Why is NXT falling down?
Do you think it will reach 0,00005000 btc again ?

Maybe, we had a dip before it skyrocketed before, so don't wait to long.

Why not zerocoin? Any unproven tech will need to be reviewed by cryptographic authority and we know that is not so easy.

I'll read Zerocoin whitepaper tomorrow and will think. Today is too late, time to drink milk and go to bed soon.

In my search for a crypto algo reviewer, I was referred to a crypto expert named Matt Green.  He did get back to me yesterday and said he was currently advising Zerocoin but might have some time to review our code.  I did mention to him that we were interested in implementing Zerocoin with Nxt POS and would like him to review our code if he could.  Here is his blog, seems like a really nice guy; http://blog.cryptographyengineering.com/

Also, I've had a hard time getting crypto people to review the code, they would rather review a protocol design document instead of code.

Vault of Satoshi adding NXT in near future!
http://www.coindesk.com/vault-of-satoshi-new-altcoin-support/

"Among those soon to be supported by the exchange are Marketcoin, and Nxt. However, these are taking considerably more work due to their fundamentally different architectures, he said."

I suggest everyone email Vault of Satoshi to give your support of Nxt, they will most likely implement Nxt quickly if they see the support.  hello@vaultofsatoshi.com

Well, for one, NXT is not inflationary. Emunie and Eth have huge inflation.

So why would NXT lose it's store of value if "it does not gain investor focus"? Will all of your coins suddenly be worth less?

Also, is it just me or suddenly in the last 5 pages or so people became very, very concerned with price? People forgot already NXT went all the way up to $60mil market cap in 2 months already? Yes, it's a slow period, price-wise, but this always happens after a large rise.

My advice, don't worry about the price. We have people here that constantly deliver good results, I wouldn't want them to half-ass something just so a few people can make a quick buck.

Many new users here concerned about price, probably recent acquisitions.  I have never been concerned with marketcap, Nxt is larger than any $ value, it's potential and usability can supersede any current crypto.  It's hard for people not to worry about price when they acquire Nxt for a quick profit, every currency has day traders.  Regardless, if you bought BTC in '11 and weathered the storm, you are rich.  The same goes for Nxt, our '11 is now.
1145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 29, 2014, 05:31:00 AM

Could someone help clear the air? Assuming I invest 5 BTC, therefore receiving 10,000 ether, what is the worst/best case scenario after the release?

Sorry for the tangent!

I too would like to read an answer to this question.

worst case: total failure, no block chain, no ether returned, all fundraising money is gone!!! HAHAHA

duh man

and Vitalik steals your girlfriend.

Hey guys who wants to give me 1 million next? 500k is also fine  Grin

Show me a cross platform client that includes decentralized exchange, encrypted messaging, decentralized marketplace, alias transfer, reputation system, voting system, full account control and I'll send you 500k!

...
My intention was to examine the question of whether nxt would or would not tend to cause the rich to get richer at the expense of the poor.
...

ok this should be interesting.  let me sleep on it.  But my first take would be that, NXT being a zero sum game (unlike wealth) does cause that.  Though not strictly "unfairly" where the poor get nothing in return for paying the rich

I think even if this were a legit criticism i think it would be a bit like saying that nausea as a side effect is a legit criticism of some break through life saving medicine. which would be true but a little bit beside the point if you are dying of cancer (like we are right now from the cancer called the state) and this medicine could potentially save you.

Or we could just say that Nxt is moving beyond POS as stated by CFB.
1148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 29, 2014, 05:10:07 AM
Thinking out loud here... just to be prepared, if fund raising will go on as described:

Lets say there are max 500 active readers on this thread, 250 may eventually invest in fund raising. Lets limit our investment from 0.01 to max. 5 BTC if you are still compelled to invest.  Those who invest 5 BTC are still making 500x investment.  If this community can agree to this, this will limit the X factor within an acceptable range and puts Eth in its rightful place, with no proven product and no indication of long term commitment.

There were 1200 people in Miami conference, max 600 may invest.  So my guess is maybe with limited media exposure, max a final total of 1000 people will invest in the 2 month period.  We can do our part to make sure funds total will not go beyond 1000 btc.

If after all this criticism and no answers to the legit questions raised on this thread, you still feel compelled to invest:  Limit your investment to less than 5 btc, preferably less than 1 and buy whatever you want later from the miners. That seems to be the most logical thing to do.  Eth is not going anywhere and it will not become the world's dominant cryptocurrency overnight.  I think the price will very likely drop when mining begins because miners prefer to exchange Eth with the proven BTC that holds value.

My prediction: the IPO will sell out within a week. Flame me all you want...just come back here February 8 so I can gloat.

Do you people have any idea how many whales are out there, already enriched beyond their wildest dreams by bitcoin's meteoric rise, willing to throw a few "pennies" (thousands of btc) at a worthy project? There are probably teenagers out there who got lucky with $100 three years ago, buying btc for pennies, who would think nothing of throwing a few thousand this way.

FWIW, I'm putting in the vast majority of my admittedly small bitcoin savings--because just a chance to be part of the next Apple, or Microsoft, or Java, or Google is enough for me.

Not as many as you think, most early BTC holders sold at various times in the past, very few actually held on since buying in '11.

Ripple is centralized.

No it's not. Their network is decentralized. Sure they have pre-mine, but so do we.

Quote
Because Ripple’s exchange is distributed as opposed to centralized, the whole concept of co-location becomes fundamentally different. There is simply no central location near which you would co-locate for a speed advantage. Ripple exists on servers around the world, and anyone can easily spin up their own copy of a Ripple server for free. (The code is open source.)

https://ripple.com/blog/ripples-distributed-exchange-and-the-high-frequency-trading-arms-race/

That's why I think decentralized marketplace in addition to decentralized exchange could be what launches Nxt above BTC.   If Nxt users are able to create a specific marketplace using an API, then send the link via AM for download, which would then be viewable in nexern client.  Users could then view/contribute to marketplace via a torrent style setup.  We would create a huge irreplaceable economy.

