At this rate Bernie will be dropping out before next Tuesday.

I'll take that as a joke.
Elizabeth Warren HAS NOW DROPPED OUT OF THE PRIMARY. Though she has not signaled for who she will endorse at this time. Both Biden and Sanders have spoken to her.

Her best return on investment is going to be endorsing Biden, she’ll probably get a VP or high cabinet position for that.

Endorsing Bernie though would make the most sense based on her views. Biden is just more of the same, and I’m pretty sure she has said that. Bernie is calling for change, like her.

I’ll update this for whoever she endorses

Just the fact that she's out is good enough for me. A bigger pool of potential progressive voters is a good thing for Bernie.

I'll make a little disclosure here. I've donated in total around $580 for Bernie so far around this primary season in 2020 and 2019. And I'm working class, I'm not well off by any stretch of the imagination. In my day to day life, I've never seen anyone with a Joe Biden T-Shirt or with a Biden car sticker.

I've met people supporting Trump or people supporting Bernie. I never met anyone openly supporting Biden.

I won't stop fighting now, even if there's only a small chance of getting Bernie the presidency. Super Tuesday sucked. But we're still in the race.

Bernie kind of shoots himself in the foot by using the term "Democratic Socialist". Take all the policies he backs and remove that pointless label, and we'd probably be winning right now.
343  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2020 Democrats on: March 04, 2020, 12:53:53 PM
I was wrong about California, I thought the rules were the same for every state. 15% to be viable. But in California it's a little bit more complex than that, apparently part of the rules is that you get delegates for 15%+ in a congressional district.

We're only at 37% of the total delegates so far and the tallying hasn't completed yet

There are still 2480 delegates to go (3,979-1,499).

Bernie needs like 1991 to win and has 382.

So he would need to win about 65% of the remaining delegates if my math is correct and my assumptions are accurate, which I seriously doubt because I don't really know much about the actual rules and how this all plays out.

Here's the math 2480*0.65 + 382 = 1994
                               ^
                            1612

Considering what's happened tonight I think a majority is really unlikely. Even if we get a plurality the DNC can steal this from us. But I'll keep supporting Bernie.

Would you bet, right here and right now. 0.1 BTC or $800 (if you win) that bitcoin won't reach another ATH in the next 10 years?

I don't think you will. I know what the more likely scenario is.

Will you sign a contract offering to pay anyone the difference between $30000 and whatever the bitcoin price is below that in the next 5 years.

Lawyers and the whole nine yards so you can't wiggle out.  Wink

If so I am sure we can line up a whole line of takers for that?

 Cool

I'm sorry but has your brain melted?

What I'm offering is completely fair. If you would win, you'd get your precious fiat. If I'd win I'd get my precious 10 bitcents.
What you're offering is dog-shit. Kinda shows people how stupid you actually are.

The only one who is trying to wiggle out is you. I kinda think your posts are not worth reading at this point.

What I am suggesting is fair, especially for anyone that believed you.
I don't need your money, but anyone believing you , would to need to offset their personal losses.
You seem like a welcher anyway.

You be personally responsible to all those that believed your nonsense it is no wonder you are scarred to do it.

 Cool

I clearly said that the price can go either way. I believe that in the coming years it will go up.

If you're too chickenshit to put your money where your mouth is that's fine but just admit it. I give you a fair bet with limited stakes. What you're offering me is basically nonsense. There's no winning for me.

Also I don't owe anybody anything. The only times I gave friends investment advice.

1. Bitcoin was at $13 and I told someone close to get one because it could really go up.
2. Bitcoin was at $100 and I offered to give my best friend some BTC if she set up her own full node wallet

I'm not responsible for anyone's losses and since I'm in here for ideological reasons as well the price can and does take a back seat for me as compared to the ideals.

Bitcoin isn't ready, we don't have a beautiful gui, we don't have enough TPS, we don't have adoption. Those things will change.

