With the discount code for one card and using bitcoinx profitability calculator I work out that break-even would be around 2 months and after 5 months you would have doubled your money (BTC).

4BTC today for 8BTC in 5months? Sounds like a decent buy for an in stock miner.

Not sure if I got that right, maybe double your money after 8 months. But that is with BTC staying at $450 for the next 8 months. The beautiful thing about getting into mining right now is that BTC is 95% likely to be on the way up from here. In 8 months we could be at $3k and so your 4BTC today ($1800) would be an 8BTC worth $24,000 instead of half that if you just hold the coins. $12k extra - it's a small gamble for a big reward.

Any info on shipping to the UK Ken? You doing international shipping on these cards?
323  Economy / Securities / Re: MPEx owner in danger of being extradited to US to face charges on: April 01, 2014, 06:27:14 PM
This scumbag has plagued and Trolled this forum and damaged almost everything that wasn't MPEx in the process. Many companies have been targeted in deliberate commercial attacks and smears by him personally. He also pays others to smear legitimate businesses too.

He has made a lot of enemies but he continues with his arrogance (which will be the end of him) simply because his ego is far too overwhelming for his own brain to come to any sense of considered reason.

Sociopaths like this should not all be locked up, but this one is also a criminal. There is no better place for this real scumbag than a US prison.

EDIT - he has also explicitly breached Romanian securities law by running an unlicensed 'alternative Securities Exchange'. But I'll let the US deal with him before reporting him for that.
324  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 31, 2014, 08:06:12 PM
would DTS's solution to underclock the miner and include a provision in the TOS that modifying the clock speed would void the warranty work?

This is good advice and it would indeed void all Statutory warranties if breached. However when we get sent back a dead chip how do we prove it has been overclocked?

Someone ask the other mining companies how they deal with this issue there must be a solution that protects us.

Mabsark chill man we are all trying to come up with good ideas.
325  Economy / Marketplace / Re: The most profitable bot on the market, $35. $100 to $119228 in 2013, +2012 too on: March 31, 2014, 06:25:50 PM
Bots don't work.

That's why their developers sell them to 100 victims for $30 a pop (to make $3k) rather than use them on their own accounts to make them themselves $30k in a week. Why would you need to sell it if it worked? Roll Eyes

minerpart, take a look at this page.

So how does the EU rule change things?

The EU directive in question is 1999/44/EC. The full wording is contained here (open the word documtent and scroll to page 7) but the important bit is this: 'A two-year guarantee applies for the sale of all consumer goods everywhere in the EU. In some countries, this may be more, and some manufacturers also choose to offer a longer warranty period.'

That's a 4 year old article and this Directive is still not de facto recognized in the UK. If you had kept on reading this same article you would have seen this:

'You may manage to get your refund on the basis of the EU directive, however, shops are within their rights to use the Sale of Goods Act as the definitive guideline instead.'

The UK's Sale of Goods Act is the definitive source here and that is not going to change, it is quoted by every retailer you could find and the UK has decided at the consumer and the legislative level to ignore the time limit stated in the EU Directive.

327  Economy / Speculation / Re: The chart says buy at this level. on: March 31, 2014, 05:37:57 PM
"The Chart Says..."

just a friendly reminder that charts don't say anything. some representations of the price and volume data may suggest a conclusion that can be drawn based on specific assumptions, but this conclusion may not follow if the assumptions do not hold.

--arepo

Au contraire - my charts talk to me every night. I talk back to them, sometimes they tell me I am up way too late and to go to bed, other times they say 'who you lookin' at Fool'?
Rarely do they talk about Moons and giant cookies which is why I just had to post this one.

Oh hang on, I think my 'the chart says' actually means the same thing as your 'a conclusion can be drawn based on...'? I did begin my post with 'Nothing is guaranteed' which you may have missed.

Can I say that conclusions are dangerous in trading, as are assumptions. You shouldn't really use them and if you do you should be prepared to abandon them at any moment. However I would say price is far more likely to go up as opposed to down from this level.

