3161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I知 planning to surprise my soon-to-be-bride sister some BTC on her wedding day on: February 15, 2022, 12:22:15 PM
Last time, I gifted my sister some ETH to hold on her Trust Wallet and she plans to keep it for a long time due to her belief that it can go even higher.

Her wedding day was supposed to happen in the final days of December, but it was ruined because of the super typhoon, so it was moved this month. I知 so happy that she can finally walk down the aisle after a successful 10+ year relationship with her fiancee. The wedding is in a beach setting, far away from my city.

Not only I may surprise gift her some BTC, but I知 also planning to give her my unused SecuX V20 hardware wallet (since I only bought it at a special discount in exchange for a non-biased video demo). So I値l just reset my settings there so that she can create a new account and I値l teach her step by step since she has no experience yet in using hardware wallets (but already has experience in Trust Wallet and other non-custodial wallets).

After all, I already have Ledger Nano S and SafePal S1. I already educated her the basics about private keys, seed phrases, etc.

I don't know, while its a good thing that people are spreading the Bitcoin love and therefore, marketing Bitcoin to the crowds to increase the Bitcoin adoption rate, I still see giving money as a gift, especially on important occassions as a bit impersonal. If I were you, I would probably give a more physical gift, something she can use day to day instead of just leaving it as an investment for the longer term...

But maybe I am wrong... Thats just me.
3162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When your freedom is taken, bitcoin and crypto is the solution! on: February 15, 2022, 11:28:37 AM
Again another perfect example why Bitcoin is Freedom!
And when 'they' take your freedom the only hope are the cryptocurrencies.

This is not about pandemic nor vax/anti-vax, this is just example of how the government can shut you down if you do not agree with them on any matter.

Trudeau vows to freeze anti-mandate protesters' bank accounts

Quote
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken the unprecedented step of invoking the Emergencies Act to crack down on anti-vaccine mandate protests.

Mr Trudeau said the scope of the measures would be "time-limited", "reasonable and proportionate" and would not see the military deployed.

With no need for a court order, banks will be able freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the protests.

Maybe Chrys Sky was right back in May 2020.

You are absolutely correct! Crypto and the blockchain technology on which it is built upon, is the future of "freedom technology". We won't let ourselves be stripped of what makes us free, human or unmonitored. Its just basic human needs like water, air and food. We are not meant to be governed and restricted to death. We were never meant to be locked in a room with no doors and no windows.

This is the fight against evil. And blockchain and crypto are our best weapons.

So far, everyone is looking for only the positive aspects of the metaverse. But there is a huge amount of very negative things. After all, living in the virtual world, we limit our physical activity, which in the long term will lead to many diseases that cannot be cured in the metaverse.
Also, the metaverse itself can have many brutal downsides. Take a look at this:

https://www.ladbible.com/news/latest-woman-says-her-female-avatar-was-gang-raped-in-facebooks-metaverse-20220201
Of course it's not only positive things that exist in the metaverse world, negative things can't be separated from that too

but let's just discuss the positive things because over time, the bad/negative things from the metaverse we can certainly minimize as much as possible

gambling while staying at home and being integrated into the world of the metaverse is a wonderful thing that will definitely be available in the future

Every hype or new developments is accompanied by its pros and cons. As we are still battling the pandemic era, I strongly believe that metaverse will indeed find its good place in the gambling industry also. However, parents should be mindful about their kids as they may stumble this kind of platform without their knowledge. They should remind their kids on what to do if in case they encounter this kind of entertainment. Be open with them regarding discussions of hobbies and activities. As many people are going digital, you can't say they won't chance upon metaverse especially if they click those ads popping on their screen.

I really don't see anything substantially relevant that would support all this unjustified hype for the metaverse. But that again, is only the opinion of one man. Me. From my own personal view, I would be more excited about web 3.0 and what it can offer for the future of online gambling. I realise the current web 3.0 is still way too immature for complexities such as gambling functions, but it really is worth looking more into, again, from my own opinion.

Metaverse should be phasing out now, especially in europe.

Bitcoin doesn't have a bright future anymore? What cave have you been hiding in? On which planet? Roll Eyes Grin

Bitcoin very much has a very bright future. Look at the volume of the market cap. Look at the adoption. Did you not see an entire country adopt Bitcoin and make it legal tender?
If anything, you are not going to make many friends on BITCOINtalk with such an attitude.  Wink

As long as Bitcoin is the number 1 cryptocurrency, it will be a very safe bet as a future money.

