And it is also workin on mobile, although not looking too good, yet.

Very nice job!! I would love to send some Nxt, but I am on mobile. I could send btc via blockchain, or fiat via paypal. There is a lon way to go for Nxt, but it looks promising!

mcjavar, this is still in testnet, so you can ask for testnxt here and try out the web client, do not use your real passphrase with the site.

@msin
You are organizational type, yes? Maybe you could manage automated gateway project? I want to add NXTcash to gateway instead of coordinating all the stuff from my post above.

James

Sure, I can help manage if you need me to.  In regards to server operators, what do you think about three separate hosted servers that one person can admin until code is released, assuming we will be on testnet.  Perhaps abctc.  Here is my suggestions for others:

I need web html person to make web interface for gateway
- Wesleyh

I also need somebody to write code for the equivalent of blockchain explorer, basically gateway transaction explorer.
- Nexern

I also would like to have somebody refactor the code.
- Zahlen

Probably the most important, I need to hire Evil Bob.  - Jesse James or CIYAM

New version of my Nxt client online at http://nxtra.org/nxt-client/

Really great work wesleyh!  Have you tested on 0.8.3?

Community, what do you want me to add to mynxt.org - resources?

Under your "features" page you don't list Alias, Arbitrary Messaging, or Colored Coins (AE).  Furthermore, I would like to see any tools or websites linked that allow you to register an Alias or view Messages.  We seem to neglect those features and they can be great selling points.  It's difficult to find any sites that allow me to view my messages based on my account # or register an alias and elect URI.

Edit; Or just link clients that allow you to view your messages, alias, and Colored coins.
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 28, 2014, 04:56:17 PM
The two top 50M accounts!! What is their deal? Why are they not sharing their wealth or participating in the progress of their investment. I mean if we consider that the account No. 3 and No. 4 are DGEX and BTER that means they have almost double amount of coins compared to account No. 5 which has about 29M. That is a huge difference. Honestly I would be really ashamed if I was them and I am sure these two 50M amounts are poke in the eye to any new investor that looks our distribution just like they are poking my eye.

Heck, to start at least get your accounts under 50M so they are in the 40s or divide this 50M into two accounts of 25M, it will definitely look better for newcomers.
I really don't understand this!!

guys, come on... these accounts belonging to exchanges are deposits that people in this very forums have sent to these exchanges, and the exchange is holding them for people just like you and me (assuming we are users of the exchange).  They very well CANNOT just gank the funds and start giving them out to other people.

now some of those very large accounts *are not* exchanges; just single people who are perfectly content to let others do all the heavy lifting.  Some of them are people who are helping out, paying bounties, etc.

nothing really we can do.

On that note, it could be beneficial for the the blockchain admins to add an * by each account that is held by an exchange on the "Top Accounts" section of blockchain explorer.  That way a newcomer could see that those specific accounts are not held by an individual.

Hey I have a question with transaction malleability.  From the NXT Wiki:
Quote
Transaction malleability is an issue with Nxt, as it is with all cryptocurrencies. Do not rely on a transaction ID alone to verify transactions!
...  So if an exchange should not rely on just looking for a transactionID, what is the proper method?  Do they have to attempt to track sendingAccountID, receivingAccountId, and amount?
- there was the CfB's answer:
It's a problem only for exchanges that rely solely on transaction id. It doesn't need to be fixed. An exchange is supposed to pay attention to timestamp and other parameters of a transaction.
what parameters ,except timestamp?
Amount or ReferencedTransaction.

Can someone describe to me a practical method to use referencedTransaction for the purposes of exchanges tracking things?  Im going to add more into the exchanges page on Wiki and this will be helpful. But...

Why not be pragmatic here and fix the malleability issue in the NXT protocol?  Would be a nice feather in NXT's cap and would make things much easier for adoption for all the new systems we *want* to come to NXT in the *first* place.  IMO this could be something that allows faster adoption.

People this thread is giving me headhache and we are losing a ton of time reading thing and searching the subject that we are interesting, we need really to move to a forum with nice functionnality.

Also, I lost my password to my user account at https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/ and it seem that there is no way to recover it. I have contact twice the official forum e-mail. I did not get any answer for since 11 feb. It look like the https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/ is dead.

