1301  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help me troubleshoot my new Antminer S7 on: January 20, 2016, 11:07:46 PM
Hmmm....so you think this is a power issue? I based my system from what I found on the internet. This sucks.

Dunno, if thats the case you should be able to set a lower clock, reboot the thing and then it would work.

Did you ever make a screenshot of your pool config page? I'd like to see it.
1302  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Avalon6 3.5 TH/s miners for sale on: January 20, 2016, 10:56:44 PM
I received the two aforementioned miners in good working condition, along with the controller kit and exactly what i needed cables/adapter wise.
1303  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: January 20, 2016, 01:48:58 PM
Yes all 10 power connectors are plugged in. The control board is connected to all 3 hash boards with the ribbon cables. I unplugged everything and I tested both power supplies. I was getting 12.79V on each connector. Anything else I can do?

Give us a screenshot of the configuration page, the one before the status page. Red LED just means its in an idle / fault mode.

Now that you ask this, i now remember an user that would have the miner not start because he had not configured the pools correctly and left the password field blank.
1304  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Make your old bitcoin hardware profitable again on: January 20, 2016, 01:39:35 PM
Why not to proofing your demonstrate administration here? Like what you said above.
Anyway, the escrow service is necessary for service like this.

Escrow what exactly? OP is asking for miners for free and hashrate would allegedly be shared equally, so he is asking 50%. If OP wanted to or could put a collateral on the miners, then he would not need people to send him miners for free.
1305  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 20, 2016, 04:54:44 AM
EVGA 1300 G2's are perfectly fine with S7's.
I've run Batch 1's, Batch 6's@ 4.5TH with zero issues.
I've also run a few sets of 2x S5's overclocked to 1.25TH each for months with zero issues per EVGA 1300 G2.

Yeah but thats 1220~1300W at the wall. With B8 and B9 S7's, what Bitmain is selling right now, you're looking at 1415~1480W at the wall depending on PSU efficiency. So still fine, but very limit.

The efficiency of those is about 0.3J/GH/s with gold efficiency, versus 0.25J/GH/s of the early S7 batches.
1306  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Want to start a small farm, but all calculator give different result on: January 20, 2016, 04:51:40 AM
Hi,

I have 30k to invest, so i think to build a mining farm.
I selected this hardware :
- ANTMINER S7 * 25 -> 22401 USD
- APW3-12-1600-B2 * 25 -> 3500 USD

Since kWh is a bit high in my country (0.16$), i found that miner hosting can be a good idea. I found 3 interesting offer :
- http://zoomhash.com            -> 0.08$
- https://cryptominer.ca          -> 0.09$
- http://bitcoinasichosting.com -> 0.11$

Then i decided to use different bitcoin calculator to see the "possible" profitability, using the shippest hosting provider (zoomhash)

On coinwarz.com :

On tradeblock.com :

On bitcoinwisdom.com :

coinwarz don't take difficulty increment into account, so i assume the result is almost false.
On tradeblock and 20% difficulty increment, it's not rentable. With 7%, i can use the bitcoin earned + selling the x25 rig to built a new farm with more rig (and repeat the process regulary, adding more and more rig, x25, x35, x50 etc...).
On bitcoinwisdom it's not rentable even with 7% or 20% difficulty increment.

I know bitcoin mining is very difficult and there is a lot of factor involved (ive readed a lot of topic in this section), but it's appear that even with starting a new build rig with 30k and a low kWh price the profit seem impossible, or you need to be very lucky.

What do you think ? Invest or not ? Take into account that i have money, so if i lose 30k it's not the end of the world.

No, 0.08 is too high. It would be high risk.

And tradeblock is asking you how much diff you think it will go up by per month, thats why its different from bitcoinwisdom which ask you what do you think the increment per round will be.

Bitcoinwisdom at 7% is a fair guess at how bad your profit looks, which is very bad. Get a better price on the electricity, or hardware or something. Maybe look whats the hosting cost at hashnest.

If not, things are looking a bit icky with the bitfury stuff and private farms getting super big.
1307  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 20, 2016, 04:42:15 AM
Can you power an antminer s7 off an evga 1300 and a corsair 500 watt psu? I'm thinking the 1300 for the blades and the 500 for the controller. Would this setup work?

Assuming B8 or B9 unless underclocked I don't see running 3 blades off 1300 watt's.  Also I don't think it comes with 9 PCIe cables (could be wrong been a while since I have opened a box to one).

It would be the evga 1600 to run all 3 blades if you want to do it off 1 psu on evga series.  I would look at 220/240 if at all possible and there are some great server PSU's.  They have really taken over S7 market on PSU's being used.

OK, thanks. How about a EVGA 1300 running 2 boards and a CX750 running a board and the controller? Do you think this may work. The reason I ask is because I currently run 7 s3s, a s2 and a s5 on ~4200 watts. (3 evga 1300 and 2 CX750) I want to upgrade to 3 s7s which will put me in about the same wattage but I don't really want to buy too many more PSUs. Think I can make this work?