E-mail used to take days. People never thought it would catch on.

https://www.npr.org/2020/02/10/799979293/how-many-delegates-do-the-2020-presidential-democratic-candidates-have

Biden has gained >100 delegates over Bernie so far but TX and CA will likely change that.

Both CA and TX issue delegates proportionately.  Even if Sanders takes the win in both states, I think Biden will still have enough delegates to win the day.  But it's early yet, the eastern states have only forty some odd percent reporting.  Things could change.

Not if no-one else is viable. There's a good chance that Biden doesn't get that 15% in California.

346  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2020 Democrats on: March 03, 2020, 06:04:45 AM
  1) I don't sense that he is a very bright guy with realistic policies which have any hope of working as he (says he) thinks they will.

  2) I think he is a weak person who would be muscled into anything with very little effort (in part because of the way he bowed down and kissed Clinton's ring when instructed to do so in spite of being severely ass-raped weeks before.

1. Bernie has details on how his plans will be implemented. He's not like other candidates. If you want to make this argument, you have to provide examples of where he is failing to provide details. From watching him live I can also tell that his brain is functional and he's not an automaton like many of the other candidates.

2. Bernie has a very strong character and here's the proof. He got himself arrested fighting for black rights. How many people would get arrested fighting for other people's rights, especially when it's not popular.

That was in 1963 when Bernie was a 21 year old student.

I don't wanna take more space with another pic on this thread but here's a source on that, with a good photo: https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-bernie-sanders-1963-chicago-arrest-20160219-story.html

I feel like I'm spamming this thread with all my replies so I might just lurk for a while. Can't wait to see if Bernie does well on Super Tuesday.
347  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2020 Democrats on: March 03, 2020, 04:26:11 AM
I don't understand how people are willing to vote for Biden. Then again I struggle to see why Trump became president.

If everyone in the electorate saw this video I think Bernie would win:

Title:
'Super Creep' | Joe Biden Creepy Clips Compilation 2019 | Parody Song
Description:
Joe Biden being a creep
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKJYPBNB1Yk

I've seen better compilations than that too. If I had a daughter and Joe did that to her I'd probably punch him and go to jail.

Then there's the fact that his brain is melting:

Title:
Joe Biden - 17 Minutes Of Joe's Melting Brain
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADDrSvNyqEY

Then there's the fact that Obama didn't even endorse him.
Then there's all the lies and fake stories he constantly tells.

If Biden wins the nom, I think it will be even worse than 2016.

Hillary Clinton at least had the gimmick that she would be the first woman. One of the few things that made me almost stop supporting Bernie was when he endorsed Hillary. I lost a lot of respect for him, but I see his side too, Trump has been a disaster.

The only reason Biden has a chance of winning is the lies that are propagated through the media. A sea of lies. Lies everywhere. Even on the Internet. Politifact is part of that too. Their "fact checks" are wrong when it comes to Bernie vs Biden which is disturbing.

Edit: deleting unnecessary words

350  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greece and balkan europeans under attack by migrants, is this a Case for Nato? on: March 02, 2020, 02:27:21 AM
Nato should protect greece and southern europeans from these migrants.

its a clear attack against the stability and the integrity of those states, those migrants dont just come once they are inside they start stealing and crime sometimes even murdering locals until the society starts to desintegrate.

why is nato completely sleeping on this are they drunken?

So what the Greeks think about it? are they calling for NATO?

I'm Greek but I've lived Outside of Greece for 10 years.

I think that we should keep an open mind. As long at the laws are being upheld, we're very far away from a malthusian situation. Greece like a lot of the luckier countries is not in a terrible crisis at the moment.

Things will only get worse for people in the middle east thanks to climate change. Since we're luckier we should do what we can to accept immigrants into our country. My current country is the US and I think the same about here.

Some immigrants will commit crime. They start out in a real shitty situation. But in total I think they are a positive thing. I don't see a cultural threat due to immigrants. Greece has an awesome culture and even if we got millions of immigrants in the country that wouldn't change.

