BTC reserve is going to be removed tomorrow guys.

As long as you have enough BTC to cover an order you'll be allowed to place it. When an order is processed that's going to remove any other orders where there aren't enough funds to cover.

End of the week comes options BETA, and end of next week options goes live.

Nefario.
322  Economy / Securities / Re: S.DICE - Want a piece of SatoshiDICE? IPO this week before new site launch! on: August 20, 2012, 04:53:16 AM

The FAQ mentions about having to pay a 20 BTC amount to register your GPG key with them.

So does this mean that it would cost each person 20 BTC just to put in a bid for the shares?

Yes.

Also by the end of next week GLBSE will have options available (and the ability to make options) on all assets listed on GLBSE.
323  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: August 19, 2012, 07:12:17 PM
Hi

I tried to transfer Bitcoins from one account on GLBSE to another Bitcoin address on GLBSE so I can pay share holder dividends

there are currently 10 confirmations but no coins in the BTCWEB account

here is the blockchain info

http://blockchain.info/address/1pcDKKDdZjQyAxQLi3kBAnDxrkBiLg9G2

thanks

Tom

Why would you even do that?

There is an instant account to account BTC transfer thats free.

It should be there anyway.

INow that Pirateat40 closed down his operatations thanks to all the fud that was going on and growing on the forum, I expect everyone that spreads this fud, accused and insulted Pirate and the people that supported him to apologize.

Not only did Pirate brought us a great opportunity for investors (once in a lifetime actually), he did help stabilise and grow steadily bitcoin price, volume exchange, and thus contributed to the success of bitcoin. For that, Pirate, I want to thank you. You've done a wonderful work, and I hope you're stay around here.

Now, apologies on.

Do you really think that FUD is the reason why he shut down? Bullshit thread is bullshit. Don't count your chickens just yet anyway.

Of course it is. He needs large amount of coins to operate, why do you think he was paying 7% a week for?

Go read what he said, then. FUD is definitely not why he shut down.

If everyone turns out to get their coins back, then I'll be very, very happy I was wrong.

If he returns the funds it will be a boost for the bitcoin economy, 30k + coins now available for investment elsewhere.

4. While I can sympathize with the people wanting to panic sell, it's their decision to make and they're ultimately responsible for it if it turns out being unwise.

328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jonathan Ryan Owens locked Rebate, Zip.A, Alberto & BDT thread on: August 17, 2012, 05:36:38 AM
Neither the Kronos hack nor the loss of Brian Cartmell's funds should be allowed to have any impact on GLBSE investors, regardless of who was responsible for those events.  The real concern at this point is whether - independently of those two events - any of the GLBSE-raised funds have been inappropriately spent, if so by whom, and how much of their investment can be recovered.

I think this is very much the core issue, there are three assets involved BDT, REBATE, ZIP.A from what I guess BDT funds have been used specifically for the funding of BitDayTrade, whether it's successful or not isn't really important, so I think that asset is ok.

Regarding REBATE, Alberto has said that he'll pay back 1K BTC and JRO told me on the phone that he will match him. Where the funds went? To whom? who knows

ZIP.A, I have no idea what is happening regarding this asset or where the funds are, I did get an email from JRO listing all the dev work that has been done for ZIP.A
329  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: August 16, 2012, 06:29:07 PM
As soon as password hashes are compromised - I assume the site hacked.
For me if doesn't matter if they were made with md5, sha666, bcrypt or just stored in plain text - in any case it is completely unacceptable to let the user database to be leaked out.

So I don't care about the hashing method, since I learned long ago to use a different password of different sites.

Not exactly true, bcrypt hased passwords with sufficient rounds makes it a lot harder to crack. They'll have your email alright but getting the password will likely take months possibly years, of course this depends on the password difficulty.
TLDR bcrypt FTW.
That is true, but I don't use the same passwords on other sites, so I don't care if it gets decrypted or not, after the hack.
If someone was able to dump the database on a site (using SQL injection I'd guess), in 99% cases he would as well be able to modify it, which would allow him to log into my account anyway - whether he managed to decrypt the original password, or not.

Sure, but just saying bcrypt helps... a little.
330  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Minimal Electrum builds for Windows XP & 7 on: August 16, 2012, 06:28:17 PM
Hi, I have no Windows system available for now (my computer died on me), but
hopefully I will get a new PC in the first week of September and then I will be able to
make new builds.

That said, if you do have some time to make Windows builds as well, go ahead Smiley

I think it would be nice to eventually have several people working on the binary creation
and distribution, documenting the build process so it is easily repeatable by any user.

What about having a amazon windows instance?
331  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE 2.0 open for testing on: August 16, 2012, 06:23:44 PM
Can someone tell me what the "recall security" function in GLBSE specifically does?