I highly recommend looking into crypto a bit more. You have much to learn.
3165  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there a way to actually get to know the real price of Bitcoin? on: February 14, 2022, 03:50:18 PM
Is there a way to actually predict the price of Bitcoin?

No. This is currenty physically impossible. You would need live info on everybody including their mind processes. How would you know if some really rich guy wants to buy Bitcoin during the next few minutes? You can't. Not unless he tells someone.

The closest you can get to predicting the price is looking at the same chart that everyone else is looking at and well....Try your luck.

Although personally, for me, it isnt luck. Its an investment. If I can take a profit, I take a profit. If its a bad trade, I won't take any losses by selling. And it stays a long term investment.
3166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A lesson to learn here I belief on: February 14, 2022, 02:46:55 PM
I find it more easier to hold coins and tokens if their worth isn't much, this means that we find it hard to hold simply because we invested too much money that we aren't ready to lose, here are two examples to back my point.

1. I always like the idea of " not selling everything ", assuming I have 1000 tokens I always sell 90% even when they are at ATH, leaving very few coins and tokens behind do have it's time, there will come a time where they add more value, remember not every ATH is the last ATH.

2. little coins that earned through airdops in 2017 they are not even close to 1$ and in January 2022 two of them did wonders, name is Avinoc and whackd token, I made 80$ from avinoc and 500$ from whackd, my main point here is if those coins have huge value at the time I would have sold them right? I took my eye off them because they have too low value...

Its just basic fundamental human psychology to become irrational when it comes to something they see as value. Especially when that something with value becomes something that is viewed as a huge value. The concept of value is subjective for everyone. While a poor man may put 1000 USD into Bitcoin and panic sell when it drops to a value of 800 USD or goes up to 1200 USD. That 200 USD is percieved as a large value.

A rich man could put in hundreds of thousands of dollars and not care about whether it goes up or down. And he hodls it for ages.

Guess who wins a worthwhile profit in the end?
3167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: About Snooker Game on: February 14, 2022, 11:22:12 AM
I do rarely hear about Snooker games mentioned, if anything in gambling sections. Personally, to me, Snooker is not really all that exciting of a game. Its basically billiards with more unnecessarily complicated rules that most people don't really find all too attractive, since bringing something too complicated into a game which should have a simple foundation does take away a lot of the interest in the game.

Having said that, I prefer to stay with Billiards or "pool".

cant wait for fusion plants to come on line. go tokamak!

It will be very interesting to see how the delivery of fusion energy might change the whole energy/political landscape.
In theory, this should allow us to have access to very cheap, almost limitless electricity.
Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and removing the stranglehold other countries have on us due to the abundance of natural fossil fuels within those countries.
Also what will happen to Bitcoin when energy becomes cheaper?
Will there be a need for US war machine to protect the petrodollar?
Perhaps the production costs of these new nuclear plants might be too prohibitive to build enough of them to change the reliance on fossil fuels?
Will there be the political will to change the status quo?

Electricity is only one input, production of many things will still be limited by available commodities. It will certainly be a massive game changer though. But fusion is still decades off at best and most likely closer to a century.

I have no knowledge about fusion myself and when my knowledge in a certain area is lacking, the discussions on hackernews are always pretty enlightening. Most there seem to think it is not really a breakthrough at all, more of just a benchmark being hit.

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30271677

You guys finally getting excited about fusion energy? Great!

Heres one thing thats going to happen. The surplus energy will be artificially drained to keep prices up. Why would anyone want to pay mere cents for their monthly electricity bill?
3169  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Giving Bitcoin to Employees on: February 12, 2022, 09:31:47 AM
Theres also another interesting aspect. If you can write this off as some kind of bonus or something similiar on your taxes... Say you say to your employee that you will give them 0.1BTC at the end of the year as a bonus. And Bitcoin price goes to 100k USD dollars.

Currently, lets say, for the sake of simplicity of the calculation, the price is 10k.

Does this mean that the "profit" of 9k USD can be written of on your taxes as a bonus? That would be a better option than say, selling that 0.1 BTC and paying taxes on the 9k USD profit....
3170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The impact on BTC price in case of a potential Russia-Ukraine war on: February 12, 2022, 08:59:37 AM
I think any sufficiently bad news has the effect of making people make dumb decisions. This could go either way. Either people panic sell for fiat, which was always the preferred and trusted payment system OR they invest their fiat into Bitcoin, hoping that in a war, it would at least be safe in the internet instead of physically. To be honest I think Bitcoin will lose out. Not because of any rational decision but because people will stick to what they have known.