Hell, we get millions of tourists every summer and things work out fine.

Edit:

grammar +

If we're talking Syrian immigrants I had one in my class growing up and he was awesome. I remember one day he gave me some of his food, and even though Greek food is probably the best in the world his stuff was also really, really good. He's cool, he's got tons of friends and still lives in Athens.

are you stupid? among those migrants there are also many hateful racists islamists and other haters, that simply don't want to work at home, a society needs labour to be fruitful for all, refugees aren't necessarily labour they could have also come legaly with a work visa.

europe block off these migrants is also helping the development of those noneuropean countries they came from because their labour actually stays there.

We're all people. The idea that they can somehow take over society and destroy a country is far-right fear-mongering. In truth they are a net benefit to society. The rules won't change. Just more diversity in the crowd.

In my experience immigrants were more fun to hangout than racists.

Even in a small village up in the mountains, I met an Albanian, well respected in the community and part of it. Now Imagine that all over Greece but with Syrians. I don't see how it makes Greece any worse.

To your points. There are going to be bigots among the immigrants, just like the native population. Hopefully if the culture goes right these people will become more secular.

As for immigrants not being fruitful labor, you're probably eating vegetables grown by immigrants and enter buildings and drive on roads that were build by illegal immigrant labor. A lot of people immigrate illegally simply to find work.

I bet the reason they don't have legal status to work is because the system failed them. I respect the lengths that these people take to get what we take for granted.

The only point where I'd advocate for a military like defense of the borders would be if it was a legit invasion. And I know you probably get a ha**on just thinking about shooting brown people but this is not what's happening here.

Sunday lunch time through until 8pm on Tuesday. I was a senior programmer working on a real time mainframe project for stock brokers, and we were getting close to going live. I had to cat nap behind the printer a few times, and I didn't get paid overtime, as I was on a monthly salary. I was called in on Sunday because the mainframe operator had put the wrong paper tape loop on the printer. That shows you how long ago it was. Smiley

That's insane since you were on salary, do you feel you got more opportunities down the line for the sacrifice you did for that company? Or did they just expect that from you?

Honorable move imo.  Nice run Pete.

I wonder if Biden offered him anything.

Maybe the VP spot.

Biden + Pete = a good chance of Trump 2020

The above is just a scratch of the bitcoin will make you rich lies.

Worse part is idiots believe them,  Tongue

These are not liest because many people gort rich with Bitcoin and we can expect that many still will. I'm not rich but I multiplied my investment in the last 4 years so in a way Bitcoin made me richer. Why shouldn't I keep it to myself and not tell others about this opportunity that lies before them?
If they're afraid they can always invest just a small amount of money and put it aside.

Bitcoin won't be at 8 or 9 thousand that's one thing we can all be sure of.
In 10 years it will be at 100 thousand or it will be at 100.
It's an all or nothing game.

I think both the 100k and the 100 are unlikely scenarios. It's not all or nothing. The argument for an increase in value is scarcity and adoption. So it's a solid argument for bitcoin going up eventually. 100k is possible but predicting that is impossible.

$100 would mean that somehow everyone lost faith, or that bitcoin somehow got supplanted by a better project. It's possible but I don't think it's likely.

Bitcoin I believe has a unique position because it's the number 1 POW coin and we only need 1. There could be other coins, connected to bitcoins POW doing POS or Masternodes or whatever but bitcoin will probably remain the leader.

Even if it loses the number 1 spot, going all the way down to $100 is kind of insane.

After Sanders loses, will he go away?

Did you mean, after Bernie wins, will they try to steal the nomination from him?

I'm willing to bet 0.01 BTC that Bernie beats the competition if you're game. But Bernie getting over 50% of delegates I don't imagine is possible. Then again. I don't know enough about elections to forecast them.

I just know that a real movement like Bernie's trumps all these other pretenders.

