Hello everyone, I'm new to Bitcoin and came across this forum in my searches. I thought it would be a good idea to register here and see what this is all about.

I run a grow store outside of Calgary and am interested in Bitcoin for my shop. I also just learned about alternates to Bitcoin. Like penny stocks. I will probably invest in those too. Anyways, my journey begins...

Most of the so called alternatives to bitcoins are pump and dump schemes. Worse than penny stocks.

Just wanted to give kudos to OP for being reliable.

He could have ripped me off to the tune of 17BTC and didn't.

Kudos, but no trust feedback given?
It doesn't cost anything, you know.

Was payment sent out for the accepted articles this Friday?

He told me he had to restore his computer last night and that his wallet's still syncing up, hopefully you'll be hearing from him soon.

Thanks. I will wait for an update from him.
Btw, is the site still open to accepting articles?
2144  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: November 15, 2014, 02:22:26 AM
Don't gamble. It's bad for you.

People know that but continue to gamble.
It is just like smoking, an addiction.  Smiley

With the fungibility of bitcoin, I don't think you can mark any bitcoins as stolen.

Last mile connectivity in remittances. How to efficiently ensure fiat funds reach the end user.
2148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What if power was free? on: November 13, 2014, 12:28:12 AM
There are countries where the cost of generation is very low (abundant wind power, much more than the demand) or the government subsidizes it. I bet bitcoin miners are having a field run in such countries.  Grin

If you can get a lot of active refferals under you, then you can make an ok amount doing nothing  Smiley

You can't get a lot of active referrals by doing nothing. You need to run a popular site, manage a popular blog, buy adsplaces to advertise your ref link, spam your link everywhere on the web, etc.

To clarify, what I meant is once you've got the active referals. Once you' ve got them you can sit around, but you hee dot work to get them first.

Yup, there have been signature campaigns run by enterprising members (who are unrelated to the advertised site), just to increase their referrals.

Banknotes or anyway something to make its use more simple for the masses.

You will have the associated issues of counterfeiting.  Smiley
2154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can a factory reset computer be used for cold storage? on: November 10, 2014, 12:17:25 AM
I need to buy a new laptop anyway so I was wondering if I completely wipe my current laptop (It's a sony vaio) could I then use it as my cold storage laptop? I plan to make a large investment in bitcoins very soon and was wondering if factory resetting my current laptop would be sufficient in terms of security? Cheers.

Yes, but make sure that you don't connect it to the internet in the future.
2155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advice needed on: November 09, 2014, 02:53:49 AM
Hello, I'm new here.
I've been interested in bitcoin for a while now, and have bought 1btc to date. I've put off buying more, because the price has been dropping. Anyway, to cut to the chase, I have just inherited $10,000, and I'm tempted to convert it all to bitcoin. It seems like now could possibly be the best opportunity I may get to buy in.

$10,000 is a nice lump, but if bitcoin continues its upwards trend, $200,000+ would be life changing to me.

Thank you in advance, any advice appreciated.

Think about whether you can afford to lose the entire $10,000. If not, put a smaller amount into bitcoins and the rest into safer and less volatile investments.
2156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Future of Bitcoin is Biometric authentication and identification on: November 09, 2014, 02:51:49 AM
Pseudonymity is one of the big advantages of bitcoin.
I am sure Satoshi wouldn't want to tie up his biometrics to his wallet.   Wink

Hi guys, I've been thinking what does Bitcoin need to make it to the next level ? Smiley

Wide spread adoption in developing countries could propel Bitcoin to the next level.

Lol yeah right.. you can earn free coins BUT not a lot.. Even if you're doing faucets 20/h a day

Yes, faucets are not worth your time.
If you really want bitcoins, mow your neighbor's lawn and buy some bitcoins. You will get a lot more in the same time.
2160  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: putting btc on exchange on: November 08, 2014, 03:37:09 AM
What's the risk of putting for example 10 btc on an exchange like kraken.com with 2 factor authentification?
What's the chance I can withdraw them without any problems in 2 years? 90%, 99%, 99.9%, 99.99%, 99.999%, 99.9999% ?

Put 10 BTC in cold storage and store the private key in a bank locker. The change that you will face problems with withdrawals in 2 years is ~0%,
