if theyre not there because of security issues i might understand it since they hold  180,000 btc which is well worth stealing  ?

Someone takes their troops up a huge high rise in the heart of San Fran in the heart of the Financial District and expect to get out without a small medium war going off?

That's why you get the office in the Financial District and not Oakland...

SF Financial District doesn't have half hour police response time and most buildings have a security guard or concierge.

banks and jewellery stores have been robbed for a lot less in the past ...........
have you tried their email or telephone to see if anyone can answer whats up ?

7 years and the estimation of Bitcoin's userbase is only 250,000 persons.  Whatsapp is newer than Bitcoin and has 600 million users.  There's actually countless examples of tech and products that all acquired more users in their first year than Bitcoin has done over 6+ years.

whatsapp is free and doesnt have to overcome the legal hurdles to beat international banking laws and a million other reasons why uptake will be slower
there is no comparison

Bitcoin is free.  I don't ever recall having to pay to download the QT wallet, or having to pay to use a faucet.  Example fail.  Even Cointelegraph had an article the other day about Bangladeshi students converting their BTC freebies to buy burgers for lunchtime.

Besides there's a lot of paid stuff out there with way more users than Bitcoin.

ok ,how much does a burger cost in bangladesh ?

 8 cents in the article
http://cointelegraph.com/news/113324/my-amsterdam-letdown-and-why-bitcoins-real-value-may-lie-beyond-the-first-world

They made a quarter of an adult's daily wage just for 15 minutes of work of hitting up faucets.  Somebody can move to Bangladesh and live like a king off Bitcoin faucets.

i would like an 8 cent burger sent to a lab to be tested before eating it lol
beef aint that cheap ANYWHERE  Cheesy

facebook isnt effectively a bank ........you could storm their office with an ak-47 and leave with nothing

coinbase has that problem ,facebook doesnt

No one is storming anything with anything first off.

This is America and everyone should be or at least act like a business man.

Give me a fucking break... coinbase is like a big faceless bank that is located SOMEWHERE unknown to me in my back yard that just fucked me with a 10 hour timer and a source code that went to a 10 hour troll video that was supposed to be reported for porn.

I <3 Bitcoin and I'm not here to troll bitcoin or anything, but something isn't right.  Remember the Ocupy Wall Street thing?  Ya that was right across where  they print a large some of the counties money... GL storming a high rise and getting out too.  Roll Eyes

I'm not alone... the State of California issued their warning and I missed a call from Tom Dresslar just to confirm it.

I yoloed in BTC thinking that SF would become the Golden Gate City again, but for the Digital Currency age lead by Coinbase.

if theyre not there because of security issues i might understand it since they hold  180,000 btc which is well worth stealing  ?

if they are lying and have never been there or pulling some scam people have a right to ask

i am not one of their customers but it does seem unprofessional if they are running this from someones bedroom  and everything else was lies

1 Zinger fillet burger
1 Portion spicy wings
1 Mash potato in gravy
1 Large  fries
1 Large  Coke

and then go drink coffee for good health   Cheesy

I would be very leary of leaking actual headquarters locations. If there was a planned attack to gain control of wallets under their control, thieves could make off with millions in under an hour. Let that sink in.

That is retarded. (no offense)

FB has a headquarters and they make it known same most other people who aren't doing sketchy shit.

You think FB has a corner office stacked with their billions?

Let that sink in.

I appreciate all the effort they are putting out, they take tons of criticism but keep on trucking. But I wish they would stop throwing out market cap/price per btc  estimates (even if they truly believe it), it really damages their credibility. when the 2 holding 1% of the pie claim it will go from $300 to $40k....

id be more worried if they said they didnt have any btc and were opening an ETF and a regulated  exchange
their 1%  will keep them motivated

i bet they will love the day when btc is worth more than facebook -just to stick it to zuckerberg Cheesy

don't you think, since BTC price is sooooooooo easy to manipulate, that robber-barons like these twin douches will just manipulate the hell out of it until its broke?
The EFT just replaces the money they spent on BTC. If they break BTC, its no worries for their pocketbooks
point to winklevii
and before you all start saying "but its a regulated ETF, they cant manipulate..."
its wallstreet, if there is money to be made, they will squeeze every penny out. no matter the ethics, rules, laws, or "love of the technology"

these two guys might kill BTC, and I think they might just have the blessing of the powers that be. The powers have wanted it dead for too long.

they cant break bitcoin .........even their 1% is not enough
1470  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or stockmarket? on: January 28, 2015, 03:20:00 AM
Well you also can count on stocks like CocaCola, Apple or Microsoft to continue gaining strenght over years.

Why would you assume that? What percentage of fortune 500 companies maintain dominance today vs 50 years ago?

Most People would laugh at you if you suggested Kodak would need to file for bankruptcy 20 years ago.
Look how quickly history has unfolded though and how a small finish company out of nowhere was able to outsell cameras within 1 year.
Yup, but we are talking at least 10 years in time and monopolies of CocaCola as king of drinks and Apple and Microsoft as king of computers have 0, 0, absolutely 0 real competence. Pepsi? Linux? Lol, not gonna happen. These are safe.

i thought pepsi co. was already worth more than coke ?
but i cant drink pepsi ,il always go for coke if theres a choice Smiley

Don't know how to spell their name but I don't care either.

