The worst part of all of this, BFL might end up having the most efficient chip around -.-

1 year later and with 0 availability and with their past customer experience...thx but no.
2042  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 24, 2014, 03:57:20 PM
They have to offer full refunds; unless they offer 10% refund for 10% speed reduction I guess?

More importantly their power spec is going to be screwed; I always said 0.34 W/GH/s was going to be ball crap even at chip... does this make Neptune the most efficient ASIC chip?

Not to mention their 2x1200w PSU somehow delivering 2500w nominal power 24/7.

u27

I don't want a full refund and I'm sure that a big part of the customers are the same. As for Neptune being the most efficient ASIC chips we don't have final numbers yet, but at least the SP30 are available while the neptune are very scarce.

Edit: If you find your miner in the active miners tab at the link below you can see your estimated effective hash rate which will help you to get an idea of your luck compared with your actual hash rate:

http://minefast.coincadence.com/p2pool-stats.php

Not sure I get this part. Let's say p2pool doesn't find a block for 7 straight days (I hope I wont jinx it). My estimated effective hashrate goes very very down and I will get my share of the 25 BTC when a block is found based on the tiny effective hashrate right?
2044  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [600 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 24, 2014, 01:09:53 PM
This may have been answered in the past, but I can't keep track of the whole thread so I will ask again.

I'm having 5.5Th/s mining on a p2pool node and my predicted payout is at 0.11. Someone else with 4Th/s at Eligius has a 0.11 payout per day. Eligius is giving me the average number while the p2pool is giving me the "live" payout taking into consideration other factors like luck? Thx.
2045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 24, 2014, 12:31:17 PM
well sp30's hit a snag...so this will tell if a) Spondoolies really is aggressive on market share and future customers/satisfaction/fairness as they have stated and offer
more hash/refunds/or whatever to solve this problem they have with Sp30's not getting the hash they expected
or
they will go the other more common route and stall/make excuses/and allow no refunds or some other method to keep as much $$$ in their hands

They already said that they are looking into compensation plans so I don't see how can they allow no refunds. Just a couple more days of wait.
2046  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: July 24, 2014, 12:26:26 PM
I bought a $100,000 joke. Again.

At this point I just don't believe that you have bought SP30s worth of $100k. You seem to be the only customer that can't wait a few more days for final specs.

Edit:
On another note I discovered why I made the mistake:
Oh dear god! It's PH not TH. 30THs is just 5 (or 6) SP30s.

On my! What a stupid typo. Long day...

It was kendog77 that tricked me

I strongly suspect the 30TH was caused by variance and by Bitmain manufacturing...

Notice the title of the thread change from the best W/GH, best price to
-carrier grade, data center ready

It is about time, hell my S3's are almost a week old  Grin

I did test 0.7W/GH on an SP10 unit.

Oh dear god! It's PH not TH. 30THs is just 5 (or 6) SP30s.

Also, as has happened with others, there just arent enough margins to give everyone more hardware to compensate.  Its not like these things have 100% margin so you cant just double up the supply.  Those days are long gone (avalon maybe even kncminer had great margins, the first time around... but the more recent asic companies have operated on much slimmer margins... and their costs are high because every part theyve ordered has to be on a 'rush' schedule which means everything costs a lot more than if you could give the suppliers the usual 12 weeks to source the parts (an eternity in bitcoinland)

Thank you for another insight on why are pre-orders needed for a new company that already invested in 2 mask sets and on parts for their gen1 miners.

please explain what you mean (and who?) .. im not getting your inference.

Your statement show that I'm not the only one thinking that securing components from time is better than waiting for chips and then buying them from stock.

Do you need to buy pcbs, components, and server psus months in advance? I'm sure they are a few other components that have long lead times but I really doubt the majority do.

As a customer I prefer them to secure the components in advance than to take the risk to buy them from stock when they could be unavailable.

Couple days (From YOUR quote) is not within 2 weeks...  Think before you speak please...  I don't doubt they will be here before the 9th, but AFTER the news today you made that post.  Bitcoinarama says what?

No need to quote my full post.

Ok a maximum of 2 weeks seems reasonable considering the latest news and it's still on time for their August batch so I'm happy!
2052  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 23, 2014, 09:39:05 PM
You are mistaking SP-Tech with BFL.

I can very well differentiate BFL from SP-Tech and have said that SP-Tech have an amazing product with SP10.

If each chip pulls double the wattage that it was supposed to, do you think they made sure that the copper layers in the PCB can handle the extra load? Can the rest of the components handle the extra load?

The may not need "Two Weeks" as BFL did to redesign a PCB board 50 times, but it has not been ruled out.

I find hard to believe that each chip will pull double the wattage, but we will see.

there are a lot of hardware in hand with specs reached Smiley
i was not scammed by any company, i dont buy preorders,
only hardware in hand, used or new.

