and there are good debts. Bad debts- loaning money to buy a car that won't be used for business ( Uber, Bolt). Loaning money to buy a pair of shoes, clothes, a piece of furniture etc.
I see some of these things as profitable investments as well, buying good shoes is just benefiting someone's health and so he/she can work more efficiently. And when they are good enough, they can be repaired and by doing that the, this person saves money. Investment doesn't need to pay back directly, we also need people to be able to enjoy enough to be able to work.

Good debts - loaning money to purchase something that would appreciate in value over time. Real estate, precious metals, commodities etc.
Depends. It wasn't a good idea to buy estate from invaded areas of Ukraine for example. precious metals you have to store in somewhere and be sure that place is guarded well enough.

They say poor people have bad debts and rich  people have good debts.
I would say this is just simplifying things. Investing in general is wise, but that doesn't mean every method of investing suits everyone.

One of the popular pieces of advice you'd hear in the Bitcoin space is to never borrow to invest in it.

Despite the volatility, our hope is that Bitcoin will appreciate in value.
This is why we invest literally in anything. But we shouldn't be only focusing on investing in monetary value. Investing life worth living is valuable as well.

Would you classify borrowing money to invest in Bitcoin as good debt or bad debt?
I wouldn't borrow money for investing in something as volatile as Bitcoin, no. I would use my own money and not be greedy wanting more then i can afford.
2014  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Biden and Trump argue over bank failure on: March 31, 2023, 11:09:57 AM
The recent banking crisis in the US involving the fall of the prestigious banks like silicon valley bank(SVB),signature bank, and silvergate
Bank have spurred a political discussion between US president Joe biden and former US president Donald trump. They have publicly blamed each other's policies for the outcome, but according to some analysts, the problem might be ignorance in the banking system.
While Donald trump have bodly declared that biden is responsible for the economic catastrophe that has befallen the country.
What do you think about the responsibilities of biden, trump and the banking operators for the current banking crisis?
I think there is a mix up somewhere...please mates let's share ideas.
So is Trump complaining that Biden didn't put make new regulations fast enough after Trump removed them? I mean trump removed those safeguards that oversee banks exactly for preventing something like this. It's faster to get rid of regulations then make new ones that are airtight. And Trump did ton of rollbacks affecting all areas from life to tech and nature.

Even a toaster would have done less damage to US and world as a president.
2015  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: March 31, 2023, 10:44:58 AM
Meanwhile, there are some details of Russia's "retribution strike" that it inflicted immediately after the sabotage of pro-Ukrainian militants in the Belgorod region with hostage-taking.

Quote
The Russian hypersonic missile "Dagger" with a target hitting speed of Mach 12 (12 times the speed of sound) managed to hit the joint Ukrainian-NATO command and communications center installed at a depth of 130 meters!

The underground headquarters (built at a depth of 400 feet) housed several NATO officials and reportedly housed over 300 people.

Of course, we will never know the details of the incident, because no one recognizes the presence of these NATO officials in Ukraine at that moment.
It's could be kind of cute how you guys believe anything pro-putler in the internet. No proof needed because when it supports your agenda and any shady website or rumor will do. And just because some part of the news is true, most of it doesn't have to be.

Or could it be that you are not believing that either and this is just part of that transparent Russian misinformation campaign to muddle reality so that people wouldn't trust any source.
I understand that tactic as it's designed to hurt democracies but dictatorships like Putler's Russia are resistant to it as they don't really do well with real information anyway.

Now i say it could be cute how gullible some people are believing Kremlin propaganda but but guess why these people are hated by everyone?
After all they themselves might not understand why people get heated over this, they see themselves as outsider as they are not being affected, but that's understandable when one lacks empathy.
But while they are knowingly spreading Russian misinformation they are directly part of Kremlin organized disinformation warfare therefore responsible of the atrocities that Russian armed forces are doing.

Next what's going to happen is that Russian economy is going to crumble (Even Putin knows it) and after Russian dictatorship will fall, their murderers and rapists will face justice. I only wish that some of these Russian trolls could be charged as well as when they are citizens of other countries, what they are doing now is a borderline treason.

And meanwhile Finland is just joining NATO. All thanks to Putin as before all this we were never wanted to.
2016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crazy Time by Evolution Gaming - Discussion, Strategy, etc. on: March 31, 2023, 09:14:34 AM
I don't feel like that game is provably fair. I'm not saying users will never win, but is really hard to see some big wins. I don't feel the RTP is 97.3 as they claim.

