2222  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 12, 2015, 05:26:21 AM
Algorithmic maximum = 20,999,999.9769 BTC [ https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units ]
what will happen to them ?

I hope long before achieving that maximum the mankind will switch over to some resource-oriented economics and money will become obsolete.

Try to extend your knowledge horizon here:

wasn't it @ one time your hand shake was your word or you paid with a  chicken etc .

or you took off one shoe usually the right foot and then followed thu on the deal.

I'm not even sure in history why money came to play, i guess that chicken wasn't enough or that hand shake became a way of stealing like per orders now .

I agree the way things are  right now money is destroying everything not just the US dollar either . when i grow up every one had it money no one really wanted for a thing etc.

in 2016 I'm hoping that bitcoins halving makes bitcoins  even more value able and miner prices drop down were it is very afford able for everyone like it should be now and was for a while or

the BTC price pass what it cost for gear so it doesn't mater what hey charge  with in reason.

when  bitcoins started I remember reading about it and thought another get rich scheme, boy was i wrong, i Polly would be a million air now if i had done it back then i had the PC power etc .
2223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best and Cheap Scrypt Mining Hardware? on: September 12, 2015, 05:13:52 AM
This is best answered here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0  it will get moved by the rules . Smiley .

and for 40 bucks you wont get much Polly need to spend more like 150 $ to do what seems worth while.

but 40 might get you one  grindseed for learning with everything you need to mine with it, but a PI  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gridseed-ASIC-Scrypt-SHA-256-USB-Dual-BTC-LTC-Miner-Silver-Gold-USB-Cable-/111769039180?hash=item1a05f4314c there is not much out there at that price that will do much more then a CPU can .

it does both sha256 and Scrypt coins aka alt coins .
2224  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.3.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, GekkoScience Compac on: September 12, 2015, 04:51:46 AM

--failover-only means it will only mine on one pool unless that pool goes down then it jumps to your back up pool . Smiley.

to balance mine as i call it set it like this --balance that will jump between all your pools and mine them and check when it needs to jump back to a pool it set  certain a mount of hash for . I'm not very good at explaining in techie talk , way better at lay man terms, i understand all the techie talk etc .

If the bfminer.conf  doesn't work look at the logs to see if it's set up wrong if it gave no error then make it executable like this

 sudo chmod +x  bfminer.conf

it should be stored either in the root or in the BFG folder .

if you use chmod 777 be care full unless doing a complete reinstall is OK or you don't mind .  it can make the PI refuse access if used wrong or on the wrong folders, so i found out.
2225  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 replace fan on: September 12, 2015, 04:36:27 AM
Can i use the delta fan tfc1212de 3.9A on antminer S5 or the 3.9Amper its so much for S5 controller?
How else controlling this fan for only 3.000-4.000rpm and not full load at 5.500rpm?
Thank you!

no those fans wont work on S5 controllers, tried it , in fact a lot here have, some have even bricked a S5 or two because they kept pushing it .

there is a way of speed controlling them off a PSU http://www.ebay.com/itm/181694032917?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT  I don't know how well it works, i have two laying around i bought for the hell of it.I  have no need for even on  my grindseed, i found way quieter fans that work. I'll use them one day to see how they work .

I just linked it for you as a option.Smiley .
2226  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 12, 2015, 04:25:01 AM
By 2060 we should be able to upload our consiousness to server farms where we can live forever digitally. Around the same time, Bitmain will be releasing the S2000, for 18.6 million USD(inflation...), which will allow miners to live inside the blockchain.  Buyers of the S1999 will be offered $100 coupons.

LMAO, but true it can happen.
2227  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 12, 2015, 03:58:50 AM
My mom plans on living to 100, and I'm her retirement policy, so I need to see at least 74 which carries me to 2060. Gonna be interesting to see what the network's doing then, when block rewards are about 0.01BTC per day.

By 2060  il be dust if I'm not then I'll still be doing it unless it cost to much aka no gear or the cost of used gear is not worth it or the coin it self is worthless. o yea , if the leaders of the US don't total destroy the US by then that seems that's in there mind set to do or they are bent on hell to do, right now.

My mom just hit 80 she wants to live till 90 +, she told me the other day .
2228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: September 12, 2015, 02:59:47 AM
the average life span of a mining company seems to be about 12 months...whatever happened to gridseed?

GridSeed + WiiBox + Diginforce = SFARDS

don't forget to add  Zeus at the end, Zeus and grindseed got together then  it slowly faded away if i find that I'll link it, it all happen about the time or at the time  Zeus did the ripe off thing .

