3461  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another one bites the dust: Nuri (formerly Bitwala) on: October 25, 2022, 05:35:01 PM
I'm sure many of you have heard about Bitwala, the banking app that lets you trade crypto as well - it's like Skrill or Payoneer. They haven't let new customers in for ages. Sometime last year they went through a complete redesign and rebranded themselves as Nuri.
No profit means no business for Nuri, and I never used them so I can't say more about them even when they had old name Biwala.
Imagine when you get co-funded by the Horizon 2020 programm for European Union and you get bankrupt few years later Wink
I think that Skrill already partially supports Bitcoin, but does anyone know any other similar payment service that supports BTC payments?

At least millions of innocent users haven't lost everything in this particular case, but how depressing that the bar has been set that low. It is yet another warning that you should never be leaving coins with a third party.
I think that Nuri gambled a lot with shitcoins and leverage/yield trading investments, that is something that ruined many crypto related businesses in last few years of bear market, or maybe simply nobody really used their product.
3462  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] The Launch of Decentralized Crypto Payment Processor, ATLOS.io on: October 25, 2022, 05:25:09 PM
ATLOS is a decentralized, permissionless, non-custodial crypto payment processor.
Can we see source code for Altos? Is it open or closed source code?
I don't consider your Atlos project to be decentralized when it is built on top of centralized EVM blockchains that have built in censorship, and I am not even sure you are supporting Bitcoin for payments.
There is Bitcoin logo on your website but I don't know if this is Bitcoin mainnet or some tokens made up on shitcoin blockchains.
There are much better open source payments processors like Btcpayserver, CypherpunkPay and few others.
3463  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty managers and newbie bounty hunters on: October 25, 2022, 03:24:55 PM
If you require bounty spammers to have a higher rank, they'll spam other boards to fill up 30 posts and earn Merit. Please keep them isolated on the bounty boards!
They need to receive merits to get higher ranks and that is not so easy if someone is shitposting spam everywhere, and they will certainly get reported sooner or later.
I would suggest members to spend they merits more carefully, but you can't force newbies to stay isolated in bounty boards, unless some rule change happens.

Aren't managers usually paid in BTC or some other already listed currency? Well, at least those with some reputation.
Most of them accept Bitcoin, but you can check their individual topic pages to see what coins they accept for payment.
I know for a fact that Lauda accepted bunch of shitcoins like Elrond and others for his work (along with Bitcoin), but he probably sold them all for Bitcoin or fiat later.

So getting them to pay everyone in an established coin will be nearly impossible. Also like others have stated, there are plenty of no named managers who will always take a campaign no matter what their payment method is.
Every merchandise finds it's buyer, and it's like cat and mouse game, trying to sell this tokens on time.
No name managers with shitty campaigns are attracting no name spammers, so they are almost living in parallel bitcointalk universe.
I think we should have some rating for managers, and people should generally avoid participating in any campaigns that don't pay at least partially in escrowed Bitcoin.
3464  Economy / Reputation / Re: What Happen if bitcointalk member pass away? on: October 25, 2022, 02:54:20 PM
I do not know exactly him even have read his post and his thread. so what makes me interested is, what happen with his lending, does he still have to pay?, give it up?
He obviously can't pay for his lending anymore if he is dead, and it's up for the guy who lend him coins what he is going to do.
Some family members could probably pay this if they inherit his account with Bitcoin and will instructions, but I wouldn't count on that, and I don't like the idea of inheriting accounts.

But about the legality, their family, spouse or friend have no legal obligation the debt in most cases. It's different case if that person wish to keep asset which isn't fully paid yet or cosigned a loan with the deceased one.
Any debt is usually passed on spouse or other family members, but I have no idea how this would apply for coins someone borrowed in bitcointalk forum.
Legality of this is not cleat in many jurisdictions, and people could also remain private, not connecting bitcointalk account with their real identity.

Is this person's real full name known? Do we know 100% this isn't a scam where someone is trying to dodge repaying a debt? Can a death certificate be produced?
This sounds very much like deja vu case of Bruno aka Gleb Gamow aka Phinnaeus Gage  Tongue but I am certainly not expecting any death certificate will be produced here.
3465  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beware of fake Coinmarketcap! on: October 25, 2022, 02:37:36 PM
I was just browsing some random stuff on Google and then this appeared on my search. See image below.
This is not the first time scammers are making fake CMC websites and posting google ads for that.
My suggestion is to install some ad blocking extension like uBlock Origin, or just use browsers with integrated adblockers like Librewolf (based on Firefox) or Brave browser (based on Chromium).
With this you won't see most of the ads on all websites including youtube, but you can whitelist Bitcointalk forum Wink

