blah blah blah im lost the airdrop blah blah
blah blah i feel envy blah blah
blah

the official forum already has more then 1000 members.
There is a decred's facebook group with around 350 investors just in my country, most of them participated in airdrop and few are bctalk members or official forum members.
No one of us will sell our coins from airdrop. We will buy more  Wink

You don't have to be a douchetaco about it. Yes, there is apparently 1,023 members of the official forum controlled by the dev team; it would probably be completely impossible for them to inflate the number of users by changing a number in a database, right? I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just pointing out that there is no transparency in the process.

Are there plans to release the identities of airdrop recipients? So people can see if a significant fraction of the airdrop went to newbie accounts or Twitter handles with a single tweet or friendless Facebookers, etc.

Absolutely not. This will never happen. It would be a complete violation of trust and an invasion of privacy.

Just curious after seeing this post from someone saying they were able to register (and receive confirmation) in the airdrop process using only an email address (not even a lightly used social media presence):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290358.msg13601490#msg13601490

Also, afaik there was not any verification that the email address I used to sign up has been checked that it is associated with this btctalk account, implying that you could claim any social media account as your own (that didn't have a public email), and then supply your own unrelated email address(es) to get an undeserved airdrop share.

I disagree that it would necessarily be a violation of privacy, since people are nominally registering with public social media accounts.

Anyway, I was just asking because I've probably seen at most 500 (and that's probably waaay overestimating) people commenting on this thread, irc, reddit, or twitter, so if it comes out that the number of airdrop participants is in the thousands, either we have to believe that the vast majority of airdrop participants are silent but honest participants, that someone or some people are gaming the system by claiming many more than a single share, or that the developers are inflating the number of users who signed up to keep the extra shares for themselves. The only way I could see that the developers can not just have to say, "trust us", is if the airdrop's social media accounts are publicly released, but apparently that isn't an option...

2505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Human Mining - Decentralized MMO and Crypto Game on: January 22, 2016, 02:49:28 PM
There is no rush or deadline but still, sooner we get HUC on Cryptopia the better. Just send to 1CimAZvvuw1VdjwAiKcoq3Dn97Z2dQGJvT and as soon as 0.08 BTC is there I'll buy 500,000 DOT and go through the rest of procedure required for coin listing. Balance for address is 0.008 BTC at the moment, check it at https://blockchain.info/address/1CimAZvvuw1VdjwAiKcoq3Dn97Z2dQGJvT

Balance is still at 0.008 BTC only, my contribution.

Is it realy possible this community has dropped so low, poor and stupid that deals like one Cryptopia offered will be ignored? What, all of you combined don't have less than 40 USD required to immidiately add HUC to legit exchange (registered business at New Zealand), a deal which normaly costs 400 USD at that exchange and usualy more at other exchanges, or you think deal is not worth the money? How fucking stupid can you go? Poloniex can go down the same way all major cryptocoin exchanges went, anytime, and then you will do what? No exchange, no coins (since I can bet you are dumb enough to keep all your coins at Poloniex), way to go?

You can debate whatever technical matters you want but you are totaly failing at fundamentals. And for now I am still around trying to help there but it is highly likely I'll stop losing my time here.

Sorry but I don't like Cryptopia one bit, and wouldn't give them a single doge. For one thing, they claim some moral superiority about not listing premined coins:

Quote
In order for a cryptocurrency to be hosted on Cryptopia it needs to satisfy the following requirements:
Open Source & listed on GitHub
No pre-mine, or justified pre-mine prior to launch.
No ICO or IPO prior to launch.
Official Website.
An established community

However, they take over some instamined shitcoin (Dotcoin previously Kimdotcoin), and force users to buy a million or half-million of it to have accelerated pathway onto their exchange.

For another thing, they seem very amateur. They've been around for a while now, and have yet to add a single non-bitcoin clone (BTS, ETH, XMR, etc.), because of "non-standard RPC calls". Some of these coins do major volume, and they'd prefer not to have even a little slice of it because they can't be bothered to adjust their RPC calls after a year? Riiiiight.

So , are all those bin file requests from Windows Users ? (I'm on OSX — didn't have that issue )

...

I'm guessing the seed node(s) that is (are) hard coded into the client is (are) down. I don't see exactly where that is defined in the source code after a few minutes of looking tho...

They're in src/cryptonote_config.h

Found it, thanks:

Code:
const std::initializer_list<const char*> SEED_NODES = {
  "seed.digitalnote.org:42080",
  "seed.ducknote.org:42080"
};

Ping works on ducknote (64.34.219.46) one but no response on digitalnote (5.9.13.37).

Guys,

Anyone know when the gui wallet is coming?  I want to transfer my xmr's from polo...  Yes, I can use the bitmonerod, but I'd rather use a nooby client  Smiley

Ty,
Boestin

there are primarily 2 wallets available.
https://monerobase.com/Wallet

lightwallet bt jwinterm is probably the most developed. MxNero is the newest on the scene.

