341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The British Museum has announced to turn artefacts into digital co on: August 01, 2023, 11:57:20 PM
IMO, the historical context of certain artifacts in museums, including the British Museum, and the ethics surrounding their acquisition and ownership.  The issues of repatriation and cultural heritage are complex and have been a subject of debate for many years.

As for NFTs, the emerging digital art market has indeed attracted both genuine interest and speculative behavior and might some see NFTs as an innovative way to engage with art and culture, while others view them with skepticism due to the speculative nature and environmental impact of blockchain technologies.
342  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: WARNING when using mobile device wallets (Android, iOS) on: August 01, 2023, 11:23:38 PM
IMO, I'm using a mobile wallet for how many years I never experience hacking or someone getting access to my wallet and it might be because, upon creation, I used my old laptop in generating a private key and then export the key into my mobile wallet.  I used Electrum which has its own keyboard inside as explained above, so I think even if you're using 3rd party keyboard it didn't affect you if you also disable permissions for the 3rd party app, it's a good idea to review and restrict permissions to ensure that the keyboard doesn't have unnecessary access to sensitive data.

The most that should be avoided is jailbreaking (iOS) or rooting (Android) your device, as it can weaken the device's security and make it more susceptible to attacks.

However, I highly discourage someone from using a mobile wallet app storing for the long term, isn't a good idea because the wallet app has low-security features.
343  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why bitcoin has 21million supply on: August 01, 2023, 10:59:18 PM

Why was the decision made to cap the total supply of Bitcoin at 21 million BTC specifically? it could be 10million, 100million, why the specific number "21"
was it a deliberate and well thought out decision, or was it a bit arbitrary?
i wanted to understand the reasoning behind this particular number "21" and whether any historical or technical factors played a role in determining it.
Only Satoshi will answer your question about why there's only 21 million total Bitcoin supply.
As the supply is fixed and not subject to inflation, some proponents argue that it could encourage saving and long-term investment in Bitcoin. However, it also has its criticisms, as deflationary assets might lead to hoarding behavior, hindering the currency's use in daily transactions.

The true reason behind the selection of 21 million Bitcoins may never be known, as Satoshi Nakamoto's identity and intentions remain a mystery to this day.  The decision has undoubtedly contributed to Bitcoin's unique properties and its status as the first and most valuable cryptocurrency in the world.
344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Certified Bitcoin Professional on: July 31, 2023, 11:58:16 PM
Interesting IMO.
There could be other organizations like Blockchain Council offering similar certifications.  However, forums and communities are great resources to learn for free and just thought of sharing this, ain't affiliated with them.

For me personally, i do not and will not consider any certificate from any of this firms important, it is nothing but business for me, they are just feeding on the ignorance of some people, what ever lesson or knowledge regrading bitcoin and blockchain that this firm is awarding this certificate for, same can be learnt and even extra ordinarily perfected through online courses from several platforms like Udemy and the likes, and the beautiful thing about Udemy is that, you can find any course there at a very cheap amount of money, all is required is your willingness and determination to learn..
I tend to agree with you that in fact, many certificates offered by such firms might not hold much value in the eyes of potential employers, especially in the blockchain industry where practical skills and knowledge matter more.  Online platforms like Udemy offer a wide range of courses at affordable prices, providing a more practical and accessible way to learn about Bitcoin and blockchain.

I think the credibility and recognition of these certificates depend on how well-known the issuing firms are within the blockchain community.  If blockchain companies and industry experts didn't recognize these certificates as valuable indicators of competence, then their worth is questionable IMO.
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON is bad coin, here is why on: July 30, 2023, 11:59:42 PM
You argument is totally wrong about Tron. Every coin has pros and cons,& Ethereum aren't all round perfect.
That's exactly what I'm going to say about this argument because such statements can be subjective and might depend on the specific use case or metric being considered.  Both TRON and Ethereum have their strengths and weaknesses, and they target different audiences and industries.

TRON was created as a decentralized platform to enable content distribution and sharing, focusing on the entertainment industry.  Justin Sun, as the founder of TRON, likely aimed to carve a niche for his project in this market, and now what when it comes to Ethereum?

It seems like we're comparing here orange and apple that has different tastes.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sharing your Bitcoin journey on: July 30, 2023, 11:23:09 PM
1. what sparked your interest in this decentralized digital currency. "BITCOIN"
It's a shame to admit it but just because of the profit you've earned and since the early days faucet and airdrops and very popular and that is the reason why I got involved in the crypto world.  But now I've realized how useful it is not only a means of making a profit.

2.How has your knowledge about Bitcoin evolved since joining Bitcointalk?
Improved of course and also always be aware of scammers or to get scams because we know how to avoid them.

3.Do you have any advice for newcomers who are just starting their Bitcoin journey?
Dont be greedy thinking about the profit, sometimes we need to invest time and effort to sharpen our minds in crypto and how this technology evolved.  There's always an advantage for those knowledgeable people.