How many W are you using per month?

now as kendog77 mentions  the s-3 can be undervolted.
so a s-3 which runs at  .75 watts doing 430gh   pulling 323 watts.
may be  able to do 400gh at 240 watts say .6 watts.
the sp30 camp will be hurt.  well the preorder/btc only  order model  needs to be put to rest and the silver lining here may be  people stop buying that way.

But I like/want bigger miners, not ants. I want big ass Hulk miners!

I can't wait for Roadstress to review his unit Friday or Monday since is he so confident he will have his in a couple of days.  By then we will have official updated specs from SP and an in hand unit that Roadstress will hopefully give a full right up about.

Considering the latest news and the fact that they need to plan more things than before I am expecting my July unit to be in my hands before or on 9 August yes  Cool

sorry to dissapoint you but there will be delays.
due to underperforming/unstable chips/bad pcb
it can take 2 weeks or more to solve that
also airport is closed due to war.

i think august delivery will end up day before september shipping... or 2 weeks later

YOU will be the one that is disappointed. 9 August!
2053  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 23, 2014, 08:38:45 PM
SP-Tech says delivery dates will not be impacted. This means that hashrate will be constained by the 2400W power envelope; power supplies have already been qualified.

So if, for example, the chip needs 0.8W/GH at the system level then the SP30 will be a 3TH/s box drawing 2400W. If it is 0.6W/GH then you can have 4TH/s in the same box.

The SP10 PSU is running at a nice overhead. I'm expecting SP30 PSU to be able to deliver more than 2400W.

They may or may not need a pcb redesign, guess we'll find out soon enough.

You are mistaking SP-Tech with BFL.
2054  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 23, 2014, 07:17:32 PM
There was 30PH that came online earlier this week...  Something is coming soon...

There is no way to determine the network total hashrate either than just looking at block generation speed and those 30PH might be just variance. Why would anyone bring online 30PH to just shut it down immediately? It makes no sense.

I strongly suspect the 30TH was caused by variance and by Bitmain manufacturing, testing, and shipping S3s. Keep in mind that S3s add to the network hashrate when they are being tested, but then get turned off for a couple of days while they are being shipped all around the world.

I don't think Bitmain sold mining hardware worth of ~30M$ and it seems impossible for them to just build that amount of hardware. Also it seems hard to believe that they have the capacity to bring 30TH/s 30PH/s online all at once. Mass deployment isn't that easy at it seems and bringing online ~40k-50k S3s seems very unlikely to me.

And so it begins (well...with this BS hardware vendor).

I got railed for calling out this CO. and the people stepping on women and children to line up for these bullshit non existent pieces of hardware and now gee...guess fucking what?  THEY WON'T EVER DELIVER.

This will not end until the mining community stops giving unknown random people on the Internet millions of dollars based on nothing more than an empty promise.

I am expecting apologies for your retardness when I will get my SP30 in a couple of days.

But it will be way under hash rate, way over power, way later than expected.  We've all seen this story over, and over again.  Spondoolies isn't unique in thinking they could do the job - what is unique is their supreme confidence in bragging about being able to deliver.  Now, we see the exact same problem the others had, 'we are going to spend a few days looking at the data'.  This is precisely the step BFL took upon firing up their new systems.

Why are you trolling now? We need to wait a few more days for the final specs and you claim to be way way way. How do you know how much under hashrate it will be or how much over power it will be? You don't, but you are making lame accusations and you are comparing to a company that had a delay over 9 months. They said that the shipping dates aren't affected, only performance.

Edit: I do expect jimmothy to come and troll here and I understand him (he needs something to not think about his dividends), but you I don't understand.

On another note it seems like the difficulty is giving us a nice surprise:

Spondoolies Tech:
"We will deliver.  Trust us, we are different.  We will deliver.  We are not like them.  It is certain we will deliver.  For sure we will deliver.  We are not like them, we will deliver"  ---  "Oh, wait a minute, we didn't expect this..."

Just like the others.  Promise, promise, promise - Ooops!

But they will deliver!
2058  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: July 23, 2014, 06:05:26 PM
Hmm about that refund jk , I paid for a phantom 6TH miner i guess  I bet we will be lucky if they hash at 3-4 TH at this point.  Suspending sales is a pretty big step which could mean the hash rates are SIGNIFICANTLY lower than expectations.

I believe in Spondoolies and I want them to succeed so I am not worried they will do right by their customers.

Thanks for the early update Corem.

Just as Biodom stated I would withhold commenting before we have final specs. Suspending sales seems the appropriate move when you know that you have an issue, but you don't know the final specs which can't that bad as you presented them. Let's just wait a couple more days.

@Collider I don't think that it's possible to use more chips because more chips would mean extra PCBs and extra components too.

we are temporarily suspending sales of the SP 30 mining rigs.

Sales are stopped so no more GB. This can be closed I guess.