I'm asking, it it just an "inverse" of the "issue more security" function, i.e. the unsold assets will just be reduced by x numbers?

Correct.

Alberto lied about the security on the site, when asked about how passwords were stored he said bcrypt, something like a few minutes later someone had managed to gain access to all email addresses and passwords, they were being stored using MD5 without a salt.
I think you're mixing up the order of events and that this affects your narrative.

AFAIK Alberto's statement that bcrypt is used isn't recent. On the recent reddit threads he was quoted on a statement he made some time ago. So it's not true that "he said bcrypt and a few minutes later it was proven to be MD5".

Alberto says that it was originally bcrypt but there were implementation issues so he temporarily switched to MD5. As mentioned I'm not a security expert so I can't assess how plausible this is. I'll wait for Alberto to make a clarification of this and other issues.

You are correct about him not mentioning bcrypt at least in the reddit thread.
334  Economy / Gambling / Re: www.pon-z.com - The World's First Honest Ponzi Scheme on: August 16, 2012, 05:51:07 PM
This isn't really the first honest ponzi in bitcoin land, there was one when GLBSE started last year.

Wasn't too popular though.
335  Economy / Securities / Re: Be careful of low rep GLBSE issuers. on: August 16, 2012, 05:47:14 PM
I was mostly referencing their possible scam listing also https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=100800.0

Sorry if I dont give them "fucking respect".

Who are you quoting? No one except you has used that term in this thread.

It's in reference to Patrick from Bitcoinica on an irc chat demanding he gets some "fucking respect", kind of a bitcoin pop culture/meme thing now.
336  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] BDT - 3% weekly interest bond, backed by Bitdaytrade on: August 16, 2012, 05:25:47 PM
I talked with Alberto. He may choose to make his own statement but the bottom line is that contrary to claims, no funds have been stolen from Bitdaytrade; whatever security deficiencies exist, they will be sorted out; and that bondholders shouldn't panic, he is still committed to fulfilling the contract and I will still assist him in doing so.

Excellent news! Thanks for the prompt reply.

There is way too much FUD going around (and not just about BDT, but pretty much about all Bitcoin-related investments) and those spreading this FUD should be more responsible IMO.

In any event, the security issues with BDT don't sound hard to fix. It's stated as in-beta anyway so bugs and issues are to be expected at this point, and upgrading password storage and fixing the injection attacks shouldn't take long at all. The key I think is just not to have too much BTC at risk until sufficient time and code hardening have occurred. There is certainly demand for this site due to the immense vacuum left by Bitcoinica so I'm still in strongly.

Alberto lied about the security on the site, when asked about how passwords were stored he said bcrypt, something like a few minutes later someone had managed to gain access to all email addresses and passwords, they were being stored using MD5 without a salt.

The site is running on linode (ala Bitcoinica hack)

He also lied about the site being tested for security holes, this thing is so full of holes it's swiss cheese, and hasn't been so much as looked at through the arse hole of a pen tester.

Continued, despite these very public discoveries he still assured people that the site was fine. The site itself even says "Improved Security, double factor authenication".

The site is still up AFAIK

If I find a security hole on GLBSE you know what I do? I shut it down and investigate ASAP, after the fix I explain just what it is, I don't lie about it and try to whitewash over it.

More than any other thing a bitcoin website must be secure.

If Alberto has lied about something so... essential what else has he lied about? To Meni, me, others?

What we see here is a total lack of integrity.

338  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ZipConf bond on: August 15, 2012, 11:15:57 AM
At least it doesn't seem to be a scam, as dividends have been payed for a couple of months.

Maybe I was to quick...if the guy just runs away with everybody's money, I guess that is equivalent to being a scam..

Its also called a ponzi scam if he  paid dividends from new investments.

If I remember correctly, dividends were paid for quite some time after all the 9930 shares were sold, so for this period there would be no new investments from which dividends could be paid.

I guess we just have to have some patience until all the facts come out, and/or funds are returned to investors.

You could probably pay dividends for some time from the IPO funds.

I spoke to him today on the phone.

He said he would be commenting on this thread tomorrow (he was going to bed at the time) and does plan to updat everyone as to ZipConf's current situation, and the return of funds if any.

He also stated that he would be matching bitdaytrades payment of 1000BTC for the REBATE asset, and would be commenting on that thread as well.

340  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE - request for next features on: August 14, 2012, 09:04:05 AM
BUG!!!! If there is an entry at a particular price and I make a trade at the same price, it puts my order in before the order that was already there.

How do you know this? From a trade or from the orders table?

If it's the orders table then it's not a bug, trades happen based on price first, then entry order when prices are the same.
