2421  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: August 23, 2012, 09:30:52 AM
Dude there is a big difference between not investing and starting a fucking crusade.

QFT. This should be everyone's signature from now on to remind them of the time they lost $50,000USD to Matthew.

Damn I forgot to ask you this Matt - did you think I was one of the guys that "didn't have enough info to convict" because I went the 100% it's a scam line?

Information can be anything. I am looking for evidence. For example, this dumbfuck "mem" is in his gambling thread right now trying to convince me and the world that he has an article where it is mentioned that I am 17 years old (obviously ridiculous) and yet refuses to provide the evidence. This is no different than saying you "know" it's a ponzi. This intellectually lazy mentality is destroying our community. I am aware it walks like a duck, but I have reason to believe it's a chicken with big floppy feet.  Wink
2422  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: August 23, 2012, 09:27:47 AM
Do you have any proof that I am 17 years old?
Many articles quote your age - pick one. I guess you are about to run around and bet each of the journalists about your age and then call them cowardly liars when they refuse to bet with a child ?
I can't stop lolling. Can you show me any part of the internet outside of a vandalized wikipedia page where it is stated that I am 17? Also, when you figure out that I'm not 17, how much are you going to pay for defaming like an idiot? If you're not indeed scared of having been deathly wrong, why are you cowardly avoiding putting your money where your mouth is?

Prove your honesty (partialy at least) by providing id.

That's what I thought. There are absolutely no sources for your ridiculously inaccurate claim of my age, and you as the accuser cannot supply evidence you previously lied about existing.

2425  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Your opinion on MNW's motivation to bet 10,000 BTC (one post per forum member) on: August 23, 2012, 09:01:08 AM
If you do in fact have 10,000 Bitcoins in Casascius products, you personally account for 1/4 of all the active wealth inside them, as a fellow collector I find this extremely interesting.

If you were a collector, you should know about "Roll your own coins". I do not need to own 10,000 individual 1Ƀ coins or even 2,000 individual 5Ƀ coins. I can own a 0.3155111Ƀ and 9 separate 1,111.11111111Ƀ coins if I wanted to (TL;DR? I load my own coins.) Now, part of the reason I'm being purposely vague is for my privacy and protection. The other is because the conspiracy theories are fascinatingly entertaining for me.

Is a thread like this to bet on the other side? I've been wasting time trying to buy bitcoinmax accounts when I should just be betting!

A wise person would buy the accounts at a discount, bet against me, and profit regardless.
2427  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: August 23, 2012, 08:48:48 AM
1) I have not lied, period.

Do not bet with Matthew, he has no proof he can honor your bets and is only 17yo.

Even if Matthew does payout, it sets a horrible trend for people trusting unaccountable minors with large sums of money.

Do you have any proof that I am 17 years old? Since you have been offered to back your opinions with proof provided and have declined, is there any reason to believe that this is anything but a bad faith attempt to defame?

Very simply, if I am requesting you to stop spreading disinformation about my age and your response is that I am lying and that you are in the right, it only makes sense that you are able to back this up with evidence and it is a sure bet for you. Since this is clearly the case from your point of view, I extend to you a wager of any amount of your choosing to prove your side. Any honest person would either change their stance, or if absolutely sure, would take the wager as it is not a gamble at all but a sure thing.

Not sure if this is allowable here, but if you are selling and cannot find a buyer, feel free to hedge your losses by betting in my thread.

Wanna bet?

 Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I appreciate the humor Smiley

So you would prefer to be known as a liar who despite the opportunity to inquire into the truth of something and equally given the opportunity to back your statements cowardly avoids them?

Good to know. I guess I can't trust you for your side of our bet.
2430  Other / Meta / Re: Proposed removal of Matthew N Wright from forum staff. on: August 23, 2012, 08:35:01 AM
We're surrounded by trolls and people who hide behind the veil of anonymity.
IE pirate, the guy holding all the btc.
He's anonymous? Since when?

Ok now I am changing my opinion, I believe you are indeed a scammer.

Easy solution. Stop hiding and tell me what I would need to prove that I'm not a scammer, we'll find some other trusted member, we'll escrow the coins, and you'll wager that I am in fact scamming. Again, easy money for me.

Oh you are open to discussion ?

ok - lets see proof of the btc required to payout your current bettors entirely without delay.
Then follow up by placing the entire sum required to payout bettors in the hand of a "trusted" third party.

Those weren't the terms you agreed upon for the bet, were they? If you'd like to make a -new- bet on different terms, I'm listening.

