2021  Economy / Speculation / Re: How it will go to $0 again? on: February 01, 2016, 03:59:21 PM
Tell you what OP, I'll pay a penny for every bitcoin in existence. Now it won't drop to zero and you can get some sleep.  Cheesy
2022  Economy / Speculation / Re: Aren't we in a state of denial? (MARKET CYCLE UPDATED, VOTES RESET) on: February 01, 2016, 03:22:27 PM
As more and more time passes by I think we're all in denial.  The trend is now down.

When the Bitcoin Core decides to adopt higher block size, the price will rise dramatically. It will be at least $600.
I think that is a huge factor right now. The community's inability to come to a consensus on block size is a worrying sign for the year ahead. If we do come to ANY change then I think it will send buy signals.
2023  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price go up or down over the next year? on: January 29, 2016, 02:48:22 PM
Yes. I think it will go up and down in the next year. It always has.

Emotion may be a big influence on some, but I never trade on emotion. It's really my edge to avoid bringing superstition, fear, and euphoria into my mathematical decisions.

What is your rate?
Who is the escrow?
You will always need to include this information.

Well, in truth it could be changed. However the voting in the link above shows how popular an idea that would be.
2027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lead developer quits bitcoin saying it 'has failed' on: January 27, 2016, 08:51:51 PM
Mike failed. Bitcoin moves on.
I heard Mike failed because he's not backed by anything! And he's a ponzi!!!  Cheesy

lol, na. Best of luck Mike.  Wink
2028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is unsustainable, according to Vice on: January 27, 2016, 08:47:15 PM
It's so much greener to put a check in the mail so that it can be driven to the recipient. The recipient can then drive it to the bank and the bank can fire up their computer and enter the data.  Roll Eyes

Actually yeah, by far.  Let me break it down for you:
An average block contains 2.7 * (takes 600 seconds to mine a block) = 1620 transactions. At most (some blocks are mined empty, as in "no* transactions).
For this, miners receive 25 BTC, which, at current rate, is roughly 12,000 dollars.
Meaning ~$7.40 PER TX.
Assuming that 1/3 of that is electrical cost (let's be generous), that's about $2.50 in energy cost, PER TRANSACTION.

Unless you think US Post Office is spending $2.50 in gas alone to deliver a check...

Hmmm. That is interesting. I would have thought actual delivery would be much more inefficient. But $2.50 per Tx is a lot. I wonder how miners can be profitable charging only pennies per Tx?

2030  Economy / Economics / Re: Could US Bitcoin survive a Trump presidency on: January 22, 2016, 09:03:08 PM
I don't think that there is any president, dictator, prime minister, or leader of any sort from any country that could do anything that bitcoin would not be able to survive.
I agree with you. Despite the thousands of posts I have seen warning of a "takeover" of BTC, not a single one of them includes a plausible method of doing it. Until I see that I have no real concern.
2031  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I want to buy a prepaid Visa/Mastercard but what about billing information? on: January 22, 2016, 05:36:28 PM
It might be a LOT easier and safer to just spend the bitcoin on stuff you were going to buy anyway. Tens of thousands of places take it now.
But what i'm buying is advertising from a specific advertising network and their minimum deposit is 50$. They also do not accept Bitcoin Sad
Ah, well that's a good reason then. In that case you may be able to find a seller of "Vanilla" visa/mastercards. But you should proceed with caution. While there are no rules with bitcoin there are many, many rules about using the system owned by the banks. This lack of clarity is exploited by criminals and it is unlikely that the issuing bank or the police are going to help you if you are scammed. bitcoin is easy to use online (I only use bitcoin online), but switching back and forth with fiat currency can be difficult and expensive. Banks also must follow AML/KYC rules that require them to know your identity and track your movements of money.

2033  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price of BTC? on: January 22, 2016, 04:31:10 PM
IMO, only the open market can determine the "true" price.
2034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recent wallet change issue on: January 22, 2016, 04:27:39 PM
Yeah man. You are going to have to be very specific about what your situation is. We have no idea what service you mean.  Huh

Meanwhile in the real world people are saying.  " That's interesting, we really should consider how unsafe bank software is. But hey, do you know where I can get some bitcoins?"

Tainted coins are evil, that's why I don't use dollars.  Wink

You will also want to get prepared by learning how to secure your coins. It can get confusing, and there is NO OTHER SECURITY beyond what you implement. The most important thing to keep in mind concerns your private keys. If you have a backup then most everything is fixable. Without it there is no hope at all. So protect those keys like the money they are!
2038  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dead Cat Bounce on: January 22, 2016, 03:00:27 PM
Your definition forgot to mention that the cat must die. Stocks die when underfunded, bitcoin does not. If you want to determine if this is a dead cat bounce then you are going to have to wait until bitcoin is dead, as it can only be defined in retrospect.

P.s. I have not tested this, but I assume that live cats also bounce.
2039  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ToominCoin aka "Bitcoin_Classic" #R3KT on: January 21, 2016, 09:26:40 PM
...
I understand that my statement will naturally be unpopular and sound elitist... but do you really want people voting on fundamental protocol changes within an implementations when they don't know much about the technical ramifications and consider.it has no preventing a "sybil attack" on those votes with individuals of malicious intent to our ecosystem.

I am not attacking Michale or the consider.it site . I think it is a useful tool and have said and will continue to say that people like
Jonathan Toomim, Gavin Andresen, Jeff Garzik, Olivier Janssens, Roger Ver are not only intelligent, capable , but individuals I respect.

This doesn't change the fact that the idea of basing governance of protocol changes with consider.it is absolutely insane and dangerous.

I do also understand your position. It is the hard challenge of coming to a census that includes some really ridiculous ideas and characters. Unfortunately I have no good ideas myself. But I am still optimistic that what we are going through will eventually yield fruit. Perhaps we will even invent a new model of distributed agreement?
As much as I also wince at the idea of input from truly ignorant participants, I just can't shake the feeling that letting the "experts" decide will lead to an unholy end.
I watched the Bitcoin Foundation fall apart for many of the same reasons. Everything from people joining specifically to destroy the organization to people joining to enrich themselves.

The real vote comes as individuals choose the fork they want. God help us all, lol.
2040  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 30 BTC on: January 21, 2016, 09:14:01 PM
If I agree with what I say, I was warned in advance that these loans are more personal and more difficult to convince, but hey thanks for the comments in a world almost without laws in the bitcoin is dificl trust a new user.

Now as I can remove this post?

Seeketh how to get those missing me btc

And really thank you for letting me know how much caution should maintain in this world bitcoin
It's not you. A lot of mistrust has built up over time because most loan requests are a scam. Try substituting BTC for $. If I asked you for $30,000 without providing any identity or any way to assure that you will be repaid, would you give me the money? Because that is what you are asking.
To get that kind of loan from me I would require the title to your new car or the deed to your home. Collateral that is larger than the loan principal + the expected profit.