Biden is a proven liar and ridiculously creepy, Elizabeth Warren is a snake.

Pete is already corrupt and he's barely a big player and I think enough people can see it.

There is no viable competition to Bernie. And as for Mike Bloomberg. I'd vote for Mike Hawk before I'd vote for that spoiled rich brat. (Mike Hawk is a joke, get it?) No matter how much money he throws out there, even if it's 100 Billion, he won't resonate with the people. Bernie has a million volunteers.

Edit: changed "be" to "he"

I'm very biased on this issue, and believe that if he wins, they will steal it. However, for me to bet with you would truly be a gamble. I have no clue if he will get a very large or very small number of delegates.

Having said that, here is the interesting question (again, I am very biased). But this question is all that matters.

After the convention, Bernie will/will not be the Democratic presidential candidate.

Let's get some context. 2008, Obama gets the nomination after he gets 48.1% of the delegates. Hillary Clinton got 48%

Obama clearly won.

In a race with many candidates and where Bernie has been cheated and will probably get cheated even more, I'd say a plurality of candidates is a victory. The only reason why there is a "debate" is the same reason why there is a debate in other issues where the establishment stands to lose.

So, you won't take the bet because Bernie is winning by my definition, which I believe to be the reasonable definition. The winner of an election being the one who got the most votes. On a technicality. A plurality of delegates in this case indicates that he would probably get the majority of the people in a 1 VS 1 election for the nomination.

So are you implicitly siding with the insiders? The people who are willing to discredit the United States democratic system and disenfranchise millions of young people?

All I had to do was create a virus that has 1.5 Antibody penetration stat.

I've watched bitcoin crash all the way from $8 to (Today's price)

Shuts them up.

And what price did you sell enough to be a Fiat millionaire, otherwise you wasted the opportunity.

That is the rub, not everyone was around at the time they could truly profit the most from bitcoin.

Peak Price of $20K was in Jan 2018, the price crashed to ~$3500 and confused people say it rose back to $10K,
so it is always growing. Duh! No it is not.   Tongue

The truth is the bubble popped at $20K,  all we have left now is Dead Cat Bounces, with lower prices in the future not higher.

Bitcoin has been in the shitter for over 2 years now, and there are NO signs of past glory returning, just a few mindless fanactics that drank the koolaid. Even the Peak price of 2018 was a manipulation by fractional reserve scam Tether Criminals.
https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2019/10/08/class-action-lawsuit-alleges-bitfinex-tether-cost-cryptocurrency-market-1-4t/

Don't tell people what bitcoin did in the past , tell them what it will do for them in the future, and bitcoin future is headed Down$!  Tongue

FYI:
Anyone thinking Bitcoin has 100X increases left in it , are sorely lacking in reality.

OK, first off, I'm not rich. I had the opportunity and I took it and got a little bit of profit. But I didn't get in it for the $$$. What got me into bitcoin, possibly in that order is:

1. I can send it to anyone over the internet without being stopped. I wanted to donate to Wiki leaks.
2. It can't be printed or loaned into existence by the banks.

and

3. It can be mined by pretty much anyone (that was especially true when I got in).

Bitcoin may or may not have 100X in it. But you know what will lose 100X guaranteed in the coming years? Try every major currency.

And I do tell people what bitcoin will do for them in the future and what it does for them in the present. And it's not about price. Price can go up or down or sideways or whatever.

Bitcoin itself can blow up, although I don't believe that. But the idea of bitcoin, and the vision. That is something that can't be taken back.

Would you bet, right here and right now. 0.1 BTC or $800 (if you win) that bitcoin won't reach another ATH in the next 10 years?

Johnny English is a really good comedy/action movie. It also has a nice arc.

All the early Scary Movie movies were also fun. And I really liked Epic Movie despite half the jokes being bad. That movie (Epic Movie) has been torn apart by critics for every single reason, it's an unpopular opinion to think it's good but it just works. I'd recommend it.

The first X-Men movies were also very good.
