1581  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp rapid sell/buy coming? on: January 09, 2015, 08:34:32 PM
price will rapidly increase if they buy 19k coins...

The opposite will happen once 19k are sold.

agreed, 100%
Hah and what if the thief is holder? Grin
And even if not, selling 19k coins would send you to jail really fast.

take a plane to china ,a deal could be done easily in the managers office of some chinese exchange
its a differnt world over there ,you wont know until you have lived in it how corrupt every deal in china is
1582  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your action once Bitstamp reopens? on: January 09, 2015, 08:20:22 PM
How big do you think is the risk of just leaving 200+ coins on Stamp and wait for the next bubble? I mean if they come back, they effectively proven themselves to be trustworthy and pull through with their promises. And I bet they will increase their security measures even further.

Completely moved to BTC-E. Bitstamp will have to prove they are here to stay.

But BTC-E??? I mean they have proven to be pretty reliable and not to mess with peoples' BTC. But the people behind the exchange are completely unknown, if they wanted to disappear, I don't think anyone knew where to look for them. I don't know if that's the best choice then. What about Kraken?

Finally, Bitstamp is back, but the whole "hack" thing is too shady, you know. We'll probably never be lucky enough to know the real story behind the scenes. It all might be just an epic manipulation going on there. With BTC-E, I'm confident enough to store or trade some coins. Besides, in the Bitcoin world, you can trust nobody these days. Cons can't wait to get their hands on your coins.

the only problem with btc-e is that nobody knows all that much about it and theres very little regulation in that part of the world so they could do a gox if they felt like it at any time and im not comfortable with that

until theyre are insured exchanges i wont be trading because to make 0.5% or 1%  or whatever  i need to risk 100% due to hacks and gox like stunts and i think this is keeping big fish investors out of  btc atm
1583  Economy / Speculation / Re: will bitcoin rise or fall on: January 09, 2015, 08:14:36 PM
IMO, Bitcoin will prevail. It always has. But that is not to say that there won't be competitors. Bitcoin can be seen as the Grandfather, while its children bring new and improved versions of what Bitcoin has started.

the grandfather isnt going to die though so i dont think its very valid to compare .......
and many features newer coins "invent" can be worked into the next version of btc

i would much rather have a stash of btc in 10-20yrs than some alt but thats just me .......
1584  Economy / Speculation / Re: volatility of bitcoin vs. fiat on: January 09, 2015, 07:54:04 PM
I know for a fact that the cryptocurrency markets are manipulated routinely.

Something like the 90% of all bitcoins are owned by 2% of the users(whales). Do you think you are in for a fair fight?

the only way you can change that is by .............buying bitcoins
now theyre only 270usd it opens up the way for more people to get a few

of course the rich will only get richer but probably even more than  90% of the worlds oil is owned by under 2% of the population (whales if you will )
whoever said life or wealth distribution was fair ??
1585  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your action once Bitstamp reopens? on: January 09, 2015, 07:47:44 PM
Bitstamp opened Wink

its back  Cool
but what happens now ?

lets see if they buckle when everyone wakes up and tries to withdraw ...............
1586  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100.000$ investment on: January 09, 2015, 07:42:16 PM
This must be a troll buy anyway, don't go all in in BTC, diversify with 4 more crypto options, just in case one of them comes out a winner.

i would say the opposite ,alts are mainly all pump and dump so people can get more btc anyway before the alts are dumped leaving them near worthless
i would just get btc when prices are this low

theres plenty of people who have faith in btc and the ecosystem that is being built around it

look how much some people have invested and they dont seem to be cashing out in any kind of panic :

