I've seen a video on youtube of somebody using copper pads, i wonder how good that is x what you have done, your memory temperatures has had an incredible upgrade.

https://www.reddit.com/r/gpumining/comments/q5z6xh/thermal_pad_mod_for_rtx_3080_rtx_3090_thermal/

it was the massive suprim x cooler/heat sink, the thermal pads job is to simply pass the heat to the heat sink.

i used copper shim in a laptop a long time ago, i think the only major advantage of copper, like what happened in my laptop is that it functions as a heatsink too not just a heat transfer (to heatsink) material.

aside from conductivity copper needs to be used with pads because minor dents and its hard nature can do damage if not in a perfect fit example: if 3mm is required, use 2mm copper and 0.5mm on both sides.

Igor'sLab has done some youtube video's abt. thermal pads. The video's are in german but he has a website in english
 https://www.igorslab.de/en/thermal-pad-tests-on-the-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-four-reference-pads-and-brachial-temperature-rise-of-the-hot-gddr6x-to-50/

around 11 W/(m*K) is the sweet spot for gddr6x specially if you are a miner, if you are on gddr6 then 7 W/(m*K).
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / thermal pads for gddr6x and a bit of patience on: October 14, 2021, 07:08:02 AM
I just changed the thermal pads of my msi 3080ti suprim x. (applicable to any cards specially the ones with gddr6x)

here is something people should do before panicking, disassembling and reassembling their cards again.

after you install the high quality thermal pads, there can be a little bit of size difference (thickness) of the newly installed and the previous one. (of course you should use the right thickness but still there can be a little bit of difference.)

the problem is if the new thermal pads are a bit thicker the gpu core might not have good contact to heat sink. if temps does not go directly to 100c, more like around 80C, just let it mine for a day, the thermal pads just needs a bit more time to squish to the right size and then the next day the core is now at around 65-78c.

vram was around 90-104c, now it is 68-78c.

items used.

It's probably best to let the electrician do the design as well. Just give them requirements and they can figure out the best
way to do it.

Also check your local laws. Some jurisdictions require electricians to do all the work for anything that will be connected to the grid,
others just need an inspection before connecting.

Yeah, call an expert for the big things and then make sure to learn simple things, you will need the expertise if something goes wrong, calling an electrician every problem that happens will cost a lot of money.

2013:

miner: i need this setup
electrician: (fucking idiot nerds, well...as long as i get paid) yes sir!

2021:

miner: i need this setup
electrician: you must be making a bank out of this sir!

Don't do a shit yourself, this is enough to get someone killed, remember the guy that burnt himself trying to do wiring himself? That's a big lesson mate it's safer to hire a qualified electrician to do the wiring for you.

I strongly agree that this is enough power that is best when you hire a professional to do it.Such big mining farm financially speaking can allow the hiring of a professional to do the installations for you, remember life is worth much more than any mining rig or any amount of money,is priceless.
You are right, any small mistake can lead to very bad injury or death I don't understand why people do this on their own when they aren't professionals, building miners is different from playing with high wattage electricity, it's a very wrong idea

(i'm gonna scare this scared y cats  Grin )

yeah the guy that got arc'd.. if you really think about it, it was the panel box and all those breakers that put a man in front of that box to do some "wiring" probably to add more load.
     - (not safe) because some people subconsciously will not shut down the breakers with load (because computers are mining = money$$), amps and voltage formed the arc.

how about we remove the panel box and those breakers? and only use 1 small box for 1 main breaker 125A

AWG 2 is rated at 115A

5 x thhn AWG 12 spliced to AWG 2 inside a metal box, it is rubber taped and electrical taped over.

 - the line's are already maxed out, so, you'll no longer be "wiring" for additional load (safer)

 - if you got an outlet burned, you are have no choice but to switch off the main breaker

16A x 5, is 80A = ~ 17,600watts

so.. who will do the job of the breakers?

- 15A outlet x 2 per outlet box (30A max), you'll burn the outlet even before you burn those THHN AWG 12.

- common heavy duty 2500w extension cords have an overload trip, continuous load will ruin it at 2000W that's why you have to use it at 1600-1800w only.

now..2500w / 190v = 13.15A will not overload the 15A outlets because, extension cords will trip or burn first before those 15A outlet where it is plugged.

1600-1800w is (two rigs or one rig with two PSU) with 3080s or 3080ti's or 3090's.