Gold, on the other hand... Grin
3171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fed decision impact on: February 11, 2022, 04:09:40 PM
The impact of the Fed痴 decision to tighten policy to halt inflation will help determine whether bitcoin will see another banner year.

What would be the result of the hasty moves in Fed policy to affect the price of bitcoin during 2022?
Kindly, choose one of the following answers and please share your opinion.

1. Frequent price rises and falls;

2. It will boost the price;

3. It will lower the price;

4. No significant impact expected.

No significant impact expected. However! I think the artificial deflation of the USD dollar, if the US government even CAN halt inflation in any significant way, then of course that will lower the price of Bitcoin in the short term. However it stands without question that the Bitcoin price will recover with time and keep growing. While the dollar anti-inflation measures will not last long. Especially considering the looming debt.

Perhaps FUD will play a bigger role.
3172  Economy / Economics / Re: India's 30% tax on income from digital asset on: February 11, 2022, 12:22:41 PM
Crypto-backward countries like India have absolutely no plan what they are doing and seem to be flip-flopping on the entire regulatory issue. There is absolutely no need for unfair tax on crypto incomes. It seems like this kind of regulation serves to coerce crypto people into going against the whole principle idea of why crypto exists in the first place.... This will definitely backfire on India in the long term.

At some point, everyone will understand that crypto is out of governments control and the control is only in their own minds of the people. Once that happens, we will be free.
3173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING! ETH 2.0 is no more!!! on: February 11, 2022, 11:05:12 AM
Ethereum in my perspective has been a failed project, barely clinging on, thanks to its former popularity and large market cap. There are better chains that have already started like Solana. By the time we see any improvement to Ethereum, it will be already too late. Unless those changes are coming sooner than later Ethereum will be left behind. Currently it would seem Binance Smart Chain is the best popular alternative for token smart contracts.

Although I still dislike BSC for not being as decentralized as Ethereum. Tongue Roll Eyes
3174  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I am doomed on trading on: February 11, 2022, 09:07:10 AM
After purchasing my first coin on binance. I had over $400 worth of Bitcoin. Been a single mother of one promising child I decided to trade my coin so as to afford to feed my family without touching the $400 I have been able to save over the years. Everything went smooth not until I decided to place a buy order. I have never traded before this happens to be my first experience and it turned against me. How do I cope with this and how do I feed my son?

I haven't spent enough time with binance app. I was trying to study the app when I came across the trading aspect of binance app and been so desperate to start earning so I can feed my son I had to take the risk. Currently I am doomed and I don't have a job to fall back to. I do I explain to my baby I have lost our hope of survival.

I wish I can upload my binance screenshot on the forum for proof currently I'm helpless and I need full assistance at this point. I am sorry if I am not supposed to post this on this forum. But I just have to device an alternate means to cover up my lapses before things get out of hands and beyond what I can afford to control. I wish I can get help or suggestions on how to go about this considering the fact I have gone hopeless

Investing is not a short term game. This is really something you should always keep in mind. Secondly, DO NOT PANIC. AND DO NOT SELL. In fact, it would definitely be best to not make any actions based on emotions. Bitcoin goes up and down up and down. Just because you got in when it was going up but went down, does not mean you lost your money. But it does mean that you must stay patient.

But it is also wise not to put any money into Bitcoin which you really really need short term.

Edit:

Tip if you need money: a lot of people are looking for someone to do simple jobs on this forum. Like signature campaigns or social media managing. You can also translate and much more... Making an extra $400 a month is no problem.
3175  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 1xbit blocks withdrawals with 0.53 BTC in account on: February 11, 2022, 06:50:35 AM
All these complaints, negative reports and negative trusts for anyone promoting that scam were not a red flag to you? Seriously? Cmon, my guy. All you have to do is google. 1xbit is not to be trusted, especially with over 20k usd.

At this point, I am not sure if you have much options left except maybe heading straight to the someone more official. Even then I very much doubt that they will be able to do anything because as mentioned, 1xbit has screwed people over successfully in the past.

3176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if crypto mining is outlawed ? on: February 11, 2022, 05:16:34 AM
Unless crypto mining was made illegal worldwide, which is EXTREMELY unlikely, then it would remain in the world. Miners would just go to different countries where mining is allowed.  So even if somehow it was worldwide illegal, we would still find ways around it. But if there were absolutely no ways around it and no ways to mine, even secretly, then we would just have to accept it and find new ways to keep the blockchain going.

