241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving NVIDIA by buying bitcoin on: September 03, 2022, 09:36:30 PM
Can someone here summarize the story here?  So nvidia when covid happened made prices really high for their graphics cards?  Or was there no demand etc?
242  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Privacy Tips: Don't send round amount on: September 03, 2022, 09:35:31 PM
What exactly do you mean round amounts?  You mean don't send 0.0005 btc and send like 0.000523?
243  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Nano Ledger S? on: September 03, 2022, 07:51:05 PM
So apparently I do not see this available in ledger website anymore.  So this has been discontinued?  How long ago did they stop selling it on ledger website?

Does this also mean anyone that has a nano ledger s would eventually need to get a nano ledger s plus or x in the future?  I know lot of people from years back bought the nano ledger s and store their coins there.  But is there any concern now that because this product is discontinued, it won't work later on in the future such as there won't be any firmware updates for it anymore?

Do you recommend everyone with just a nano ledger s now buy another hardware wallet such as the nano s plus or the x and just input their seed phrase into the new hardware wallet and no longer use the nano ledger s anymore or there is absolutely no need for that now?
244  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger Live Update? on: September 03, 2022, 07:45:22 PM
At the moment, I'm still using the older version of ledger live 2.42.0.  Reason being a while back people said the next update or update after that had issues with the balance not being correct so I didn't do any updates etc.  I did however do transactions with it though.

Now each time that I am ready to do the ledger live update on the top right corner, it seem like every few day later, there is always a newer ledger live update.  For me, I prefer waiting a few days before doing the update.  But now it seem there is an update almost every week or so?

At the moment, it shows update ledger live to 2.46.2 and that is just recently right?  There is no issue clicking download update on the top right corner since I already have ledger live downloaded a while back right since I had verified it already?  Anyone having issues with the balance not being correct?  Does clearing the cache always solve this issue?  Read on reddit not for everyone?
245  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Prompt safe staking with good APY on: August 05, 2022, 06:11:44 AM
Has anyone here done this with waves?  If so, are you really earning that much?  Example you buy enough waves or btc and say have 10k worth to make the math simple.  If you sell the waves or btc for those staked coins on waves exchange... you are going to earn over 30%?  But you get paid how often?  Weekly?  So can't you just cashout your profit each week while keeping the initial 10k worth of that stablecoin there?
246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: August 04, 2022, 04:13:39 AM
so i traded with someone last time my bank funds for their btc and the first confirmation showed up in less than ten minutes.  Then the second confirmation came in about another ten minutes or so.

i then traded with someone else, the same my bank funds for their btc... it took more than an hour for the first confirmation.  Why is that the case?  Was it because of the different fee they paid?

However, when i checked mempool both times when they sent, the low and medium priority was one sat kb only?  The high priority was either one sat kb or 5 sat kb with the first trader, but the second trader i did with the other person was 5kb for high priority.  Anyone can explain?

Thus with the second trader it showed 0 confirmations for over an hour.  Would that be a big concern for most of you if that is your first time trading with that person?

in that situation, could that person have double spent since it showed unconfirmed for over an hour?
247  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coin Control Litecoin Ledger Live? on: August 03, 2022, 07:08:05 AM
can others here confirm you can coin control ltc on ledger live?

248  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: August 03, 2022, 07:01:53 AM
i mean to double spend... so how many ways are there besides the 5 percent attack?

So it cost around 5k usd to do it?  So basically nobody would try to double spend and thus try to scam someone for like 1k right because they lose money that way?  So they need to do it for at least 6k usd?  But what is the success rate for that?  So someone would have to do at least 5 figure usd amounts for it to be worth it?
249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: August 02, 2022, 03:53:35 PM
but does it cost money for someone to try to double spend?

such as if it does, how much... because that would mean its only worth it for that person if its a big amount?
250  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Coin Control Litecoin Ledger Live? on: August 02, 2022, 05:09:25 AM
would have to install electrum ltc and also verify it.

can you coin control ltci in ledger live?  What about those other scenarios i mentioned?
251  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer and Phone Security Questions on: August 01, 2022, 07:45:29 AM
By raw text you mean like what me and you are typing now right?  No link at all?

So say we are chatting on messenger or i sent you a pm here and type to you 3b9omwjekw509906jkfjslfs as the btc address that i want you to send btc to.

When you look at the address, it looks like raw text but how can you be sure before you take your mouse and then copy and paste it to your wallet and making sure that btc address isn't a hidden link?
252  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Coin Control Litecoin Ledger Live? on: August 01, 2022, 05:56:58 AM
Have a nano ledger s and i know i can install litecoin app into it to send/receive.  Reason why i don't want to do this is because i stored several apps already on my nano ledger s already so i don't want to use any more space on it even though i still have space left for litecoin. But the important thing is, i will only have a small amount of litecoin stored in the wallet... think like to 20-50 dollars worth only.  Will request somewhere between 20-50 dollars worth of LTC only from a site.  Then i would make a small LTC transfer to someone.