Is't that a proper way to make money, pay up for the booster or die.

Why do you care so much if some idiot is high risk and doesn't get vaccinated?

i dont care if you.. or badecker, tvbcof, jetcash and tash themselves dont want a vaccine

its the mis-info they are promoting to OTHERS thats the issue
its that that the 4 main idiots are trying too hard to get a whole population to avoid medical care.

they are promoting scammy herbal alternatives without understanding what the alternatives do
they are ignoring facts about how mRNA work. ignoring facts and real statistics to fake some conspiracy fear that everyone should avoid hospitals and just die at home "coz natural"

https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/covid19-industry/drugs-vaccines-treatments/vaccines/type-mrna.html#a2

Quote
mRNA vaccines contain the instructions for making the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This protein is found on the surface of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Quote
mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine. They don't use live virus to trigger an immune response. Instead, they teach your cells how to make a protein that will trigger an immune response.

Quote
The mRNA molecule is essentially a recipe, telling the cells of the body how to make the spike protein.

i'll use the mainstream argument against the mainstream about mRNA vaxx.

so it is a vaccine (covid or not) that tells your immune system cells to make spike protein to kill viruses. logically your immune system is deprived from assessing the situation and protecting itself, therefore your immune system will have no practice.

without the immune system getting practice, your immune system will essentially be weaker. what is "weak immune system" reliant on? big pharma vaccine(spike protein generating injection)..you'll be dependent on them (big pharma).

without your immune system getting practice, viruses will become more deadly to you....therefore you'll always run for booster jabs from big pharma, you-vaxxed people will become like a chicken farm, antibiotic-vaccine ridden miserable pieces of shit.

or the vaxxed weak immune system can easily be genocided or naturally wiped out of existence by nature LOL

now..herbs help you breath(clears air pathway), heats your body/lungs, kills bad bacteria so they don't take over and helps maintain balance of good-bad bacteria...essentially you just need to keep breathing.trust your body's mechanism of breathing it is been here since the human body formed, tried and tested. using this as first aid will save a lot of people from going to hospitals. if it doesn't work because of very weak body some might need ventilators but people who use ventilators doesn't have good survival numbers. therefore if the body is very weak covid or not you are going to the other side.

nailed it.

to all dimwit idiots around here, I'll teach you how to do well in life even if you are stuck in being a dimwit idiot. you just set your trust in government, big food and big pharma to 0 - zero aaaand you are good to go  Wink
267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to avoid cheap farm build on: October 12, 2021, 01:42:50 AM
you need to have your own service transformer - talk to your power company, 75kva transformer (single phase) closer to a 200A rating compared to 45-50kva (very close to 100A)

an AWG 1/0 (aluminum) service drop wire.

an AWG 2 (copper) thhn main line.

a 100A mains breaker or probably a 125A (if 100A is getting slowly cooked).

20A breaker (use 25A or 30A if breaker is being slowly cooked) per outlet THHN AWG 12

outlet standard 15A (use two outlet per line-same outlet box)

two 1500w (off the wall rating) rig is around 8A if voltage drop to 190V. 8A per outlet is 16A, yeah 20A breaker is gonna get cooked, use 25-30A breaker.

over the shelf heavy duty extension cords (pretty common) that is rated 2500W will be loaded with 1500w up to 1800w(of the wall rating).

1200w-1500w power supply at 50% is most efficient that's 600w-750w off the wall, so a two PSU rig or two rigs will do the 1500w - 1800w per outlet.

the rest are GPU topic and cooling topic.

What is the best wiring for a 16000 watt mining farm? Anyone have idea about this? What is the best solution/tools to build such electricity build? I'm trying to avoid burns and fire 🔥🔥 kind

Well 16 kwatts means you need 20kwatts since you must derate at 80 %

basically  you would want  30 amp 220/240 volt circuits.

four of them would be enough .

I'll go with 5 30A breakers  Wink

4x 16A x 220v  = 14,080 watts
5x 16A x 220v  =  17,600 watts

17,600W / 190v = 92.6A
130A-135A main and service wire rating at 80% is 104A

you got fancy with "analogy" but the irony is you can't even "analyze" my point/topic, therefore you can't discuss.

the fact is.. you are just being evasive.

If the use of analogy is "fancy", then we've reached a new nadir. Reasoned human debate may no longer be possible. Shall we just throw faeces at one another?

