1401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥 The First Truly Decentralized Lottery System based on Cryptocurrency 🔥 on: November 12, 2020, 11:04:22 AM
Can you tell us more about your business plan? I know this isn't something that people talk about in public but I have some questions:
1. What's your budget?
2. What's your marketing strategy? There were a lot of similar projects and all of them failed, even serious ones.
3. Why do you think that your lottery system, even if it's better than traditional ones, will become popular?

These are the basic questions that I have because personally, I don't think that it's a serious project and will succeed. You didn't take care of your UI which plays a significant role between your and customers relationship.
1402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How long until we can bet with bitcoin in real life casinos? on: November 11, 2020, 09:58:55 PM
What do you think?

at some point people will be able to walk in a casino and just bet on slot machines with bitcoin?
or play poker using crypto, but irl?

do you think it will become a mass adoption currency or it'll keep as it is on online websites only?

of course some merchants and places already adopt crypto and BTC as a way of payment, but curious here:
how long you think it'll take to reach the point where we can bet in real life places with bitcoin?
Hmm, to be fair I haven't seen any old fiat casino that started accepting of bitcoins. More likely, what I see online are crypto dedicated casinos. Idk why that doesn't happen but seems right now we have two sides: Fiat casinos and crypto casinos, you'll very, very rarely see mixed ones, the only one in this category that I know is sportsbet.io
So, very hard to answer to your question. I know one casino that didn't accept crypto payments but instead founded a new casino but with only cryptocurrencies.
As you know, real-life casinos are often associated with money laundering and at some point have a bad reputation, so I don't think it will happen anytime soon but in 2-3 years, who knows, even PayPal accepted bitcoins and gave a huge push to its adoption.
1403  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain extends warranty period on all new orders on: November 11, 2020, 08:56:26 PM
If they provide repair/replacement without returning it to China.
If they do it quickly. Under 3 weeks
Then it would be really good.
How would they provide repair/replacement outside of China? One way is to open repair service centres in different countries and cities but I don't know how beneficial it can be to their business, even think that it will be a lot of expense for them. And replacement without returning it to China seems impossible right now. For these, they need to radically change their logistics, sales and at some point, business structure.
Btw returning it to China, especially right now, means that once your antminer needs repair, you are in stuck.
1404  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to advertise cryptocurrency exchange platform? on: November 11, 2020, 08:05:37 PM
Quote
3. Buy an ad slot in Etherscan.io (IIRC it costs around 1500$/7 days), Coinmarketcap, or some other big crypto site.

Do you think that buying slots on this kind big websites is a good idea? Maybe much better will be spend this money on ads at Social networks?

Do you think there's more traffic you can get on social media? Since you need to target those crypto users before gaining some good results and provably the one you can see the ads there are not much on crypto. So best try to advertise first on big crypto sites like etherscan or maybe coinmarketcap since provably you will get a traffic to the real crypto user guys out there.
It's not the way how cryptocurrency exchange platforms are advertised. There are a lot of things behind it and as I mentioned earlier, you need product manager, marketing manager, creative executive, etc... It's not just to ask your mate to give you some bucks and run advertisement on facebook on any website. Companies hire data analysts and all of these and pay a decent salary and believe me, they aren't silly. You need tons of money and experienced marketers, not suggestions from people on bitcointalk. If I tell you to advertise on any website and that's all, your business is popular, then no, it's very wrong.

P.S. I corrected your [ quote ] codes.
1405  Economy / Economics / Re: Can legalisation of Cannabis help US economy? on: November 11, 2020, 07:30:48 PM
It's a weird one based on the article. Also is cbd still legal (with a max of 0.1-0.5% thc)?

I think the police in the US are extremely overmilitarised, they may as well not be separate institutions from what I can tell based on the amount of legal favours the police have there.

Drug prohibition in general is just a way for most governments to prosecute the poor - if you're rich enough you're getting a drug dealer to come near your land: you're not meeting them in an alleyway somewhere. I think weed is much safer than cigsrretes too - and it smells nicer.

The $4bn budget as an argument doesn't sound much though, the US and UK spend about that funding weapons against isil (so they can fight their proxy war with Russia).
I agree with you, if you are reach and famous, then the government won't touch you. For example, let's take famous Hollywood stars and singers, celebrities in overall. Most of them use drugs, some of them are addicted and for example, Maradona, everyone knows that he uses but they don't get arrested because they are famous and they have money. And they say that law is a law for everyone? This is hilarious.
I think there will come a time when everything will be legalized like it was during the period when these drugs were first discovered, mostly during world wars.
Right now, this step will really help the economy but it's another task what kind of influence will frequent use have on people and do pros outweigh the cons? It's a thing of debate to my mind and they should seriously take it, not just because of economy.
1406  Economy / Gambling / Re: BGame.io [ 0% House Edge ] - Supports 26 Currencies - 12 Popular Games 🔴🟠🟡🟢 on: November 11, 2020, 06:16:39 PM
Design is really nice but to be fair it reminds me one design that I have seen on several websites and that's sold online too but idk, in any way, it's really fast and nice, good style but can be better if you work on its further development in near future.
Btw I am amazed that I see the website with full functions but with bad ANN thread. Also what amazes me is that such a fully functional website has zero SEO right now. And a license is pending too... I think you could get a license while developing a website, makes some doubt for me, would love it if you clarify my questions.
1407  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tax Question on: November 11, 2020, 05:35:17 PM
Let's say I buy 1 BTC at $10,000.

