1261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon6 safety or how I burnt my avalon6 on: January 24, 2016, 01:31:05 PM
This is where Avalon support stands out.  Well done by Block C.  Although, 1 thing I don't think is right is that Avalon 6 advertise the Hash rate at 3.5 to 3.65TH everywhere but most will only get between 3.2 to 3.4TH unless they risk it via Over volting to get the 3.7-3.9TH and void warranty.  If this was the case with the S7, everyone would be bitching and asking for compensation.  Why is no one asking for compensation for the Avalon 6?  My brother in law is not impress with Avalon 6 and after seeing this post, he stops trying to get a PSU for the over volting so he's just basically have a weak 3.2TH system.  300GH missing is almost 10% difference!

You can get in the 3.2 to 3.4 area with 11.9. I bought an EVGA atx just so I was using same PSU's on both miners (I like to be tidy).   But they run 11.9-12.1 all seems to depend. Looking back I should have got some nice server ones instead.

Likely if you are using the "12V DC ±0.2V" I think you could get the 3.5T side of things around the 12.2 side.  But as everyone has seen you should not go above that.

Is there a particular thing to do, to get 3.2 to 3.4THs? I get wildly different temps and different hashrate and no where near 3.4THs. Is it a overvolt thing only? I'm on ATX psu but i usually get 12.1v at the ui;

I see "smartspeed" is on, not sure if i need to do manual tuning or something?

payment is wrong as usual, since it does not count those days that added were there must be a reset already, should be 50% more

Same, but i'm a bit tired of chasing after them(the missing posts paid). I already PM'ed several time after being asked directly to PM about it so that it be fixed. I guess Marco and Bitcoinboy are extremely busy, a bit too busy to run the campaign the way it is.

Hopefully the Campaign change will fix that and then everyone will be happy again.

Maybe a weekly flat rate would be better if its the only way to get the bot to do its job right. Maybe it could pay weekly as long as your monthly average is within bounds.
Hi I just see your Pm I didn't connect since 4 days.

Thanks for looking into it, i understand you're busy. I don't blame you.
1263  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS][CANADA]2.9 AsicMiner Tubes -> Slowly dropping the price on: January 24, 2016, 01:25:21 PM
-0.85BTC for all;
AMTube (3 Total)
, including 3 controller, incl Shipped within Canada, elsewhere is small extra
All boards work (12 of them), one miner has 8%ish less hashrate because of 2 boards slightly slower.

-Antminer S1(3 Available)

-Antminer S5(4 May be Available soon)
Might sell my S5's depending on the price i get for them.

Above text modified. Added a mention for S5's and changed the price for the AMTubes.
1264  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: January 24, 2016, 01:19:27 PM
Right now i got both A6s and a S7 B8 and i'm strongly self-debating getting one last unit. I have strongly mixed feeling between getting something like a Batch 7 S7 or any other S7 that has high chip count or high efficiency or a last A6.

I bought 2 S7 B9 and now am awaiting arrival of said miners. However, I'm having a buyer's remorse. I think I should've kept my btc instead. Bitcoin price will rocket up this year, this much is certain. Mining is always a losing game due to diff rocketing up even more than price. We're all playing a fool's game. The only people guaranteed to profit are the Chinese factories and factory owners. Why are we so stupid???

We all hope for better.  I am convinced miners see the glass as half full and the server is coming by to top it off.😀

Its not that bad, with cheap electricity, you can be looking at a slowish break even at current BTC price + average 5-7% diff raises until halving. But if the price of BTC keep up, it would actually be great profit.

And when its time to sell, the unit will still be worth something, so thats a plus.
1265  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS]Lenovo Y5-70 i7-4720HQ 2.6GHz 8GB RAM / 1TB Gaming Notebook WARRANTY! on: January 24, 2016, 01:12:30 PM
Offer in btc or USD only please

The offer above was strait in USD.

I saw you added a WARRANTY tag. How would that work? Warranty rules almost always void warranty for second hand buyers. You need a specific clause that would extend the warranty to as second hand owner, such how the warranty change for second hand EVGA PSU owners.

1267  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How much power will an S7 use per month in kWh? on: January 24, 2016, 04:31:58 AM
I have two questions:

Can someone give me an idea how much power an S7 will use per month in KwH's? (I know there are a few variables like efficiency and temperature)

What is the main difference I will see with plugging an S7 in a 120v, 208v, or 240v outlet using an EVGA G2 1600w power supply? Will this just make the S7 more efficient or will I also save on power?

Thanks for your input.

240v should be more efficient, by maybe 1% more. The kW depend on the S7, but kW/h = kW per hour. So you just multiply kW per the number of hours in the month. Tongue

So a B8 would be 1.4kW * amount of hours in the month.

1268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 23, 2016, 10:13:42 PM

People are kind of oblivious, everyone flock to the bigger agglomeration, its a survival instinct. By default the miners are set to Antpool, too and then they advertise 0% fee. So people thing the less = better. But Antpool keep the txfee, so the fee is much higher than Kano's 0.9%.

The other thing is that Bitmain might be keeping a lot of S7 for themselves. It would be rather profitable for them to do so.

Antpoool last month Luck

24 Hours       3 Day         1 Week       2 Weeks       1 Month
106.00%     108.00%     111.00%     107.00%     103.00%

https://www.antpool.com/poolStats.htm

and it claims lifetime to be 100%  lets say that is true

kano.io claims lifetime to be 104.33%  lets say that is true.

so an antpool miner that earns 100 coins before fees before fees =  97.5 coins  after 2.5 % fee and no transaction fees  so total of 97.5 coins

a miner that mined with kano  would be getting 104.33 coins = 103.39 coins after .9% fee    and about 4 blocks worths of fees say 1 more coin 104.39 coins

so a big time miner not in China    is getting 97.5 coins after fees at antpool  and a bigtime miner with kano would be getting 104.39 coins

So I get if you are in China why mining at antpool makes sense due to firewall issue.     but 97.5 coins vs 104.39 coins  no contest where anyone should mine.

