You? Of course you should not. It's designed for people thinking about secure messaging.

For secure messages I can use OTR for free.

The entire vision behind Nxt is to have the longest feature list among all alt-coins.

Nxt - "Everything but the kitchen sink".

I guess this is a good time to announce that I plan to sell a Nxt kitchen sink by end of '15.

That could be one of the features in BCNxt 'secret plans' that he has "yet to reveal".

Perhaps that was the end game all along, Nxt Kitchen Sink in every home.

I'll use twitter. It is HTTPS. If I'm paranoid that it knows my IP - I'll use Tor.
SO... u think twitter is secure? have you read all that things about NSA obama and all that friends?

There is a sentence about Tor which is older, more reviewed and have bigger community. And it is free and open-source.

I actually agree with you when you think about messaging as a stand alone feature.  I look at it this way.  Secure messaging is just one tool I use when completing a fully independent Nxt transaction.  Meaning, at one point you will be able to browse products, communicate with seller, initiate purchase, put Nxt in escrow (receive item), send funds, leave feedback, all within Nxt client.  That is just one example of hundreds that could be used with Nxt secure messaging.

while Ethereum only has "touring complete" talk and fantasies and a failed IPO attempt.

It's turing and we had to delay the IPO because we were offered too much money. If that's failure, then I like to fail Smiley

Yes, I would say that is failure.  When you are offered too much money you become Ripple 2.0  You lose all credibility with core user base when their small investments are overshadowed by large investors who are throwing money at you because of a list of names associated with Ethereum.

You succeed when you launch a working product.  Agree with me or not, the next big thing in crypto is launched with little fanfare. Nxt

.1 should be good.

In the meantime, I wish to report that 0.7.0 is running successfully with an H2 database backend, no more serialized java object files. No need to keep all blocks and transactions in memory anymore.

Magic!  nice work.

No, computer science. Wink

I'm starting to like ChuckOne.

While I commend you for your work, I am wondering what is this for specifically?

I thought we all agreed that coins and similar representations should not be a thing in NXT?
NXTs logo is all we really need? Why do we need a geometric shape?

It's called, freedom to do whatever the fuck you want.  And CFB asked for it, so please accept it.
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 04, 2014, 09:33:23 PM

My assessment was that it would take much longer to decipher the maths and algos of zerocoin/zerocash and I like to be making progress instead of waiting, especially when there is a large overlap of things that we need to do at the higher level like NXT escrow.

James

Thanks for the update.

Hi here

One question is bothering me for a while: is there any plans to create a solution of accepting NXT in e-shop, etc.? I mean payment tool, like bitpay for example.

Now we are spending thousands of NXT for 1 minute on radio, while we could spend on payment tool development. Now we just spend our NXT on exchanges, in other words come like a squirrel in the wheel.

Or did I miss something?
There is 40,000 NXT bounty for project to accept NXT via standard shopping cart modules. wesleyh is working with another guy on this.

James

James, how is the mixing implementation coming along?

great, any ETA already?
First CfB should port the Asset Exchange bugfixes and new APIs to 0.6.0, and at the same time I plan to do some profiling and optimizations of 0.7.0 if needed, and then merge the 0.6.0 and 0.7.0 branches. I wrote most of the db code yesterday and today, and I am running it for the first time now. Let's see how many stack traces I find in the log tomorrow morning. Hope to have it ready for release by the end of the week.

wow, that's good news Smiley Thank you for your efforts Smiley!

Why is that good news?

We would be a bunch of idiots if we just blindly believe and have faith in something with little intel to go on.

Isn't that what the stakeholders did.  Wink

At the price they had to pay the potential profit was more than enough to justify investing.

I would say the exact same thing right now.

It's really that simple.

Genesis account passphrase is known to everyone. BCNext can't say anything officially anymore.

Well you talk of his plans as if they are the official plan for NXT, so he can definitely speak from that POV.
"Official" is just a label. yes NXT is supposed to be 100% decentralized and we are going to have to make it so, but you cannot deny that currently this community is still LARGELY dependent on BCNext and yourself.