Edit - after looking at todays D1 you can see there is no spike rejection here. So price may move back up to $545 area before spiking down and rejecting $415. Spikes into support seem to be the way so why not expect that again?

328  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 31, 2014, 05:16:18 PM
To Ken, if you read this please do the following:

- Make it clear on the packaging and the website that the cards need cooling and must have some amount of assembly. Do this to avoid any customers litigating based on false advertisment.
- Make sure the cards by default are not blazing at highest power that will cause high thermal stress after a year. This way the users can offer tutorials on the forum about how to reclock the cards to make them run faster.

+1

And the manual (including the website) needs to say something like:

'The chip should not be overclocked and doing so will void all warranties'.
'All assembly must be carried out by a competent and experienced PC assembler or all warranties are void'.
'All cooling must be appropriate for the chip and be applied correctly otherwise all warranties are void'
'All manufacturing defects are under warranty and faulty equipment will be replaced.'

Could a clause also be put in along the lines of:

'Faulty equipment beyond it's financial lifespan will be reimbursed at the value of it's total expected future earnings.'

In other words in a years time with a board only able to make $100 in the following 12months  (taking the cover to the 2 years max) then $100 would be paid out for the return of the equipment should it become faulty. Also returned goods are shipped at the consumers expense. This wold make the return of the equipment a waste of time for a scamming customer.
329  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 31, 2014, 04:55:56 PM
Apple thought that too, then got bitch slapped.

Quote
In March, Apple was defeated in Italian courts for violating a European law that states that companies should offer a free two-year warranty for faulty products. Apple was fined €900,000 for only offering a one year warranty and selling a two-three year warranty to customers. Consumer groups in Germany, The Netherlands and Spain, also asked regulators to get Apple to change its warranty offering.
...
Under EU law Apple now offers to repair or replace a product within two years if "Defects present when customer takes delivery".

Sorry but wrong again:

https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-english-uk.html

Apple offer a voluntary 1 Year warranty in the UK and Ireland. As I said our local legislation is what decides this. Italy may opt for the EU 2 year Directive but the UK does not and other countries will likely vary in their local laws.

Apple also stipulate what voids this warranty (their voluntary one) and that includes:

'(d) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, liquid contact, fire, earthquake or other external cause; (e) to damage caused by operating the Apple Product outside the user manual, the technical specifications or other Apple Product published guidelines; (f) to damage caused by service (including upgrades and expansions) performed by anyone who is not a representative of Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider ("AASP"); '

330  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 31, 2014, 04:19:19 PM
In the EU, a 2 year warranty is standard regardless of what the manufacturer or reseller says.

Not true. The EU Directive is in theory mandatory but in reality each country in Europe sets it's own laws on warranty or in essence has its own implementation or interpretation of the EU Directive. So for example in the UK you are protected for around 6 months (depending on the item, the wording of the Act is 'reasonable amount of time') from defect and can ask for a replacement but after 6months have passed the onus is on you to prove there was a manufacturing fault with the item present when you bought it. To prove that you would need to pay for an engineering report. So in the UK the statutory warranty is considered 6months minimum but most manufactures give a voluntary 12month  defect warranty or electrical goods such as TV's or PC's for example.

If we are worried about people frying their chips by not operating the equipment properly that would be something that voids any warranty statutory or not. The equipment must be used as intended and if it is seen that thermal paste was not applied correctly then the customer is not due a replacement as they have damaged it themselves.

Been fun

I'm glad I got in at .0005 before bitfunder went down

Very nice. There are a lot of shareholders (maybe I'm one) who would have sold some, a lot, or all of their shares by now (for a big loss) if trading were active right the way through the last few months. I am thinking that somewhere along the line Ken has known the company is definitely going to turn a profit but if trading resumed so many shareholders would have lost out due to the negative sentiment. I do think that he has purposely done us all a big favour by not getting trading back up before definitive news of success is released. Obviously that's my view and he could never confirm that but if I was CEO and I knew success was coming (but couldn't prove that to the shareholders for various reasons) I would consider doing the same - if the shares had by accident come off the market already.
332  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] Official Shareholder Discussion Thread [Moderated] on: March 31, 2014, 03:55:36 PM
Wow Ken, amazing. Great work!