Might be a bit rough with the B8/B9. The DC draw is 1292W~ so it would be running the 1300 to the max. Doable but a bit inefficient electricity wise. There would be no problem whatsoever with something like the 1300 G2 + seasonic. I did 1050 G2 for 2 and 750 G2 for 1+controller/fan and i got an acceptable borderline 1440W AC. I'm guessing with only a 1300G2 you'd have up to 1480W AC.

This is because i am on 120V 15A breakers, so the 80% load limit is 1440W at the wall.
1308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help me troubleshoot my new Antminer S7 on: January 20, 2016, 02:24:48 AM
Do you mean in powering up? I have turned them on at the same time and then the 2 hash boards on one ps and then the other hash and controller. So you want me to reverse that order?

and thanks for your help

No, you did it right. Regardless you should see the board. It look like cgminer is not starting, this is something that could happen if you bricked the controller by trying to update the firmware.

You'd have to post the log and see why its not starting. But that's a bit over my head so someone else would have to help with figuring out your log, assuming you did not mess with the firmware.
1309  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S5 issues: Loses one board after a week. Need to restart multiple times on: January 20, 2016, 01:37:13 AM
But it can take multiple restarts (kicks in the pants) for it to mine a full rate.  I can't figure out why the one board just bugs out totally.

A lots of boards stop working altogether. You can also set mining software such as MMMonitor to restart the miner if it triggers a low hashrate warning. So it would do so repeatedly. But you will need to setup the minimum time to reboot if you dont want it to reboot it IF it just told it to reboot (since the hashrate is low when you start it).

A soft reset never really helps. I have to do a full power cycle. Does the software do that? I don't think it can.

The problem he refer to is some mystery where one board drop off and generally turn back on on its own after a minute or two. You seem to have a different, more severe issue. The software does not do a power cycle now, no, it cannot and it doesn't even properly do a software reboot either.
1310  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: January 19, 2016, 11:52:08 PM
A little help. I just got my Antminer S7 today and I am having a few issues getting it up and running.

The red light stays on next to the ethernet cable. I think this means it has a problem.

The problem is, it is not working. It show nothing under the miner status page.

Not sure if the picture will show up or not, so I tried all 3 ways. Hopefully at least one of them will show up.

Please help!

And yes I know I am a noob.

You tried HTML and thats it, the 2 others, you just pasted the same link 3 times. Forum is BBCode, not HTML.

Its;
Code:
[img]imgurl[/img]

But it wont work anyways because you need to be a Junior member.

Anyways, what are you doing? What PSU are you using? Did you connect all 10 PCI-e ports? It kind of look like the 3 ASIC boards are not connected to the miner.
1311  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin Help on: January 19, 2016, 09:40:47 PM
0.04738 for 1kWh
I know how bitcoins work but I wanna get into mining.
By looking at this https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
Im looking to get something like the antminer u3 or prices somewhere like that.

Ah, well, if you're just looking to have some fun and not really into generating btc, get a gekko sidehack stick. The sales reopened lately so it would be a good usb stick to learn some basics mining concept (maybe).

You could try to get some U3 but its not really a great miner for a couple of reasons. Maybe 20$ each could be worth it.

I am windows but the question is , is it for the new controller they have posted on there site

https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160105102242316JqapyMif0705

or can they be used on S7 batch 5 with original controller ? if so what are the changes ?

Its just a BBB, which is used across all latest Antminers, but the thing is, the unique thing you need to turn the BBB into a controller is the daughter board, the unique thing to each miner.

Its also hard to tell which portion of the controller died. I guess having a spare would not hurt, but by itself, will not run any miners.

On the page itself it says that it is not included (The unique portion of each miner controller); "IO board doesn't included." Quoted exactly as Bitmain wrote it in their disclaimer.

No my S7 works fine I was just wondering will that firmware work in the beagle/daughter that's already in there I have batch 5 which is 600mhz.

and if it does what are there firmware fixes ??

Oh i see. Nobody really knows what the "fixes" does, nothing before or after seem to have visible change so since they seem to be very minor, changing firmware is generally considered a no go.

For which firmware to get, you have to put the right one in. If you put which miner and batch information in the order detail, they will give you the right firmware for it.
1313  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Putting an S7 in the room I am sleeping in? on: January 19, 2016, 07:18:32 PM
I actually sleep in my dorm which i have an S7 in. Its a batch 4 and i undervolt it to ~500 frequency and i put fan on 35%. The chips run at around 50-53 C...however i think I am used to it by now. Im starting to have second thoughts about a few weeks of the constant fucking noise. On a side note....does anyone know of any hosting for the miners? If so could you please send me some details. Please and thankyou

What country are the miners located in? There are tons and who you go with pretty much depend where you are located. Contact Allinvain for Canada.

And you can "get used to it" if you want but anything around that noise level will damage your hearing over time. It tooks months for me but eventually it caused damage to my eardrum and its been taking months to fully heal.
1314  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminers hashing differently - Setting up. on: January 19, 2016, 05:39:09 PM
Hi, I have 2 Antminers hashing differently. Want to know if this is common or could be corrected with tweaking ?

