281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 12, 2016, 03:49:43 AM
Hello guys,

I am ready to play with Mist wallet. I am fairly new to the Bitcoin community and completely new to the Ethereum.

Would someone be kind enough to share 1 ETH so I can test the wallet out.

Thanks!

I'll send you a couple tomorrow so you can try it out.

You can make a research yourself with charts and hookers if you want so. I will give few examples of most successful projects:

  • Mastercoin  (ran by public persons; transparent) -> huge ROI
  • Ethereum (ran by public persons and escrowed) -> 20x ROI
  • Factom (ran by public persons and escrowed; open and transparent) -> 200% ROI ATM
  • etc

Unlike legit projects scams are not open and transparent because they have nothing to report as no work has been done.

If you did a little research, you would see that CFB, mthcl, and iotatoken are all public people.  You can find their full names and countries of origin.  Even whitepaper reviewers like Kushti are public. The difference between Iota and the other coins you listed is that Iota team doesn't feel it's necessary to advertise their names as a way to increase crowd funding.

How are we doing on total claim % for Iota crowd sale?

If you are asking me - I don't have these data, I'm tracking big addresses like 1LfCHYaqZcgoJfFc69aYZpg4NGVgpQQd2u.

I wasn't, I was asking David who I figured has been tracking collections.

Also...
According to my experience there is two types of legit projects. Ones that ran by public persons and others that escrowed by services like koinify. Iota/Jinn is neither ran by a public person nor escrowed. Why doesn't CfB ran away right now with a half of a million dollars? Just to ran another vaporware project to make more money!

Usually I don't do researches at all because most of crowdsale/IPOs give positive ROI (some of them gave me > 1000% profit). Sometimes I get burned but nice profits cover these small losses. This time I din't even do elementary checks and got burned (we all did). So say goodbye to your money. Sorry about that.

Btw, my avatar has nothing to do with Islam. Actually it's kinda sarcastic.

SOOOO.....

IOTA CROWDSALE IS OVER

934.2 BTC

I miss the days when trolls were smart and original.  At least Emule had some charts to back up his claims.

I'm wondering if anyone has any price predictions for the coming year?  I believe BTC will double in price this year with the hashing rate halving.  I think that is a sure bet.  However I love the fact that ethereum is completely different, sounds very promising, love the world's computer tag line and everything else.

Does the community (you guys) think the price of ETH will go above $2 USD per ETH this year?  I watched it go from nearly 50cents to $1 this past year.

Well, first of all the hashing rate isn't halving, the block reward is halving.  So understand what that is before price predicting.  If the devs deliver on half of what they say for ETH, I can see it easily at $2-3 this year.

While we are waiting for the end of the sale let's try to find an interesting use-case for such Iota feature as multisignature with unlimited number of participants. A virtual country with a budget controlled by 51% of its citizens is the only thing that came to my mind.

Crowd funded/owned companies or sports teams.

Almost 700 BTC Shocked
how much BTC are the current JINN tokens?

I think it's really hard to put a firm BTC # on Jinn Tokens because lack of liquidity and the fact that they aren't going to sell those Jinn tokens.  It's obviously important for your Iota stake %, but I wouldn't calculate Jinn Token totals in their overall funds raising #.

True, but it's easy to calculate for people how big their portion will be, given that we set a fixed value on the JINN tokens.
The JINN tokens we have received will just be absorbed back into the company and won't be sold.

So what is the total BTC sum at this point including Jinn shares sent?

Well done Sir, really a great article/interview  Smiley

Thanks mate!

Wasn't intentionally an interview. I was just getting my queries cleared regarding IOTA. That conversation seems like good enough for article. composed it, published it. Smiley

Interesting, Lerner will be reviewing IOTA source, that's pretty awesome.

For my German Altcoinblog I have interviewed IOTA-CEO David Sønstebø aka iotatoken. I think this interview could be also very interesting for the English-Speaking Community so I created two versions:
English: https://altcoinspekulant.wordpress.com/2015/12/08/iota-interview-with-ceo-david-sonstebo-english-version/
German: https://altcoinspekulant.wordpress.com/2015/12/08/iota-interview-mit-ceo-david-sonstebo/

Yes, my English could be better, I know  Wink

Many thanks David for the detailed answers!

Didn't realize BCNext invested, that's pretty cool.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NXT] Nxt - Official Thread on: December 02, 2015, 05:08:26 AM

why not buy xmr and nxt ?

both are good coins, both are high risk of failure, reward if successful will be massive - only an idiot would buy one instead of both

I just don't get coin zealots at all

Mostly because Monero only has one feature, anonymity.  Nxt shuffling is just one of a dozen features.

That's right.  Monero does one thing better than anyone else, while NXT violates the KISS principle and fails at a dozen different useless "features."

But it's not Monero NXT bagholders should be worried about.  Turning-complete ETH is the real NXT killer (if NXT isn't already dead).

And yet Nxt still has a higher marketcap......interesting.

Are you walking with pocket TVsets, guys? My phone has 84x48 resolution.  Grin

I guess it's time to get a new phone.

So they are all integer and total # is 1 quintillion minus 1, right? - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_large_numbers
Maybe. There is ambiguity in number names, e.g. sometimes a billion contains 9 zeros, sometimes 12. There are 18 decimal places in Iota amounts.

What is the rationale to create such a huge amount of coins?

Micro-Transactions.

Does anyone know what the ETH market cap would look like if the price of one ETH was $10?

It depends on when it hit $10 because of ETH yearly inflation, just like BTC