This bet doesn't make very much sense.  If pirate does default, you're out whatever you had on the line.  If he doesn't default, that means 500k coins will have been disbursed before you can win the bet; by that time supply pressure in the market will mean the price of bitcoin will drop precipitously.  You may win 5k or 10k coins but they won't be worth anywhere near what they are now.

If you were smart you would sell the coins you have now, take the money, and reinvest when the price collapses.  You'd probably end up with more that way.

I'm uber-long bitcoin so current price volatility is a non-issue. Bitcoins are bitcoins baby!

By making a bet, I've given a way for true believers to actually I dont see any awesomeness, I see a 17yo that is running a scam or has delusions of the grandeur.

Those are the only two options huh? In that case it would seem that it's pretty easy to prove if I were running a scam, yet I don't have the slightest idea what kind of scam that would be or how it would work. Since you believe this way and you're adament about it regardless of the fact that it's not true, it seems like pretty easy money to me to maker a wager related to it. Stake your terms. Proving bitcoins in possession, having pirate post publicly if he knows me or not, etc. Name it. Time to collect the FUD tax.
2435  Other / Off-topic / Re: Community split? on: August 23, 2012, 08:16:39 AM
But you yourself have said that you don't trust pirate
Where? When?

that you would not recommend investing in BTCST because it is very high risk and has no transparency, implying there is a real chance that coins invested would be lost.
No, it doesn't imply anything. If you have ever invested before, you know that a company that does not open their books to investors can do any number of things that are bad for the investors including but not limited to embezzlement on small and large scales, late payments, insufficent return on investments, etc.

Just because you think a business is risky, doesn't mean you think it's a scam. What if he were selling drugs? I wouldn't want to invest in that even if I believed he could sell the drugs on the off chance that he couldn't or got arrested. This would be considered a high risk investment.

My lack of interest in investing in Pirate is because I don't believe his rate of return is possible to sustain. And I'm right, essentially. He's shutting down afterall isn't he?
2436  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Putting your money where Pirate's mouth is. on: August 23, 2012, 08:10:33 AM
… use the Vandroiy bet conditions, because they are clearly laid out and fine-tuned. If Vandroiy wins his BTC5,000, you pay me, if Vandroiy loses, I pay you. …

I accept your conditions. I'm betting 10,000BTC already in another thread however, although at the moment of writing this, 4995.89114457 BTC has been bet leaving me with 5004.10885543 BTC left to bet with. Name your bet please.

Let's leave it at BTC250 then. That's about my limit without escrow.

This is my offer. If you accept it, we have a deal.

Agreed. For my own accounting purposes I will add it to the same spreadsheet as I use for other betters of the betting thread, but I concede publicly that it is in fact a separate bet entirely and an exact mimc of the strict guidelines in Vandroiy and Pirate's bet. Good luck!

Can I recommend to OP to update the title to "People who don't like Matthew"?

No matthew I have no issue with you as a person, I just take a very large issue with the dangerous bets and attitude to free speech you have.

Oh I don't have a problem with free speech. I have a problem with defamation. We're surrounded by trolls and people who hide behind the veil of anonymity. Reputations are often completely worthless as no one really knows who the individual is and as such, there is no fair debate on some issues, just noise. By making a bet, I've given a way for true believers to actually make a profit off of their belief and make a louder message to the community that they were in fact, correct. You have a problem with this awesomeness?
2438  Other / Off-topic / Re: Community split? on: August 23, 2012, 08:06:01 AM
To summarize:

Believe pirate or take your money and bet to prove you dont or STFU
"Stop defaming and pretending you're experts just because you don't understand something. Stop harassing other bitcoiners because of what they invest in. Stop being anti-social. If you do, you'll have to pay a tax to Matthew."
FTFY

Additionally its very obvious a scare tactic designed to put you in control of any topic about pirate - it is fucking sickening.
Nice! Thanks for the idea!

I cut you some slack though, you are still just an ignorant kid with plenty of growing up to do,  the fact anyone would put money in your hands after the zhou tong proves there is a sucker born every second.
What happened with Zhou Tong and what does it have to do with me again?

how about a "Pirate " subforum till this shitstorm blows over, so many threads in so many forums its becoming a joke
mods could just dump all the pirate threads there for those that care Smiley

Pretty soon here there will only be one thread that anyone will post in.

The "Matthew wins 10,000BTC!" thread.

Matthew - you are doing horrific damage to this community.... thanks.

Drama much?

this from the 17 year old that said "Id shoot myself in the head to teach people a lesson".

Would you mind outline the 'horrific damage' I'm causing please?
