Go check the S3 thread.
The 30% of the S3 underperform to less than 400Ghs.

Ask myself also, I bought 20 of them.

All is Mine!

And so it begins (well...with this BS hardware vendor).

I got railed for calling out this CO. and the people stepping on women and children to line up for these bullshit non existent pieces of hardware and now gee...guess fucking what?  THEY WON'T EVER DELIVER.

This will not end until the mining community stops giving unknown random people on the Internet millions of dollars based on nothing more than an empty promise.

Come on now, SP-T has given us much more than promises. I have been running their SP10's for months now, they were delivered on time and in Great working order. They have supported the SP10 with several firmware updates and community support. WE, BTC miners and the manufacturers building for US, are pushing the envelope so no surprise we fall short, Hell I can not even dunk...

Anyway pre-order is DEAD!..  WE need to share in the rewards as WE are always left with the check.

IMNSHO of course..

Also, the companies who have already produced asics in a previous generation (kncminer, bitfury etc).. have already amassed huge cash piles, both of dollars, and bitcoins... and have the firepower needed to do their next asic without requiring huge pre-orders from punters.    Also, some companies are raising external money from VCs or investors.  Some may even IPO..!    The irony is that the only way that customers can guarantee a supply of bitcoin miners is to pre-order them... because the companies that dont need pre-orders and can already afford to pay for their own NRE and production are the companies that can afford to build their own private mines and not ever need the hassle of taking customer money and all the associated customer support overheads.  an asic company that doesnt have a customer support department is a tiny fraction of the size of one that has lots of customers!

Are you kidding us???

Knc did not require preorders to build their huge datafarms?

Be serious man.

KnC were the first to have a high end asic (28nm), and were taking pre-orders in June 2013, with deliveries starting in september.  they took huge pre-orders.. and continued selling from stock after deliveries arrived.  they had the benefit of being one of the first large scale companies who got most things right, and they were early enough to have very good margins.  they were selling at $17/GH.  Compare that to Spondoolies who are selling the SP30 at less than $1/GH !   the costs arent significantly different so they had a huge margin advantage.  Spondoolies is operating with MUCH slimmer margins than KnC was operating at when it launched the jupiter (and even neptune)

then they delivered more or less on time with something that was more or less what people thought they were getting, so they got a lot of goodwill (and plenty of cash).   When it came time for them to do pre-orders for neptune, they had significant goodwill and a rising bitcoin price meant people were eager to place big ticket pre-orders.   for neptune, customer pre-orders helped them underwrite their production costs... but if they didnt have pre-orders they wouldve still been able to build a pretty sizeable private mine.. just maybe not as big as it is now.

Yeah I know, had to clean them up, reflash in some cases. I found that "reboot" in ssh was doing weird things to, so reboot thru the gui and it improved also. Hands down SP10 is world class, real treat to walk into the DC with, I was not knocking SP shit is on the knifes edge with mining, just plain stupid to expect anything else.

I can agree 100% Pre-Order is dead, the plateau is on the horizon...

When people stop sending pre-order money then it will be dead. Until that time comes it will continue.

There was 30PH that came online earlier this week...  Something is coming soon...

There is no way to determine the network total hashrate either than just looking at block generation speed and those 30PH might be just variance. Why would anyone bring online 30PH to just shut it down immediately? It makes no sense.

I strongly suspect the 30TH was caused by variance and by Bitmain manufacturing, testing, and shipping S3s. Keep in mind that S3s add to the network hashrate when they are being tested, but then get turned off for a couple of days while they are being shipped all around the world.

I don't think Bitmain sold mining hardware worth of ~30M$ and it seems impossible for them to just build that amount of hardware. Also it seems hard to believe that they have the capacity to bring 30TH/s online all at once. Mass deployment isn't that easy at it seems and bringing online ~40k-50k S3s seems very unlikely to me.

I am expecting apologies for your retardness when I will get my SP30 in a couple of days.

Oh dear god! It's PH not TH. 30THs is just 5 (or 6) SP30s.

Whilst this is not the best of news, you have to hand it to Guy for being honest and upfront once the problem was discovered, many companies wouldn't have been so quick.

I think Guy is just winding you guys up ! After all, when he said

We are committed to deliver the miners on time and according to the published spec. You can take this uncertainty out of the equation.

I was sure nothing could go wrong with the SP-30 pre-order.

Then, after this announcement

As you know, Spondoolies-Tech is committed to delivering superior products and the highest levels of customer service and support. That’s why I wanted to communicate with you as early as possible about a concern we've identified with our new ASIC and mining rigs.