Struggle fuels innovation.Grin
3177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: February 11, 2022, 02:16:30 AM
People have started getting curious about what Bayern Munich are going to do this summer. Because Lewandowski is very likely to leave the team and join a team like Real Madrid. And this can lead the way for Bayern Munich to start their attempts for signing Erling Haaland. I'm one of the people who think that Haaland shouldn't go there. It can be really boring to see a world-star striker like him having his times at his young age in the Bundesliga. I would definitely like to see him playing in different top leagues immediately.

I dont think that Robert Lewandowski will leave Bayern Munich this summer at all. I think he will stay he is happy there and is scoring a big number of goals. Haaland is too expensive i think and probobly wont sign with Bayern maybe with some england premier league club.
I think he looks happy with Bayern Munich right now and not any issues will left Bavarian for this season depend not any rumors with other club get his sign's. I think Lewandoski have ben 33 years old and not good decision for another club get him with this age right now, maybe keep stay on Bayern Munich for two or three years is best thing for him looking Bundesliga is not really competitive and hard like Primer League or La Liga and Serie A. How ever he still as best forward right now and have chance get top scorer in this season after score 24 goal for Bayern Munich for this season.

I don't think it would be good for Lewandowski to go to another team.  He may now consider retiring at Bayern Munich instead of adjusting to a new league.  Because he's still playing very well and it can last another year or two.  Lewandowski is the top goal scorer in Germany in recent years.  If Bayern signs Haaland, then Haaland can overtake him.  If he does not transfer, Lewandowski's records will not be broken for many years.

I would not necessarily say that Lewandowskis records will not be broken for many years, records are meant to be broken and that can go from one day to another without anyone expecting it. Lewandowski has his own attachments and sentiments that probably will result in him retiring at Bayern Munich, especially, as you already mentioned, that Lewandowski is already creeping up to the age of what is considered "old man" age in fussball.

Even if he was tempted, I doubt he will be of much interest now.
3178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin overtakes USD dollar? on: February 11, 2022, 12:30:01 AM
I truly believe that it goes without saying that the Bitcoin will definitely overtake the USD Dollar. Why? The reason is quite simple. Bitcoin is deflationary while the USD is inflationary. Bitcoin has a limited amount that can be mined, the USD can be printed infinitely. Bitcoin has been growing in price, the dollar is  becoming worthless and in the future will become completely irrelevant.

Once the US collapses under its own inhumane system of greed and corruption, the USD Dollar will no longer be the "world currency".

*tweet quotes from the same guy with 323 followers*

I am not sure if Russia will be able to keep bitcoin under wraps as much as those various law announcements seem to require.  Russia is saying that using bitcoin is o.k. so long as you do it under their rules and through their official systems... but if you try to use bitcoin as it was intended (for kinds of private peer to peer transactions), then that would not be legal.

Good luck with that.

Of course, the Russian govt likely knows their people and culture way better than some kind of outsider like yours truly - yet I am thinking that maybe the Russian govt feels that they have to frame their laws of "opening up to bitcoin" in those kinds of ways just to kind of keep some potential level of control over the whole thing?

From what little I know, I still have my doubts about the extent to which Russians are complying kinds of people (culture).  They seem to be the opposite.  They do not really like to follow rules, and so maybe that is why the Russia Govt has to appear so tough? We will see how it plays out, and I doubt that a government can ONLY make bitcoin acceptable for the elites and rule followers to the extent that they seem to have some target audience of "model citizens" that they are considering would follow the dictates.

I think the same goes for the whole world. Even China. Legal, illegal, that does not matter. Bitcoiners won't give up being Bitcoiners. If anything this "Russia wants to adopt Bitcoin" fud LCB is doing great things for the Bitcoin price already.

Fuck... covid got to my family.

I'm just getting rid of it...

3180  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can you manage gambling addict by taking drugs? on: February 09, 2022, 06:49:49 PM
Thats really a topic you should talk to your doctor about, instead of consulting a crypto forum. However, I will try to answer as professionally as possible without actually being a medical professional of any kind.

No, I very much doubt that doing drugs will help you with any kind of addiction, whether its an addiction to nicotine or an addiction to gambling.

I have heard of individual special cases of heroin addicts using drugs like lsd or dmt to help them "restructure" their neural pathways in a way that destroys their addiction. But thats not really a fire-proof method and I am sure any doctor will tell you the same.

You will just be addicted to more than gambling, in the end.
