2101  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cryptotalk Future on: January 14, 2020, 09:35:50 AM
Seems they already have serious traffic, according to Alexa.com cryptotalk's alexa rank is 47,475 and bitcointalk's alexa rank - 10,398. Also most part of their visitors are Russian, then comes Pakistan and India. For bitcointalk it looks following: India, United States and Brazil. Also Daily Time on Site on cryptotalk is 1.5x higher compared to bitcointalk (this last one has 5:54). So I would say that cryptotalk really achieved something significant during their campaign in a very short time.
But there is one thing that I think about: Cryptotalk has just better design and their own pay per post which is pretty similar of our signature campaigns, so nothing significant there. Also they don't have as much erudite people as we have and even level of bitcointalk's erudite people is huge. Now imagine bitcointalk moved on new forum software, we will achieve better design and functions so why will anyone use cryptotalk? It's current benefits will be written off.
2102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling cashback services? on: January 13, 2020, 11:15:43 PM
OP you mean rakeback, yeah? Bitsler has integrated amazing Vip Levels system on their website. There are Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and even higher Vip Levels with a lot of rewards. You can claim Reward Chest and key from wagering on bronze level, reward and possibilities growth when your level increases, for example on silver there is higher reward and you can participate in Billionth bet event, from gold level you can have access on gold rakeback (the thing that you are looking for).
There is given an example from bitslerregarding to rakeback:
Quote
if you have a rakeback rate of 24%, weekly rakeback boost of 2% and bet BTC 200 on a game with 2% house edge (like Boom.) You will earn: 200 * 0.02 * 0.26 = BTC1.04 in rakeback
.
From other casinos, as far as I know, bitdice has good rakeback system. Also maybe FJ offers something similar via points.
2103  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: bitcoin-converter.com on: January 13, 2020, 09:43:37 PM
1. Find a shorter and better domain name.
2. Make the conversion instant (without the need of clicking the convert button).
3. Add smaller units. (mBTC, Satoshi's etc.)
4. I know you're probably doing it for SEO but you should avoid filling the page with FAQs, descriptions, and random articles. It's clear what your website does, it's self-explanatory.
I think his domain is pretty good, especially for seo purposes. Second one is really good advice but at the same time also he has bitcoin conversion table where all prices are shown. Also if you checked, he has that option on prices that are shown on top (but make it like to get rid of web refresh).
Random articles are great choice from his side to my mind but these articles mustn't be really random, I would include articles which are written about bitcoin's price that includes weekly analytics, really hot news and other important ones, news that may be beneficial and interesting for a person who is looking for conversation rates. As an example I can tell you recent news where it was written that Bitcoin is selling for 24000$ in Iran but he has to refresh them very often.
2104  Economy / Economics / Re: is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments? on: January 13, 2020, 08:46:32 PM
According to conspiracy theory, Is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments to gain financial strength in the modern world?

To be honest, I really doubt that the goverments are somehow involved in the creation of bitcoin. This can be seen in their behavior when Bitcoin first appeared, and in their behavior at the present time. However, I believe that at present, states are very closely watching bitcoin and are trying to get something from themselves.
I think at first we have to realize that when something similar is happening, governments are doing their best to hide and make you think the wrong way, I amn't talking directly on bitcoin but in overall, no one can give you exact answer on bitcoin's case. One can say valid arguments around the task that bitcoin is created by governments and opposite.
Personally I think that it's unlikely to be created by government because there are very smart people among us who want freedom and they create this freedom, for example let's take creator of Tor and other privacy options, bitcoin is part of that too. I wouldn't say that governments are against all of this, no, it's even beneficial for them at some point, otherwise they would ban all kind of encryption with reason that it's not safe for your life and etc. Why it's beneficial? Because they make money in this process too.
2105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen if quantum computer owners start to move the early mined coins? on: January 09, 2020, 11:50:37 PM
From what I know, quantum computers will appear only in 10 years. The "companies of evil" (IBM, Google etc) will not allow this happen sooner.
What do you mean in appear? To be quantum computers accessible for everyone? Maybe not in 10 but in 20-30 year that may happen and then quantum will be perceive as normal as current PCs. But on another hand google's quantum computer already exists.
OP every problem is solvable, what is computer? Combination of numbers and numbers are part of math. Math can create and solve problems, so when there will be that problem, it will be solved too and as DannyHamilton correctly mentioned quantum-resistant authorization algorithm.
2106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Generating Bitcoin on the side? on: January 09, 2020, 11:17:53 PM
Hi guys! I am new to this forum and overwhelmed with the information on here. I wanted to know what you guys would advise me to look into to get me started.

