pretty hilarious people starting looking for pirates address when he already had about $5.5 million dollars worth of untraceable money and no intention of giving any of it back
*allegedly * He could have lost everyone's money in someone else's ponzi scheme as well, and now may be as broke as his "investors" are you trying to make a defence argument for pirate ? would you still be ok if he took investors bitcoins to a casino and put them on red or black ? 100 % interest rates possible per spin **past performace in not a guaranteed indicator of future returns** ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) i only see 2 scenarios he either scammed the money personally or let it be scammed through his negligence neither of which is a valid defence IMO and he is still responsible for his actions along with others who herded people into his ponzi to make a %

if its not purely a publicity stunt you run the risk of starving to death in most of the world.....

pirate has retired from the "investing business" and this is what he does now : ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fi.qkme.me%2F3528a3.jpg&t=663&c=JmtXI8U3aclPUw)

I agree, and I include all the other shills and forum operators who facilitated this mess.
yes! + starfish who rated these ponzis and scams as "AAA" safe investments which have now folded and investors may have to wait 3 years to get their money back ...... ![Sad](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/sad.gif) all non -transparent operations should be disected at this stage because its wide open to abuse and this magic art of running anonymous banks should be stopped if your going to open a bank you should be doxxed from the start BEFORE you take the first deposit ,insurances should be in place for when you get "hacked " pretty hilarious people starting looking for pirates address when he already had about $5.5 million dollars worth of untraceable money and no intention of giving any of it back

(Atlas, OTOH, has not done a damn thing of value that I can think of.)
I managed to delete over 10,000 Bitcoins in 2009. You're welcome. You also posted a suicide note on the internet. You are MNW and what you done has done more negative effect on the community than atlas and his suicide note who would care if atlas troll was swinging from a rope really ?

I don't see why Matthew should have to leave or exit or whatever. His reputation is now well established, rightfully labeled, and he will be treated accordingly on this forum. So if he stays, time will pass, people will calm down, forget, or forgive, and he'll just have to rebuild his rep from scratch.
i disagree ,he deserves a perma-bann and if any of the mods read this i hope they do it what other forum would allow a scammer to continue to taunt the victims of a scam in the aftermath ? it seem rather pointless that people get these scammer tags and then they have a licence to troll on and spam the board i didnt lose anything through his retarded scam but what about everyone he advised to "use it as a hedge " and win back your pirate losses etc debts that were worth a % of face value are now worth nothing thanks to MNW wasting 3 vital weeks when everyone should have been focusing on pirate and the money ,instead of doing that they were busy hedging it on matthews bet ........ it created a complete chaotic mess in the community at the worst possible time in the wake of the BTCST scam ,and one that wont be forgotten for a long time

Apologies mere hours after goading and laughing about a stunt like this are not going to save you
I will still blacklist companies you are involved with and encourage others to do the same
congratulations ,you fucked your friends businesses up as well as your own career
but at least you you got to keep the coins eh ...../
alls well that ends well .
|
|
|
They should also clarify if Matthew still has any equity in the company. ^This. As I said in another thread. If he's still profiting, I'm not buying. i wont be ordering any or helping any business to make a single bitcent where MNW is or was involved in it i dont care if he got fired ,it might take a few years of lost opportunitys but eventually MNW will know he fucked up and publicly laughing about the disruption he has caused wasnt the smartest thing he could have done

How can it be argued that taking almost 1 million $ in bets without any initial intention to pay in case of a loss is not scamming ?
Sorry but all those people, matthew, amir, patrick, donald, pirate etc. are giving an awful image of bitcoin and the facts that these behavior are semi tolerated is awful as well.
Bitcoin needs one things it is trust and some form of regulation.
Bitcoin has a savings + trust program already ,but hes not taking deposits at the moment there are already enough investors onboard at the moment .........

I will make a statement regarding this matter on behalf of Bitcoin Magazine and it's publisher Bittalk Media Ltd.
However, please do allow me some time to consult all the affected stakeholders. It might take a few days.
I've yet to purchase a Bitcoin Magazine because of MNW's involvement. If you can show that he is no longer involved in any way, shape, or form, you will have at least one new customer. I'm sure others would be willing to make a similar statement. Perhaps someone could start a new thread documenting exactly how many people would purchase a magazine if MNW was no longer involved? the magazine is as good as finished ,watch how many people order edition 4 after this
|
|
|
he offered the bet as a hedge against pirate losses and a lot of people didnt sell their pirate accounts for 75% -50% -25% etc because they thought they were sufficiently hedged either way
even if MNW didnt profit personally ,his scam cost a lot of people money so he deserves to be taxed as heavily as possible and it looks like the BTC magazine and other things are going to bear the brunt of the retribution and hes still on the forum laughing about it like some retarded kid
i thought he was one of the few decent people involved in bitcoin, now he just looks like a lying cheating scammer ,as if bitcoin needed another one of those ........

