2841  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you ready to spend crypto when market is down on: October 06, 2022, 09:24:44 AM
If one doesn't spend their crypto for purchases and wait for to spend their crypto when its price is nice, are they really considering it as a cryptocurrency or can we assume like those people are treating more like a security or investment instrument?
Beauty of Bitcoin is that everyone can use it as he pleases, there are no rules or rights/wrongs, even though I do think that all bitcoiners should pay with bitcoin when they can. It doesn't have to be a big amount or even often, but if every now and then you have a chance to pay something directly with bitcoin that costs like $10-$20, why not?

I personally spend crypto on the regular basis, no matter the price and I stopped looking back at how much my bitcoin would worth if I didn't spend. With that being said, I do spend more when bitcoin is worth more (for example I sold some bitcoin when price was $50k+ and fully renovated my apartment) and at the moment I am only spending bitcoin when its convenient and for nothing major like that.
2842  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Give me a minute of your time on: October 06, 2022, 08:57:19 AM
I have some USDT that I plan to use to buy coins probably when BTC is down to 10k which I believed would happened in September but it never did so I moved the USDT out of the exchange back into my wallet.
While its definitely good idea to move USDT out of exchange and into your own non-custodial (I hope) wallet, your money is still not completely safe. I don't know if you area ware of the fact that USDT can be frozen by their issuer inside your own wallet and there would be nothing that you could do about it.

Chances of that happening anytime soon are not great, but they exist and as you said in your post that no exchange is too big to fail, the very same goes for stablecoins so I would advise you not to hold them for too long.
2843  Economy / Economics / Re: At last, Twitter wins the battle!! on: October 06, 2022, 07:25:52 AM
So I am a little disappointed that deal is now called off. We probably would have seen a very different Twitter if Elon could become the owner of Twitter.

But no worries! Better luck next time!
I think that you might have misunderstood what OP wrote, or you wrote your comment based on the title which can be misleading. So, situation is quite the opposite and few days ago Elon changed his decision (yet again) and this time he decided to go through with Twitter takeover. If I am you  I wouldn't celebrate just yet as knowing Elon and his tendency to change opinion, there is still chance that this deal doesn't happen.

I think he was mainly responsible for the dump from 58k to 41k because at that exact moment Musk posted his rant about bitcoin using too much energy and told the world that Tesla wouldn't accept it unless it's green...
If he was responsible for dump from 59k to 41k, was he also responsible for pump before that? While he certainly affected BTC price at the beginning of his interaction with Bitcoin, I don't think that he had that much of a power over bitcoin price.
2844  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: October 05, 2022, 06:10:23 PM
He Translated an article from english to arabic with google translate, even that he mentioned the source still i think he should get a warning at least
According to bitcointalk practice, its not plagiarism as long as you share the source link, even if you do direct copy/paste without including nothing of your own.

By the way, you are free to report his post as low value if he just copied something without leaving comment of his own. I did that more than once and it was removed in some cases.
2845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to Our Bitcoin and Other Assets If We Die? on: October 05, 2022, 05:56:42 PM
I think we should at least make backup  file and should transfer in Bank Safe so that when they receive than they know how to retrieve it.
Maybe its just me, but tt feels kinda weird to store my crypto backup in bank. With that being said, I do have contingency plan set and people that are very close to me are explained what to do in case something happens to me. I don't have millions (at least not yet  Grin), but it would be a shame to go to waste.

Bitcoins, for once more, have the advantage to be signed as inheritance, without revealing the private keys / location. See Using Locktime for inheritance planning, backups or gifts.
Huh, definitely a good solution if you are extra paranoid/careful, or if you don't have anyone that you trust enough with something like this. Even though I doubt I'll ever use it (at least not for inheritance but I might for the gift), will check it out. Thnx for sharing.
2846  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper can easily get ruined, fast. on: October 05, 2022, 05:23:04 PM
What I meant is that, since I have my crypto wallet address on my phone, I can still get the seed phrase from there. I haven't for once stored my recovery seed phrase on my phone. That's what am trying to explain
Ah, I understand now, as the way you put it it looked like you are keeping seed on your mobile phone. Still, I do hope that your mobile wallet is not your main one as those are far from being secure for long term hodl. They are good enough (if you are using open-source non custodial one) for a sort of hot wallet store where you keep crypto for every day use, but if I am you I would consider getting one of the hardware wallets as you can find good ones for less than $100.

2847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper can easily get ruined, fast. on: October 05, 2022, 11:02:13 AM
I have for once, think about such a scenario. What gives me the courage not to worry or think about it much was that I will still have my phone to fall back on to recover my seed phrases, if a peradventure happens. There is no way I can lose my phone and the paper I wrote down my recovery seed phrases will get burnt in natural disasters at the same time. I will either have one with me. Which is my phone
There is no way that you can lose your phone? LOL.  Saving seed on your phone is one of the worst places possible to store something as sensitive as seed is. Not only that you can lose the phone, someone can steal it as well, or your phone may suddenly stop working without you being able to switch it on ever again (something like that happened to me despite it being relatively new Samsung flagship model). So no, you are not well prepared at all.

My advice for you is to delete the seed from your phone asap and instead save a copy at your parent's house, or whoever you can trust with something like that.
2848  Economy / Economics / Re: We should separate the markets for Bitcoin* and centralized altcoins on: October 05, 2022, 09:41:32 AM
Exchanges and informational websites should help users to be able to separate the markets between Bitcoin and Bitcoin-style decentralized currencies, and centralized altcoins or tokens. So the users can actually know which kind of asset they are trading, and are not forced into thinking that "all coins are the same thing".
The thing is, I don't think that an average user actually cares whether some cryptocurrency is centralized or not, so I don't think those such websites will care about implementing differentiation either. And especially if that will mean less traffic from them.

At the very least they should be transparent about any significant** premine that happened. Coinmarketcap did this until 2016 or 2017 (I'm not sure about the exact date) but then decided to mix everything together. Among alternative sites of the same kind, neither Coingecko nor Coinpaprika seem to have such a categorization.
Yep, that's one of the info I would like to see as people are unaware of that, even for some of the most popular cryptocurrencies like Ethereum. More than once I met Ethereum fan not knowing that 70% of its supply has been premined. Then again, even when they found about it they didn't really care about it as long as number goes up.

2849  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can I know That How much earnings Can be generated Through Signature? on: October 05, 2022, 07:57:45 AM
Thanks for encouraging me cause I am new to cryptocurrency and I want to get help from bitcointalk because it is one of the best Discussion platform that I can find from this platform. I want to get knowledge from this platform too.
Let's be honest here: you didn't come to bitcointalk for knowledge but for money. I mean, Newbie account that wrote his first post a couple of days ago already asking how much can he earn from signature campaigns. And to add on that, your very first post on the forum was one one of those "proof of authentication posts" in altcoin bounty section.

I may be wrong in your case (even though I doubt it), but that is not a behavior of a legit newbie account and instead of someone who already has some experience here and probably has a couple of accounts doing in bounty campaigns.

2850  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What will be the future of Binance till 2025? on: October 05, 2022, 07:31:26 AM
Let me check my crystal ball and I'll get back to you. Tongue

Joke aside, no one can know what will happen with Binance till 2025, considering all the regulations, the fact that exchanges don't usually stay at the top for too long and hat no exchange or platform is too big to fall. Even though Binance may looks invincible at the moment (like many in the past)  keep in mind that they have  around for only ~5 years which is not a long time at all, and as we know by know things can go south pretty fast. So no, I wouldn't trust therm with my money (at least not for the longer period of time).
2851  Other / Meta / Re: Frequent 400 Bad Request errors on: October 04, 2022, 04:14:24 PM
I am using Firefox as well and had no issues whatsoever in the last couple of days (or even weeks for that matter).
2852  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A New way to scam People || Be aware and don't fall for it. on: October 03, 2022, 08:21:02 AM
Pretty bad scam attempt and definitely not new. Better ones at least pretend that they are from some government agency so people get more intimidated, while these guys didn't even bother to do that. Another "interesting" thing is that they ask for 1.8 BTC, and its non negotiable they say, so no wonder that so far they didn't receive anything on that bitcoin address that they shared. If they only went for some smaller amount, maybe someone would actually send some money.

All in all, an amateur hour.
2853  Economy / Exchanges / Re: I'm being scammed on foxexchange-bit? on: October 03, 2022, 08:13:54 AM
I got to know this site trough a friend who i have being talking some months now, so i trusted their recommendation. I thought it was a scam when they stalled after the taxes.
Thank you for the reply.
Is that friend maybe "female" and did that "friend" contact you through one of the social media networks, or even through platforms like Tinder? I am asking because this is the common M.O of those who use sites like you mentioned. Some of them are very patient and play long game, pretending that they are interested in you, and after some time they switch conversation to "excellent investment opportunity".

Thank you, I got tricked so I'll be more cautious and will check before any exchange. I'll report the site, so hopefully no more victims there.
Rule of thumb: anyone contacting you offering great profit= scam. Trust no one.
2854  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Email for Binance support on: October 02, 2022, 07:00:06 PM
But if the service is banned in your country, then why do you insist on using it?
There are so many other alternatives
He failed to mention it in this topic (he did mention it in another one), but he has some coins stuck there and now can't access it.

One can still access their accounts and even be able to make a withdrawal even if their country is restricted. What is not possible is making a deposit, trading, among other things. Just set up a VPN to any location in the US and try accessing your account
Problem is that ban happened more than a year ago and OP just realized it now so I am not so sure that procedure is so easy. And yeah, he should definitely try accessing it using VPN, but not with US server of course.
2855  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: poland guy needed to connect to account on: October 02, 2022, 10:13:58 AM
well i used polish  ip  from expressvpn and they found out eitherway     (i rent a pc in datacenter  in poland)   and connect with my pc to this  data center pc through rdc
No surprise that ExpressVPN IP has been flagged by that gambling site since its a very popular VPN, used by many people. Iirc (haven't used ExpressVPN for some time) they don't even have a large amount of Polish servers so that's another reason why its so easy to for a gambling site to track those.

but for this to happen someone needs to contact me offcourse
The biggest obstacle for that to happen is your trust score and reputation (or lack of) so I am not too optimistic about that.

Imamo bitnijih stvari… krece generalno sranje #2 uskoro.

2857  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: poland guy needed to connect to account on: October 01, 2022, 09:11:15 PM
don't know why i would need to mention site here if you contact me  i will tell you what site it is
You don't have to, but your request would look less suspicious if you are more transparent about what you actually need, especially considering your trust feedback. At the moment it simply looks dodgy to me, and judging by other comments I am not the only one who has that opinion.

Btw, you might have more luck asking in Polish local board.
2858  Other / Meta / Re: How to get a Rank promoted Can? on: October 01, 2022, 08:39:59 PM
You don't need a higher rank.  You're doing just fine right where you're at.
And thanks to the merit system he probably won't move far from a newbie rank.

So sir what a beautiful advice you have given me which gives me a hope for the next life. Your advice has made me feel more confident about this forum. I want to do better by getting your advice which is a legend like you I hope.
I read the posts of legends like you very carefully which will help me a lot in later life. You are the real hero of this forum.
Buddy, stop sucking up others as that kind of behavior won't bring you any merit and you might even end up on ignore list if you continue. Just stop thinking about ranks & merit, focus on learning and communicate with others in a normal fashion.
2859  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: October 01, 2022, 02:38:58 PM
...  it's good to have someone from my fellow Filipino to apply as a merit source but I think it's hard to find 10 quality thread from my local because as of now only few quality threads created a few months ago.
Merit source application requirement is not to find 10 quality thread, but to find 10 posts that according to applicant didn't receive enough merit, and there is a big difference between post and a thread. If you actually meant post, and if no one on your board can't find 10 undermerited posts in the last few months, then I guess that you don't really need more merit.

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.
2860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Terra cofounder Do Kwon is the one who is pumping Bitcoin on: October 01, 2022, 01:37:50 PM
I don't think he's involved in any projects, he ran away means he no longer has the right to run them.
Since when moving to other country means that you no longer have the right to run a project/company? AFAIK, Do Kwon hasn't resigned yet (unlike Mashinsky who resigned a few days ago) and is still CEO of Terraform Labs, meaning he is still running Terra. Since an average crypto investor has memory of a gold fish, I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't reemerges with something new in the future.

I read a lot of news regarding Luna's death, including that he and Luna's old team cleaned out their office and sold their property 2 days before luna started to fall, if that news is true then he is the mastermind behind it all. Recently there was also news that he transferred 3,300 BTC to 2 exchanges to continue dispersing assets. When luna crashed, they announced that they used all the btc they had to save UST and now where do they get 3,300btc to sell. What a surprise.
I didn't hear about that rumor, but of course people at the top knew what is eventually going to happen and that they are not able to "repeg" their failed stablecoin once shit hit the fan.
