2501  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: submarine swap to get incoming liquiity - c-lightning on: January 10, 2021, 11:21:46 PM
You could go the round-about way and use Electrum.  If you were to open a channel in Electrum with incoming capacity, you can create an invoice for your node channel.  Electrum allows reverse submarine swaps, and it's pretty straight forward to use.  Of course you'll need to open a channel in Electrum with slightly more bitcoin to allow for the amount you need send from your node, then use it's swap feature to return the coins to on-chain.

The advantage is you're doing it all yourself without having to trust any other service.

I know about the security issues, but I figured it was a small amount.

Lol, at this rate bitcoin will be worth $1M by 2030, and that "small amount" will be worth thousands.

The opendime looks pretty cool, I've been tempted to buy a three-pack just to have around.  They are electronic devices, susceptible to damage when exposed to heat or moisture, so I wouldn't use one for long term storage.  But as a gift that's intended to be swept within a few years, I think they are pretty snazzy.

Oh my god, the announcers are acting like it's the end of the end for Baltimore: "Lamar threw and interception, the Titans are up 10-nothing, neither of these teams are built to come from behind... Bla bla bla!"  It's just the end of the first quarter for fuck's sake.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I may have picked wrong, lol.

2504  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin cards on: January 10, 2021, 03:13:27 PM
I totally agree with that and I understand the underlying concerns.

I certainly didn't mean any offence to you, I hope you don't take it that way.  Nor am I trying to cast suspicion towards any other legitimate vendor of pre-keyed cards or coins.

However, having it done yourself doesn't necessarily mean they are safer than private keys created by someone else.

I also agree with this, the key is only as secure as the machine on which it was generated.  However, even if I trust that a pre-keyed card is safe and secure, then fund it with my mother's coins for safe keeping, now she has to trust not only that you are trustworthy, but I am capable of making that judgement for her.  The chain of trust has now gotten deeper.

I may have no issues trusting my funds to a pre-keyed card from a trusted vendor but I can't, in good conscience force my judgement onto others.  When dealing with other people's money I feel much more comfortable with them making the security decisions themselves.  If they are incapable, or have yet to learn, I will put the onus on myself to generate a key that is as secure as possible.  Since I would be dealing with OPM, I no longer have to concern myself with convincing others to trust the vendor whom I trust, only that they trust me and hold only me accountable.
2505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restoring an old 'wallet.dat' file on: January 10, 2021, 02:28:42 AM
Are you running a full node, or are you just running QT pruned?  I think you need to be connected a full, unpruned node or download the whole blockchain yourself.  The error message is telling you that your node is pruned to a block more recent than the one to which the wallet was most recently synchronized.

I just don't see the Rams winning here given their QB situation. Sad to root against "my team" for money but what are you gonna do.

Bittersweet victory there?  Sorry for the loss of your funds, but congrats to the Rams and Goff for the win.

They are likely to be off to Green Bay next weekend.  If they can handle the Packers like they did the Seahawks, I think they can make it to the big dance.
2507  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: My bitcoin just disappeared on: January 10, 2021, 12:08:22 AM
Hello guys,

I have the same problem...

I just checked an old Bitcoins account and on 2019-11-20 I have a transfer to the same account: bc1qef4qzdg33h5djutas735w4x4e237cek9dpw8cj

I didn't have Electrum installed on my laptop and neither did my cell phone.

Today I walked in with my 12-word phrase that I had kept in a neat notebook.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may have happened?

Thank you,

Oscar Cry

This is strange to say the least.  Your bitcoin was moved over a year ago, and only just noticed?

Odds are you (and the OP) downloaded a malicious version of Electrum some time in 2019, and your account was compromised.  But to try and help you understand what happened, please answer the following questions:

Did you download Electrum in 2019?  Did you enter your seed into a mobile app?  Did you use Electrum to create the seed?
2508  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin cards on: January 09, 2021, 11:12:25 PM
I want to gift some friends and relatives some BTC, but I want to do it in a physical "be your own bank" way...

If you're going to stress the "be your own bank" philosophy it may not set the best example to start out with an address and private key that was created by someone else.  I like the do-it-yourself coins for giving bitcoin as a physical gift.

2509  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Multisig cold storage on: January 09, 2021, 10:24:56 PM
Hi,
I created a multisig wallet with seeds + extension on an offline machine and distributed them to the parties and destroyed the machine. Everybody only takes care of her own seed + extension.
Every party created a watch-only wallet to receive BTC and for spending we transfer transactions to a fresh offline machine, recover the wallet with seeds and sign the transaction and then again destroy the machine.

I have 2 questions:
1. Did we do everything right? Is there anything we may miss?
2. How long should a seed extension be to make brute force attack hard in case the seed itself is compromised?

Cheers,
Milad

I think you're being very cautious, but I question the caution exercised by the other parties.  You created all the seeds, including those for other people?  Each of you should have created your own seeds.

I don't know what the purpose is for the wallet, but by nature multi-sig adds security to your wallet.  Creating the seeds offline is best for preserving the integrity of the seed, but constantly building and destroying offline machines for signing sounds like a lot of work.  If you need to sign transactions regularly an encrypted desktop wallet on a secure machine should be sufficient, even on an on-line machine.  Of course there's no such thing as over-kill for security, so your situation may warrant the added security of using only an off-line machine.

This Super Wild Card Weekend is crazy I am getting worried that I will have to pull off a Homer Simpson if I want to watch the 3 games 2 days in a row.