Any help?

btc24@bitcointalk is adminius@forums.nxtcrypto, the admin of those forums.  I dont think hes been online in a month.  I have been trying to give him some bounty from neer.g but he seems to have completely disappeared.  that being said, i know hes been asked by tons of people to allow password resets by email, but so far hasnt budged.

that being said, if the community as a whole wants to get yet another forums site up and running and volunteer admined then I suppose that can be done.  And if indeed btc24 has been hit by a bus then I guess eventually the forums will break or miss payment and get shut downl i could then change DNS to the new forums if necessary.

or whatever the community as a whole agrees on I will change DNS

We could help Bitventurer develop Nxt.org

It would be nice if someone can setup a zeronet, testnet for NXTcash alpha. We have made internal release, but it seem that we need an alternate zeronet setup.

Rather than go breadth first for a lot of things that in flux, I think it would be better to go depth first. Concentrate on automated multisig gateway. We get the most bang for the buck, so to speak. Simply by adding support to a new bitcoind fork, we open up an entirely new segment of people. once we get a couple dozen coins supported, we will have one of the largest crypto exchanges (centralized or decentralized)

As soon as I hand off the automated gateway, I plan on adding a NXTcash gateway. It wont have the full support of the zeronet version, but it will still be useful and we can launch it without waiting for zerocash or even porting to Java as we can run it in the gateway layer.

In the short term, I will need DOGE testers, and the community should select the three most trustworthy and independent server operators to host the multisig gateway.

After I cant find any more bugs, we need to get the gateway code thoroughly reviewed. No complicated crypto, just plain C code review.

If someone can take care of the logistics, that would let me spend more time on coding

James

Can we help James get this done?

I can set up and maintain testnet servers and keep the ZC testnet version of NRS running. I would start with one or two servers.

I am not into DOGE at all, so probably I'm not the right one for running a gateway.

Great, please PM James, now we need some Doge volunteers to test DAC.

Are you going to implement this into the AE or offer it as a for profit service? It sounds like it may be a potential salable financial product.
It is built on top of AE, so it is not part of the NXT core itself. I would like this to become the NXT community's gateway and be integrated into some of the existing high capacity NXT nodes. As a community gateway, it should be run as a non-profit, so only fees would be to cover transaction costs. Since the gateway code is not server intensive at all, it wont require much of the server capacity. Running bitcoind is the most intense usage of the gateway. Maybe if a dozen bitcoind forks are running at the same time, eventually disk usage could become an issue.

After I get the gateway code debugged, I expect there will be three of the server guys here who will run the gateway code. My time is much better spent coming up with crazy new ideas and seeing if I can get them implemented. I shouldnt be spending my time running day to day operations of a gateway. No matter how much things are automated, we are talking real money here and there will be times where manual intervention is needed.

James

Agreed, I would like to see a list of projects you are working on if possible, or plan to work on after DAC.  I know DAC and Nxtcash (mixing) but not sure if there is others we will be aware of.  If you deliver, I can see you getting a good chunk of unclaimed.  Also, would be great if you could list resources that would be needed with each project, such as servers, testers, programmers, etc. So we can be proactive.  Great work so far.

Hey guys,

I am one of the admins of AltCoins Market. It's a new website about cryptocoins where you can see instantly all the information about your coins. We want to add NxT to our website but we need a blockchain where I can get the total coins mined (forged in this case) so we can calculate the market cap and the USD value. Do you know any site where I could get it using json? It would be nice to have it.

Thank you in advance and I hope you like AltCoins Market!

Hello tyme,

All the NXT coins that will ever be created are in existence right now (and have been since the network launced). That number is 999,997,104 NXT coins (from here http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=1739068987193023818).

Regards,
Al

Thank you very much Al, appreciated. I think we will add it before this week ends.

Best, tyme.

Thanks tyme, I'll check it out.

Well this is progress. An actual answer & link to some documentation instead of a wave of the hand and a bow to the almighty. I will definitely read it. Thanks.

I stated an obvious thing. Didn't expect that u need a lesson coz 99% of ppl here know what Ripple is.

Well Ripple is obviously flouting some law of physics that can't be breached, or is lying that they are planning to become decentralized.
I've been asking this question about ripple for a while now in different forums and you are the first person to offer an answer that I can chew on.