4. Are there any memorable experiences or interactions you've had with Bitcoin and Bitcointalk that you'd like to share?
Memorable? hmmm I don't think so.  Everything that happened was great and I'm thankful for that.

5. How much help do you think Bitcoin has been of help to you since you learnt about it.
It's a lot.  I've my own business now just because of Bitcoin and this forum.
347  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is It Normal For A Site To Ask For Your Wallet Address? on: July 30, 2023, 11:05:53 PM
By the way, i still not get why did you got this email from the Atomic Wallet ? What will they make sure even if you tell them your public address  Huh
It might be because of this.
However, there are 7 different USDCoins.
So I used the Help feature and ask which of the 7 should I use?
I got an email back:

Op might be confused why he has 7 USD addresses instead of one and it could be a different network but I think 7 addresses is too much.
As I said above, there's nothing wrong if they asked a public address as long as your private key is safe, besides, it's their staff who asking for the public address.
348  Other / Archival / Re: How to manage bitcoin correctly? on: July 29, 2023, 11:42:37 PM
When BTC reached $69000. I didn't choose to sell it. but the current price of Bitcoin dropped to less than $30000. Is it the most reasonable choice to sell BTC now and turn your attention to other investments? I hope to get some good suggestions. Although I have held BTC for many years. I am not good at management.
As we know that Bitcoin was known for its price volatility, but it's also shown substantial growth over the years.
If you believe in the long-term potential of Bitcoin, holding onto it might be a reasonable option but this depends on how you'll trust or have faith in Bitcoin, and usually, that's what most Bitcoin enthusiasts do.

If you decide to continue holding your Bitcoin, consider setting up stop-loss orders or other risk management strategies, these can protect your investment from severe losses in case the price continues to drop.  Much better never to sell under the price where you purchase.
349  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is copy trading a viable option for newcomers? on: July 29, 2023, 11:35:38 PM
Copy trading has gained immense popularity in the crypto industry since its introduction. Bitget, being one of the pioneers in this field, remains one of the largest platforms for copy trading cryptocurrencies. Many consider it an appealing choice for beginners, but is it truly effective for those who are new to trading?
Why I don't even know this name?
I didn't visit that but can you tell me in what year they implement that feature of copy trading?

AFAIK, eToro was the first trading platform that introduced this copy trading, correct me if I'm wrong.
This exchange eToro introduced the feature of copy trading in 2010 and in that year, they launched their CopyTrader platform.

To be honest, copy trading can be a helpful starting point for beginners to get acquainted with the markets and to gain knowledge on trading but it doesn't mean there's a guarantee of making a profit because even experts in trading may experience losses.
350  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How do big exchanges take care of cold & hot wallets? on: July 25, 2023, 11:45:41 PM
Ain't know either, the one who answers this might be the CZ on Binance. Cheesy

But based on what I've read somewhere else before their cold storage wallet was protected by what they called "Multi-Factor Authentication" which this sensitive system typically requires multi-factor authentication, combining something you know (password), something you have (like a hardware token), or something you are (biometric data) to ensure a higher level of security.

About their hot wallet, it could be about the API and the blockchain nodes and how they combined to execute automatically.
351  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casino. Lmao. on: July 25, 2023, 10:51:16 PM
Just joined BitcoinTalk forum and I must say, I'm quite surprised to see that it has turned into a place where 50% of the forum active members are promoting Bitcoin mixers, betting or casinos. Was hoping for more discussions on the technology and its possibilities.
What's wrong with that?
I'd bet that you'll do the same when you can able to join the signature campaign and wear the signature banner.

You're free here whatever you wanted to do as long as you're following the forum rules.
Wearing a signature whether you're promoting a mixer or a gambling company doesn't mean you can't join a healthy discussion besides, they aren't spamming the company that they promote.

So wait for it that you can wear and get paid from signature and how does it feel?
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if salaries were paid in BTC on: July 25, 2023, 10:36:50 PM
A friend of mine in our discussion today about Bitcoin was insisting that salaries and wages be paid in Bitcoin in some countries.
I thought that the government will not allow fiat to be replaced by Bitcoin .so what is your take on this will it be a positive move on the Bitcoin ecosystem or not
That's possible but still, there's a problem that remained existed, volatility remains a significant issue with Bitcoin, and receiving salaries in a highly fluctuating currency might expose employees to financial risks from their up and down value.  It could complicate taxation and other legal aspects, creating uncertainties for both employers and employees.  I start thinking about the governments that might possibly be hesitant to allow fiat to be entirely replaced by Bitcoin as it could lead to difficulties in monitoring and regulating economic activities.

So for now, let's accept that Bitcoin is good for alternating for fiat but not totally a replacement for fiat.
Yes, that's likely will happen depending on which country it is.
353  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think Bitcoin Market Need Promotes for Price up ? on: July 25, 2023, 12:12:03 AM
I am Seeing Bitcoin Market is Not good Its Correction every Time

If you know what is the real meaning of the word "volatility", you might understand that this price correction that we experienced right is pretty normal and you shouldn't be panicked.  Why are you worried if you've given time to accumulate more and in fact, those who have bought in a DCA way might be happy during this time.