I will make a statement regarding this matter on behalf of Bitcoin Magazine and it's publisher Bittalk Media Ltd.
However, please do allow me some time to consult all the affected stakeholders. It might take a few days. Understood and prudent. I don't understand and this is not prudent, this was 3 weeks in the making. I would have had a contingency plan from the get go. This does not reflect well for them. The longer it takes the worse it gets. Period. And ban Matt from the forums. regardless ,of whether their are other shareholders in the magazine it helped matthew legitimise this scam by being their "Editor in chief " of bitcoin magazine and also a staff member of bitcointalk so he was in effect a figure people thought they could trust i wont be buying one ever and if i find out any more businesses hes involved in i will blacklist those as well

Now that the self-important scumbag has lost will he now STFU?
No way. We got a week and a half of that, "wanna bet" shit out of his mouth Now we get a month of "I followed through, you are all dumb" absolutely no reason why he shouldnt be perma-banned for this scam the sooner the better
|
|
|
so, did we learn our lesson?
Well I didn't have a bet but I did learn that Matt is immature, irresponsible, and reckless. I won't be trusting him or any person or company that associates with him. Not sure if that was the lesson he was trying to teach. great lesson for the bitcoin community ,even the people who speak publicly to the media to represent bitcoin are scammers pretty crappy way to exit from the bitcoin world MNW at least pirate made a clean exit with a profit of a few million $ MNW is going to be known as a scamming cunt for free ?

Even the slightest hint of a collusion with pirate, and no one will pay, its an unfair bet.
I think Matt may have had every intention of paying at first, but it grew out of hand, and now hes just going to see how high the community will push it...hell end up taking his scammer tags and say it was a lesson to teach us all about being greedy and how easy it is to be scammed. The irony being that no one got scammed, b/c very few expect him to pay.
I could be way off base, but that's what I think is happening here.
I will pay my bet even if there is 100% proof that Matthew is pirate. And if I lose I'll be paying it on the 9th. When I bet my money I fully expected him to pay and not paying bets is a scam whether the other person expected it or not. +1, Couldn't agree more. If I lose based on the rules of my thread, I will pay out exactly as outlined in my thread. No ifs, ands or buts about it! I guess everyone else doesn't realize that this isn't actually the bet thread that ended at 10,000 BTC. This is only a discussion about the bet where people such as Mat accept or reject other peoples arguments and opinions. Accepting these opinions in no way changes the original bet thread of 10,000 BTC. yes but the "official " bet spreadsheet has been updated with bets in excess of innitial 10k btc and matthew has accepted them i thought i knew what was happening but now im not so sure they have been able to do it enough to make it successful .... ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

|
Has the outcome of this bet been decided yet? Is the original thread missing, and why?
This thread was a weasly attempt by Pirate to back out knowing what was coming and the realization that he had actually placed 5k in escrow to cover the bet just sinking in.... YARRRRRRRRRR yes ,it was dirty trick to try and get vandroiy to fold the bet but actually those 5000 coins were BTCST coins until investors get paid in full did pirate personally lose them ? probably not so you can see how easy it was for him to gamble 5k outta of the btcst fund

Care to double down again? Time is getting close, I'll understand if you reject it.
2000 btc.
(Probably pushing my luck)
Done. if betting is still open double mine as well ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) 1000 1HMNpyKHTeeneTkjvAzM2j6zYY8kY9VZPr no guts, no glory! Done. ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) Matt wtf, none of these guys will pay out if you win I dont think matthew can win ,even if he has inside info...i think its wrong i would be shocked if Pirate even returned deposits never mind interest % accrued in the next 12 or so hours this bet is big ,but it isnt big enough to make pirate hand over the BTCST jackpot to win it

Joel... you're being an argumentative asshole. Patrick is willing to provide ample personal information to anyone depositing with him which provides plenty of recourse should anything happen. Why not troll some where else?
personal information is about as useful as yellow snow when an investment defaults Pirate has had all his details published multiple times and even sat in the same room with people a few weeks before his "investment defaulted" scammed everybodys money its like pirate part 2 , why does anyone need to borrow money at crazy rates if you are capable of making insane profits ?? joel is being attacked for asking very standard questions about the security of an investment by a few supporters of said investment does any of this sound familiar yet ?
