Also has his own coin project that works on top of Nxt AM, which I'm excited about!

The founder of this coin is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=209881, I just provide technical support. She will create the web interface.

Good to know.  Thanks.

Shouldn't we offer a bounty for this from the 9mil, I mean we did just spend 250k on marketing.  I also offered 100k bounty for this in the thread.

does it work?

can we use it, will it be implemented in the client?

Pin

I'm talking about offering a bounty for it, so when someone develops it, they will get Nxt.

Can we at least wait until we have a completed White Paper and Open Source Client.  I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!  I would like to have a nice brief article explaining Nxt, Features, POS, and then at the bottom, a download link for one of the Open Source Clients.  You can't throw arbitrary marketing ideas around and expect funding, be more specific.  We need to wait until we have a one click client, or we will lose people forever.

How about this: we actually tell people that these things are in development. We prioritise the white paper.
We already know the client is priority.

We use the fact that the client is coming as a hook. We can already tell people about the things that are there, but only available to the happy techy few. People want things they can't have.

And we also prioritise to get a marketing plan out within the next few days with concrete and verifiable goals that are not too far into the future.

We've been telling people that BS for a month, let's actually do it.  Put a 250k white paper bounty up right now, and all those who contributed can share it.

We have tons of articles already....but yes this should be FINISHED ASAP!!

Then why are you so adamant on Marketing funding?

Why can't we wait until we have an open source client like nexern, then start with marketing?  We need to point people to an easy one click install, otherwise people will come and then leave confused.  Also, we need to focus on several core features so we have something to market.

Marketing takes time. We need to start now to have things ready in a timely fashion. Do you think we can say let there be marketing and the next day we have it???

Look at the power of having a single mainstream exchange has. I have been saying we need a place to trade NXT reliably. I was right.

I am saying we need to start a larger scale marketing plan now, eg. salascz's plan.

James

No we don't, we need to build the best features of any alt crypto, and the marketing will take care of itself.  We need very specific proposals for marketing anyway.  Everyone said we need to be on mainstream exchanges, so what, that has nothing to do with marketing, they added us because of the Nxt features.

There will be an open source client in 1 WEEK

Then let's wait one week, and see where we are at that point.  We also need people to be able to buy Nxt on a trusted exchange quickly.

IMHO the primary focus should be on client development and on the completion of advanced features; then the whitepaper (the lack of a detailed technical paper is embarrassing and "the source code is the whitepaper" is a glib response); then marketing and PR materials.

I also (as I have said time and time again) think we need to translate existing materials into as many languages as possible.  Hell -- I could even argue that the whitepaper is a translation exercise, from "Java" into "Engish" (and every other written language).

Moreover: the proliferation of text into different languages in all kinds of places is NOT helpful.  We should favor interfaces that allow for "in-place" translation of existing text -- so that when changes are made, translations can be updated at the source instead of tracking down copies of outdated copies of outdated copies.  The wiki does this now; other sites like nxtcrypto.org and the forums can do this by implementing add-ons and extensions.

ALL OF THIS is moot, however, until we have robust, usable clients for everyday users.

+1 White paper should be a priority at the moment.  In two weeks, we should have a couple good open source clients available.  If we can develop decentralized exchange, market, voting, there will be no stopping Nxt.

CFB, would be cool if you could update the OP, just so people who come here know that the first two flaws have been found and the fatal flaw has yet to be found.
1293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NEX :: descendant of NXT on: January 19, 2014, 05:36:51 AM
I always like it when someone claims they are doing something for the benefit of others, when really it only benefits themselves.

If he was a true believer, he would support Nxt instead of wasting his time and others with his trivial clone.  He is only doing this for his own financial gain.  He is not interested in helping you.  He is only doing this to help himself.  He has to steal the words of others, because he doesn't have any beliefs of his own; except the belief that he should profit at the detriment of others.

If we expect to free ourselves from economic oppression, we must work together for a common purpose.

He may be able to copy code, but he can't copy motivations and intent.

The owners of a free currency deserve a fair and free distribution!

So your currency will never have any value?

Tell that to the guy who bought a pizza for 10,000 BTC.

Dear god, couldn't you have come up with a more unique name.  Well people are going to be really angry when initial investors start to sell their Nex, since they got it for free.  No matter what, there is always unfair distribution with a POS.

Im kinda confused; The countdown.. is it for the actual launch of the coin, for the IPO, for more info, or what?

It's for the launch of the IPO which should last 30-60 days but no one really knows.  We are still at least 3 months out for the coin launch.

Finally bought some NXT! Only 940 as that's all I could afford.

So to forge you need to leave the web browser on with the lock unlocked?

Is there a way to leave it unlocked for forging for when the PC starts up? So I don't have to open browser and login each time?

Final question: is it even worth leaving it unlocked with that little NXT?

You can start the client, open browser, unlock account, then close browser with account unlocked.  As long as your CMD is running, you will be forging.  It's definitely worth forging with Transparent Mining, but there will be new features added, like forging pools, where you can just have your Nxt join a pool without ever leaving your account or giving up your passcode, really innovative stuff.  If you shut off your computer, you will no longer be forging, and same goes with restarting your computer.  I just leave my computer running 24/7 since it's a node.  You can also run your client on R Pi machines.

anyone got a .bat file for starting nrs? or can paste me the text here to make one. please?

I use: java -jar start.jar :save as in notpad .bat

If you are running a x64 system, make sure you download the x64 version of Java, otherwise if java is in x86 folder you will have to point to it in your .bat file.
