2761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Historical Bitcoin Prices😊 on: January 03, 2022, 05:20:59 PM
When i involved in cryptocurrency 2015, Bitcoin price was $400+.Now bitcoin price around $47k+. I'm fully satisfied about BTC price.
You should satisfy if you bought Bitcoin years ago and still hold it now. It means your belief in Bitcoin, blockchain technology and this market is very big.

Now bitcoin is most valuable coin in market and number on coin market cap
Price is not most important. Marketcap, adoption level and communities are more important factors. It takes other cryptocurrencies to reach to the level of adoption and success with which Bitcoin has now, 13 years after the Genesis Block on 3 January 2009.

Check its historic price on its birthday from 2011 to 2021
2762  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do we have trading chatroom exclusive for bitcointalk traders? on: January 03, 2022, 05:10:29 PM
I don't think it will be accepted but if you would prefer to have such trading chatroom, you can try by asking Cyrus in Bitcointalk Party - Discord server

Currently, it has a channel for Bitcoin discussion so that at least it gives you hope for another channel for Trading discussion. You can raise this idea in that Discord server, then a community vote might be carried out & vote result will help you. Anyway, the important start is convincing Cyrus to open such community vote.

Let's try.

what is the mechanism I don't know, if the user is doing or not, I saw it simply give points without doing a proper task.
As a Gleam host, you will receive results whether a participant task submission is valid or invalid. To say about whether it check and detect cheaters, it is complicated and honestly I did not read too much about their mechanism.

Anyway, it is helpful to minimize work load from contest operators. I don't say Gleam or any similar contest providers are perfect to detect cheaters and give rates for works of participants. Somewhat they are useful and at least it saves lot of time for contest operators.

2765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin mistake In 2020-2021 on: January 03, 2022, 03:34:09 PM
I did a big mistake in 2018 if my memory served me correctly. Bought some shit coin by Bitcoin and just lost that. It's not recoverable anymore though I am holding with hope. I did o ly mistake in 2022 that I sold my Bitcoin for around $38K and failed to take advantage of ATH. Not only that, even I didn't dare to accumulate Bitcoin when the price dropped below $30K. That's what I did a mistake. Although didn't lose much but failed to gain many ads well. I took a lesson from the past and tried to accumulate in the dip. Not sure if my plan works well. But hope I could do something this year.
I think you are like me and many others do the same when we have little experience in crypto market.

We take profit in Bitcoin and try to invest into altcoins. Because we don't have patience to wait for Bitcoin dips, then hunting and betting with altcoins. In the end, altcoins divided by 10, 20 or 100 times in bear market. We lost money for altcoins and it's my regret. Very few altcoins can survive through bear market and can recover to their past all time high. It is not mentioned about their ability to make a new all time high in a new bull market.

We see it again since 2020 and 2021. Many new projects have been created and shilled as potential projects. Let's see how will the end with?

  • In order to own private key, you must use non-custodial wallets.

    • Verify wallet first, before using it to store your Bitcoin. Because if you download a fake wallet and use it to store your Bitcoin, your Bitcoin will be stolen
    • Back it up safely and offline. You should have multiple backups and have methods to keep them safely from water, fire, physical damages, etc.
2767  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin mistake In 2020-2021 on: January 03, 2022, 10:51:41 AM
I find no wrong in your decision and that is not totally a mistake, Because you did what assurance need to take place , no one knows what will be the price tomorrow, so that action is best than not getting any profit at all.
if we only knew the price in the future of course we will never sell any of our coins and will buy and buy more right? but it is not the reality here.
We are not market makers, we are not governments so the best strategy is take capital back as first priority. Then we can gradually take profit and if we are strongly believe in future of Bitcoin, let's allocate part of our Bitcoin for next 10 years or 20 years or longer. It is like a ticket to become millionaire or billionaire. I said about it

Anyway, in bad scenario, we won't lose our capital and already take profit to enjoy our lives.

I have committed mistakes in the past when the price of Bitcoin Hit the ATH back in 2017 and i kept on waiting for more increase then what happened?
This is what all people have to learn in crypto market. When price goes up, they hope price will goes up forever and reject to take profit. When price falls down, they reject to cut loss and believe it's just correction after that price will rise and make new all time highs.
2768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Has anyone used gleam for Airdrop or giveaways? on: January 03, 2022, 10:06:52 AM
Is there anyone who used gleam for Airdrops or giveaways, Plz share me pros as well as cons?
Gleam basically charges you for adding on certain kinds of ways for audiences to enter the giveaway (e.g. use a specific hashtag).
Companies with Gleam account will create Gleam contests and include tasks for participants. Participants will have to complete given tasks and compete with others in order to win Gleam contest.