& I wasn't trying to be a jerk. I just figured that's the way y'all talk to each other from reading these threads and I'm just trying to fit in.

Well, when reading your post, you are definitely coming across as a jerk.  Talk to people here like you would talk to them face to face.  Focus on productivity, your ideas, contributing to the community, that is the best way to fit in.  And never say y'all again.  Cheesy
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nxt :: Automated Transactions (AT) - progress and discussion on: February 27, 2014, 08:28:36 PM
This scheme dont need reputation or trustness. If automate this in nxt-protocol then we dont need third-party as nasx.com for exchange.

Nice - I think we could indeed create an AT to do this. Because the code is open and unable to be changed after the AT creation tx is confirmed then it can actually be "trusted" to do things like this.

The tricky part is going to be able to make sure that people know a trustworthy AT from an "evil" AT (that requires being able to understand the code which is why that code needs to be as simple as possible).

+1, I like the nashx approach.  Also, really like the idea of posting Nxt projects on your site, I have BTC saved for it!

Dear God, reading these last 20 pages makes my head spin.  I understand why some are frustrated with ambiguity and lack of communication, but you need to relax and be proactive!  Much of the mystery from BCNext is attributed to the fact that he is still developing (programming) features.  It is his right to stay anonymous. We will have a committee for unreleased funds in a couple days.  I suggest that this committee also act on behalf of Nxt as our centralized "get shit done" group.  These members will be the face of Nxt.  I also suggest every committee member receive the option of 25k Nxt from unclaimed for their work.

In regards to a NXT "CTO" to continue development come April, my first suggestion would be JL (has anyone asked him?)  I also suggest we take CIYAM up on his offer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5403299#msg5403299), I'm willing to invest BTC in this.  CFB has offered free help to create coin on top of Nxt, anyone who is thinking about this should contact him asap.

Zahlen, please reconsider a place on the Technical Committee, I think you are overestimating the time you will need and you will be a great asset.

James, you are doing awesome work, please keep it up.

CFB, can we arrange a forging math algo audit?

{end of EvilDave style post}

PS, I have a Nxt crypto audit underway, more details to follow.

Please, please dont start to pay members of the committees!

Yes, I see that can be a conflict of interest, just a suggestions.

well said NxtMinnow. came to the same conclusion. following ethereum also from beginning and there are some nice ideas but mostly as concept/ideas,
nxt is here and now, no reason to overestimate ethereum. Q4 2014 is planned to launch but i guess we won't see them before Q1 2015. ethereum is also
more gearing into financial api, mostly usefull for old school finance, therefore the big interest from this side but nxt is far more people/user orientated.
nxt will have all they want fully operational before they launch thier basic structure.

Speaking of, how is your client coming along?

Nevermind, found it here, we really need to update this on wiki and OP for newer versions.

Has there been any thought or moves to marketing directly to groups that may benefit from using NXT? i.e. Trade Unions, Chambers of Commerce maybe Small or local government bodies? This type of marketing would be fairly cheap; Only involving time and not much $ to get rolling on. NXT could be made to seem very appealing to these types of organizations if presented in the right way.

I think we would lose all credibility if we were being used by local government bodies.

I was thinking not in terms of direct use of the NXT currency, but by use of the asset exchange. Trade unions, and government bodies can by means of contract or legislation create demand for assets that they could generate on the AE. For example a union could negotiate into their contract that a portion of their pension be funded with an asset that they create, and any signatory contractor that employed any of that unions workers would be bound to invest in that asset. This would benefit the unions in the same way that the original block genesis of NXT benefited the stake holders. They would have control of the assets availability and thus the value of the asset. The contractor would not be at a disadvantage as they would have to pay the same amount out for the pension wether it were paid in FED. RESERVE notes or cryptos. The holders of the asset would gain from the increase in value of the asset as it were sold on the market, and could generate the asset for free and have control over its availability. It could work in a similar way for any body that could leverage a demand through contract or legislation. They wouldn't be endorsing the NXT currency directly, but would be forced to participate to a certain degree to use the AE. These types of groups may be easy to influence as they stand to profit with very little investment and could have direct control over the asset.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I see that, I like the ideas nonetheless.

Wow, what a waste of Nxt.