I sell my tv to my friend and he pays me 1 BTC for it. So now I have a grand total of 2 BTC. Let's assume I have no idea what the price of BTC was at the time I sold the tv.

Today BTC is going for $15,500. Let's say I sell both of my BTC today (held less than 1 year). How do I figure out the capital gains on this? Thanks in advance! Smiley
Let's imagine again that you have 1 bitcoin and got another one from your friend but for this reason, you gave him your TV instead. What about if no one will ever know about that? I guess you are from the USA because as far as I see people from this country take such things very seriously. In the country where I live, I can sell my smartphone, TV, washing machine, a fridge without paying anything to the government. We will have a deal in real life, he gives me cash, I give him what I sell and that's all. Why to tell the government that I sold TV and hey, come here and tax me. In overall, they don't care about such things too.
1408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Did anyone try to "gamble" with ponzi scheme crypto scam services? on: November 10, 2020, 10:20:40 PM
Hmm... Pretty good question. I was thinking about that too. I believe it's quite risky and you depend on luck too because you never know when the website will turn into a scam. Maybe the project offers you 10% of your investment daily but it gets scam on 6th day and you'll be left without profit. Right now, you'll rarely see projects similar of hashocean where people even made 300% and even higher ROIs if not more. So, it's still very risky and you have to carefully choose the scam projects for investments, especially right now. In any way, I am against that kind of profit because you know you get profit because others get scammed.
1409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Did anyone had idea to create such stablecoin? on: November 09, 2020, 09:01:54 PM
Okay, let's imagine one USD with the current value. There is stablecoin created that carries the value of USD but... You know USD's value can increase or decrease, that depends on inflation but at the same time it means that USD isn't stable and cryptocurrency backed by USD can't be stable. So we need a coin that will lock the USD and move according to it. If 1 Stablecoin = 1 USD right now but tomorrow we have 20% inflation, then this coin should cover this inflation and automatically increase in value. If the opposite happens, then the opposite action should be done automatically, according to official USD rate moves.

I hope you understand the point. What do you think about this? I would call it pricelock feature but stablecoin should naturally come with it.
1410  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: P2P gambling idea - discussion on: November 09, 2020, 08:11:26 PM
Wait wait, isn't betfair offering bet exchanges and p2p betting? If I amn't mistaken, you can offer custom odds to users and at the same time you can act as a sportsbook and accept bets from customers. So, your idea still exists Cheesy It's called BetFair
My friend works in Flutter Entertainment and he told me that right now they don't plan to accept crypto payments but we may see it in two years, there was some discussion about it but nothing significant. I think PayPal's decision will push others to do the same and accelerate the adoption of cryptocurrencies by other major companies.
Thanks for ruining the party LOL
However, would you mind sharing the link, I could not see a tab or menu for it to visit and see how it is.

I am not surprised at all by the way. There should be service like this in a lot of corners in the world, the possibility is that we have not discovered them yet.
Oh sorry, I didn't want to ruin the "fun" but I was amazed that no one above me mentioned betfair Cheesy
Here is the link: BetFair
You can find official guides on their websites too, check this: How to place a bet on the Betfair Exchange

Also, this is the link of their community: Betfair Community
Here you can see the youtube video guide too from BetFair: How to use The Betfair Exchange | Trading Football with Dimitar Berbatov
Well, have a good luck!
1411  Economy / Economics / Re: Effective Covid-19 vaccine found on: November 09, 2020, 07:23:15 PM
Will Pfizer accept bitcoin only payments on this vaccine? There will no such thing happen so idk, what it has to do with the bitcoin? Why do you think that something will happen to bitcoin in this case? I think it's just neutral situation for bitcoin but great for us. Btw at some point, it's still risky to use their vaccines. For example, some of Pfizer's drugs (that I won't name) seemed to be safe but some researches found that they prevent the formation of new brain synapses and affect grey matter in brain.
But economics is falling and our health is directly linked to economics too, we really need something effective right now and still, that's great news.
1412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Risks Of Bitcoin Going To Zero Has Gotten More Lower Than Ever on: November 09, 2020, 06:44:08 PM
Would love to know how do they calculate this kind of statistics?
What is the probability that the sun will rise tomorrow? It's impossible to imagine this but statistically, there is a chance that it may happen but it's very, very low. But in reality, will it happen? No!
Calculating of such risks and probabilities is nonsense because that will never happen and it's just a math thing and numbers. At the same time, when calculating these risks, they have to consider that there are tons of money and businesses built behind bitcoin and more and more businesses are adopting it in their services, so...
1413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: KYC on gambling casinos on: November 09, 2020, 06:23:45 PM
Some of the Gambling casinos I've seen are requiring its user to conduct a KYC (not mandatory but they said there's a chance or something) however my concern is that the gambling casino is not licensed are you going to trust this or not? Imagine winning a big jackpot and they asked for you to conduct KYC but they are not licensed.
Unlicensed casinos don't have a right to function, nothing to say about giving KYC documents to them, without doubt, you shouldn't do it. Personally, I wouldn't give away KYC documents on every licensed casino but would risk on those whom I trust and are trusted in the crypto gambling community.
It's easy to obtain the license and you know, a lot of licensed casinos scam nowadays, so imagine how poor scammer would an unlicensed casino be and also how bad employees they should have.