Gleam has mechanisms to detect cheat activities. If they detect such, they will mark your task submission as Invalid. It's sure that invalid participants will be excluded when companies pick up winners for Gleam contests.

There are multiple tasks company can include in Gleam. It depends on their needs and their Gleam account (Pro, Business, etc.)

All the draft messages get saved here.
There are some limitations with drafts: 100 draft posts and 7 days and if you don't click on Preview or actually post it, yours won't be saved in Draft page
2770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin mistake In 2020-2021 on: January 02, 2022, 02:43:53 PM
One of the ways I save my Bitcoin is by buying during the deep never looking at it again for over some time.
My advice is if you buy 1 Bitcoin, you should separate it into some pieces and have plan to take capital back first, then take profit with pieces gradually. To do this, you must invest in your own money, not loan, not leverage, etc.

If you can split your 1 BTC into 10 pieces, and reserve 0.1 BTC for next 10 years, let's check back next 10 years to see whether with 0.1 BTC in 2032, you will be able to sell it with high value than 0.9 BTC you sell this year or next couple of years.

The best strategy is taking profit in order to get initial capital back. For the rest of your initial investment, you can bet with your belief and the market.

I have learned big from that small mistake of the past 2020-2021.
You did not make mistake and you should enjoy won trades or investments you have. If you feel you made mistake by taking profit too early, it's bad and will affect your next decisions.
2771  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding NFTs on: January 02, 2022, 02:32:07 AM
NFTs are just digital art, music, video games, etc.
NFTs have multiple use cases and digital arts, music, video games are just part of them. In future, the NFT technology will be used in more industries such as finance, data storage (we already have some data scientific companies apply NFT for health records, etc.), land or human resource management, etc.

Last two years, NFTs are hyped and cause people to think it as a scam trend but time will tell and above are my opinion. I aware that there are many scam projects were created recent months and try to abuse the NFT trend to steal money from inexperienced and naive investors. However, don't equate scam projects with good projects. They can be created by same technology but good are good, bad are bad and scam are scam.

Quote
that are coded into the ethereum blockchain, correct?
Inaccurately! NFTs can be built on different blockchain, ERC20, BSC, SOL, DOT, Polygon, AVAX, etc. The trend is projects try to build up their products on multiple chains, cross-chain.
2772  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which trading strategy would be a good start for new traders? on: January 01, 2022, 06:40:05 AM
Short-term, you can get profit from trading
Long-term, you mostly end with loses from trading

If it is long-term, it is easier, more comfortable and more profitable if you do with investment. Investment is different than gambling. I meant if you intend to do long term investment, you must start with your in-depth research about projects. Then if you conclude it is good and believe in it, you can allocate your capital into it as one of your long term investment.

To be safe, just in case all things go wrong and worse than any of your expectation, don't all in!
Let's allocate a big budget for your daily expenses in about 1 or 2 years which is enough time for bear market to finish.

Imagine, you allocate all money you have at $10000, then in bear market, it is divided 10 times to $1000 and if you don't have other budget to pay daily expenses, you will have to sell part of it to use. Assume you sell $100 for such purpose, it equals to $1000 in your initial capital. That is painful!
2773  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Beginner Bitcoin Questions for 2021 (will be posting more in 2022) on: January 01, 2022, 03:11:33 AM
1) Once all 21million bitcoin have been mined, will transaction fees be enough incentive for miners to continue validating transactions on the blockchain?
Bitcoin network operates by mining through Proof of Work and block rewards are not the most important thing to maintain its operations and Proof of Work activities by mining. Miners will get mining rewards in either block rewards or transaction cost. The latter one is more important.

It's hard to predict what price Bitcoin will have after 21M Bitcoins all mined but for now, you can look at the very latest block #716616, you will see some stats
  • Fee total: 0.08266016BTC ~3,826USD
  • What value will 0.0826 BTC be in next 1 century, when 21M BTC mined?. It would be huge and it would be enough for miners to enjoy income from transaction fee.
  • Imagine it like years ago, if a miner got a reward as 1 BTC, it was not enough but now 1 BTC from mining reward is a dream for miners. The same goes for transaction fee for each block one century later

Quote
2) What is the significance of bitcoin being "open source"? Doesn't that mean that the fixed amount of Bitcoin in the original code could be changed? (This speaks to my lack of programming knowledge I guess)
No. You can not. Bitcoin transactions and blocks can not be reversed. Especially impossible if it is blocks and transactions done 11 years ago. People can only make Bitcoin forks but past blocks will be unchanged.