I am simply trying to fix this before you leave, because if this shit isn't resorted and the community finds a common plan, then this will just be one big mess

100% agree with Uniqueorn!!
Also how can a decentralized project be done in a centralized 1 threat forum post!
This is getting out of control and it becomes very vulnerable of collapsing.

Then start a new thread, be proactive about it.  We have a lot going on outside of this massive beast of a thread.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 04, 2014, 05:02:47 PM
Also CfB is gone in 2 months, if by then we haven't managed to quench all of this and become a unified community, well.... that wont be pretty

I say it one more time: CfB is NOT disappearing magically in april.

I know, I have his assurance on this, but he stops being a developer then and starts working on his own currency, Qubic. At least that is what he has said up until now, so his heart and soul wont be dedicated to NXT. He simply wont have as much time anymore.
So in that sense he is "gone" from his position in NXT in 2 months and that is the way it should be. This community shouldn't be reliant on any single person and that is what all of this is about. I want to bring the community closer together toward common goals and I think that in order to do so we need to get rid of this mystical secrecy BS that perpeptually sticks around.

I understand your concerns, but what will full transparency solve?  BCNext is anonymous for a reason, he only communicates through CFB because if he didn't, he'd have about 1000PM's a day to answer.  Dan has this problem with eMu and it consistently delays his development of the client.  We are not Doge, we don't have that sense of humor and we shouldn't try to emulate them.  If we try we will come across as immature.  We are the true next gen currency and should rely on our tech.  I for one have been very impressed with the ideas of BCNext and encourage that he stay focused on development, not worry about pleasing those that don't have faith.
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 04, 2014, 04:26:45 PM
it is hurting NXT no matter what.
it is hurting current price of 1 NXT no matter what.
Fixed.
translation:
"It helps the wide and easy distribution"

Smiley Yes. BCNext doesn't care about the price.

This is trivializing my question and misinterpreting my statements.
I said it hurts NXT, not the price, but NXT itself.

I would think BCNext too would have the insight to understand that having a common goal to work towards is healthy for the community, but perhaps he is truly that bad at reading people and markets. I don't know, I don't know anything about him really.

All I know is that YOU CfB talk about his upcoming plans as if they will change and make sense of everything and then when someone is even a tadbit critical, you get all defensive and accuse others of relying on BCNext. That is just wrong in my opinion.

Again: all I want is more info so we can collaborate as a unified community towards a common goal. Why you keep mentioning the price of 1 NXT is beyond me.

What specific info do you want?  I believe CFB has been pretty straight forward about what is being implemented in the future.  We have several features and more on the way, things take time to develop.

A big thank you to the donor of 2000 NXT to my website and social networking account.! It's definitely a morale booster and I appreciate it very much!

Can you disclose the total amount of donations, this would help in figuring out how much to delegate.

is this appropriate?  private donations should not be required to be delegated

I think you misunderstood.  I wanted to know how much QBTC received in donations just to figure out how much more we should give.  I donated 25k to her a month ago for example.

Lakshmi project is postponed for the time being. Yulkisa has some problems related to legality of her site, so she can't take part in Lakshmi development right now.

Bummer
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM ALERT] ***********EMUNIE - CAUTION ADVISED************* on: January 31, 2014, 10:44:51 PM
I am not so stupid after all.

Emunie ltd. Or the total capitulation with the governments and laws, the complete surrender. (ripple all over) centralized as hell with only one dictator CEO Dan Hughes.

Like I said they should ban fusseleer for life. He lied from day one more than a year now to dedicated helpers and beta testers that were by his side day in day out, now he stabbing them a knife in the back by solely listing emunie as a company, no need to say all the consequences that come with that.

Dan Hughes in his eyes everyone and everything that don’t share his opinion is retarded looking down on average people, arrogance itself.
I hope for all them who dedicated one year of their life to test and help developing emunie that Hughes gets what he deserves (karma is a bitch you know).

I am also disappointed that emunie is a company now.  I know there will be arguments that it's still decentralization, but it worries that the company will be under government restrictions, I would prefer complete anonymity.

Why pick expensive materials?

Why not more commonly used and more useful materials?

Carbon steel for example. Steel is also very recyclable.

+1, we need to represent working man's currency!
