You are pretty much asking exactly double for your S5 compared to an S7.

Good luck with sale.

Ultra PSU are horrible by the way.

Hmm this price seem a bit insane indeed. I'd sell a S5 for 150$ less in an heartbeat.
1282  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S5 issues: Loses one board after a week. Need to restart multiple times on: January 22, 2016, 06:22:23 AM
Anyone know of a service in the US that will repair hashing boards?

I suppose sidehack might be able to give it a go, if he has the time, since i remember he said he wasn't against it. But he might be very busy with his pod development.

But in term of time and costs, it might be better off just selling it. Or keep it and trade it in for his pod project when its on.
1283  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] GPU's on: January 22, 2016, 01:07:57 AM
Hello all.

Much like the title suggests, I am writing this on behalf of a client who is hoping to buy GPU's from GPU farmers who want out.

Prices will be based on card type and quantity. I would prefer not to deal with anything less than 10 GPU's.

PM me what you have and we'll go from there!

Thanks!

Like kotarius that posted not long ago?;

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1336075.0

I've known him for a while, he has or had tons of GPUs.
1284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help me troubleshoot my new Antminer S7 on: January 21, 2016, 11:43:35 PM
I have 4 proper psu's and have tried all of them. I have underclocked to 400M and still nothing. I have tried one blade at a time and still nothing.

I didn't buy it from bitman, would they still honor a warranty?

Thanks for everyone's help so far. I am leaning toward the controller board because not even the fans rpm are showing up in the miner status tab. That would have nothing to do with hashing or enough power because the fans are running at a 100%. How do you know they are running at 100% you ask, because of the noise. Wow, they do put out some air, but the noise.

The fan RPM will not show unless the miner is mining, because it all goes through CGMiner. Either you would see everything and see dead boards, or you will see nothing. You can't have half.

You will have to contact whoever sold it, since they're the ones that sold you a bad unit. Who did you buy it from?
1285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon6 safety or how I burnt my avalon6 on: January 21, 2016, 11:39:46 PM
If it's of any consolation.... Scanning though the documents I could easily see myself making the same mistake...

Also have to say that 12.2V is a relatively low maximum with many PSU's being set to at least that voltage as standard. Am quite surprised that 12.7V would actually cause damage? With this being a string design with 20 chips would mean a core voltage of 0.635V with 12.7V supply v 0.61V with 12.2V supply.

Rich

Is it possible something carrying the current before it get to the chips burnt out? Maybe something is being used up to its rated safety already and raising the voltage by .7 bust the limit? I dont know.

Either way, thanks Phil for the information, i'll respect that 12.2V at the UI, but that seem kind of icky, since i already get 12.0 to 12.1V at the UI with standard ATX PSU.
1286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: s5 overclocking on: January 21, 2016, 11:33:23 PM
Many variables, the units themselves vary a bit, temperature has a large effect, etc.

Power consumption vs. clock speed is pretty much flat.

thanks with my power rate i dont have to worry to much about power consumption , so it makes sence to overclock them a bit right now , just dont wanna push them to far , at 375 im seeing an avg of 33* so ill just bump them up till i see around 45*

The review i posted should have all the data you could possibly want;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1151326.0

Generally with a good PSU outputting 12v~ you'll get up to 393 or 400 before the hashrate stop rising properly per increment.

thanks thats the kind of info i was looking for , search on this site doesnt seem to work very well

You have to search through this site with google. The search is a bit hard to use and does not work the same way.

http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu308/zerberfert/S7_Pool.png

There is my pool page. I bought some new psu's today and it is still not working. Yes the fans come on about 30 secs after I turn it on and they run wide open at 100% and are very loud. They vid's on youtube are not even half the noise level as mine.

VirosaGITS - I have no idea what you said. I do not know linux very well and didn't think I had to do all that on the S7. That's why I bought it and not other machines. I don't even see a command line to do all that.

The network is working because I can log into the machine and I have pinged a few sights inside of the S7 software.

Btw it is a batch 8.

The controller boot from an .img, if the .img is corrupted somehow it could fuck over CGMiner. And no you should not have to do this. If its a B8 then its probably still on warranty, if you received it like that, you should contact Bitmain and ask wtf if you have not already.

Maybe, just maybe Bitmain put the wrong firmware on it, i honestly don't know.

All i or anyone can do is probably have you check some things to figure out what is wrong. Bitmain may very well blame the PSU's. But assuming they are in working condition, you should of still been able to run the S7 at lower freq or with just one blade for example.

A good thing to do would be to try with a proper PSU in the meantime.
1288  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 21, 2016, 08:47:18 PM
In theory the post count should be irrelevant because no one posts just to be paid right? Everyone just posts and you just happen to get a reward for doing what you would be doing anyways...right?

Even if you want to play the moral card and i find it arguable in the first place. The post count is still important, since thats the publicity they're paying for. I'd love to get paid for simply having the signature held on all the 3k whatever posts i have, but thats not how it works apparently.

But i can say without shame that what motivate me to get on my computer, login and check the beginners, mining support and hardware section and then reply to those and give information to people who are asking for information or support, is not the just the good within my soul, but the fact i'll be rewarded with a tiny bit of BTC for those posts. Its not like i ever, ever got a tip for giving very valuable information from someone i helped, so...

I don't get on to spam useless posts, but i do get on to post useful posts and get a small reward for them.
1289  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 21, 2016, 08:26:09 PM
Sure, let's open it to discussion: What do people think of making this campaign a fixed rate/monthly type campaign with competitive rates (of course)?