For me it feels like they can stop the wheel when they want and select the result from the back end, maybe I'm just too paranoid but that's the sensation I have after playing a lot of hours on that game.

Is about joining at the right time and placing the right bet, another way you could be there for hours losing all your balance.
Why would they risk doing that when they can rely on pure math giving them profits in the long run? I mean i understand that people want more proof especially when it looks like game could cheat them, but by doing so they would be risking their whole legitimacy, and it's not like they haven't been building that trust for a long time.

If they would be cheating all it would take is one person who could spill the beans and take the whole operation down that they have been building for so long. And its not like that person would need to do that for free. I am assuming that there's ton of competition that would pay millions just for anonymous leak of proof.

And that said, i don't believe they are cheating but i admit that there could be always more transparency and proof for customers.
2017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Arb below 1$ on: March 30, 2023, 09:39:08 PM
Well good luck with that approach. I am dca:ing in all the time. I think that after airdropped tokens sell pressure is off this token is going to fight from some serious marketcap top places. I am thinking 10x minimum. Like absolute minimum and i am not even selling then. I am also considering leverage trading this. This is like the first token in a long time i actually like and believe in. And i feel i am now junxing it by talking about it Smiley.
2018  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price Predictions? on: March 30, 2023, 05:47:05 PM

The market changes so quickly, it won't wait for us to come to invest. The lowest price after the bullrun was (±) $16,600 on January 4, 2023. And the current price has reached (±) $28,387. According to my predictions, by April 2023 the Bitcoin price could reach (±) $35,000.
If April 2023 the Bitcoin price can reach $35,000, then it is very likely that a bullrun will occur in April 2024.

What do you think about this?

Well i might join on that prediction as that definitely looks like a bull flag. But it's hard to say if it's going to retrace after hitting your target. (i am thinking of elliot wave as that wiould be the 3rd rise). But in overall that it would be obviously bound to rise again higher later this year.

I'm with binance's zao on the 100x the next bull, but Im rooting for a 200k mark value till December 2023, little more then hundred but not the millions yet, balanced.
Do you have any technical analysis behind this or is it just a feeling?
2019  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto traders beaten by girls on: March 30, 2023, 05:33:03 PM
"Singaporean women ‘outperforming’ men in crypto trades, survey reveals"
https://cointelegraph.com/news/singaporean-women-outperforming-men-in-crypto-trades-survey-reveals

The dawn of mankind is officially here. A recent poll from Singapore revealed that women managed to outperform men in the manliest games of all - crypto trading:
"As per the survey data, 76% of women reported either making money or breaking even on their crypto investments, compared to just 72% of men"

Since it looks like the answers were self-reported, there's a chance that women may not be telling the truth, to make themselves look better. But maybe there's something in the female approach to trading that would explain it (i.e. higher risk aversion?).
Topic of OP makes it sound like these women wouldn't be crypto traders. That only men are crypto traders. I know that it might not be intented so but wording is weird.
I seriously wonder why people think that this is "manliest" game of all. I know several women that are investing and trading that are actually doing better than me

And like the data shows there are ton of women players in this game

This might have started as a male game but it's totally not that anymore. And unless you think they are kids you can call them women vs men.
Also it would be nice to have data about actual research about this rather then news of hear say from the net
2020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your opinions of future in Crypto with AI technology? on: March 30, 2023, 05:15:09 PM
AI is the biggest thing that we all faced in 2023 I think. With chatgpt it became everyone attention. I have seen lot of crypto projects that are marketing they are using AI technologies in their projects. So what do you think about this? Are they really using AI or is it for market themselves? Because I don't find anything about AI technologies that they are talking In their websites or whitepapers.

Do you suggest me good projects that using AI technologies for study? What is in your bucket list and what are your opinions about AI + Crypto in future?
It's definitely just a marketing tactic. Most of those projects are not going to deliver anything even mediocre if anything. They drive on buzz words and promises and eventually blame others for not adopting their tech that isn't wanted or needed anyway. New people don't remember but we already have seen this hype years ago in crypto. None of those projects that were working on AI didn't provide anything, or anything interesting. And i am not saying there wouldn't be people working hard to build some cutting edge AI, but i am saying it's unlikely it will have anything to do with crypto.