If you want to use lightwallet, I'd recommend waiting a week or two as I plan to release a new version that works with latest simplewallet in that timeframe.

Edit: 7950 hashrate gone from ~650 to 905 with little CPU use, so my CPU is rocking it's full potential now too. Good work Wolf

Might want to play with settings in conf file a bit, I think I'm getting over 900 with 270 and almost 1100 h/s with 7950 using raw intensities of 768 and 1024, respectively. Can't swear to it because I'm not at home atm, but I'll check later...

edit: My mistake: more like 1000 on 7950, maybe up to 1025 h/s with rawintensity of 1024, and apparently 270 crashed at some point in the day. Trying it now with rawintensity set at 712 and getting ~880 h/s with 270.

editedit: Even at 712 the 270 crashed after a couple minutes with -61 error failed to enqueue or something. Seems to be working with a rawintensity of only 512, but only getting 610 h/s. Gonna mess with it some more and will add an editeditedit at some point in the future.

editeditedit: Even 640 is too high, gives this error:
Code:
[17:13:13] Error -63 when calling clEnqueueNDRangeKernel for kernel 6.

editediteditedit: Even 512 crashed after a short time with same error...

lol it hasnt been used in a few hundred years.. i think VERGE is the winner =]

besides, with that meaning, it only adds to the power of the name!  Cheesy

I don't like VERGE for a few reasons, but personal opinions aside, how is VERGE the winner with 40% of the vote? In some of the previous rounds I think other names had over 70% support.

Some reasons not to like besides less than 50% support from people who voted:
Hard to get search traction or short handles for promotion with things like: http://www.theverge.com/ , https://twitter.com/verge?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor , https://www.facebook.com/verge

Seems mostly unrelated to crypto or currency, and sounds similar to other scamish monosyllabic coins such as SPREAD, SWING, DASH, etc.

No clear plural.

LOL you think xmr can hit the same price as Dash or what?

Well, eventually it will- when dash starts it's long way down....

With what? One update "bug fixing" per year from Lousy Monero developers or is it with spamming Dash ANN thread with hate messages from Monero supporters including you're developer Smooth?

Edit : Monero needs a new development team and a new marketing vision.
Oh my days!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Maybe when Greg Maxwell and Wladimir van der Laan and Matt Corallo (and possibly others) quit working on Bitcoin because the block size gets increased they can come work on Monero full time Cheesy

is someone spaming the blockchain?

it seems to have started ~7h from now, somewhere around block 917600

I guess if you're gonna do it, now's the time to do it, since after hardfork it will be a bit more costly with minimum mixin enforced.

New build of Wolf miner on Win10 using a 270 and 7950 with stock clocks (1080/1400 and 925/1250, respectively) and driver version 15.30:
Code:
[12:36:06] Share accepted: 9/9 (100.00%)
[12:36:06] Total Hashrate: 759.68H/s
[12:36:07] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Tahiti: 411.24H/s
[12:36:08] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Pitcairn: 347.20H/s
[12:36:09] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Tahiti: 406.03H/s
[12:36:12] Thread 1, GPU ID 1, GPU Type: Tahiti: 411.58H/s
[12:36:12] Thread 0, GPU ID 0, GPU Type: Pitcairn: 348.14H/s

Total hashrate with Claymore version:
Code:
Speed: 837 h/s, TotalHashes: 133K, DevHashes: 2K Mining time: 00:02

So, ~10% lower hashrate with Wolf's new version.
2519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which currency should I use to stay anonymous? on: January 16, 2016, 07:34:00 PM
Zerocoin implementation that is supposed to launch early this year:
http://moneta.cash/technology.html
https://github.com/MonetaOfficial/moneta

I think it is basically a rebranded version of Zerovert, which was a closed-source implementation released last year. One of the creators is one of Matthew Green's former students.

That is Zerocoin, not Zerocash. Zerocoin is a mixer only for sending coins to your self and delinking, thus it is subject to all metadata correlation breakage the same as for Monero (Cryptonote coins and ShadowCash and everything else!).

Only Zerocash hides everything and thus is immune to metadata correlation. Zerocash mints zerocoins (which are not the same as the coins in Zerocoin). Zerocoin was created by some of the same people who created Zerocash, but they are totally different technologies. Zerocash is much more powerful anonymity because all the coins and all the actions (e.g. transfer payment to another) are totally hidden in one big blob.

With that being said, it's still unproven technology, and I think there are some issues with launching the currency in a trustless manner, so for now Monero is probably most bestest.

It is not even clear if Zerocash will work in a real world implementation for scalability and DDoS reasons (and maybe other issues).

But none of that absolves the fact that Monero is fundamentally (mostly) useless for the reasons I stated upthread.

Oic.

Quote
Zerocash improves on an earlier protocol, Zerocoin, developed by some of the same authors, both in functionality (Zerocoin only hides a payment's origin, but not its destination or amount) and in efficiency (Zerocash transactions are less than 1KB and take less than 6ms to verify).