So because of that, what litecoin wallet would you recommend?  A while back, i had stored litecoin in Electrum LTC but that program isn't on my windows pc anymore so i need to reinstall it.  This would also mean needing to verify the software which i do not want to do.  Also considered using my waves exchange wallet since you could store litecoin there but then i see the fee to send LTC is 0.01 LTC as the fee and that can't be changed?  Remember the fees were much less on Electrum LTC.  Does anyone know what are the current fees to send LTC with nano ledger s or Electrum LTC now?

Any litecoin wallet you can recommend for this?  Have windows pc and an iphone.  Also i want to be able to control the sending fees because i heard litecoin fees are very cheap and fast and believe fees are only around
3 cents a transfer?  But using waves exchange wallet to send would cost a dollar?  is this accurate?

But i could just use nano ledger s with ledger live and coin control and that would work?

So you can use coin control on ledger live with litecoin?  So say i receive 50 dollars worth of ltc to nano ledger.  Make few 5 dollar payments and my ltc balance is now around 25 dollars.  The person who i been sending 5 dollars multiple times can always see that balance right since they see i use the same sending address?  Now when request ltc from another site but want 5000 dollars worth of it to store and hold, does ledger live generate me a new ltc receiving address similar to how it does with btc?  So then whenever i send that person 5 dollar ltc, always coin control from that same address?  But what if say later need to combine some ltc
because the original 50 dollar ltc balance is low and only have say 3 dollars on it... how i send the other 2 dollars without exposing the 5000 dollars worth of ltc address?

The other thing is this.  Let say i only make one payment to that person and thats all.  Then i get 5000 dollars worth of ltc to a different ltc address.  So have around 5 dollars worth of ltc on that payment address and 5000 on the other address.  How do i make payment in future to prevent my address from privacy issues?  Generate a new ltc address and send say 50 dollars there?  But they see that it came from a 5000 dollar ltc balance.  But would they know that is your ltc balance or if its an exchange unrelated to you?

wait so you can use coin control on ledger live with ltc?  So say i receive 50 dollars worth of ltc to nano ledger.  Make few 5 dollar payments and my ltc balance is now around 25 dollars.  The person who i been sending 5 dollars multiple times can always see that balance right since they see i use the same sending address?  Now when request ltc from another site but want 5000 dollars worth of it to store and hold, does ledger live generate me a new ltc receiving address similar to how it does with btc?
254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum LTC Verification on: August 01, 2022, 05:37:36 AM
do many people use it compared to electrum?
255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: August 01, 2022, 05:36:48 AM
How many cases has there been where just one confirmation was able to get reversed?  How much does it cost that person to do that?  Or it doesn't?
256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Here is why they say to store your seed "offline" on: August 01, 2022, 05:33:54 AM
what sites do not delete your account if you don't log in after a certain amount of time?  What pay sites allow you to keep an account active without logging in for a long period?

gmail and yahoo ... do they close your account if you doni't sign in at least once a year or something?  So what site can you use where you don't have to worry about an inactive account?
257  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer and Phone Security Questions on: August 01, 2022, 05:29:09 AM
So say someone gives you their btc address that they want you to send btc to.  They type it to you on messenger or email.  Now you would then use your mouse to copy and paste that btc address for you to send btc to.  Now is it possible that btc address they post could have malware or not?   i assume as long as you use mouse to copy and paste and as long as it doesn't display any link... then its safe?

i assume a person can't post the btc address like this.... 3b9omwjekw509906jkfjslfs and the moment you copy the btc address or paste it... you somehow get malware right?  Such that a person can't make something that look like a btc address... an actual link that you can click on to get malware?
258  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum [Guide] on: July 31, 2022, 02:49:19 AM
you have to reverify every single time electrum has update?
259  Other / Off-topic / Re: Computer and Phone Security Questions on: July 31, 2022, 02:48:39 AM
What about opening preview on laptop?
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Wallet Recommendation? on: July 31, 2022, 02:42:46 AM
can you use coin control on ledger live with litecoin?

example, you want to withdraw only 20-50 dollars from a gambling site and make small payments to someone monthly.  So even when they see the litecoin address you are sending from, they only see that small balance.

But you also want in the future to withdraw bigger amounts of litecoin and store it but make sure whenever you make your monthly payments to someone... they can't see the bigger stack litecoin address which you have for holding?

does ledger live generate a new ltc address each time you want to withdraw btc and it generate new address like btc or not?

or should i just use electrum ltc or trust wallet for this?