1587  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100.000$ investment on: January 09, 2015, 07:18:12 PM
there are plenty of people with literally thousands of coins working hard to see btc doesnt fail
people have some very interesting ideas such as roger ver and the winklevoss twins among others

nothing except death is certain in this life but i think this would be a great time to get 100k worth of btc
IF you are not in a great rush to see returns

i believe they will come ,but it maybe in 3-6 months or 2-5 years etc

we know it can rise fast on good news ,imagine the next good news is the ETF being launched and coins are
traded as legit assetts on wall st or the reward halfing i imagine will double the price of coins used

expect more darknet sites too as well as more legit vendors combined with a scarcity of btc and youve easily
doubled your money if not tripled it or maybe even more .........
1588  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your action once Bitstamp reopens? on: January 09, 2015, 06:59:38 PM
Bitstamp will never reopen. All bitcoins and fiat traders deposited there, were stolen by the Bitstamp owners. They'll declare insolvency and bankruptcy very soon.

it might open ................but for how long ??
there will surely be a run on the bank if it does open (hopefully they can cover it )

whos going to trust a brand new system thats only been "tested" for a couple of days with coin or cash ??
i cant see then regaining popularity  or doing the previous volumes after this whether the coins are repaid or not

trust is vital in any money handling business and i think the bulk of customers wont use them again and will demand their coins back from the cold storage

the chance of this rises the longer it takes them to come back online and the more bullshit excuses and delays they are throwing out.......
1589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop saying the Bitstamp coins were dumped!! They are right $%&#ing here -- > on: January 09, 2015, 03:02:51 PM
All the while they are holding their clients money hostage. How would you feel if you had rent to pay and your bank told you they had to fix their software before you could withdraw your money? I bet you'd be looking for another bank pretty damn quick. It's funny how people tolerate excuses in Bitcoinland that would never be tolerated in the real world. I guess people don't really see Bitcoin as money.

Bitstamp is not a bank. If their customers didn't use it like a bank they wouldn't have had all those coins in their hot wallet and it would have been a much smaller loss.

it doesnt matter one bit ,if they cant secure a hot  wallet properly they should not be in the business of holding hundreds of millions of dollars of btc for their community, the excuse/result would be the exact same if the cold wallet got "hacked" too  and everything was gone .........

this "hacked" bullshit get thrown around way too much and too easily  with no more or less no reprecussions to whoever was in charge and either did it or let it happen ........
1590  Economy / Speculation / Re: The lower the price the worse for Bitcoin? on: January 09, 2015, 12:48:58 PM
it could go the opposite way
10 dollar coins could get a new load of people involved that couldnt afford to buy in before
when a coin costed around 600usd

i doubt this matters to the 500 richest guys anyway ,they are probably filthy rich anyway
and bought btc as some sort of hedge investment
1591  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp most likely will buy back the bitcoins they lost on: January 09, 2015, 12:42:24 PM
i think he can afford the best security money can buy and anyway ,nobody knows for sure if he has those coins or not ,we just think he does

im sure he wont be making his whereabouts public knowledge so anyone looking for him would have to pick a country first
then a city etc and track him down somehow

and with a chunk of fudge that size ,he can move around ,stay in hotels ,live in luxury etc

theres no reason to think hes going to be assinated anytime soon although it would be nice lol

Yes, but every employee in any hotel he stays in will immediately recognize him because of his distinctively fat appearance. He will immediately get recognized anywhere else he goes in public for the same reason.

but he can afford to stay in exotic far off  locations ,well out of harms way
its not like the internet warriors who threatened him have their own private jets to investigate every sighting at a moments notice
also many asian hotels may not even know what a bitcoin is ,never mind who karpeles is and what he is accused off....
and thats assuming he still uses the same name ,which he probably doesnt while renting accomodation etc

theyre going to hang him up by the balls for the conspiracy to murder charges alone
running silk rd will be an afterthought imo

Except the conspiracy to commit murder charge has no merit...and they know it. Hence why it's not really being pursued.

some female judge ruled last week that the murder plotting  charges have merit and he will have to answer for them .........
google it if you think im lying .........

1594  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp most likely will buy back the bitcoins they lost on: January 09, 2015, 11:29:00 AM
Owners supposedly both have 23 million eur (each).

+5 million VC.

If they don't reimburse, Bitstamp is probably dead. VC lose 5 million anyway.
Reputation is worth a lot (who wants to be next Mark Karpeles?)