What are they? Antminer S3's? Could you post a pic of each WebUI status page instead? Also try a proper pool, like Kano.is to monitor at the pool side. You can then use http://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/index.php if you want in depth back-log of your miner's performance.
1315  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: January 19, 2016, 05:34:18 PM
Hi all,

A quick question. I have a S7 using Bitmain's APW3-12-1600-B2 as the power supply.

Now, my problem, my miner randomly starts, I repeat, randomly starts. I put my miner all over the house, in different wall plugs, these are some of the things that happen

1) I can mine for 4 hours then the miner dies
2) I can mine for an hour before the miner dies
3) The miner starts up for only 5 mins and then dies
4) I could on the power to the miner, only after 5 mins, lights will appear on the miner, a few mins after that, then the miner starts.

This occurs randomly anywhere I put it. Initially i thought it was my house's wiring. Then i tried to use a multimeter on my PSU. At first, each connector could provide 12V power. The longer I left it on, the least power it provided till at the end only 1V per connector (this also includes the earlier connectors check)

So some im gonna send my psu for warranty.

My question, is there a possibility that the miner could be damaged? or the miner might have problems also which causes it to shutdown?

Its not impossible that the miner could be damaged but my money is also on the PSU. The best thing here would be to try a different PSU on the miner, but i guess you would of tried that already if you have one?

If you have some ATX power supplies, you could try multiple on the S7 to see if it work properly. Personally i just plug all the PSU on the same surge protector, then flip the surge protector on, so that all PSU are powered at the same time as the controller board and it work flawlessly. At least my EVGA all power on at pretty much the same time. I don't know if it would be as clean when using different brands.
1316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Double Spend help on: January 19, 2016, 05:29:33 PM
ok got your point and thanks to peter for his honesty.

Thats pretty nice, but i didnt really get how he did it, to Coinbase or from Coinbase? Since Coinbase doesnt credit you anything until 6 transaction or something.

Also as a merchant selling coffee, you could simply make it so that you need a mandatory fee higher than the average, so let say, you ask for double the normal transaction fee, let say 8 cents instead of 4 cents. Then you deduct that from the coffee price, so that the price does not raise for the buyer.

Then this is a 1.66% to 2% loss in return. You have to ask yourself if its likely that more than 2% of your sales are going to be double spend. Probably not, so this is minimal, but probably why low cost transaction are not attempted to be secured by sellers.

You don't even know what calculator to use.  You have a lot of learning to do
before anyone will take you seriously.

So far it look like some new guy trying his luck at scamming. One that has very little knowledge with Bitcoin;

"processing crypto currencies" Cute.

Op, you would not even be able to pay yourself back 100% in 6 months, so how you could pay investors back? Its not possible.

If you're really that prominent in your country, you would be able to get a federal loan for a governmental project. But your numbers don't add up.

It is either a scam or greedy person.   If they have what he claims this should be something in their budget.  Look at around 1k per miner you could do 74T or so easily for around 10 grand (maybe a little higher with PSU's).  But this should be within your budget if your responsible for a data center... i think OP most likely is making himself sound more important then he is.

And even if someone crazy would send you machines if your rates are so low why would it be 50/50?  Seems like owner is investing most money, but you think your worth 50 percent?   Split would be no where near what you mention.  But I don't see anyone sending gear.

There is several "send me your miners and we'll split profit 50/50." offers right now, it make it sound like its the same person trying to scam people through slightly different angle, rather than several nearly-identical setup suddenly offering the same service.

Previously i replied to one asking "The cut you're asking is insane, there are already high trust services and data center offering affordable hosting and they take nowhere close to 50%, "so do you think you could compete with those?".

I tried a few times, i either did not get a reply or the thread was locked. Then i saw nearly the same offer pop up again, and again.

Its too bad if one of these is legit but...
1319  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 13 to Jan 27 picks are opened! on: January 19, 2016, 05:01:03 PM
+9.1 = VirosaGITS

I was hoping for a small + or -, but the high average is already at +4.5% and the 512 block is already close to +10%, so i am afraid we might even be able to get into the +2 digits raise, this round.
1320  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: running antminer s5 with no fan? on: January 19, 2016, 04:55:15 PM
Thanks all for the nice comments.

NotFuzzyWarm: Agree, very good comment. The original heat sink ribs will prevent an upwards oil flow in the horizontal position.

VriosaGITS:       I thought more about putting a resistor there. The question is then what kind of resistor and resistance is most appropriate.

BitcionLover:     Could be. I take this as a “scientific” experiment Smiley

I do not know if a resistor would give a RPM reading. I am not knowledgeable enough to tell you how electronically, the PMW reading is sent and received. I'm guessing its a pulse set at a certain frequency. The controller board then interpret to a #RPM based on that.

Such hack would be definitively simple to setup, but i dont know if it would work. You will need a fan in there either way so that the oil move through the heatsink, so i would just pick one that will do it without too much noise.