Here we go

https://zeusminer.com/forums/topic/yahoo-finnance-zeushash-announces-gridseed-partnership-thanksgiving-promotion/

I still say Zeus had some thing to do with stopping L1's which left a bad taste in bitmains month and one reason we don't get much more from anyone, they really did a number .

sadly like some one said why  even bro posting it here unless it is for the free advertisement they get  ?

the price is beyond what most here are willing to pay for etc, they know it .

what would be a better place then here ?.

it's free all most any one or every one into bitcoins is here at some point in there day week month etc that includes the Big data centers and knc etc .

or does Sfards aka grindseed pay to post here ? no idea !!! .
2229  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 11, 2015, 11:17:28 PM
Well, everyone that has posted here would probably be dead by that time. But if bitcoin survives as we know it and keeps being used though all those years it's unlikely that mining will stop. Right now the miners are mining the block reward plus the fees of transactions in each block. That means that even when the reward is zero, miners are still going to receive the fees as a reward. I can't wait until 2016 halvening btw.  Cheesy

I can't either i want it to come i  some how only see good from it .....  2016 i mean.

I have no plans what so ever to stop mining any time soon the only thing that will stop me is no miner to be bought or the used ones are to out of date to be worth the buy or i Die.
2230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S7 controller has nine 18- pin jacks So what can we do with it? on: September 11, 2015, 10:59:42 PM
all my 18 pins cables are sold.  Cry
some 16 pins ones left.

I didn't expect so much interest.
I'll take 200 more with my next order from this supplier, approximately 3 weeks delay.

Still got some 16 pins left ill take 4 , or just wait ?. ....  btw

i ordered one of your PSU plugs with PCEI cables ends best thing  i ever did, I m gonna order one or two more  this week coming and found some new PSU's to match it on Ebay and  they are new with a year warranty,  it came to day for 20  bucks free shipping .

PSU on ebay  http://www.ebay.com/itm/111681971957?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

your thingly

http://holybitcoin.com/product/hp-1200-watt-common-slot-psu-bundle/

nothing at all against holybits site  but shipping all most the cost of a PSU.

but i love that site .

2231  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what happens to the bitcoin mining hardware after reaching Algorithmic maximum ? on: September 11, 2015, 10:54:27 PM
i guess the mining hardware would just be used to mine other altcoins.
By the time it gets close I assume the miners will all be dual chips like the ones we currently have (sha/scrypt) to keep this going but by that time if Bitcoin is still going I would be impressed but too bad we will all be dead.

speak for yourself I am going to use my btc to buy the fountain of youth I plan to be alive for 500+ years.

back to op's question.

july 2016 = 12.5

dec 2018 = 6.25

aug 2021 = 3.125

jan 2024  = 1.5625

sept 2026 = 0.78125

feb  2029 = 0.390625   I will be 72

oct  2031 = 0.1903125

mar 2034 = 0.095156125  I will be 77    the network will be making about 13.7 coins a day  if the network exists  coins will be worth a lot

18 year later in 2052 I will be 96   the network will be making .099 coins a day   we still won't be at your  question yet.

I will venture this.  btc has died or humans have died or it is all good coins at about 20 k usd each and it all works on transactions fees.

sept 2026 = 0.78125 I'll be 70 i plan to live at least to see 80.

i guess mining in 2026 starts not to be worth it or is but hard as hell to do ?.

2232  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 5.3.0: GBT+Stratum, RPC, Mac/Linux/Win64, GekkoScience Compac on: September 11, 2015, 12:08:46 PM

CD is a  mistake sorry you should all ready be in root , mybad.  but it can  be used in case you need it.

I had issue using chmod 777  were it stopped the PI from working, I guess it gave to many rights to too many folders . I tried chmod 777 to see .

bug fix, nah just another way of doing it, till luke fixes it. it not doing it's checks right for the Git tree . but the normal zip file is 5.3 .

making a bfminer.conf should work the same way still, only diff is I'm using a Zip file you can't  use sudo ./autogen.sh because that only works with Git tree files form what i see, everything else should work the same.  be care full how you use chmod 777 or you may have to do a reinstall on your PI .

You already mention --enable-broad-udevrules just few post above, I'm wondering, will it hurt adding --enable-gridseed in addtion?

I understand luke mentions about a bug and I quess I'll wait alse!