Quote
It can Hit $25000  ?
No one knows but I think it's unlikely will happen.
There's no valid reason the price of Bitcoin will down that far but on the opposite side, I saw it will grow after this correction of the price.
354  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Setting up an offline wallet on: July 24, 2023, 11:47:43 PM
I suggest that you buy a hardware wallet.

You are not a professional, and you are not 100% sure about what you are doing.

Creating an airgapped computer is quite difficult and a small mistake is fatal. You can lose your funds.
I tend to agree with this.
Yes, those air-gapped wallets offer excellent security benefits, they're best suited for users who have a good understanding of the technical aspects of cryptocurrencies and are willing to invest time in learning the setup and usage process.  But, for non-techy people, IMO using a reputable hardware wallet with a more user-friendly interface might be a better option to ensure both security and ease of use.

However, you can try if you pursue yourself using an air-gapped wallet but make sure you already tested it already with a small amount first.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can a person buy a hardware wallet where crypto is ban? on: July 24, 2023, 11:33:59 PM
Now is there anyway to import a hardware wallet to any country where crypto currencies are illegal ?
And one more things I wanna know that how can I chose a best budget friendly hardware wallet?
As long as you're using a decentralized platform, no one can stop you because there are no intermediaries involved in the Bitcoin which is purely decentralized.  You may encounter problems when you mix it up using decentralized and using centralized platforms.

Here's a big list of what you need, [BIG LIST] Hardware wallets (80+).
But if you have a large amount of Bitcoin, I rather spend a hardware wallet that has good security features to secure my Bitcoin.
Always purchase hardware wallets directly from the official website or authorized resellers to avoid potential scams or tampered devices which is commonly happen.
356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is This How You Short A Crypto Coin? on: July 24, 2023, 11:02:23 PM
But I don't understand how you make money on SELL.

For example, let's say I believe BTC will go down. So I BUY BTC. And then I wait for it to go down to go up and then SELL.
Don't I lose money?
That's how you will work buy when the price is low and sell when the price is high.
Fixing the above for you.

I think you need to search what is DCA way of buying Bitcoin.
But this isn't a quick scheme you need to wait a perfect time to sell because the DCA method is designed for long-term investment purposes.  It allows you to participate in the potential growth of Bitcoin while avoiding the impact of short-term price fluctuations.
357  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised on: July 24, 2023, 12:27:00 AM
I would treat it the same as a centralized exchange or a service that has already been completely compromised.
Exactly, I saw a lot of complaints regarding this Atomic wallet the same on this thread which you also commented on those links of hacked issues.

What do you think?
The hacked activities were made by their team who is behind on this major issue?  (because I'm thinking this way)
Newbies should stay away from this wallet since there are a lot of issues and it's not completely open source.
358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Could Bitcoin's Price dump to Halving? on: July 24, 2023, 12:06:05 AM
Probably we could expect 40K$- 50k$ at the end of the year if we are lucky since the end of the year most of the time pumps the market
It's indeed possible to expect a price range of $40k to $50k for Bitcoin by the end of the year, especially considering the historical trend of market pumps during that time.  However, predicting exact prices is challenging due to the various factors influencing the market.  The momentum Bitcoin has gained and the increasing demand from investors are positive signs for further growth.  Even at the current price of $30k, many of us believe it's a good opportunity to buy and could be considered a low price compared to the projected values for the next bull run.  Bitcoin's widespread adoption across countries has the potential for growth.

Based on history, as always we saw that the market pump after the next halving comes and the bonus opportunity when there is a new ATH comes which I think most of us are awaiting.
359  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scanning barcode to make payment on: July 23, 2023, 11:41:25 PM
Why a barcode instead of a QR code?
I have read that barcodes have limited data capacity and can typically store a small amount of information, such as product identification numbers not like QR codes have a much larger data capacity than barcodes.  They can store various types of data, such as alphanumeric characters, binary data, and even hyperlinks.

IMO, the QR code has more advantages than the barcode.
Though both barcodes and QR codes serve as machine-readable data representations still they are possible risks just like QR codes that can be used to link to URLs or execute certain actions when scanned.  Possibly this can be exploited by malicious scammers to direct users to phishing websites or it could direct malware infected on their devices.

As a payment, it's good for me a manual copy of the sending address.
360  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is It Normal For A Site To Ask For Your Wallet Address? on: July 23, 2023, 12:14:14 PM
Is it normal for them to ask for my coin address?
I've read about all the scams going on. About how good hackers are.
And why do they need my coin address?
IMO, that's normal of course to see the 7 addresses that you have and which one the right you chose and use.
It might they will check the right one and suggest which one you're good to use but why there are 7 addresses of this coin?
Are they using different blockchain networks?  If so, that's the purpose they asked for.

If you don't trust this wallet, there's no reason you keep using them.
Remember always that awareness is key to protecting yourself from potential risks that might you'll face in the future.

IMO, they are acting like isn't a noncustodial wallet it seems a centralized one.