The real drive behind this is to be able to use the bitcoin for gambling purposes. I feel much safer and better when i gamble with bitcoin as oppose to money. I also feel much more secure. Despite it being difficult to really gage the value when gambling I still prefer to buy bitcoin and use it to deposit.

I have looked into may different websites that claim to use your pc to gather bitcoin,  in return for a small %. I am not sure but this doesnt seem very legit to me. Would it be more worth for me to invest in my own set up?

Without doubt invest in your own setup if you want to mine bitcoin, some websites offer that option but you'll rarely collect even 1 satoshi because of increase mining difficulty. Since for bitcoin mining you need antminers that cost a lot, instead you can mine altcoins with GPU or asic miners (are available for some altcoins but I prefer GPU because it's unique) and gamble with them or exchange into bitcoins if you wish. This way for example if you were gambling with 100$ a month, you'll be able to gamble with 120$ and pay 100$ (mining reward and electricity bills). I wrote that as an example, your mining profitability hugely depends on your electricity rates.
2107  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cryptoskill - Realtime multiplayer Rock Paper Scissors on: January 09, 2020, 10:32:53 PM
Wow, pretty impressive, I liked the game very much and seems playing it online is more fun than playing it in real life, at least your website proved like that for me. Can you spoil us what will be the next game? I suggest you to add games like soccer where 1 player kicks the ball and 2nd one catches, then they swipe the roles, I guess you understand what I meant. Also change website's template to attract more people, game's UI is nice, just design needs to be improved. Do you plan to add affiliate on your website?
2108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you go to blockchain/crypto events? on: January 09, 2020, 09:22:48 PM
Depends on which company has event, personally I was on Bitfury's event (got invited) and it was all good, this company works actively in developing and integrating of blockchain technologies and have contract with government of Georgia. They implemented land title registry and etc. Well it's not our subject right now.
Personally I would avoid more than 90% of blochain/crypto events because all they are looking for is money and not actual share of knowledge, presentation of innovations and etc. When ticket costs a lot and actually you get nothing from it, then why to go? Go only on good events, you'll find interesting people.
2109  Other / Meta / Re: This website needs a face lift, it's 2020 for christ sake! on: January 09, 2020, 08:45:04 PM
Skyscrapers are even built in 1-2 years and I have no idea what's so frustrating with developing of new forum software. The last time I saw beta (it's closed as for now), new forum will be pretty great with modern dark design but as for now we have to stick with this old one. To be fair I like old things and this forum's design is pretty good and it does all that we need except some features that can easily be implemented (for example tagging of someone and receiving notification on that). Famous forums still stick with old design, for example blackhatworld.
If I were theymos, I would possibly add some new styles but would leave ads space on current position to avoid any disappointment from advertisers.
2110  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Excessive confidence in cryptocurrency trading. on: January 09, 2020, 08:20:45 PM
Confidence comes from knowledge and expectation of success because of your knowledge. Confidence is the vehicle practical application. If you fail in actual trading, I have no idea how you can be excessively confident, maybe you can still remain just confident and think that you'll learn from these faults and it's just a combination of steps that you need in order to succeed, after a lot of success, then excessive confidence really comes. If you experience so huge confidence without actual experience in cryptocurrency trading, then I think there is something wrong or you may just naturally have a lot of dopamine.
2111  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat Vs Cryptocurrency, which would you choose? on: January 09, 2020, 04:46:40 PM
Fiat money can't be my money because it's not my property and for example let's talk about USD which is major currency in global economics. and that's Fed. You know it's a very non-transparent institution, they control money as they wish, they print as much as they wish, they modify USD's purchasing power as they wish. They create debt, a loan that we have to pay. Why do I have to pay a loan that's not mine? Is it right and fair what they do?
To sum up, we have no control and no right on USD = it's not our.
So that's why I choose cryptocurrency, I can mine it, I can independently own it, I can protect my privacy with it and more, satoshi is hero for releasing this idea.
I think it will be good for everyone to read some articles about connection between USD and FED, who owns FED and etc.
2112  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Mobile Phone Services To Your Doorstep - Looking For Clients & Investors on: January 09, 2020, 03:37:02 PM
Fix url or users will have to try it submit manually which I think will reduce number of visits on your website from bitcointalk. Your website's name reminded me Gizmo and site gizmodo.
Pretty good business but is there high demand on such services in UK if we consider the fact that Samsung, Apple and others have decent authorized service centers, are your prices low compared to them? Also do you have original supply? I mean do you guarantee that parts of smartphones will be original ones and not just random Chinese product?
It will be interesting to know how much number of people will pay in bitcoins on your website. Also don't you plan to offer discount on bitcoin/altcoin payments for your clients?
2113  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: How to Protect Your Crypto Wallet if Someone Searches Your Phone? on: January 09, 2020, 10:50:43 AM
We all keep a lot of personal information on our phones and obviously don’t want to share our correspondence, cryptocurrency wallets, or contacts to become a part of the public domain. Nonetheless, in some cases, authorities can ask you to provide full access to your device.