It has been a real learning process, I have to give all the credit to my Project Manager.

Ken you are a genuine guy and a humble one too so hats off to you. I only invested in the company after seeing the pics of you standing outside the VMC company offices. To me you looked like a decent down to earth and hard working businessman with experience of life and that is what finally sold me on your project. (That and the fact no scam artist would open themselves up like you did from the start.) We should always invest in people not in companies and their gloss, people bring success to companies and no amount of fancy PR or grand predictions replaces the work of capable hardworking honest staff trying their best.

This market is difficult and it is highly competitive and fast moving, but you are at long last delivering. Enough said. Well done that man!
333  Economy / Securities / -ActiveMining Hangout- (and discussion) thread on: March 31, 2014, 03:22:35 PM
Wow.....so this really has been one hell of a ride.

The lows have been terrible. Seeing DTS unraveling infront of us was not a nice thing to experience, his desperation was a bit heartbreaking. And personally for me - having 90% of my BTC hodlings in this company and thinking too many times that it was all lost has been a real stress-inducing nightmare. You have dreams and make plans about the future of BTC and your own financial freedom, you see BTC go to 1.2K and think it's actually going to change the financial world but suddenly something comes up on the thread and your hopes are shattered, all your BTC are gone. That shattering moment must have happened to most of us here?

And there were the highs too - some of Ken's early weekly updates had me air-punching! I know another investor personally and we have been bouncing off the ceiling after some positive development or revelation. A bit sad but I've looked at houses, cars, counties to live in and all but built a new life in my head. Oh the sweet memories!!

So now it's actually happening. It's REALLY HAPPENING GUYS!
So come on, forget for a minute that BTC could crash and burn within the week, or there could be a meteor strike on Springfield, and just for now, just for right now today, while we still can, let's....GET EXCITED!

Most of us will have PTSD (Stress Disorder) about this experience for months (possibly years) to come so see this as a wind-down thread. We deserve a bit of space to unwind, and the main thread is not the place for that right now.
So post your pics here or post your favourite music Vids or talk about how you will spend your money or talk about what a total star of a dude Ken is or talk about the good times and the bad or just forget all that and cry with relief.

OK I'll start with this, it's a slow burner but around 2:00 it kind of EXPLODES!!! The kid you see - this is how I felt when I saw Ken's pics.

hey, i've already got into BTC  Huh Tongue

Yeah, I meant all the other Big Boys, obviously we know the true original is already in!
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: The chart says buy at this level. on: March 30, 2014, 11:03:36 PM
Point  3 in the summer of 2013 was due to the closing of The Silk Road. I would suggest to ignore it.
Also, ignore the second low in februari. The reason for that is the gox closure.

The perceived fundamental reasons for the spike downs is immaterial, the ascending support line and the overall patterns presenting this buying opportunity is what is important. Obviously the impending widespread uptake of the currency makes my prediction far more likely than not to occur.
339  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC may never be this cheap again on: March 30, 2014, 10:57:11 PM
It may go as low as 420 over the next week or two but no lower - now is the time to buy.
340  Other / Off-topic / Re: Threats to extort and blackmail BCT companies by the user 'pankkake' on: March 30, 2014, 10:55:25 PM

That's not how it works.
Lawyers cannot compel anyone, only courts can.

Even my dog knows that's not the case. There are a whole host of public authorities (who also employ lawyers) that can issue orders that must be abided by. One example, the Health and Safety regulator can close any unsafe building site, shop, public space in an instant and they don't need to ask a court. The local Council noise/nuisance department can close down a loud party at the drop of a hat etc etc. Lawyers acting on behalf or regulatory authorities have wide-ranging powers (acting on behalf of the body) to demand compliance.

You are clearly very ill-informed for a 29 year old.