I built bfgminer from source today on a Raspberry Pi and the version returned from the resulting binary is 5.2 instead of 5.3:

Code:
./bfgminer --version
bfgminer 5.2.0-9-g484db74

This was a completely clean checkout and the usual configure, make, make install pattern:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/luke-jr/bfgminer.git
cd bfgminer/
./autogen.sh
./configure --enable-scrypt --enable-broad-udevrules
make
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig

Is this just a cosmetic problem with the version number, or is 5.3 not really on the git trunk?

IM gettting  5.2 as the biuld to but then up a few post luke said that's a bug so we wait i guess .

so i need to learn cross comping or use it on my PC as zip file and go that route and compile to my PI that way.

will it hurt adding --enable-gridseed in addtion   no  it won't . I don't because it is on by default im not saying don't, if you feel better doing it, then do it  Smiley . it may even help thu i have yet to see were it does . for sure add it if your having issue with any grindseed miner .Smiley.
2235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: September 10, 2015, 03:00:26 AM
While doing your own usage measurement is a great idea, there is still some mystery into how the actual bill from the Power Company is derived from that (e.g. fixed costs, taxes, fees, etc).

this is true, my power company wont even tell you how much they charge you if you ask them on the phone. the bill has NO price per KWH.. just a value you used, and how much you owe at the bottom.

in US?
this is messed up.
I have everything marked on my bill: cost of electricity, cost of transmission, final cost per kwh, taxes, fees, they even give me neat graphs week by week and a comparison with the last year.

same man i get the some thing . if he does live in the US i don't even know how that state is even able to do that and has no fed law suit against them. im  glad i can see just what my bitcoin miner are using or i can make a nice guess etc but i don't trust smart meter either because this  month i got my bill for five days there is no record but i got charged the usually amount which bros me because some place down the road that might come back to me some how, i just know it .

but my miner will get running I'll  keep watching the bill etc and pay it but have that in the back of my mind .

you live in the US  i thought that was against the law, at one time it was that way in Maryland till BGandE started sending out bills that made no sense . then they had to explain what was up then the bills went back down then we got smart meters and some got 1200 bills then the state had to step in again . some law let them do it and they didn't have to answer to anyone at one point till the state wrote in a law that forced them to give up those books. some privacy law let BE and E do what they wanted with smart meters now they have to ask in open hearing for any increases , ask the customers if you want smart meters but with us we had to take it even if we opted out they put them in any way and got away with it for years now there is another law that might be sighed in here BG and E is charging you for not having a smart meter and some are getting pissed off which might happen and the nice thing about that law if it stops that fee, is they have to ask everyone with smart meters if they want them removed or not and BG and E has to foot the bill and eat if it passes but knowing the way they work they will figure out another legal way of getting what prices they want .

2238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 02:36:57 PM
The question is, how many large industrial customers care about scrypt? Bitmain hasn't really cared about individuals or low-volume customers in a long time. If their farm customers don't want scrypt, Bitmain won't make scrypt no matter how many shallow-pocketed forum denizens band together in protest.

To be fair, I also don't care a whit about scrypt.
If I remember correctly doggie has stated that the L1 was actually made and I think it went to a large volume customer and that is why we never saw one in the hands of the public. I may be wrong on this but it was something to that effect.

he did i believe it now with thia interview and some of the shit the CEO said. i remember seeing some one selling batch two L1's for awhile then they were gone . what got me about that was L1 batch 2 .

I know you don't but a a lot of us do it actually a lot of fun which is why i do it but to make money off it no way not now at one time you could and a lot . you can now but nothing you could . please don't get me wrong im  glad there is some one like you out there still that cares enough to want to keep the shallow-pocketed forum denizens going ty man .  i take that as a  honor not a insult.  IM not kissing you ass or just saying it either .all ready said way more then i wanted to about this interview.

I guess my whole point is again he shouldn't say it like no one wants it, I'm bing nice, i wont say lieing.  just not the whole truth.

i see your point but i started out on litecoins and moved to bitcions and like doing both coins and made some stupid  buys a while back with Zeus miner because i thought they were going to sell upgrades and save some cash could have  bought a few A2 instead .

2240  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Interview with the CEO of bitmain on: September 09, 2015, 02:12:54 PM
I don't understand why bitmain is not make scrypt miner.  Huh

Because it turns out no one actually wants scypt miners.
That's the lie of the century, how about you ask your bosses for a real answer and not just one pulled out of behind your tail.

I was being nice Smiley.