Is this even legal? Can you refuse to give your phone to law enforcement? How can you protect your cryptocurrency wallet?

https://forklog.media/how-to-protect-your-crypto-wallet-during-phone-search/
I have to travel frequently but have never seen that customs are checking someone's mobile phone or laptop and etc, that doesn't happen without very valid reason (for example when high authority criminal is wanted and there is doubt on someone). Customs can't crack your bitcoin wallet keys and etc but I think any password set on laptop/smartphone is useless against them but of course you have to use it as an insurance of your data from accidental lost of your digital device.
For offline wallet, use Trezor and if you use online wallets, then just don't remember password on any website, especially on email, be always log off from your email/wallet accounts and this way you'll feel more secure I guess.
2114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anti AntiVirus Bitcoin Core on: January 08, 2020, 10:45:02 PM
The most curious thing that I found there is that John McAfee is the founder of antivirus company McAfee LLC and at the same time this person is actively in bitcoin with his silly statements and false promises (everyone knows one of them).
I can't check right now but did McAfee determined that as a virus? If yes, then I'm more curious to see response from them on your email regarding to false positive.
2115  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: US- Iran Tensions boost Bitcoin price to $24,000 on: January 08, 2020, 09:35:38 PM
Bitcoin price may get higher but as a humanity we should pray that war should not happen. Even though Iran people sell bitcoin not all people will sell. Only few will sell the Bitcoin.
Let bitcoin grow but not world War lll shouldn't happen. Economy will be worst.
I really do not want to see a full blown war and the end result is human killing other human to show their power and we are living in a modern society and these politicians cannot understand the basic needs for everyone to have a peaceful life is pathetic, i condone the US attack and now Iran retaliated against our troops, these governments does order to carry out these actions and poor families will be loosing their loved ones and when these fight will end is a mystery. I am not sure about the legitimacy of the price in Iran.
War is a great way of making money for government. Just imagine, who wants war? I hugely doubt random American citizen wants to fight against person who lives in Iran, why should he care about him? He just wants to live on his own and be with family or etc, no one wants war and when there is one, that's because some persons want it and we are becoming their dolls and are used like voodoo. It would be great if people didn't follow every rules like robots but that doesn't happen, of course it has it's pros and cons but...
And people, bitcoin isn't sold at 24K USD in Iran, they just have two exchange rate, 1 - bank's rate and 2nd - rate used among people. Bank's rate is 4x higher and that's reason why it was said on article that bitcoin worths 24K USD in Iran, publisher edited that.
2116  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mixer reccomendations? on: January 08, 2020, 09:09:35 PM
OP always double check which website you are using, also never click on google ads regarding to mixer (it's blocked but in case such ads appears consider my advice). Also always check reviews of mixers on this forum, check scam accusation threads that are opened against them (if any) and see what was the problem, whose fault it was and how it was solved.
Personally I can suggest you chipmixer and [banned mixer] both of them are old and trustworthy but for higher anonymity I would choose chipmixer. And to talk about funds, cryptomixer has proved that they have reserves of more than 2000 bitcoin.
2117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker talk - Specifically Hold'em - Hands and or strategy on: January 08, 2020, 07:08:25 PM
I was originally just planning on talking about how whatever your strategy is, no matter how much you plan there is still a weak link - and it's the player. I got on this thought as I was playing the other day, and got into that mind set of my bets and bluffs just couldn't miss. Had a pretty good run on taking blinds and chipping up after a good hand where I was just behind. Then I went loose on my range and just pushed a pure bluff, pre-flop and got caught. Had to fold the hand as they had me covered and jammed, this left me nearly crippled and I just couldn't recover.