According to the IRS bitcoin isn't a currency so it wouldn't be illegal to place your bets in bitcoin I put 2 BTC on floyd who is with me?
Put your money where your mouth is.

what are your  odds ? has mayweather even signed the contract yet ?

i use galaxy note 4 and i love it .......custom rom obviously though  Smiley
about to move to cm 12 on android 5.0 once they work out the bugs

I was looking at the Galaxy note series. They are pretty expensive! don't think I could justify spending that much on a phone. I paid 250euro no contract for my Galaxy S gt-i9000 and that was 5 years ago!

they are top of the range but i use it xx hours a day so i want the best screen and fastest phone i can get
it does almost everything my laptop can do .....
great camera too ,amazing pics
1475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: - on: January 28, 2015, 02:49:15 AM
What do you guys think is the best Android phone to get?

I might be in the market for a new phone soon and I have no idea what to get. I don't need a really high-spec phone, I only use my phone for calls/texts/email/youtube. I currently have a GT-i9000. I'd like to get a large screen phone. I also run cyanogenmod and I'd prefer a device that can run it.

So what do you guys think are the best Android phones available now?

the boffin guy who was the front man in usa should be facing felony charges for fraud and deception and god knows what else

its unbelieveable that everyones just letting him off when he was responsible for the USA fronting of the company

WTF is the accountability for him ?

Doesn't exist. Deleted his reddit & twitter accounts.  Just into the thin air... Chat logs show that he knew he was being negligent and should investigate his anonymous partner, yet decided willingly not to.  The company accounts and american name i believe was in his name. So how is it that he has dissapeared, and nothing... I don't even believe there is a real court case on this. All BS

the guys name was landon iirc
if he opened bank accounts for moolah /mintpal stateside someone will have his details

no reason he should go scott free at all ,hes totally responsible for the usa side of the scam and partially responsible for the other countries
when he agreed to the manager  of a scam
1478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: January 28, 2015, 01:31:38 AM
I'm a bit perplexed.

I thought bitcoin ownership and conversion is perfectly legal in the U.S.  Or is it a state-by-state basis?

Or perhaps he was just doing this unreported and did not pay a single penny of tax on it? If so, then I have no sympathy for him, that's clearly breaking the law.

Ofcourse thats not a whole story. Seriously think hes only buying and selling for his own investment? Thats what he will use for defense. FEDs might have more than that.

That's what I'm thinking.  Otherwise, FEDs would be having a field day prosecuting thousands of sellers on localbitcoins over the past 2 years.  There's got to be more on this story regarding some deeper illicit activities, and most likely tax evasion on a grand scale  (which, does not matter whether you're selling bitcoins or shit on ebay...you'll eventually get hit)

It is perfectly possible that he traded coins connected to illicit activities, without knowing. Normally people don't talk about that, unless they are really really stupid, or sting agents.

And naturally, the Feds will go after the source.

Another possibility is that they are going for the big fish first, trying to scare the "thousands of sellers on localbitcoins" because it is a bit too expensive even for big government, to send 35 highly paid henchmen after each of them.

This is what the German Bafin is doing, they scare individuals to stop them selling Bitcoins (which is possibly the reason why LBC banned Germany). It is not illegal in Germany to trade BTC without a license on a non-business basis, but the legal threats stop most people because they don't want the hassle and expense.  Sad

It's not really expensive since there is a 1/4 million dollar fine and all his bit coins and money and property will be seized as well as all computer equipment

I think that's more than enough to cover the price of sending some goons to his house for an hour or two so a nice profit to be made busting anyone else who is doing anything "illegal"  in btc

Yeah easily..they would be making really good profit out of it..without a doubt.!

Going to bust Charlie schrem made them another million usd
The silkroad  btc seller guy got $950,000 fine as well as some jail iirc

That's an easy 2 million from two quick arrests, I assume burtw will be another easy million $ for them

Let's not even talk about ross ulbright and his hundreds of millions of dollars worth..... Although they probably wasted more money looking for him
You need to take into consideration the money it will cost to prosecute them as well as the cost of a trial. I don't know if it would cost a million dollars or not, however they would need to pay for the DA, the staff in the DA's office, they need to give all the evidence against them to the defendant (this alone probably cost close to a million dollars in Ross's case), pay for court security, for the judge, for the jury (potentially for hotels/meals for the jury if they are sequestered ). The list goes on.

who do you think pays the wages of the police and courts ? they are not working solely  from the bitcoins they can seize Cheesy
they get their salary from the taxpayer anyway
feds getting millions of btc to auction off is just a christmas bonus  lol
The money collected from fines and civil forfeiture goes from the general fund that pays for the government. The general fund is also paying for these expenses. However if something is not going to be cost effective then the government is not going to pursue it. For example they are not going to prosecute a speeding ticket if it will cost them thousands of dollars, doing so would just not make any sense.

it all depends on the situation .......
ive seen them waste shitloads of money before on charges where they would never make a profit on

someone speeding  on a car or motorcycle who  fails to pull over will result in a police chase involving maybe a dozen cars on the ground and even  police helicopters
theres no way theyre going to recover whatever all that cost from a  drunk driver or whatever ............