I was sure he had a good sense of humor !

Ok, we are all laughing now. Tell us it is a joke please and that the SP30 has actually EXCEEDED expectations.

Love the theory! He winds-up the masses and generates a lot of buzz. And then in 2 days comes back to say, "oh nevermind, we've managed to meet our estimates after quickly fixing some major issues." They'll be heroes in the community, if true.

Oh don't start this again! Lol. It didn't work for the KNC Neptune cheerleaders either. I read some posts from clueless dudes thinking they were going to get 12THs Neptunes (two 6THs units). They sure got quiet fast when KNC started shipping.  Wink

It will be interesting to see if the SP30 can match the KncMiner Neptune and Bitmain S3 power efficiency of ~.7W/GH.

Also, I'm sure Bitmain could create a S4 and run their BM1382 chip at a lower clock speed to get far better power efficiency than .7W/GH. They did the same thing with the BM1380 in the S2 and got twice the power efficiency versus the S1.

S3 is 0.8 W/GH, with more accuracy it is 0.79 W/GH which is very good but not quite 0.7 W/GH the S4 may may that honor if they use lower voltage and more chips, it is possible it may do a lot better than that, if we take into consideration the proportions, the S1 was 2 W/GH, and the S2 using the same chips was about 1 W/GH almost 50% reductions which is impressive, so theoretical it would be possible to have an S4 at .4 W/GH but like the S2 I hope they do not ruin the BTC per hash ratio since the S2 was to expensive to ROI, it made the S1 the best seller, which it is now the S3.

the neptune does 0.7W/GH is is pretty bad since it is 20nm you would spec it to do better, and also the price per GH leaves a lot to be desire, and unlike the S3 which plays it on the safe side by having 4 pci-e connectors, the neptune has only one.

it is also good to point out that knc failed their customers big time after the jupiter delivery, a lot of promises were broken, refunds for btc took on average 2 months, for wire took 3 months, the hash while you wait was sabotaged by the free neptune, and so on. Definitely not as bad as BFL, BFL is the worst. They even sold used equipment to super jupiter customers.
knc has never sold from stock, they always sold pre orders.

As a lesson to be learned it is good to stay away from all pre orders, we should limit ourselves to only buy from stock not pre orders.

friedcat promised 0.3W/GH and it turned to be 1.1W/GH/Wall

your results missed expectations by big margin or small ?

thanks

Why would you compare those two numbers? AM don't even produce consumer hardware.
If I recall correctly, at chip level AM Gen3 sim result was announced to be 0.35W/GH and actual performance was tested at 0.70W/GH (at the same clock speed).

Anyway, Guy is often making snide remarks about AM and the under spec. performance of Gen3, so hopefully the rockerbox won't underperform by that margin or he'll look a bit silly.

You are mistaking SP-Tech with BFL.

I can very well differentiate BFL from SP-Tech and have said that SP-Tech have an amazing product with SP10.

If each chip pulls double the wattage that it was supposed to, do you think they made sure that the copper layers in the PCB can handle the extra load? Can the rest of the components handle the extra load?

The may not need "Two Weeks" as BFL did to redesign a PCB board 50 times, but it has not been ruled out.

From all your helpful advice that you are posting here, I take it you see that the HF chips are now increasing in value?

strange is no official response there at forum,
no response from ticket system/www form,
customer service is not responding...

after getting millions of dollars from preorders they have stopped any communication.

another case of miners screwed by preorders?

why not to buy from stock?

Patient please, we're busy.

Guy

Don't worry. Your miners will arrive on time and on spec.
Unfortunately, this is the same thing CoinTerra, KnC, BFL all said.  It has about the same meaning as 'the check is in the mail!'
lol!

Spondoolies said with supreme confidence - they would deliver on time and on spec.  Well, unless something doesn't go right that is.  joke.

I bought a $100,000 joke. Again.  There is no need to trust these guys.  Words are cheap.  Its the guy who sends the money that gets screwed every time.  Spondoolies will say anything.

I actually believed it would be a Hamas missile that would ruin this deal.  Up to the very end, I didn't think it would be technical incompetence which would end up spoiling everything.  What a royal pig fuck.  Lies, lies, then more lies.

Seriously, we know what we're doing.
The ASICs will arrive on time, working. SP30 will be delivered on time and on spec.

Seriously, we know what we're doing - we're fucking the customers with even more lies!!!