It was in doing a bit of hand analysis - this one didn't take long - that I thought about sharing poker stories here. I've been playing a lot lately, mostly tournaments. So I figured I would gauge interest in sharing some more interesting hands, like key double ups, or beats both bad and deserved. Finally the hands that get me eliminated, often these won't be anything of interest as they will be an all-in from short stack, but I've had some beauties over the years that I didn't see coming.

It would depend on the week but I generally play 3 or 4 nights a week depending on my work schedule, and would maybe make a post or 2. I know it's not the general gambling discussion that goes on, but figured there's gotta be a few people who may take an interest.

I would also totally welcome others to post their tales. By the way I'm not pro, I play micro-low stakes, and just really enjoy playing (ignore those 20 seconds after some hands) and trying to improve.
Because of just one caught on bluff doesn't mean it has ruined your plan or gaming quality. It's better to sit on regular tables (not on fast forward or turbo) and play with players that have decent money cause more likely they'll play on long term (personally I think so from my experience). During bluff, the best thing to do is to manage when to show your cards (muck) and by this way decide what to show them: You had good cards and lost, you had bad cards but still follow the game (bluff).
But of course bluff is useless against good cards, gambling of poker in real life is a whole better experience cause it's easier to understand other's emotions, despite the fact that they may fake it, if you are great at it, you'll see fake emotions and use it for you.
2118  Economy / Economics / Re: Since 2009 There Was A 500% Increase In Internet Traffic. on: January 08, 2020, 02:01:23 PM
I have no idea why people put word blockchain in everything, it looks like blockchain is a magic word that's used instead of Abracadabra, I wouldn't even be surprised if magicians say Blockchain while doing tricks. I think that increase mostly comes from former Soviet Republics because in these countries, a lot of people don't had access on PC and internet, there was DSL in most of these countries for a long time and we can say that fiber is new for them.
Also in some countries internet is expensive but at the same time there is a huge bandwidth usage because of pirate websites (multiple upload of different movies, games and etc for each website).
2119  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin have a price increase before the halving like we saw in 2016? on: January 08, 2020, 01:00:57 PM
In 2016 the halving was early July.  Depending on the exchange, the price was as follows:

May 1, 2016 $453
June 1, 2016 $536
July 1, 2016 just before the halving $677

The price increased about 50% from May 1 to July 1 just before the halving event.

Should we expect something similar this time?
I would say that according to statistics, bitcoin's price was stable before halving and even after that for a while. Actual rise started in November, after 3-4 months from halving it went from 600$ to 700$ and then went up and up, we had amazing rise, this process for me was like a rush of dopamine. Price rise didn't start in May because you have to consider that a lot of things happened at that time, for example hashocean had scam exit and believe me a lot of people had invested there, because of this scam everyone thought that they would sell their coins in a hurry and price would decrease. There were still a lot of moments to remember from previous halving.
Personally I would say that we will see clear picture after some months from halving, not right now or not right the day after halving.
2120  Other / Meta / Re: How about a merit faucet / puzzle? on: January 08, 2020, 11:43:27 AM
So you want to make stimuli for them to learn more about bitcoin, yeah? To be fair if you want to learn, you'll learn, just google anything you wish and you'll find a lot of answers, just ask on this forum and you'll get responses too. Personally I can say that in Development & Technical Discussion section achow101 has never left me without full answer, I appreciate that.
I have also seen one newbie who was receiving merits like rain because of his very, very high quality posts, he gained attention in the beginning when merit was implemented, can't remember that user. So what I want to say is that idea is still ok but it won't push newbies to try to rank up. Shit poster = shit poster, no matter what. You can't make child intelligent by giving chocolate if he/she gets good marks cause he/she prefers to put less afford and be left without reward.
