ok - thanks much for clearing that up for me - much appreciated
2302  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / newby question on: March 14, 2014, 04:03:54 PM
the NVIDIA Tesla C2070 is rated at  749.23 Mhs and my Antminer is rated at 180/Mh/s

this beg the question for me....

why not build a rig with the Tesla and mine over 3 times as fast - what am I missing?

Jeff

I guess with my 1,200 watt unit I should be ok then.

as long as I don't overload any of the 6 PCEI plugs
2304  Economy / Services / Re: who (in the U.S) wants to build this miner for me.... on: March 14, 2014, 02:46:46 PM
well - I currently own 1 Bitmain S1 and 20 gridseeds

so - how does that workout mathematically.

Huh

ps: the most interesting altcoin for me is Vertcoin but I can't use gridseeds for that - If I wanted to mine Vertcoin it looks like I'd need to go the video board route... correct? and how fast are the video boards at mining?

any other options to mine Vertcoin?

thanks for you help...

Jeff

miaviator set me straight with powering my gridseeds with one CORSAIR Professional Series Gold AX1200

and cables ordered from startech

I'll be able to power a whole bunch of these little buggers... Smiley

I looked at clevermining and the calculations shown don't really make much sense.

first of all - can I use my bitcoin mining hardware there?

I've got an S1 right now with 180Mh/s

using the calculations shown on the home page it says:

0.00561
BTC/day per MH/s

so - I have 180 Mh/s X  = 1.0098 btc

that can't be right.

ps: perhaps you might want to revise your signature: LOL

Cablez I have a lepa 1600watt supply and I noticed the cables that you design doesnt seem to be able to fit in my psu. Do I have to buy a different psu to use your cables or get some sort of adapter? Heres how the back of my psu looks.

Your psu should have PCI-E cables that plug into the PSU. Cablez's cable should be the female side the your PSU cable plugs into.

Thanks man this is starting to make sense now lol

LOL - it's kind of like osmosis - the more you look at the stuff  the more it makes sense, but the great help that everyone around here provides...

at least it's been that way for me.

I ordered some splitters from startech to split the 6 pin pcsi connector off my Corsair Gold AX1200 and I'll splice the butt connectors that are coming with my gridseeds.

seems like you are in the wrong directory

do a "find / -name cgminer'  to locate the directory you should be in.

well - my interest was in mining some other coins besides ltc and if I could get one that worked on my gridseeds I'd compare the code to the code used to mine from other currencies and make the changes necessary to mine something more profitable than ltc

I'm wondering if there is a cgminer for gridseed?
2311  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: March 13, 2014, 08:56:00 PM
by the way - I cranked mine up to 420/33 today and was seeing over 215gh/s consistently without error but the temp got up to 47 so I backed it down to 410/34 and it's running about 205 right now - no errors temps 45 and below - fan speed 2,450

no errors.

I also ordered a pi today and will hopefully do away with the unbuntu box that sucks up so much power.

yaahaw!

No problems here!
I'm using cpuminer - works great!

What platform? Rasp Pi, Linux, Windows?

If Linux,
I am trying to setup mining on Ubuntu 12.4.4. Which instructions should I follow?

I also have a Rasp Pi on order. I will try to get that working too.

I've setup unbuntu also - dame version as you.

follow these instructions:

at the top: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=454127.msg5667619#msg5667619

you will run into one error that's solved by doing this: sudo apt-get install libcurl4-nss-dev

I'm beginning to have my doubt if this is legit.

It's a shame to because a responsive moderator would warn people about scammers - I used to run two large online forums and myself and my moderators would warn people about scammers.

I'd be happy to start a new forum for bit interested in mining.

I have the software and the servers.

any interest - and I guarantee myself and the moderators would warn people about scammers and ban them if they're posting from tor IP's or from IP that don't match where they say they are.

PM me if you're interested. I could have the site up and running in a day.

can someone please answer this question for me...

so assume my psu has 4 PCEI connections and each connection with Cablez cable can only power 3 gridseeds and I have over 20 gridseeds - how do I power the other gridseeds once I've passed 12 - lots of power just going to waste.

if the price is for real - I'm in for another 40

in terms of having to be enclosed that is not really trueI have been dealing with hosting dot com for 10 years now and you can put whatever you want in your cabinet

however for co-lo'd equipment in a rack you are correct.

Bwa HaHa:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811165213

15.0" x 19.0" x 3.5" 2U rackmount 15" Depth.

I think there is room for a Pi as well if I cut the power cords a bit shorter.

I could fit at least 30 in a 3U and 20 in a 2U long case based on this catastrophe.

I would be concerned about air flow. how about an open front and  when rack mounting put one of the 3U fan kits in the front of the rack.

Zig  - I'd be interested to know if this guy is for real since no one here can vouch for him yet and this place is filled with scammers and I am looking for more gridseeds and his price is right.