You'd have to say for example 0.07BTC per week, 80+ posts. Then you'd lose anyone who can't do 80+ every week and everyone who wants to make more. I would not mind discussing a flat rate depending on my average post count per week, but i don't think phil's deal would work for me, or my deal would work with others, etc.
1290  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: January 21, 2016, 08:21:37 PM
Marco...why not take this campaign and make it flat rate with monthly payments? That would solve all of your issues and stop 50% of the posts in this thread.

How would that work, when some people post 10 posts per week and some posts 500?
1291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 21, 2016, 07:48:08 PM
i dont really care for folks that flaunt free electricy. its not really free and should be factored in. some is payig for it wether its your boss mother grandmother rich uncle or if you are setup in the trap abandominium mining via usa and a 96 vovlt phone line society is collectivly paying fr it mining is a waste of time imo if you really want to make money start trading securities and currencies or playing powerball

Did somebody "flaunt free electricity" somewhere?  I must have missed that.

Thats incorrect anyways. For places with cheap electricity, you can use up to any amount of electricity your panel let you get for a flat fee per month. As such using more than just what you need to live in your apartment does not cost more. As such the electricity you use up with the miners is "free" in a sense where you do not pay more for their consumption.

The downside is its rather limited and typically 120v only.

I don't know if either one of those links work. Do you think setting it to 600m would work? Or do I need to go lower?

The psu's says it puts out 900w with 120v. If the whole system is 1250ish watts, that is a little over 400w. I will get another psu tomorrow to find out for sure. I am going to go try to underclock it and see if that works.

Naw a screenshot of your pool configuration page. Not the miner status page.

I have a feeling it's a controller issue? Even if he had wrong pool configure info that info should show up on status page but just show dead I believe. So if under powered you should still see this I would think. Are the fans running?

If you input an invalid argument to cgminer it will not start and as such you will get the result OP is getting, with no data being shown on the status page. Just try inputting an invalid argument in the config or on the launch arg file in ssh or scp and you will see thats what happens too.

So yes it could be hardware controller related but you should rule the rest out first, such as software controller related. After that, making a backup for the image file and then putting in a clean one would be the next thing to try.

Is escrow Okay? Also where is it located?

I'm looking to buy a laptop right now for around 200$ so i could offer that, but i know thats too low for a "gaming laptop" as gimmicky as that is. I got a PC Desktop for gaming. Also i'd probably want a 17.Xinch screen, ah well.

"What C where you reading on the board? All my boards are +- 2c from one another; 53C, 51C, 52C. So if board one had poorer heatsink i think you would be able to see the difference somewhat in the temp readings?"

At the moment I am reading 56 on Chain 1
and 62 on chain 2
Freq 693 fans @ 45% room temp 20 centigrade

To me it looks like the side boards suffer most from the air obstruction of the fan mounting plates

.
Replaced the broken board with a "dummy" piece of hardwood.
Had to "wedge" the side on the intake, otherwise the fan was blowing air back.

I see, so your temps goes up in the 60s.

Maybe this is a tip that can help people, or maybe not but; When i put it on the left side, at least thats the side i got mine on, the temps are much tighter, the lower temp is higher but the highest temp is lower.

Hopefully that doesnt break anything but thats what the sensors report.
1296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking for proper site to buy and then store bitcoin on: January 21, 2016, 07:14:22 PM
Is there a dummy guide to buying and storing bitcoins via paper wallet?

Yes, google is your friend;
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Paper_wallet

Now there is nothing wrong with using a hardware wallet, but its not cold storage which properly done give you 100% protection, short of getting your thing physically stolen, or you kidnapped. This is where encryption comes in handy i guess.

Anyways, unless you're storage a fortune in BTC, a hardware wallet would be fine. Or a wallet on an offline computer could work too.

Edit: I dont really think this would get rid of spammers. But it would reduce the spam here about the bot not working all the time.

payment again not received for this week

No need to complain, u know they always deliver withing a day or two. Just a bit of patience.

yeah but it's a way to say that the bot is not working right, just that

Hmm, i still havent had all my post paids from back then. (From when the bot swap happened)

I did receive a manual payout of 150 posts, but i had like 235 posts unpaid. So i can *shrug it off*, but i'm still losing a bit of posts from in between payouts because they're only paying for example 150 posts if you did 200 posts over 10 days.

This has happened at both the last 2 payout date missed. And now the bot is late again. It seem like switching bots made it worst, that all.

The total number of such transactions exceeds 200.

Why not Mine to your own Wallet and just transfer to Fiat exchange such as Coinbase in large chunks when needed?
Avoid the 200+ transactions.

As for Tax purposes in USA, everyone should already be documenting their Fiat to BTC transfers and vice versa.  Fiat to BTC would go into a "Hold" account.  Then sales of BTC to Fiat would be removed from "Hold" account.  If more comes out than goes in, it becomes Capital gain and declared as such.  If you have sold all BTC and are under than you'll file a capital loss.  This should be done regardless of documents received as an audit will make resolution of those transactions a necessity.  1099k will put you under the microscope for audit for sure.  #1 cause for small business audit is discrepancy of reported income vs sum total of 1099's reported.  You'll need all your ducks in a row because an audit is highly likely if they are reporting all transfers as "payments" on the 1099k and you are not including those transfers in your over all "earned income" field.

Totally agree...

Thats all pretty disgusting. I am in Canada, and i use it in a similar way, but the way BTC is defined in the law is pretty vague and only a capital gain should have to be declared so its pretty easy to do whatever as long as you declare your real BTC profits as a other source of income.

I really wish it does not become like that in Canada in the future.