If 5-6 million is all they lost, it's probably managable.

Perhaps they could issue company shares to those who lost BTC.

we'll see.

The Bitstamp owners are likely to have heard about Karples fears for his safety. When Gox went bankrupt people here speculated he would be dead within the year. From the Bitstamp owners point of view it might be worth paying $5 million out of their own pockets even if Bitstamp eventually closes. They would still be rich and not have the fears for their safety that Karples has to live with. I'd be afraid to be in Karples shoes.

its hardly even comparable to put stamp in the same category as gox ,

under karpeles  gox "lost" 550,000 btc as well as millions and millions of dollars in cash accounts

and the fat fuck still hasnt seen any punishment that i know of but even if he did

it would probably be a slap on the wrist token sentence for not having tight enough security ........

for that amount of money i would also accept a slap on the wrist and move the coins to some secret wallet
as i suspect he has done .....hel get probably 3-6 months if even .......maybe less
1595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new fiat slaves, gentlemen. on: January 09, 2015, 07:54:54 AM
I dont get it. The lower it goes the lower a chance is it will go even lower.
The worst thing is stagnation

wrong. The lower it goes the lower the chance it will come back up and the higher the risk of total failure. The worst thing that can happen is it goes to below 1$ and stays there.
This is not your average commodity.

if it went under a dollar i think there would be buying frenzy
people would gamble a few hundred bucks on the off chance
it spikes again ...........but it wont happen so dont worry about it

Some altcoin will still survive, no doubt.  They're fairly resilient.

One altcoin will eventually surpass Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the first, and as evolution has shown us, the first draft never lasts long as there are always changes for the better.

i am not so sure,it takes people a long time to catch onto something like a krypto coin
still to this day most of the world doesnt know what is a btc

to try and move them onto some unheard of altcoin will be an even bigger challenge when bitcoin
is a lot more established than it is now not to mention the merchants who are having enough trouble
accepting btc ..........
1598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is BTC dev non-existent? on: January 09, 2015, 07:41:13 AM
if people actually got paid for their work there might be a lot more progress

banks and financial institutiions pay millions for their infrastructure  development teams ..........

develop something for a crypto- your going to have to fund it yourself and work for free  until it starts making money
and most people have bills to pay so they cant dedicate a few months to working full time on an experimental
bitcoin app that may not result in any returns ..............just saying
Two developers are getting paid by The Bitcoin Foundation (wumpus and someone else, I forgot their name). Once again, please educate yourself before stating something like this.

2 .........................a whole fucking 2 for the entire btc world ...............
do you think thats enough or youre just trolling ??

You're making the big assumption that they will be back. I highly doubt that. Just look at the other hacked exchanges, even where hotwallets were stolen, they all promised to come back very shortly, then postponed, then vanished into thin air. The same will likely happen this time. Add to that the big incoming dumps... very bright future... lolll

Justcoin eventually closed after being hacked, but they asked everyone to withdraw all their funds before they closed. That's one hacked exchange that did not do things the way you described. In fact they were hacked, resumed trading, then closed because their countries banks were ordered to stop doing business with exchanges.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2kkmj2/justcoin_is_shutting_down_withdraw_your_funds/

Dear Justcoin user,
Deposits are closed. Trading will close tomorrow, October 29th. We urge all users to withdraw their funds as soon as possible. Final deadline for withdrawals is November 11th. You may find useful information on wallets at https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet.
Please allow up to 24 hours for your withdrawals to process. We will manually batch withdrawals of all currencies. Cancelling a requested withdrawal will put you in the back of the line.

Poloniex and BitNZ were both hacked, lost coins, and still came back fine. It depends upon the amount of coins stolen, and 19k is probably manageable for Bitstamp. They have VC capital to cover it, and the main shareholders are multi-millionaires.

VC capitalists are in this to make money
not refund massive fuckups like this
i would be surprised if the pantera group used their own 5.2 million to reinburse customers
they will evaluate staying open against bankrupty and do whatever is cheaper for them
customers will be an afterthought.........
