Just set my account, BURST-BWJ6-KJFE-M3CP-4XYW6
-ANNOUNCEMENT-

The pool at http://mine.burstcoin.info needs miners. There is also an asset you can buy into there that will provide you with extra income. The connection was killed at a very unfortunate time, and thus the pool lost quite a few of it's miners. Now I am going to do this in order to get some back! So, here goes...

The next 25 miners to join the pool, PM me with their burst address, and wait for me to see them on the list of stats on the pool, will be sent 1,500 burst!

The 25 after that to do the same thing, will receive 1,000 burst.

The 25 after that will receive 750 burst.

We will start with that, and see how it goes. I am more than willing to do more giveaways.

The pool server has been solid now for a good while since the incident with the storm, and we shouldn't be experiencing issues like that again. So, let's get our power back and become the pool that we can be!

**Note, I also have another pool that's unofficially related to this pool, but it's private and no fee, and located in the US. If you're interested in that pool you can PM me. Not sure how long it will stick around, or if I will merge with the other pool, it all depends on the miner count and blocks found, etc.**

Just set my account , already PMd you my address...

Got the PM thanks I already sent you your 1500!

Just so that everyone knows there are 13 people already taken me up on my giveaway, that means 12 left for the 1500.

Maybe if I'm feeling nice after the first 25, I'll do 1500 for the next 25 as well. We'll see how it goes!

Thank you everyone!

I'll give your pool another shot...sending 25TB your way...

Much appreciated good sir. I am going on my lunch break at work right now, so I will be gone for an hour or so, so don't think I disappeared, I'm still here, just at lunch, and I will reply when I get back to anyone who messages me during my lunch, check the stats then send payments for all who took me up on my offer. Thanks!

Just set my reassignement to test your pool  Cool

Make sure to PM me your burst address because I don't have access to the pool's wallet. Thanks!

uray, your miner reads plots by 4kB chunks. Maybe better enlarge that size? Even clustersizes are upto 64kB.

And what about single read-thread per path?

yeah its possible, but currently i am busy working on wallet

hy uray,

which features are you implementing on wallet???
if it is possible to know!!!

 Wink Wink Wink Wink

i am integrating java miner & plotter into wallet, and convert it to desktop app

This looks amazing. Keep up the good work

yes its great, can't wait to test it Smiley

Uray, its Wulfcastle here, designer of the current Wallet UI & Burst Logo/OP Graphics.

I dumped all of my BURST around a month back, mainly due to the supply being diluted with around ~3.7 Million BURST per day, but now it has reached the point where BURST has enough infrastructure, largely thanks to you, to make a big push to compete with the big names in the crypto-space. Everything is virtually set in place, all BURST needs now is an easier to use client and miner (which is what your desktop application will accomplish) and the right marketing and promotion, which I can provide.

If you have a test version ready of your desktop app for Windows that I can try out, I will come back to BURST and begin designing and promoting BURST once again.

There is also another GUI in development at burst.today of which the dev is finally able to dedicate some more time to it. Should be up and running soon as well. BURST is ready for bigtime now!

will send some TB towards your pool, you deserve a nice restart Smiley

Word, thanks! PM me your BURST addy, and when I see you in the stats, I'll send your 1500 bonus.

Also, just so everyone knows, I pulled all the power from my private pool and put it on mine.burstcoin.info. As soon as I did, we hit a block. I put another 50+TB there just now. So we're growing nicely.

8 payouts have been completed for the giveaway so far, so there are still plenty of 1500's available for people. Thanks!

I am wondering if mining on a 5400 rpm HDD has the same performance as a 7200 rpm hdd.If their capacity is the same.

You're wondering loudly. lol.

I honestly don't know since I haven't run anything but 7200 RPMs, but I don't believe there should be that much of a difference. Maybe someone with a little more knowledge on the underside of how burst actulally mines could tell you.