To understand more about impossibility of reversing very old transactions, please read
Quote
One way to think about the blockchain is like layers in a geological formation, or glacier core sample. The surface layers might change with the seasons, or even be blown away before they have time to settle. But once you go a few inches deep, geological layers become more and more stable. By the time you look a few hundred feet down, you are looking at a snapshot of the past that has remained undisturbed for millions of years. In the blockchain, the most recent few blocks might be revised if there is a chain recalculation due to a fork. The top six blocks are like a few inches of topsoil. But once you go more deeply into the blockchain, beyond six blocks, blocks are less and less likely to change. After 100 blocks back, there is so much stability that the coinbase transaction—the transaction containing newly mined bitcoin—can be spent. A few thousand blocks back (a month) and the blockchain is settled history, for all practical purposes. While the protocol always allows a chain to be undone by a longer chain and while the possibility of any block being reversed always exists, the probability of such an event decreases as time passes until it becomes infinitesimal.

Quote
3) A major draw to cryptos like Bitcoin is its decentralized nature.
I am doubtful that most of people attracted this way. They probably were attracted by volatility of Bitcoin market with which they see great potential to earn huge profit if they accepting risk.

Quote
4) If a block is limited to approximately 2,400 transactions. Once Bitcoin becomes more widely used and there are millions of transactions taking place everyday, wouldn't that create a backlog of transactions? And couldn't that make the system super slow and inefficient at confirming transactions. (could the code be updated to allow blocks to be confirmed faster than 10 minutes?)
It can be done via Consensus upgrade of the Protocol or via Layer 2 solutions such as Lightning Network.

Since 2020, whenever you look at Lightning Network, you will see it grows very fast.

I never allow auto download feature. I would like to spend a little more time to read pop up message, then I can approve downloading or not.

On Telegram, it is a paradise for spammers and scammers so people should customize their Privacy & Security settings because in default settings, it allows everyone to call you, to see your phone number and can add you to groups & channels.

I think such a board would just be a paradise for spammers
This. The idea is broken at beginning.

Strict board moderation is not something we can expect if we take into account what happened in the Press board.
We don't need more moderation task for things which basically are unnecessary. No need for new world load for current moderators. No need to hire new moderators and assign them this task.

If anyone love Twitter and Twitter influencers, let's do their homework: Searching.

Search engines will give good list, articles about Twitter influencers, such as The Top 100 Crypto and Blockchain Influencers (on Twitter). Need more, search more, it's easy  Cheesy
2776  Other / Meta / Re: New child board idea - Notable Twitter Threads on: December 28, 2021, 11:02:54 AM
So I've noticed that there's a TON of bitcoin related discussion that happens on twitter.

It would be cool if we had a "notable twitter threads" child board so if users see something interesting, they can share it for others here.
Bitcointalk forum is mainly for Bitcoin discussions about developments, technical supports, etc. Other things are supplementary elements only, not main ones.

Twitter is full of tweets from influencers, KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) and not all of them provides correct information. If a forum has a new child board, namely Notable Twitter, it will bring other issues: a new moderator for that child board.

It is unnecessary at beginning (original idea) to moderation phase.

If you need one place, here you go with Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion. If any newbie want to get notable information from social media about Bitcoin, that thread is place to start.

The bot that I'm talking about is Gunbot, and you have the opportunity to see what it can do and see the other features it has to offer. I can assist you if you want.
As I know, you used this bot many years ago (probably more than 4 or 5 years) because I remembered when I saw you on the forum years ago, you already mentioned that you used Gunbot and if my memory is correct, there were times you even wore signature of Gunbot.

Anyway, I know Gunbot is good  Cheesy

2778  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: That honest attitude is better than the thousands of spam posts you spread on: December 28, 2021, 02:47:02 AM
I remember someone also do the same thing to me when I sent my BTC accidentally.
I have big respect for those people they are very kind and honest.
It has some factors when people did not refund mistakenly sent Bitcoin.

  • They are greedy and don't mind to refund. Such people are aware of where and how they can refund.
  • Newbies who don't know how to refund for some reasons
    • Don't know how to use Block explorers
    • Don't know how to check addresses from which those BTC sent to their addresses, etc.
  • So be very careful with your transactions, check details of your transaction multiple times before you broadcast it. Bitcoin transaction is irreversible so when it was gone, let's assumed you already lost it, forever

Some members gave you good topics above. I support them with a few topics & minor advice.

In order to use the forum better & more effectively, you should know how to search and know about hidden pages/ features of the forum.

Spend a few minutes to read the Satoshi's lesson that is a mediocre topic which will help you to start and keep up your motivation to contribute good things on the forum in long run.