Ya know what i was thinking today? of course you don't thats why I'm about to tell you.

I've been hearing a lot of criticism of bitcoin lately from the potential for altcoins to erode the trust in the concept of digital scarcity. Most notably the interview with adam back on lets talk bitcoin. By building decentralized exchange into the bottom protocol layer I think nxt can potentially restore this trust. Think about it, no other copy of nxt will ever have markets with as much market depth as nxt. Meaning their copy nxt will never has as much utility. Thus a copy of nxt is not "just as good as nxt". Since no copy of nxt will ever be "just as good as nxt" nxt can be thought of as scarce in a way that bitcoin can not.

I think this could be added to our list of "core arguments" in favor of nxt.

Yeah, I like he idea, but the more we build on top layer, the less can be copied.  Take Nxt marketplace for example.  If users were able to access a specific decentralized Nxt Marketplace (like a torrent) and be able to view and contribute to the market within their client, we would add immense unique value to Nxt, because that couldn't be copied or accessed outside of the Nxt network.

To the kind, wonderful soul who owns 6483973064837388393:

THANK YOU!!!

Congrats! And now my turn Grin

I hope someone has paid Mario123 a bounty for his site.  Perhaps Salsacz with the marketing Nxt he received.
sure, it is written in the gdoc:
New Website   http://www.mynxt.org/   -1000   14831357961500528319   sent
I am helping to both sites - nxtcrypto and mynxt with reporting bugs and asking for features. Especially to mynxt, because I would like to recommend it sometimes (in decentralized world we can choose which site to promote)

Awesome, thanks for staying on top of that.

NXT Asset Exchange is being released before April, right?

Yeah, the API is already being tested, should be soon.

Have you got any idea about some other article? Share it. We would love to have more scientific articles, financial, economical, IT...

I would really like to see a one page PDF summarizing Nxt with link to NxtCrytpo at bottom.  Something we can email out to companies, exchanges, websites, etc... as a general info document, nice graphs, stats, with a visually pleasing layout.  Do we have something like that already?

Oh, very nice!

I think that between now and the launches of emunie and ethereum, it is a golden time window for Nxt to doing the marketing. We should bombard the market to establish the Nxt as the original and #1 to the 2nd generation crypto as the bitcoin to the 1st generation.

keep up the great work!

We are in a race against the other currencies, but that race doesn't involve marketing, it involves feature set.  You can't market a currency like other consumer products.  It takes 5 minutes for someone to rid themselves completely of Nxt, it's not a durable good commitment.  Hence, marketing is so temporary when it comes to cryptos.  Look at sexcoin, where are they now, after all their marketing?  I may be the only one here, but to me a product that is over marketed sends a message to me; the product isn't good enough for me to discover purely on usability/feature set.  People like to discover products on their own, through word of mouth.  Nxt should focus on appealing to our core audience, crypto enthusiasts (technically minded people/developers), that gives us legitimacy in the crypto world.  Our best marketing is a very robust and usable currency feature set.

a sneak peak to my idea about a green Nxt video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic_WLMPX888&feature=youtu.be

Salsacz, I like the message, but the video comes across as somewhat amateurish with weird editing cuts.  I really like your animated Nxt intro video and feel that this message would be much better served in an animated video, then you can incorporate more stats without the distracting backdrop of people.
1158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 28, 2014, 03:54:16 PM

My goal is to make an api later, so that everyone can create it's own nxtion clones, but still based on my blockchain data.

That would be great, especially for decentralized marketplace.
1159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 28, 2014, 03:21:21 PM

Can you PM me which features do you want to see the most? Smiley I'm currently thinking about doing a NXT reddit. (with the different discussion areas)

If we can get a specific sum in NXT I could also take a break for a few months and working full-time on this.

Sure, let me think on it and I'll get back.  Overall I was thinking a reddit or a BTT style would be great.  Reddit might be a little more appropriate and easier to follow if I had to vote on it.
1160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 28, 2014, 03:01:44 PM
Speaking about voting. Can we just make it possible to choose method when one starts a voting? And maybe even edit parameters?

Yes, we can.

For all the people discussing voting (and I appreciate it!), let's not focus on whether it's 1 NXT = 1 vote or 1 account = 1 vote - it's neither.

If we want to solve it we need to find a clever, unexpected, original solution.

So start throwing here your crazy ideas, like "voting with your car" or "voting with your cat", instead of going in circles.
It would be great to develop a decentralized social network based on nxt. This will bring personalities to decision making process and they will care about their reputation. Also there will be groups and message boards to work together on world problems. On the other hand, such network itself will make nxt famous and everybody in the world will know what it is.
Let's give free people everything they need: money, power, electronic democracy!
Was it crazy enough?

CFB offered a bounty to develop a decentralized forum similar to BTT, but no one had tackled the project so far

Hey,

I'm doing this with nxtion.com. Wink Although there aren't many people which seem interested. :/

Soon encrypted messages will be implemented. For this I need to add quite some code. I need to code a whole new section. Then discussions will be implemented, after this a statistic and search option. Last but not least the possibility to post to other people walls. Also I plan to do groups.

If you want to discuss about specific topics, do you want areas (like on nextcoin.org: General, Economy, Promotion, Marketplace etc.) or do you want a simple thread where you can discuss the given topic?

Here are the votes for features: https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=666

Awesome, thanks for doing that, I'm definitely interested.