I will spell it out. A thing can be effective without being 100% effective. No-one ever said that vaccines were 100% protective against infection. But they are, as the data indicate perfectly clearly, extremely protective against infection, particularly symptomatic infection. If you have been vaccinated, you are less likely to catch Covid. If you have been vaccinated and do catch Covid, then you are less likely to cough it out over someone else. Vaccination reduces the spread. This is not complicated.

Global herd immunity is unlikely. Effective herd immunity within a population may be achievable, if everyone is vaccinated (or has caught the virus). People who have not had the virus, who refuse the vaccine when offered, are actively working against achieving herd immunity.

got ya!

now you know why you are evasive  Cheesy

covid survival rate is above 99.[9 or 8]xxx  ...showing the efficacy of natural immune system

now about herd immunity.."unlikely"? "maybe"? no, science, math and experience know they can't eradicate the flu, covid is another form of flu therefore what is the fuss all about? now back to this.. A thing can be effective without being 100% effective

you lost.
269  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to maintain your good health? on: October 08, 2021, 03:26:51 AM
Maintaining good health by taking care of the body and eating the right way is only part of the picture. Healthy living is the practice of maintaining good physical, mental and spiritual health. These three aspects are like the three legs of the overall health to keep you strong and balanced. We should understand and learn ways on  how to nurture these aspects to achieve a healthiest, happiest life.
Yeah, when you talk about spiritual health,I use to wonder how that works, because we are humans and we don't seem to be in spirit to know whether we are healthy spiritually or not.Or is it by not sinning that we can say we are healthy spiritually? It confuses me atimes because I don't seem to understand what we mean being healthy spiritually.
I know to be healthy is to eat balanced diet, having regular exercise, and and keeping your mind free from worries and anxieties.but that of spiritual,I dont know.

spirituality is more like mental.

here is an example.."guilt" feeling guilty feels bad, feeling bad is not good and that "not good" is not good for you holistically.
270  Other / Off-topic / Re: How to maintain your good health? on: October 08, 2021, 02:25:15 AM
I can tell you that I used to catch flu, cold and other infections when I lived in a warm city apartment. Then times changed and I moved to the countryside where I had to go outside to get firewood every day, even when it was -20*C. I'd wake up in the morning, chop wood, go back inside and make breakfast. We'd often make tea or coffee and walk around the house in the falling snow drinking it. It made me so "tough" that when it was -5, I'd go out to get wood in a hoodie. I no longer needed a warm jacket and I didn't catch a single cold on that year.
We also lowered the temperature in the house and begun to sleep in about 18*C, never going above 20. It's really good for your throat and lungs.

I mine crypto, i get exposed to heat(short periods only) not favorable to human living conditions, here is the thing..if you are healthy you can enjoy the heat and enjoy the cold.

I've been to cold climate and enjoyed it and I've been in hot climate and enjoyed it, also in hotter climate(mining room) not so enjoying but my body can handle it.

notice people in hot climate that get inside a cool air conditioned room/car and they feel weakened and they cough, that's a sign something needs to be optimized (health), same thing with people that get weakened by heat collapses in mining room temps..by the looks of it you moving to the countryside made you healthy.

I do all of this but I get when people can't because they are too tired from work. I  always feel better after exercise no matter how tired I was before. Also drinking water is not that hard you just need to have a habit.

Self-discipline is the worst enemy of yourself. Those are easy to follow but sometimes the laziness will overpower you. But if you already started and keep your motivation alive, it will become your habit. Just like when someone is aiming to lose weight. The solution is easy but it is the discipline that is hard to sustain.

discipline is simply the start, it will lead you astray if you don't have the knowledge..what you need is science if you are addicted to sugar and carbs but you don't know the solution, you will eventually cave in or live in ebbs and flows that will get you nowhere.

