2361  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AvalonMiner 1066-50 not hashing on: June 21, 2021, 12:00:45 AM
If all 12 units stopped hashing at the same time then it's likely a pool/network-related issue, can you try a different pool? I don't have AvalonMiner but with Antminers you can ping the pool using the miner, I suppose Avalon would have even more network troubleshooting tools.

2363  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17+ Temp sensors problem on: June 19, 2021, 09:44:03 PM
-First symptom was "0 Asic found". I repaired a few cold solder joints. ( I measured CLK pins with an oscilloscope )
-After repair Test Fixture found 65 ASIC chips, but then showed the problem with thermal sensors.
-Then i found on 1 ASIC chip only 1,3Volts on pins(CO-RI-RST), another cold solder, problem with 1V8 power supply line.
-Then i found bad resistance among 1V8 power supply lines. I measured the first and the last ASIC chip in the line (5-Asics in line). Resistance was 2-3 Ohms but must be 0-Ohms. -> Another cold solder

Would you explain more about "cold solder" did you find some solder balls shorting some legs/pins? it would be great if you could share some more info (photos would be really nice).

What firmware is installed on this machine? can you test with custom firmware like Vnish or BO+ ? I prefer the former, you can get it on Asic.to or AwoesomeMiner website (both have some fees 2-3%), these custom firmware "ignore" some things that the stock does not, there is a good chance that the miner might work with custom firmware.

# 0: pattern test
# 1: only find asic

Great that you chimed in, what does the pattern test actually do aside from counting chips?

2367  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17 no hash on: June 17, 2021, 11:36:29 PM
At first when you turn on, the main panel it indicates "socket connect failed connection refused" but after a while it normalizes and it seems that it would start to work but the hash does not raise.

It's pretty normal for the miner to show socket connection failed when it's booting, don't worry about that.

Seems like the voltage is a bit too low, it's likely that you have a bad PSU, can you confirm if all 3 fans on the PSU are spinning? also can you test 1 hash board at a time?
2368  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: how do i set up a bitcoin miner? on: June 17, 2021, 03:41:59 PM
He's not buying a new miner, so I'm correct.

You are still wrong, most used miners come blank as well ( most sellers don't want to reveal their pool and worker details), so the chances of whatever you are claiming to happen are slim to nothing.
2369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 16, 2021, 11:44:06 PM
so if china outright bans mining that means that gear goes somewhere, assuming the gov doesnt just take it and mine for themselves.

According to one of the Chinese miners I know, the government wants to tax the electricity used for mining, as funny as it may sound the government told miners in some regions to shut down for a while until the new electricity law gets implemented, so far the rumors are 10% tax on power, which isn't large by any means.

But regardless, all of the mining gears will have to find another home, it's only a matter of time before everything gets plugged in, I personally think the whole China news is irrelevant and that the market price could not care less.

The price has been overextended for months, if you follow my posts in the mining post I have been telling people not to buy over-priced mining gears because that price was not sustainable and a huge drop will have to come, I don't take credit for it because I have no invited the wheel, anyone who understands the basics of the markets understands that, but some people think everything is just random.

Now my projection for the price is that we did indeed hit the bottom of the correction or at least came very very close to it, all those 5k and 15k calls are likely going to go with the wind, I, however, do not believe that will go straight up, this will probably be one of the longest bear traps in bitcoin's recent history, we could very possibility extend the cycle for another year, people who are expecting 100k this year will probably be wrong, I hope that I am wrong, but I can't think of any other scenario except a for a boring market that will take months to change, regardless of what China, Elon or Trump has to say about bitcoin.
2370  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: how do i set up a bitcoin miner? on: June 16, 2021, 10:59:16 PM
It will be, and it will also be configured to mine to the wallet of someone else.

The pool setup will not be blank, it will have someone else's mining information in it.

Wrong, since the lawsuit against Bitmain in 2018 all of their miners today (and most other miners) come blank and the miner won't start mining until you enter your pool and worker details.
2371  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Slush pool locked my account on: June 16, 2021, 08:13:15 PM
While I don't use Slushpool anymore, I did contact someone from their team whom I was in contact with regarding some issues with BO+, he responded pretty quickly and told me that someone will attend to you guys ( I sent them the topic URL), I don't use Slush nor their firmware anymore, but I do have faith in these folks, I think they are genuine and they will refund your funds, but if they don't - I will be the first person to tag their account and support the "victims" of this incident after having heard from both parties.

With that being said, let's just hope that things will work out smoothly.

2373  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need feedback on S17 Pro 53Th... on: June 15, 2021, 11:35:58 PM
The person offered me $8000 for five or $2000 for one.

Where did he say he was located? he is most likely trying to scam you, these prices are way too low, the lowest this gear went to was about 3k when btc fell to 31k before the difficulty adjustment ( which was the cheapest time to buy a mining gear for weeks), today, it's priced at about 3.3-3.5k, these are China prices which are in theory are the cheapest.