Better to try your luck in jackpots on trusted casinos. Usually, that kind of reward giveaways (when user registers and somehow quickly wins jackpot) are the sign of scammy action.
1414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Indian boy committed suicide after losing money by Betting in IPL on: November 08, 2020, 09:39:37 PM
Some people commit suicide because of gambling, some - because of bank loans, because of losing loved ones, broken relationships, because of study in school (yeah, I know cases when child committed suicide because he didn't want to study and was getting bad marks at school). There are still so many different reasons.

This fact is very bad but it doesn't mean that gambling kills. No, our problem is that we blame others for our actions while the root of the problem lies in us. You kill yourself because you created the problem, you gambled the money that you couldn't afford, you took the loan that you couldn't afford to pay back...
That fact is sad, hope casinos will seriously support responsible gambling campaign, I think this should be like a rule for everyone to enlighten our people around gambling and it's pros and cons.
1415  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did we find out Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym? on: November 08, 2020, 08:51:58 PM
The most curious thing for me is the following: Wasn't police interested with Theymos or Sirius? If yes, then I hugely doubt it would be hard for them to reach them but if no, then why? Why wasn't there a serious investigation? It's also hard to believe, persons didn't know each other but trusted each other and made so serious project with serious community.

Let's move on satoshi:
Just googled and according to Wikipedia: Satoshi is generally a masculine Japanese given name.
Possible writings: philosophy, clear, enlightenment, apprehension, quick, sharp, knowledge, wisdom, intelligent, clever, bright, intelligent, teach, instruct, proclaim, instruct.

According to babynames: The name Satoshi means Intelligent History and is of Japanese origin. Satoshi is a name that's been used primarily by parents who are considering baby names for boys.

So, in overall Satoshi means knowledge and knowledge is the power. Creation of bitcoin is the result of knowledge.

According to ancestry, Nakamoto means: central origin. The word origin itself means the beginning or cause of something.

I believe that this combination of the name means something, it should be symbolic. And this person (maybe it was team but that person who decided to name himself or the group - Satoshi Nakamoto) would be very interested in Japanese mythology too but not actually Japanese.

1417  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why aren't more businesses and investment funds buying Bitcoin? on: November 05, 2020, 09:29:49 PM
Seems, things are changing and some companies are going to convert their assets into Bitcoin instead of USD and other currencies, check: Is Bitcoin the best reserve asset?
If you see, more and more businesses are interested in cryptocurrencies, for example, let's take PayPal, the giant provider that entered the market recently. It's not always necessary to directly buy bitcoins in business.
You know what? In business, investors are looking for a sweet spot where the reward is high and the risk is low. Bitcoin doesn't belong to that category, here, it's under the question mark but still carries a huge risk with the possibility of huge reward. People don't want to mess with things.
1418  Other / Meta / Re: Why aren't avatar ad clickable? on: November 05, 2020, 08:28:18 PM
It's very curious. At some point, we see threads where signature campaigns and those who wear it are blamed and then - why don't we have more benefits.
OP have you ever seen such option on any other forum? Personally - not. I think it's not necessary too. I understand the point but forum needs it's income from advertisement too. If we allow image banners and clickable avatars on this forum, I think it will have a negative effect on the usage of forum ads. It's still amazing that we have so various options to promote things.

To be fair, at some point it really sounds like an innovative method to promote the product, coin in this case. But, I don't think that you'll really achieve any success that way. First of all it has no design, no promotions, none thing that online casinos carry, not a place of entertainment and excitement, right? You may also know that people love automated profit, so I think a lot of people will just run bots or scripts in browser to automate the process of winning.
At first, think about UI/UX, it's very necessary and there is a reason people spend so much money around it. Great UI means a lot!
1420  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin the best reserve asset? on: November 05, 2020, 07:18:20 PM
Bitcoin can be considered as the best reserve asset but the most dangerous at the same time. Personally, I think it's better to convert your assets in bitcoin when you are highly confident that you won't touch them for a certain time and in case something happens, you have another plan to follow in case bitcoin's price falls dramatically.
Otherwise, if everything happens positively, then it can radically change the fate of the company. Reserve, that you weren't using of course, can increase significantly in USD value (USD because finally we convert bitcoins into USD and it's the most widely used currency).
Imagine: Got 100K USD in reserves, price went up to 10x (why not?), got 1 Million USD. With that 1 million, you can skyrocket your business, it's like an unexpected rush of money, donation.