So there it goes, not so unknown conclusion that many have been hacked through this. The forceful asking for the users to connect to their Metamask, Wallet Connect and other wallets before accessing into these fake websites and services lead the victims into stealing their funds.
Best solution for this is to stop using Metamask wallet, or at least double check url bar before connecting any website with wallets like this.
3466  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New and improved Trezor website on: October 24, 2022, 10:59:59 PM
Is it that popular to make a DIY Trezor?
While I really appreciate open-source hardware and do think that it significantly increases a hardware wallet's security and the trust therein, I highly doubt that enough people actually use this data to rebuild open-source hardware wallets from scratch, to skew the numbers significantly in any way.
Yeah it is somehow popular with geeks, but it's certainly not millions of people who are doing this.
Than just look all the wallets that are fork of Trezor, and they are selling millions of devices around the world, one of them is OneKey that is 100% Trezor software clone and it's most popular hardware wallet in China, believe it or not.
There is also PiTrezor DIY Wallet  that is using Trezor code with raspberry pi zero and other similar devices, I even remember some Russian mini-Trezor called Buratino or something like that  Cheesy
I even heard that someone made Trezor code modification that could work in any ESP32 devices, so sky is the limit...

You have a point, but similar to what @n0nce said earlier, I don't think that's going to reduce the gap in a significant way.
I never said this will close any gap, but I know for sure nobody is going to make ledger DIY device  Wink
3467  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ellipal on: October 24, 2022, 10:47:05 PM
Has anyone tested the new ellipal titan mini wallet?
No I didn't test it, and I don't know anyone who purchased this wallet.
I think they have nice price, and they are one of the cheapest air-gapped devices, but offering one more closed source hardware wallet is not what I am looking for.
There are cheaper DIY open source alternatives that are also air-gapped, like SeedSigner or Krux, and Jade wallet will soon become airgapped with upcoming firmware update.

They were essentially marketing a mobile phone on flight mode as a hardware wallet. This is incredible amateurish, if not borderline scammy, and is enough to mean I will never touch one of their devices, even if they say they have improved on all these things. Also, it is closed source.
Yeah, they pretty much ruined their reputation with this amateur move, but they can always try to improve in future.
However, I don't see anything special with this new Ellipal Mini version, and it's part of my list of wallet manufacturers to be avoided, along with Safepal that is also coming from China.
3468  Economy / Exchanges / Re: AltQuick.com - Exchange, Account less Swap, Faucet & Strong Affiliate Program! on: October 24, 2022, 10:36:59 PM
We will be adding Bitcoin Testnet to our faucet as well today or tomorrow.
You are trying to create value for something that doesn't have any monetary value, and I don't see why anyone would trade, buy or sell Testnet Bitcoin, but whatever.

Why did you change the name of exchange and topic title from FreeBitcoins to AltQuick.com?
3469  Other / Meta / Re: Will mods/admins approve of this? on: October 24, 2022, 10:16:22 PM
What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any suggestions?
In theory this sounds good and it could reduce number of cheating that is happening with social media bounty campaigns, but it would only slow them down (not saying that's a a bad thing).
They can always easily create new twitter account and start fresh with new ID number, same thing for all other social media accounts, except maybe Facebook that is harder to create new accounts.
I know that same thing could be done for Discord with ID numbers, but most people don't even know to find this ID numbers, so they would need to learn this.
Mods don't really care about this, but you could propose this to all bounty managers.
3470  Other / Off-topic / Re: What about a smartphone keyboard on: October 24, 2022, 10:03:42 PM
My question have been answered before about Keylogger and Clipboard hacks, they are 100%  real but every comments I read are talking about computers/PC only, can these hacks happen on a mobile smartphone too? Android phones to be precise.
I think it's much easier for keyloggers and clipboard malware to exist on smartphones than on computer devices.
Reason is that keyboard on modern smartphones is mostly software apps, and they can easily be changed with malicious version, most people probably wouldn't notice this.
In general I wouldn't use any smartphone for dealing with larger amounts of Bitcoin, and it's even better to use some open source alternatives like GrapheneOS, LineageOS, DivestOS or CalyxOS, with minimal amount of apps possible.

Ako mislite da je The Tinder Swindler lud, trebao bi onda pogledati i The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman, o Britanskom prevarantu Robert Hendy-Freegard.

-For All Mankind: alternativna povijest, rusi su sletjeli prvi na mjesec tako da se svemirska utrka nastavlja i dalje. Meni odlicno jer sam i inace fan alternativne povijesti a posto ima jako malo serija na tu temu (pada mi jedino na pamet takodjer dobra serija The Man in the High Castle koja se poigrava idejom da su svabe pobijedile u ww2.) nema biranja.
Gledao sam i ja seriju For All Mankind i nije loša, volim i ja taj žanr, jedan od poznatijih takvih filmova je i Fatherland iz 1994 sa Rutger Hauer, a ima ih još sigurno.

I kao sto prigodno ide u ovakvoj sitaciji; the king is dead, long live the king!

3474  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: AirGapped Hardware Wallets on: October 22, 2022, 08:40:50 PM
It's finally time to add one more airgapped hardware wallet in this topic, and that is Jade wallet after upcoming firmware update.
Jade always had camera in their EPS32 device and they just waited for software update to add support for QR codes and camera compatibility.
Someone on Twitter posted this VIDEO how this would work with Jade device.
Some argue that Jade is not really airgapped because of connection with Blockstream server, but that is debatable.