Lol, I think the NFL is banking on it.  Their revenues have been steadily declining over the last few years, and I'm sure the empty stadiums of 2020 only made things worse.  The NFL is set to vote on a 17-game schedule this offseason, and it looks like a shoe-in.  They're trying hard to combat what appears to be a lack of interest among younger Americans.

Josh Allen's ability to throw on the run is frightening unless you're a Bills fan.

Seems like he's as natural at it as Patrick Mahomes.  I remember when mobile quarterbacks, rolling to the right (or left if he wore #8) were the norm in the NFL.  Then Belichick came on the seen with Drew Bledsoe and Tom Brady and everything changed.  Now all that's old is new again.

Philip Rivers doesn't seem to care though.

The answer to your question (if the OP was a question) was given in the first reply.  If you want no posts of yours on this forum you'll have to delete them manually.  If you can't delete some topics, edit them to remove all text and then move them to the Archival board.

All the posts you're making in this thread are only adding to your workload.  You're excuses and pleas for sympathy aren't believable, so you really should get cracking.  Chop chop.

Any thoughts on what the Niners are going to do at QB?  I mean, Jimmy G is well above average when he can stay on the field - but that's the problem, who knows if he can complete a full season - odds are a big no.  Are they going to go after Stafford, Ryan, or Wentz.  Or maybe they will find a trade partner in the draft to move up.  Should make the first part of the draft fairly interesting.

I like Garoppolo also, and I wish he could stay healthy.  If I'm not mistaken he started all 19 games last season, that was a good streak.  I think the plan all along was to restructure his contract after two years, and give it that time to really evaluate his performance.  In my opinion; I don't think that Shanahan is sold on G-Money.  If he won't restructure then I don't think they can afford to keep him.  They structured his deal in a way that gives them the option of releasing him and taking a very small hit to the salary cap.  They have a lot of UFAs this offseason, and many are worth keeping.  I think Kittle might be among them.   Shocked

Safford, Ryan, Wentz?  Cry

None of them sounds appealing, I'd try to resign Garoppolo over that bunch.  Wentz could possibly succeed in customized Shanahan system, and we know Ryan can, but ugh!  So bleak.  And I seriously doubt the Niners will draft a quarterback in the first round, but they should definitely be looking for the next franchise QB.  In 2018 Shanahan may have had hopes of reuniting with Kirk Cousins in 2021, but Kirk has signed an extension with the Vikings.  He's holding pat in Minnesota until 2023.
2514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: **REWARD** Help me restore my wallet!! on: January 06, 2021, 08:15:25 PM
*_wallet file.

Try searching for *wallet*.  The first time Electrum creates a wallet it'll name it default_wallet, and all subsequent wallets will be named wallet_1, wallet_2, so on and so forth.  Also try to recall if you had given it another name, such as weedfunds, or some such silliness.

I take it this was before bip32 seed phrase implantation?

I can found a folder named Electrum (Was run by windows), i would say I was using the portable version tho.

Couldn't get any file named default_wallet or something like that, not sure If I gave this wallet I name but I'd say I choose the default name

All I got is blockchain_headers, config, recent_servers files and then a "certs" with DNS names and a bitcoins.sk file

Can I do something with this..?

If Electrum was installed on your system the directory where the wallet files are stored will be "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets".  If you were using the standalone version it should have created the "wallets" directory files in the same directory where the executable file is located.

You wont find any file named "seeds."  The Bip32 (and subsequent Bip39) implementation allow us to create a wallet backup "seed phrase."  These mnemonic phrases consist of 12 to 24 common dictionary words.  The phrase would not have been stored on the computer, but rather you would have been instructed (during setup) to write down the phrase and store it someplace safe.  If you have a seed phrase then you can stop searching for the old wallet files.  The phrase can be used to restore your wallet and all your funds.

Excellent performance by the Saints today, congratulations to Southampton and Sportsbet.io.  The Saints are knocking on the door of that top 5, it would be awesome to see the sportsbet.io logo in the UCL or Euro League next year!

I got 12 which is about as good as 0 anyway. But I also got 13 of 17 in the singles, which leaves me with enough money to blow it on playoffs and Super Bowl, yay.

I blew 1mBTC on a LFC wager today, but I still have a small wad to blow invest in the playoffs.  BTW, @nutildah, I believe that's the first time I've ever been called a soyboy.  Okay, I can take it.  I'm not hurt.   Cry  I also fallow professional cycling.

If I have anything left over for the superbowl I'm going to go all-in.  It's a new truck or bust for me, boys.

for no apparent reason

It was quite apparent the Eagles could have won that game, but chose not to. The reason is...  debatable.

I also did the 16 games challenge, and wasn't far away from landing it, as a matter of fact, i got 14 out of 16.

Not bad at all.  I was 10/16, but that's good enough for the playoffs!   Tongue

Same with eddie13 who had the fight with mosprognoz who left the forum. When he saw that mosprognoz gave a neg to dragonvslinux he jumped and gave dragonvslinux  counter positive and added him to his trust list.
LOL stop talking about yourself in third person you fucknut, you're not fooling anyone. Find something else to do if being on this forum is not acceptable to you.

I was trying to make out what all this drivel was about until I got to that sentence.  Then everything started to make sense, lol.  A sockpuppet newbie picking up mosprognoz' vendettas isn't all that common, kind of hard to miss.