There seems to be a body of opinion that doesn't believe that breakfast is healthy. The justification seems to be the way the body handles stored fats, and brief periods of starvation can help the body to break these down, and covert them. Obviously you are not eating whilst you are asleep, and by avoiding eating until 11am or later, you force the body to process these stored fats

I try to do this, but I seem to weaken frequently when I am sitting in a cafe at 8am, and everybody else is tucking into breakfast. Smiley

by doing periodic fasting/starvation. it actually trains your body to try to store previous nutriants/sugars into fat. and then burn the fat overnight/morning. this is natures natural way. but the problem is if you are eating after 6pm the night before (eating then sleeping) that food is not being utilised. and if its sugary it causes spikes in your blood sugar when your body should be settling down. then if your waking up early and needing sugary coffee just to try shaking off the sluggishness. then that sugar is then not letting your body activate the fat burning process.
even the fake sugars(sweeteners) cause your body to taste the sweet. and cause your body to produce insultin ready for the sugar intake. but then not having a sugar intake because its sweetener instead. your body has an adverse reaction to that too..

the best advice is to not eat in the evening but eat in the morning. eating fat in the morning instead of sugary/sweetened drinks actually lets your body know its ok to burn fat because its not getting a sugar fix in the morning and if it needs more fat later then it knows it has some. so it doesnt try to hold onto the fat.

so no food in evening. but a fatty (fry up) breakfast and no sweet stuff
(hint: majority of obese people skip breakfast anyway and have sugary drinks and eat after 6pm.. so do the opposite)

I rarely do breakfast because...I am not hungry, only eat when you are hungry. sometimes when i get busy in a day's work I blast off for the whole day without eating and have dinner by 6pm. I also eat anytime of the day if I get hungry, but there is a difference between real hunger and fake hunger (created by high carbs diet), there are also some time where i totally forgot/ignore to eat for a day because i am not hungry (the previous day was a feast of healthy fatty meats.)

people over complicate/over think things, just eat healthy and your body adapts and tells you what you need.. it is a process and it takes time.

If people didn't obey government in every restriction in spring/summer 2020, we can have no restriciotns today.

The reason that we still have restrictions is that the virus is still circulating, with a high R-value. And the main reason for this is that we haven't quite achieved herd immunity, because not enough people have taken the vaccine. It is anti-vaxxers who are causing the restrictions, which is strange as they are the ones responsible.

Look at the data.

it is official that even if you are vaccinated you can still get covid so getting vaxxed will not achieve herd immunity. idiot.
274  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The keys to unlock the golden gate of herd immunity towards Sars-CoV-2 on: October 07, 2021, 08:09:55 AM
Vaccines rely on natural immunity to work, and they should only be used for protection against a disease in a country where the disease is not endemic, and if the vaccinated are visiting a country where a disease is endemic. Vaccinating people against a  virus which is endemic in a country just creates varaints to avoid the vaccine.

Age is only a factor when it is considered with other factors that affect the immune system. I don't know a great deal about the conditions in India, but malnutrition and mineral deficiency do more damage to the immune system than the vagaries of age. Many things can damage your immune system - coca-cola, McDonalds burgers, seed oil spreads, refined sugars, cream cakes, pharmaceuticals, recreational drugs, smoking, vaping, sleep deprivation, stress, vitamin "D" deficiency, mineral deficiency, high fructose corn syrup, etc. etc.

It is also apparent that vaccination drops your immunity by 20% or more.

this is what the sheeple masses doesn't get..the "bullshit"

TPTB, is feeding people with this crap and then suddenly they want to make you "healthy" with vaccines?

2x 8 pin mutex can deliver 300 WATT, this cable have to be special, or it will melt.

seems to cost around $4000

Mutex? Spending too much time buried in code?

I wouldn't use a Molex cable for more than 1x8 pin. They only have 6 wires to the PSU.
I'ts better to split an 8 pin cable to 2x8.

In the case of these CMPs they seem to be under connected with only 1x8pin while the bigger
RTX draw over 300W and often have 3x8 pin.

if you think about it, there are 2x8pin cable that has only 1x8pin connected to the power supply, it seems doable.

it is not molex in the pic, but 2x8pin pcie merged to 1x8pin and the wires in 1x8pin are really thicker than those in the 2x8pin.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stacking vs mining options? on: October 05, 2021, 01:52:56 PM
When you start staking or mining, that means you will hold the coin for some periods and if somehow, the price increase in the next month, you should not worry and still have to commit with your staking or mining because your reason to do those things is for a long time.

Besides that, if you stake in Binance, there will be a time frame that you should follow and you can not sell your coin if the time frame is not reached. Staking means you want to increase your coin amount and not think much about the price because your target to sell will be in the future and not in a short time. If you want to make a profit, you may not need to stake or mine instead of trading that coin and increasing the amount from trading.

Where did you learn that idiocy?

It is all about earning as much money in the shortest possible time.