But I would say it's definitely fine to mine on them, and it won't be that much of a difference.
2191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New version 1.1.3 on: October 11, 2014, 11:51:46 PM
Since this has been around for a while, I think it's important to ask... Is there any wear and tear done by this kind of mining, any loss of performance? Specially on SSD's...

Make sure your HDDs aren't parking often, this will kill them fast. If they do, add something like this to 'crontab -e':

Code:
*/2 * * * * echo `/bin/date` > /Volumes/hdd1/keepalive.txt
*/2 * * * * echo `/bin/date` > /Volumes/hdd2/keepalive.txt

Also, ensure plot files aren't fragmented and large enough stagger is used so they're read sequentially. This way tear should be minimal.

For SSDs the above doesn't matter much, reading during mining shouldn't put much stress on them.

p.s. Regarding storj: most ppl I talked to don't like the idea of storing files on their hdds (even encrypted ones). They're afraid of illegal content potentially being stored. Burst doesn't store any real data and many view this as an advantage.

I agree about the storage part,  I don't think burst needs to worry about becoming decentralized storage, the issue you mentioned as well as bandwidth come into play, also, not sure how they would work it with so many people having different connections and speeds. but yea... BURST doesn't need to be storage, it's the mining that's the innovation here.

it COULD however, be a decentralized marketplace, with escrow. That could already happen, and would be a great plan. IMO

Hey bro, do you still that nice PSU you showed me for sale?

yea... but i was gonna build a new cpu with it instead....

Okay right on no worries, I just bought an i7 3960X 12 core and motherboard, now I need some mem and power supply, and a case, etc.

thanks anyway.

Sure let's do it, you wanna PM me? Also, if you would take paypal from a verified address and ebay user with 127 positive 100% feedback.

I prefer to use paypal right now due to btc prices.

Sorry Only BTC. Check PM

PM replied, I just don't want to spend BTC at the moment. If you reconsider on paypal I will do it right now. Thanks!

uray, I'm trying to use your miner. When it starts up, it basically reads what's in the config file, then just sits there. No errors, nothing. Any idea what's going on with it?

can you give cumshot?

I mean screenshot..

Never does anything else.

Edit: how do I make this image show up?

Edit2: got it

your O/S network fucked up, it was the problem i don't know the cause and the solution other than use another miner because i can't reproduce here, sorry about that

Ook, anyone have any idea how to mine without making my system completely unusable?

Hey bro, I can help you out. I will PM you with my skype info.

Seems like the dev is actually listening and promoting... Just look at the title... Do you see POC anymore? HDD is way better!

And as I said before, you cannot promote a coin which can fail in some cases. It is important to share doubts and issues related to mining because it has both to be mined and both to be reliable.
This isn't a way to say "let's only speak about mining". Everything has to be complementary.

Instead of whining because we only speak about mining, start to speak about possible investments and strategies to raise its value. Here many people aren't only miner, they are also investors and will be glad to participate to this kind of discussion.

Don't understand why some people would complain about people asking for support for mining, this is an open thread and not moderated.

These same people are judging people and/or complaining, why not be a part of the solution and be proactive? Mining question swill always exist and needed to keep the minting for the currency. They forget that this coin hasn't surpass the 6 month mark or a year yet, but already want to complain so much. If a year later there is no advancements, then they can start talking all the mess they want to. BTC and LTC had the similar judgements too in their first year.

Maybe the dev can put more on the OP for promotions, products and services, open floor for people to suggest/materialize ideas. Also, maybe more assets to use with Burst.

Agreed, what needs to happen is for everyone to QUIT COMPLAINING, and START HELPING.

I for one, am fully mining, owning pools, hosting assets, investing in burst assets and the coin itself, and holding all that I mine.

Doing all that I can to help the price, writing guides, hosting pools, sending hardware, mining for assets... anything that I can possibly do. If everyone did that, we'd already be one of the top coins.

So yea, stop complaining about things, and if you think something should happen, MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

my 2 burst. Wink
