Looks like about 5k of asks staggered to 1000 just showed up
2123  Economy / Speculation / Re: total scam on: November 19, 2013, 05:46:27 AM
Which exchange went from $900 to $300? I need to open an account there!

Hehe, be careful. "Down 300" and "Down to 300" are not the same.
2124  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 19, 2013, 04:04:38 AM
More and more am I starting to believe that BTCChina is (for a large part) fake.

- Their volume reports are ridiculous. On the 3 minute chart they have almost exclusively 300 btc per candlestick.
- The whole rise-up at BTC-China seems orchestrated. Every sharp rise is nicely crafted into a short dip which then recovers in order to make others believe that it's safe to buy

And most compellingly

- During the crash the volume stays _THE SAME_ throughout. There is a sharp drop, but no panic selling at all! The volume is constant. This does not make any sense to me.
- Notice how every downward candle towards is also attempted to be caugt immediately - many many intermittent recoveries during a crash. It just doesn't make sense.

It's almost as if the whole exchange is scripted to make fake orders to amplify any movements seen on Gox. Zero trading fees would allow this.

=== I'm just speculating here ===

Thats really quite interesting. You'll also notice areas on BTC China where there is mysteriously no volume at all, and then it picks up again.

The reason this matters is the other markets are blindly following China. Gox has started to diverge since ~$500, showing some major resistance to upwards movement, but it cant go down with China going up so much-- at least for long.

Also.. wtf, China went up over 100% in 24 hours? And the Gox bid sum is tanking, all the way down to ~ $20mill now?
2125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 18, 2013, 07:40:01 PM
China at $780? WTF, thats up 50% in last 24 hours? lol! And LTC? Up 125%+? WWWTTFFFF xD
2126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculate and win 0.1 btc! Guess the $1000 date on: November 18, 2013, 07:16:19 AM
February 17th, 2014.
2127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Spread Mt.Gox-Bitstamp ??? on: November 18, 2013, 07:07:50 AM
Running out of steam? Bitstamp bid sum falling abt. a million.
2128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: November 14, 2013, 06:54:46 AM

adjusting chartbuddy Y parameters scared the shit out of me; looked like monster walls.
2129  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin crashes when those investing realise 2 things on: November 13, 2013, 10:52:40 PM
1. The fact that only 21 million coins can be mined (assuming that does not get altered) is irrelevant when they can be sliced up into 100,000,000 sub units.

2. That there have already been discussions about increasing the divisibility.

When exchanges start working in sub units it may dawn on people that the scarcity argument used to promote Bitcoin is disingenuous rubbish.

Lol. Divisibility doesnt mean the price wont go to the same price. If it werent ultra-divisible, the price would be like $10 because no one would want a coin that can only divide down to, say, $1 of buying power.
2130  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's getting frothy, and I'm dumping 75% of my coins on: November 13, 2013, 05:55:16 AM
You guys literally don't get it.  Only 5 percent can take profit.  95 percent have to get burnt.

No. People can cash out as the price rises. As long as there is money inflow everyone can profit. Since bitcoin is a currency/store of value, even those at the end are not "doomed to be holding the bags", like in a typical pyramid scheme.

People earlier this year PROFITED at $30. They never have to come back and buy "at a loss".

People are profiting every day at $380.

2131  Economy / Speculation / Re: OMG Double Top on: November 13, 2013, 05:52:48 AM
double top means its going to crash right?

If it means anything at all then yes usually it goes down from there...

Couldn't it be argued that it is actually a cup and the handle will come soon and be a bear trap?

I dont think cups can form that quickly and be considered valid; not sure though.

2132  Economy / Speculation / Re: If whales were to prematurely dump 500000 btc right now, where would support be? on: November 13, 2013, 05:50:25 AM
Not all in one market order but over the course of a day or two like in April.

Definitely in the lower double digits. $30-40 I'd imagine.

Best case high double digits. 500,000 is way too many, even across all primary exchanges and 2 days.
2133  Economy / Speculation / Re: I get the feeling that "dark" bids/asks are getting more common on: November 13, 2013, 05:43:53 AM
Thanks for the suggestion. Here is what I mean:

The price has stayed at $350 all day, despite Mt.Gox and BTCChina going all over the place, even though the bid/ask depth looks very thin. That makes me think there are invisible walls in the form of bots who just buy or sell small amounts whenever the price moves beyond a threshold.

Obviously this has been possible (and going on) for years already, but I just wonder if it is becoming more prevalent.

No, there arent and have not been invisible walls on Gox, and most likely not on Stamp either.

Just because the price isnt moving doesnt mean there is an invisible wall. It takes volume to move the price. If there is no volume, there is no volatility.

If you somehow saw a 1k volume spike and the price barely moved, then there is something going on (Or, a visible wall).

But thats not happening. Some of the 200-500 volume spikes on Stamp have moved the price a lot; no invisible walls.
2134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 12, 2013, 08:08:06 AM
what about that 2000 coin ask at 385 that has now disappeared? it didn't look like it would get bought up tonight at the slowish rate (in comparison to the last week) we are moving at.  but why was it there? what was the seller trying to do, if anything? why did he take it down now? sum ask still around the same level though

This is why you dont block chartbuddy Wink

2135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2013, 10:08:19 PM
Gox goin nuts, lol, even the lag counter cant decide.
2136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2013, 09:47:10 PM

I really, really doubt that.

And you have to remember China volume is at least half fake.

Huh? Did you just create that statement or do you have something to back it up with?
Whatever your opinion, you can't take the volume numbers as "real" as long 0% fees incentivize volume manipulation. How much manipulation is happening is anyone's guess. But I think to assume that what we are seeing for volume = what we would see with > 0% trading fees is misguided.

If this China volume is fake due to 0% fees, why would it stop now? I see even more manipulators lining up to increase profits if its this easy to do so.

Seeing 20k volume go by in an hourly view, with a price rise that would require no more than a 2k buy... thats fake volume.

E.G.

2k away from, say, 2300.

Look at bitcoinity "1h" view"

See 15+ 500+volume data points, all going up; price still hasnt reached 2300 (Again, example)

Impossible. Fake volume.

I saw this happen earlier with 2200.
2137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2013, 07:48:56 PM
Those graphs are obsolete since they don't include all relevant exchanges and also don't group multiple currency pairs on a single exchange together. This is a more accurate view:

http://data.bitcoinity.org/#caaaabegaa

Thanks, and...ouch, gox is hemorrhaging market share:

that or the market just became bigger, with that bigger volume being spread out over the different exchanges.

I really, really doubt that.

And you have to remember China volume is at least half fake.

This DDoS is actually getting pretty bad (long)

If it goes on much longer I'd expect some dumping elsewhere..
2139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is now the time to buy on: November 11, 2013, 05:41:40 PM
i missed the bottom around 270, but i picked up a few coins at 313.  its hard to tell whats going to happen. i expected china to wake up and panic sell, but apparently there are no bears in china. we here in the US crash the market, and china gets all our cheap coins.

Why would you expect China to panic sell on a Monday? Sounds like you just made something up to re-affirm your position.
2140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2013, 05:13:12 PM
Its old (today morning) but maybe it has something to do with the current situation:
