301  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB][CAN] 4-Pin Molex Extensions on: August 17, 2016, 12:21:27 AM
I been shopping, i can find these which is like 2 of them in 1 for 33cents each, but i can't find just a molex to a single molex (M-F). Anyone has a bunch laying around or know where to get what i want? lol

Example of Y splitter;

But i just want M-F

303  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S7 Ambient Heat Temp on Exhaust? on: August 15, 2016, 01:47:21 AM
Does anyone have any real data on the ambient heat temperature from the exhaust of an S7?  I would guess that if the 3 boards were all hashing at 60c, then the maximum ambient exhaust would be 60c, however I would think the pull fan would cool the air moving through the miner?

1) I am trying to figure out what the ambient room temperature will be if I leave 2 S7's in my office running for a few days and can it trigger the sprinkler system; and

2) Does anyone have a temp gun that could collect the exhaust temps?

Any real data would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Exhaust is always lower. Otherwise it wouldnt transfer any heat. The air goes strait through. Miner at 75C does not mean ambiant to 75C. Anyways, just point their exhaust strait to outdoor and you're good to go.

But for the sound, i dont really think you can run S7's in an office if there are people there. Imagine having a blowhorn in your ear all day, thats about it.
304  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS MSI AIO (Gaming 24T 6QE) on: August 15, 2016, 01:44:18 AM
alright, Crowetic, thx for taking a look! Wink

hopefully with some hustle and "getting by with my friends" i wont need to sell it before someone makes the offer! Wink

Can you pawn it to a friend? I'm also only interested in GPU and some specific mining gear.

What is the average life of a stock s5 fan in medium ambient?

Either it dies because its crap at a random point in time, or it outlast its usefulness by far. I still have some Antminer S1's that work just fine.

Right now i'd be inclined to sell up to 6 R9 370 4GB for 190CDN/ea. With 3 years warranty from MSI and original packaging...it sound like a bargain to me.

https://www.amazon.ca/MSI-R7-370-4G-Graphics/dp/B00ZGF11YS/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471215219&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=r9+370+4g

I'd sell the 280s etc cheaper, but i dont have a pure set of 6 to sell.

I am in the same boat as you. I wanted to sell some off to buy some of the 470 which are twice as efficient and I can have more GPUs.

I haven't had much luck selling mine locally on Craigslist. It seems the only buyers are miners and they don't want to pay anymore than $100CAD for a 7950/7970/280x.

100CDN... at that price i'd be inclined to buy them myself lol
If people arent too interested, thats fine too. Maybe the 370 are still recent enough to be resold, maybe i'll just keep them, we'll see.

I haven't been paying much attention to the Marketplace lately so any comment is welcome. Right now with the summer heat, its hard to expand. So i'm considering selling off less power efficient//performant GPUs // a whole rig to make room at intervals.

Right now everything is undervolted and i still get near full/better hashrate with undervolted/custom Bios, so i'm looking for alternative to be considered when i decide to buy a new rig. (If replacing is worth the hassle over expanding and adding more fans.) Someone to offload in Canada when i'm ready to sell off a set of 6 GPUs might be nice.

Seem i can get 160W~ on 280 and 180W~ on 280x, 110W~ on 370 4G (But the 2G seem to hash faster o.o;) Maybe i could even sell off a 290 or a 390 to a gamer.

In term of amounts, i got two dozen or so GPU i'd consider selling off in the near future.

Anyways, comment/ignore at your leisure. I could probably Undervolt them further if hard capacity is truly reached, but maybe this is the better way. Smiley
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I use this laptop for mining? on: August 11, 2016, 04:38:39 AM
Good specs but mining in cpu or gpu are no longer available to mine in bitcoin..
The only thing that i can suggest to your to mine right now is altcoin with your good specs of computer you can use your CPU to mine altcoin like ethereum..
Bitcoin right now are using asic like antminer s7 or s9.. that you can buy in antminer.. more powerful than your cpu..

i can mine ethereum? thats great
how much can i expect to mine per month?

Utter crap, and you could damage your laptop. Never mine with a laptop, its underpowered cpu mean low performance. Laptops are very bad for mining and you will just run it max heat 24/7 for dust.

Latest ethminers dropped support for CPU mining as well.

You'd need a GPU at least, and it would still be bad.
310  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITMAIN REFUSE TO REPAIR FAULTY S9 - DOA on: August 05, 2016, 11:26:50 PM
You may have used words that made them think the board is broken in half or such. But this sound like typical Bitmain. If it work, good, if it doesnt, you're fucked either way.

They're slow and generally incompetent to help fix your issues. If they do accept, it take forever and cost a lot of money to chip back there. If you're lucky they wont forget to send all parts back after they're done.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need a rx480 recomendation on: August 05, 2016, 05:59:36 PM
Ok, I'm trying to find info about ASUS, but dualbios is not added in its webpages. However,  I found some pages... I think a mistake  Roll Eyes :

http://www.2moroit.co.nz/product-asus_rx480_8gb_radeon_rx_480_8gb_gddr5_graphics_card_vr_ready-17578
https://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/ASUS-AMD-Radeon-RX-480-8GB-Graphics-Card/25290249

I think they are wrong, but I don't know...

Ref stand for "Reference" (board) its all the same.

You will need to look into rx 480 nitro. A non ref GPU.
312  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: how to use evga 1600 power cable 3-pin in my contry on: August 01, 2016, 11:02:04 PM
cable like that will be fine ?
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00Y5U28S8/

Yes they both say 16amps. They might get a bit warm if you run the PSU on 120v at full load however.
313  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: how to use evga 1600 power cable 3-pin in my contry on: August 01, 2016, 01:24:33 PM
Eeeek no. I don't know the amperage support on these things, i don't see it on that page, its probably low and i would expect the adapter to melt.

You need to get a heavy gauge cable with the plug you need C19 to whatever your plug is at home. Or an adapter rated 18AMP for 110-125V if you're on 125V.
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 480 x mining rig ether on: July 29, 2016, 08:02:50 AM
i think that the celeron might be cpu limited, if someone else tried with another cpu for this build would be useful to know if there is some cpu limit with it

While mining my CPU load is a few % on the 1840. Its not really used. Though Windows can be quite a hog for no reason.

Hello Guys ^^,

i am new in BTC Mining world, i've really some important questions by them i will decide what will i do next Cheesy

Now my Budget is about 3000-4000$

- what type of miners do u recommend for me!
- why exactly ?
- is the Mining process is really profitable !
- are the miners need any other equipments to work !
- what the best space for holding them !
- My electricity price is " 0.1$ for each kilowatt "
- any other advises for a Beginner like me  ? Cheesy
You have a pretty good sized budget, I too recommend S9s. However, you probably won't get very much at all with electricity costs that high. S9s are currently the most efficient miners out there as of now, but they're pretty hard to come by these days as Bitmain has sold out all the current batches.

Most people have very cheap electricity (under .05$/kWh), so there's lots of competition. Besides AC, there's really nothing else you need for mining. The best spaces to hold miners are in basements and areas that generally stay cool.

They're top of the line for a while, since technological limits are causing slow downs in ASIC progress, but 0.1$/kWh is pretty bad for mining, OP would do better hosting in any number of trusted data centers.

Personally i'd probably make a contract with Allinvain if i absolutely wanted to go to ASIC way.

ETC mining is very profitable at the moment. But you have to sell it quick. The price is very volatile.

There are many DDoS on the ETC and ETH pools. Can anybody recommend a pool that has good protection?

www.ethteam.com
Stratum: etc.ethteam.com:8008

Small pool and Stratum Server runs on an other machine than Website.

I would mine ETH and use ethminer or ethpool. My personal favorites. (Run by the same guy)

Profitability with ETC sort of balanced out;
https://minergate.com/calculator/ethereum

And i've had numerous problems on the current ETC pools. (Share loss, underpaid, etcetc)

I mined ETC before. It was more profitable to mine at the time. But when you send the ETC to exchange, the price is lower.

Yeah exactly the pools take forever to payout AND personally i should of gotten like 50 ETC but got like 22. So the day ended short for two reasons.
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 480 x mining rig ether on: July 28, 2016, 05:14:20 PM
For the software, i'd keep an eye on EthOS release for 480 support in mid august. Otherwise i guess Windows is the only way to go?

Nice rig anyhow, 8gb is probably pure overkill for mining, those risers are what i use purely and recommend, they are great... unless you hit a bad batch from some crapper reseller (i get mine from aliexpress), good luck Smiley

Interested to see how the ethOS team deals with the new drivers. According to this link ( http://www.pcworld.com/article/3090213/linux/amd-catches-up-its-new-linux-graphics-driver-already-supports-the-radeon-rx-480.html ) there are Linux drivers currently available, but with a couple of issues. The new driver only works on Linux 16.04 and only support newer cards like the AMD Radeon RX 480, R9 Fury X, R9 Fury, R9 Nano, R9 M395X, R9 380X, R9 380. So since two driver versions can't be ran at the same time, if I'm remembering correctly, we may be looking at a situation were we will have to choose from two ethOS images (pre480 and post480). I'm going to build a Linux 16.04 image to run my cards on in the meantime...

Good look ethOS dev team....Very interested to see what you come up with!

Work is progressing, slow reply here... the big presence of EthOS team is on IRC. Progress into supporting the new drivers (and thus 480s) is under way. Smiley

we made simple ethOS Monitor for checking rigs and GPU's temperature on Android phones. More functions will be added.

Topic, info and download: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1541651.0

Very nice. Smiley

I reiterate my comment about "unless you get a near-literal steal on the price".

I reiterate my comment about "thats just the price they go for on the marketplace atm". Tongue