Thats correct math, except Antpool has a 0% fee. So 100% luck would be 100 coins. And Kano after 0.9% fee is indeed at 104~105BTC. So even with Antpool's 0% fee, you lose more using Antpool than Kano.

Even if Kano would be at 100% luck overall, Kano would be superior, because the TX fee account to more than the 0.9% we pay Kano pool. And also Kano has a great backend, which help eliminating Orphans.
1269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer: S5 fan verus S3 fans on: January 23, 2016, 10:07:40 PM
Hello

Generally speaking, are the fans on S5 and S3 the same?

With an S5 the fan at 3,000 is probably 10 times the sound of the two fans on the S3 running at the same speed. But they are running at the same RPM.

Naw, the S3 fan at high speed have a very loud noise as well, its just that the S3 did not run them at full speed. When ran at similar RPM they have similar noise level, but the S3 get a higher pitch faster.

I think the S5 fan simply can reach higher RPM, so if the RPM of the "global fan" is set properly, there will be no noise issue.

Here there is an S3 running two fans, 1@4000RPM, 2@2000RPM, and it is very quiet. Nearly silent.

And then there is an S5 running one fan @3400RPM and it is 10 times louder at least. To get to a similar loudness with S5 requires going down to around 1600-2000RPM

My S1 and S3 fans must be different then, because at 3000RPM they sound like a heavy drill, and the S5 fans run at the minimum speed, which is 2400RPM are quieter, through not by much, but the noise is a much lower pitch, so more bearable imo.

Let s get back to the main issue. What s with payouts and why are they constantly late?

I can see the Payment btc address is topuped with 2.50+ btc on 21 st Jan. So, I think , marco should release the payments too.

That was very confusing, coming from you, since you're using Marco's personal avatar.

Buddy, there is no restriction about using the avatar of anyone. I like that avatar , so i am using that one. Before, you say me a alt of marco. I want to tell you that I am not . Even , i don't have a single alt account on bitcointalk forum too.

Thats not what i said. I said you're using someone else's personal avatar. So at a first glanced it looked like you were Marco, but you are not, you simply took someone else's avatar. In this case, Marco's.

Ergo it was confusing, since i was looking for replies by Marco.

I also ended my mining in China over this. Frankly I don't understand why anyone not in China mines on a Chinese pool when kano.is has proven to crush the Chinese pools.

Prior to S7 sales Antpool was approx %18-%19 of network. Thanks to you guys that support diversity, they jumped to almost %23-%25 in just 3 months. Keep buying those S7's. Can't wait to see the growth after the S8/S9 sales. Good job guys.  Wink
Yes, very sarcastic post NOT meant to break or shatter ones delicate nature.

Disclaimer: My numbers could be off by %50.

I still think Pluto is a planet.

I have been regularly active on the forum from a few days but my activity count has stopped at 28 i don't know why. My post count is increasing but activity count stopped increasing. Why is that happening? Is that normal?

Yes it is. Activity is capped at 14 per 2 weeks, so 1 per day average. At the next activity update you will jump up 14 activity points.

yeah 1 wire per.. perhaps the s5 is using more power then it should, but the first time the wire melted it was on a s3, at that time i was using 1 wire per blade.

If you plugged 6 there should not be any problem, even low quality connectors should be fine, since 125 watts per is not much. Maybe the unit does not have over volt protection. *Shrug*

Yeah... still got 85 or so unpaid posts from before the Bot swap, when there had been no payout for three weeks, on top of this one.

Besides the API, is there anywhere else shown the 5m,1hr and 24hr hashrate for each worker?

Zach M is not affiliated but this is what i use;

Beats reading the API yourself.

My seasonic X-850 decided to melt the wires on my s5.. this is actually the 2nd time its done this.. :/

im really not a fan of modular power supplies Sad

i put an old corsair non modular 750 on it for now..

thankfully all it did was shut off.. the psu still works.. i guess ill throw it in my server and let it have an easy life till it dies..

if bitmain would have used 8 pin plugs instead of 6 pin plugs i dont think it would have had this issue

Never had this happen to me with any EVGA PSU. Maybe the connectors or the gauge is too smalls. Are you using 1 cable per each 4 socket? I really dont see how this would happen unless that unit is faulty.
1279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon6 safety or how I burnt my avalon6 on: January 23, 2016, 05:18:41 AM
Yan will be sending me an avalon6 replacement board.  Not free of charge which is fair since I burned it from my stupidity.

He did give me a discount for running the group buy.

So to all avalon6 owners  do not use a psu with more then 12.5 volts  and when you check the gui make sure it is under 12.3 volts

I want to thank Yan for the replacement part in advance.

.

Can you repair this thing? If you're lucky and only the cap is damaged it could be pretty straightforward to get working again?
1280  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: TAINTED COINS on: January 22, 2016, 07:12:18 PM
let's imagine that I have tainted coins. Will it be possible to later have troubles because I used them? Since all bitcoin transaction history can be tracked, can it at some point be led to me?

Its easy to tell where the coins went in its whole life, the thing is, its very hard to prove that through all the loops, you were the one that was used for a X transaction that was proven to be a crime.

Its pretty much the same as real cash.

Your cash could have some cocaine residue on it, does it mean you were the one that did cocaine? No.
