2081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good choice buying Litecoin? on: December 12, 2017, 02:01:39 AM
Buying after it goes up 40% is certainly not a good idea, unless you evaluate the coin and dont think it will tank. However I am thinking a correct will be due, and then at that point I will buy some more.
2082  Economy / Economics / Re: Remember when this looked like the end of the world? on: December 12, 2017, 01:58:35 AM
It is easy to say bitcoin is amazing when you see the current price of it. If you could predict the price back then, you would be a millionaire today. And maybe even in the hundreds of millionaires. Not many people saw the magnitude or with there risk investment strategy they sold some. ( Which from the current price today is a obvious mistake. )

You can like something, but unevaluate it.
2083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Last Activity Of Satoshi Nakamoto on: December 12, 2017, 01:46:31 AM
This is really cool, so tomorrow marks the day he "disappeared". Maybe I will buy some bitcoin tomorrow in celebration.
2084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Could Enjin coin reach a $100m Market Cap?? on: December 12, 2017, 01:30:03 AM
$.04 right now so it is closing in on the pre sale price. Hopefully it will get to $.05 again and not burn people who invested in the ICO. Who here is holding?

I'm holding, but this is not because I'm a fan of enjin, this is only because I don't like selling tokens with loss. I'll hold until I get rid of this loss, once I get break even point, I'll sell it directly.

That is a good idea, especially if you use good risk management with your portfolio. I typically invest enough to where I wont be upset with a loss, and then that forces me to really never sell at a loss. However some times when I reevaluate it is hard to get away from a hold.
2085  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ripple ( XRP ) a good way to go right now? on: December 12, 2017, 01:28:07 AM
My biggest problem with Ripple is that the company owns so much of it and could easily kill the whole project. Not that they would, but it is possible. And with my risk management I am not willing to take that risk, and I would suggest you dont.
2086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How big of a role does privacy play? on: December 12, 2017, 01:17:24 AM
I just find it very interesting that for alot of people privacy is very high on there list of needs for crypto. But yet the real "privacy" coins are only a small percent of the crypto currency market cap. With technology advancing, I would not be surprised if governments could just plug in your address and find out who owns it in a  matter of minutes. ( Assuming you bought the coins on a site like coinbase, that keeps track of your transactions and requires Identity. )

2088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had just hodl my bitcoins back a couple of months ago instead of trading on: December 11, 2017, 07:55:43 PM
its not a good investment strategy to simply hold.
It really depends on what you're holding.  Many of the most successful investors have primarily got to where they are by investing in low-risk, low-reward investments and just holding them for many years (like Warren Buffet for example).

In Bitcoin's case, it's an even better choice to just hold if you're not much of a trader, because it's extremely difficult to predict the future prices when the primary basis for recent price has been speculation rather than usage.
why didn't I hodl my bitcoins?
You need to be questioning why you bought back in as much as why you sold.  Both were equally emotionally charged decisions.

Holding is not a good strategy in general. Holding something for the sake of holding is not a good strategy and that is not debatable. Warren buffet has nothing to do with what I was saying, he "holds" but only because he is constantly re-evaluating the market and validating his risk management. He doesnt say "generally holding is better" because generally 99% of coins will fail, so then in that instant holding would not be good generally.

Its a nice meme, but some people think it is actually solid advice.
2089  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Crypto currency Book | Register to get the book , FREE on: December 11, 2017, 04:21:35 PM

2090  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Accept bitcoin in non profit organization on: December 11, 2017, 04:17:14 PM
You can use a processor like coinbase or Bitpay in order to transfer the funds to fiat. I doubt a non profit will hold the coins, considering they want the fiat money.
2091  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase - Did not send the correct amount to my Bitcoin address on: December 11, 2017, 04:15:23 PM
I have never had a problem with Coinbase so I might be a little biased, however we will need to see your transactions to figure it out.
2092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had just hodl my bitcoins back a couple of months ago instead of trading on: December 11, 2017, 04:12:51 PM
"
In every month there is something. The fear of losing money. How do you deal with this? Are you hodling your coins? Do you invest every month? Do you day trade?"

First of all, just because you would have made 4x, doesn't mean that it was a good investment based on your risk management. Bitcoin is very risky to invest in so I wouldn't recommend you put a large percent of your portfolio. It also doesn't seem like you are a "investor" and are risky more than you can afford to lose which is not good.

"Hodl" is a funny meme that we can all appreciate, but its not a good investment strategy to simply hold. You need to evaluate the market often as it changes, and depending on your evaluation and speculation holding might not be a good option. So merely investing with the plan on "hodling" is a terrible thing.

I invest whenever I see a good opportunity, and I rarely day trade. However if my risk management and evaluation line up then I might.
2093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex, the market mover, HAS to be insolvent.... on: December 10, 2017, 11:29:05 PM
They have so much tether that it makes me wonder. I wouldnt exchange with them, however if they ever do go under it will effect everyone.
2094  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Any project ideas for these crypto related domains? on: December 10, 2017, 11:24:45 PM
You could try and make some sort of coffee business that has a crypto currency twist too it. Or you could try and resell them.
2095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lets Create NEW ICO standards! | Ultimate thread on: December 10, 2017, 11:10:01 PM
This is a very important topic, as it is a huge problem in the crypto currency world. Does anyone have any new suggestions?
2096  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price BTC in 2019? on: December 10, 2017, 10:00:31 PM
People are way to worried about the price of the coin. Who knows what the price will be, you should start evaluate the coin yourself. If I say it will reach $100k, does that information really help you? The market changes every second, so I have to evaluate it hundreds of times. So my thoughts and speculation can change at any day, so the information I supply you with today might change tomorrow.
2097  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase/BitCoin Transfer fees? on: December 10, 2017, 09:33:16 PM
I don't believe Electrum allows you to change the fee. However other wallets like blockchain.info allow you to set a fee
2098  Economy / Goods / Re: House for sale in Cornwall, UK overlooking the sea for BTC on: December 10, 2017, 08:06:39 PM
It would help if you post pictures. People cant bid or do anything without pictures of the place.
2099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction unconfirmed for 5 days. Help! on: December 10, 2017, 08:02:32 PM

2100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who here lives on crypto currency daily? on: December 10, 2017, 07:25:51 PM
Personally my daily spendings is obtained from fiat exchanged from my earned bitcoin, since  I started earning crypto I have been having stable income all my financial inadequacies has been catered for and majority of my income is obtained from offering services in this forum  which has enable me to buy stuffs like phones, clothes and  pay  my bills etc which is even more than  my daily job salary.

I think for a lot of people this is the way that they use crypto currency. Profit taking and spending that for daily needs.