When someone offers you a 3k gear for 1.8k you should be extra careful, there are a few legit sellers in this forum such as grace, Scott, and kaboomrack, even if you don't buy from those guys at least check their prices against the other buyers if the price is way too cheap - you should probably avoid it, there are probably 10 scammers for every single legit mining gear seller, keep that in mind.
2374  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Slush pool locked my account on: June 15, 2021, 11:16:06 PM
Same thing happened to me. They closed my account without notice. I had a balance too, i mean a real balance not satoshis...I plan to go to court, i can't stand their behaviour...Class action?

Given Slushpool's reputation, I highly doubt they will "steal" people's funds this way, have you contacted them? what did they say? I believe Artemis3 is an ambassador for BO which is also Slushpool in one way or the other, perhaps he should be of some help.
2375  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: how do i set up a bitcoin miner? on: June 15, 2021, 10:23:17 PM
Even if it is, which I doubt, do you really want to run a pre-set miner? Where would you get your mining reward?

Just so we don't go with interpretation of what "set-up" means, and judging by the OP, it's pretty clear he means some installation of a certain software/firmware, which in that case, you are wrong because all miners today are indeed pre-set.

will it be pre setup to mine?

The asic miner in the link you posted is T9+ by bitmain, yes it comes ready to mine, all you have to do is fill these 3 fields

The password is usually just "x" for most pools, the URL is something that the mining pool you join will give you, and the worker name is something you set in your pool account, pretty straightforward and takes no more than 2-3 mins to get it up and running.

With that being said, 1.2k for antminer T9+ is way too much, this gear is now worth about $200 or less in China including a PSU, so the max you should pay for it should be below $300, it's not effienct and if your power rate is above 2-3 cents you won't be making any profit, and it runs pretty hot as well, but it's a good learning object if you just want to start with it, however, do not expect to become rich mining with that old gear.
2376  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17+ Temp sensors problem on: June 15, 2021, 08:21:54 PM
Thank you for info. But i think this issue is hard to repair. How to find bad ASIC chip without dismount all heat sinks ?

There are test points (CLK-CO-RI-BO-RST) which you can use to test the chip without having to remove the heatsinks, this is the repair manual for the S17+, the same website is also full of other tutorials, one thing to keep in mind is that if you are using the fixture tool you must NOT use an external PSU to test the hash boards.
2377  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: what is the easiest bitcoin miner to set up on windows pc? on: June 15, 2021, 12:42:55 PM
All bitcoin miners as of today come with their own software pre-installed with a web access and a simple GUI, you just need to enter your pool and worker details and start mining right away.

If you have any device that needs some sort of software then it certainly can't mine bitcoin in the first place.
2378  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17+ Temp sensors problem on: June 14, 2021, 10:12:32 PM
Hello,

I am trying repair my S17+ Hash Board. I have a problem with temperature sensors. I changed all 4 sensors from NTC218 to TMP451 and ASIC chip connected to temp sensors, but same error. Can you please help me with this? Here is log from antminer fixture tester.

I did conduct long research on this problem a year ago, more details can be found here, long story short, the temp sensor error is very rarely the result of a bad temp sensor, which makes perfect sense because what are the odds of 4 temp sensors falling at the same time? slim to nothing if you ask me.

Your problem is a bad chip (or a few of them), we do not "yet" know why some chip failure causes the miner to report a dead temp sensor but we are certain that is the case, if the fixture tool did not help with identifying the exact chip, you will need to manually measure the volage/resistance across all chips.

If the temp-sensor error shows on all three boards (you get a total of 12 temp sensor errors) then that is just a bad PSU.

2379  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Looking for a place that has cheap electricity to live and mine on: June 14, 2021, 08:31:00 PM
If it was this simple, nobody would mine bitcoin in the U.S, China, or any other region, everyone would move to a country where power is dirt cheap and we all will become millionaires, unfortunately, the world does not function this way.

Most places that have cheap electricity have other major issues which most people rather not go through, the majority of those countries are pretty corrupted, so just because the power is cheap it does not mean the mining operation itself is cheap, you will still need to bribe some cops, mafias or a militia to be able to mine safely, and even if you were okay with that route then your operation needs to be either so huge that you can afford to keep those folks happy or too small to stay under the radar, in other words, you need a lot more than just 60-70k.

On top of that, you will need someone to get you there, a partner who will ask for a huge cut without sharing any risk or investment with you, there is so much to be said about this, but in short, those cheap rates are not for everyone and the average joe should not even think about it.

What's more important than that is the fact that mining isn't a no-loss business that will secure your financial life at no risk, I have almost free power, and yet I have encountered some serious losses in my mining investments, there is a lot that can go wrong, the power bill is just one of so many other things you need to worry about, add to that the fact that by next halving or the following if bitcoin price fails to reach super high prices the profitability of mining will just keep going down.

It might be okay for some people to consider mining bitcoin (despite the fact that most folks lose money and are better off just buying the coin) but moving to a new country just to mine bitcoin is one of the worst ideas I have heard this year.
2380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: ANN | Supermine.io Chia Mining Pool | Decentralised Mining Pool | coming Soon || on: June 12, 2021, 09:29:11 PM
Decentralized

Care to explain how is your mining pool going to be decentralized? I don't think anyone has issues with centralized pools since 99% of pools are centralized anyway, I just don't like seeing the word "decentralized" used for marketing purposes like that unless your pool is something like p2pool then please refrain from using that term.