For example, the oldest and first..bitcoin, zoom out, it is the biggest money earned in its whole life span and market cycles compared to other assets outside crypto. That parabolic gains experience is what fuels altcoin speculation besides tech.
Do you already try staking Binance? If yes, you should know that when you stake, your coin will be locked in their wallet without you can do anything except receiving the reward daily.

If that is about earning as much money in the shortest possible time, can you tell me where we can find that way? From trading? If the market is not moving good or has a bull run, you will not make as much money as you want shortly, unless you are a trader who has a lot of money.

I know bitcoin can give you the biggest profit, but not in the shortest time because bitcoin price will always have volatility which no one will know where the price will move in the next hour. Everything will depend on the market.

so it is still about getting money at the shortest time possible, so i am right..what i mean is "the whole crypto space." crypto turned a lot of folks into spoiled brats  Grin

the shortest possible time is getting a position right before the pump or dump (short leverage)...the shorter the time the higher the risk.

mining is also a short period of time, i can dump some but i feel a bit lazy today, maybe in a week or a month from now (it is still a short period of time BTW LOL)

The vast majority of people 99.9% like to hear what I say, the 0.1% hate what I say because is bad for their shady evil schemes, bullrun is the only time they can scam people without much of a consequence. It has been proven that scammers only earn money on bullruns, check website pages selling asics, gpus and third party coins, all scams, so yes they hate when I say the truth, it hurts them, funny, when it was the bear market and I used to say the bull market is coming, scammers loved me hehe, so people hating on me are usually scammers, do not worry I'm used to them, I have been trading crypto since 2010.
You have a small mind my friend, have you ever think that those who are against your point are those who just built new rigs? Cos this is what comes to my mind, maybe they just buy GPUs and hoping that bull run last for long term so they get their money back? Why calling them scammers?

Metroid is right, he just left out the part that there are others that make money too, the ROI heads, moonbois, investards, gamblers, etc etc.. LOL

staking and mining are both okay if you are one the earliest.

if you are late then mining beats staking if you can scale. if that staking thing turns to shit it is done, while in mining you can shift to another thing.
Yes agree early stage very important. I saw people who got from coinlist at he beggining for couple of cents coin and they kept farming those coins now they got way expensive.

being early is the name of the game from day 1, that is why premine and instamine was invented..to be the earliest of the earliest hehe  Grin

This is ostensibly untrue.  Granted the way to get 1000x is to be in premine, VC or seed round.  But you can also get good capital appreciation and/or yield from even being moderately early in buying from an exchange.  I was nowhere near early rounds and have ALWAYS felt I was too late but did pretty well with Link, BNB/Cake, Matic and Avax.  You need to be able to be attentive to the ecosystem as a whole to see good things coming.

I find it reasonable to mine and then stake the mined coin.  Then use a bit of the eth to speculate.  Again, ymmv.

yes you have a point up to those projects that did well. but anything below those (which are..pump and dump, fail coins, scam, buying power of idiot community) that did well you need agility to enter and exit "early"

Yeah early on I was susceptible to farm tokens but I pretty quickly converged on a thesis of sticking with the gas token of a good growing chain and at most maybe one dex/amm token.  At that I favor the dex's that have their own yield available on their native tokens, like was mentioned above that eliminates impermanent loss and also I've found saves gas.  I won't even mention names, some were already mentioned but I'm not shilling bags here at all.  I'm in around 4 dexes and of those at least 2 are multi-chain and I am in them in more than one chain.

When a good new chain launches or better still offers strong liquidity mining programs, they will often experience quick capital appreciation and often you can get in between the announcement of the LM and the implementation and still get good gains.  I'll take the gains and roll half or more back into btc and/or eth.

Again, farming or speculating isn't for everyone.  I could probably do or have done as well at only mining and being more aggressive about buying and selling video cards or ASICs and looking for hosting or power deals.  But I've also gotten burned by buying and selling cards like on ebay, so actually not dealing with the individual while trading tokens appeals to me personally.

I totally understand you..being not the most early but early enough to get gains..there is money to be made.

when the bullrun is still not over you are still early because - it is not topped yet

when the market peaks you should be early enough to exit.

when the bear market begins it is still early enough to sell because - it has not bottomed yet

when the market bottoms you should be early enough to buy.

when the cards are still cheap you should be early enough to buy.

is you master the "way of earliness" you already got at least half the battle won..more like 70-80%