3475  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New and improved Trezor website on: October 22, 2022, 08:25:29 PM
And honestly speaking I do not really understand why one support other coins than other. At the end it should depend on software wallet, no? I find a bit misleading fact that hardware wallet supports XXXX coins while Trezor Suite (dedicated software from the producer) just a few.
I don't care at all about shitcoins they support and Trezor even has Bitcoin-only firmware, I think it is much safer to use like that.
It should be mentioned that only coin people could possibly miss from Trezor One in Monero, that is available on Model T.
Trezor Suite with all it0's flaws is 100x better wallet app than LedgerLive and all other apps in hardware wallets.

Considering that Ledger had 5M+ sales already, I was expecting the number to be a bit higher for Trezor, but looks like I was wrong.
You can add much more people who care about their privacy, and who made their own Trezor DIY hardware wallets.
Everything is available on their github page, you can download, print and order every part, than assemble it on your own.
That is impossible to do with closed source ledger device.
3476  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: QR codes vs NFC in Bitcoin Wallets on: October 22, 2022, 08:02:57 PM
Reasons
With that kind of thinking you should not use anything written in code, because you can't read it, so it's best for you to move in and start to live in some cave.
Don't use phones, computers, wallets, and any electronic device, maybe join Amish community or Bushmen in Africa.
I don't see what your post has to do with topic subject, that is QR codes vs NFC in Bitcoin Wallets.

SeedSigner also use same format under name SeedQR and CompactSeedQR[2].
I know they are supporting it, but Seedsigner is not supporting static qr codes which means it can't work properly with Electrum wallet.  Tongue
3477  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalCryptos is shutting down on: October 22, 2022, 07:46:57 PM
LocalCryptos announced a few hours, that it will be closing its doors: https://twitter.com/LocalCryptosEN/status/1583605719604920320

AFAIK, the exchange had the highest trading volume (compared to the other P2P non-KYC exchanges) so this is definitely sad to see them shutting down.
Shit, one more non-kyc p2p trading place is going down  Tongue
I don't understand why they would do this now, unless they are having some problems related with kyc regulations.
In blog they are claiming there are multiple reasons, like personal health, anticipated downtrend in cryptocurrency markets, and challenging developments... but I think this is mostly bs.
Instead of closing down they could try selling their business to someone else who could continue their work and maybe improve it.
3478  Economy / Reputation / Re: About My Red Trust (Remove Request) on: October 22, 2022, 07:32:35 PM
JollyGood leave me red trust
Oh good luck trying to get feedback removed that is made from member mentioned above Tongue but I am not saying it's impossible to happen.
Lauda account is already ''dead'' in bitcointalk so it doesn't really matter, but other member is sadly still a DT member.
Your post history is not that great, and you came back after longer period of inactivity, so I suggest you just continue using this account now and prove you improved your posting.
You should also listen to LoyceV suggestion on using your trust feedback.
3479  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bounty managers and newbie bounty hunters on: October 22, 2022, 07:21:07 PM
I'd like to start a discussion on Bounty managers allowing Newbies to join in bounties. How does everyone feel about that?
If I was a manager I honestly would never accept newbies in my campaigns, unless not until I investigate their post history and establish they are worth including.
This would be in very rear occasions, and I would wait until they rank up and show some real effort for improving.

1. No more allowing Newbies in campaigns. Make newbies rank up and have something to lose if they're gonna cheat.
Yeah, it's probably best to stop accepting all newbies in bounty campaigns, but this rule should be accepted by all managers.
I think this is impossible to implement, and someone could always become new manager and play outside this rules.
This would mean that moderators would have to make this a new unofficial forum rule, if possible.

2. No neg trusted accounts can join period
This is tricky.
You can't look all negative trust feedbacks equally, and we know there are some people who enjoy tagging everyone, and they are still in DT Tongue
Maybe think about not allowing anyone who has more than one negative trust feedback would be better, but not perfect.

Now, what about managers? Should we tag managers who are outright being dishonest by allowing Newbies? Or tag managers who really aren't caring about the forum? Should we just hope they will try to make a change? Or does anything really matter?
I would create some kind of ratting system for managers, and managers with lower ratings could have limited amount of campaigns they can create.
Highest ratings would have everything unlocked, but ratings can be changed anytime.
However, this idea needs to discussed and checked for all the pros and cons.
3480  Economy / Reputation / Re: A large bounty hunter farm (67 or more). on: October 22, 2022, 07:06:49 PM
+67 Accounts Connected
Accounts Connected: (Note: Banned shown in red / Inactive in Blue)
Very good research on finding this farm cheaters @lovesmayfamilis.
I just don't have the nerve myself to dig and investigate things like this anymore.

Ok, so good job on catching all these newbies I suppose but now what? You just tagged 67 newbie accounts and it will stop nothing. That just means that this user will now create 67 other newbie accounts and continue the cycle.
It will at least slow this farmers down, and eventually it could stop some of them.
They will have to spend more time creating new accounts and starting everything from zero.
But I agree with you that this is just part of work for cleaning the forum, other part should be on bounty managers, maybe we should implement some kind of rating for managers.
