2521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Case: The Real, Untold Story. Is Karpelčs Satoshi or DPR? on: February 15, 2023, 09:42:18 PM
Then again: why would Youtube censorship take action here? What was the problem with that video (assuming there was a problem with it)...?
Idk, ask g00gle and their sponsors.
They can ban anything if it doesn't agree with the mainstream narrative, that includes anything related with bitcoin and silk road.

How did you manage to find it? Excepting that, have you watched it too?
I didn't use chatGPT Ai, just good old style internet search, and if you couldn't find it than you are probably using some ''normie'' search engines that are all messed up now.
I found several results using Brave search, SearX, and few other alternative search engines.
2522  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Suite Update. [23.2.1] on: February 15, 2023, 09:33:43 PM
Just one hint if you are using Trezor Suite application, you can enable experimental feature Early Access Program and receive this updates early for testing.
You can leave this program anytime if you no longer want priority access to new features.

I don't think taproot is well used at the moment and I think it was satoshi labs that were trying to make their own coinjoin/privacy based service too so those are both very proactive improvements that might not be used yet but will have been around for so long when they are that they'll have the added security of that (if the code is older, there's likely more people to have seen it and audited it).
You couldn't be more wrong about Taproot usage... it has been used more than ever and I have chart to prove that.
Now that may be for silly reasons of using ordinals, putting rocks, stones and monkey images on bitcoin blockchain, but it is what it is.
It's going to be used much more in future for real stuff after this hype wave is gone.

2523  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: frozenkrill: a minimalist Bitcoin wallet focused on cold storage on: February 15, 2023, 09:25:13 PM
If you have any questions please ask.
Welcome to bitcointalk forum!
Are you developer or contributor for frozenkrill walle, and if you are I was wondering why choosing that name for wallet?
This looks like interesting alternative for cold wallet, but whats the difference and advantage compared to using let's say Electrum wallet offline?
2524  Economy / Reputation / Re: My Interview with Famous Hardware Hacker Joe Grand aka Kingpin on: February 15, 2023, 09:07:27 PM
He knows about the attack and the people who carried it out. But he is no longer chasing and breaking devices to get a bounty. He did that for most part of his career even before companies started paying money for it. If and when he discovers a vulnerability, he reports it to the manufacturers and releases an official report once the issue has been resolved.
Thank you for asking him and writing his fast reply.
I was asking about OneKey wallet because they use forked Trezor code, but I guess he earned good money from his previous gigs like this.
He is probably working on other stuff now, and I just checked his youtube channel and I saw he was working on his thinnest boombox project... he is a bit weird, but I like his style.
2525  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: February 15, 2023, 08:53:29 PM
Since this change requires a lot of work and time (especially to update the database entries), I want to know if anyone has anything against the idea
Using ID  instead of username is much better, so I have nothing against this idea, unless it messes up with older links.
For example if I saved archived post I don't want to see this link being broken after you introduce this changes, so maybe you need to link them somehow.
If this is not the case, than you can go for it Wink

2526  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Temp lock Bitvest.io thread (prevent spam) on: February 15, 2023, 08:35:14 PM
777coin website is offline due to technical issues, and lightlord was not online in forum for months... so I am afraid to say that he may never come back in forum. Sad
However, if I don't think moderators should lock any of his threads until someone can verify that lightlord is not alive anymore.
I don't know about any threads from other member being locked for similar reasons.

If someone is wondering what happened with lightlord health check out one of his archived posts.
2527  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: February 15, 2023, 08:09:23 PM
Small update:
It seems that "CoinMarketCap explorer" no longer supports Bitcoin [the same goes for Ethereum and Litecoin]!
What a circus show explorer this is...
They are now using this explorer only for binance bsc chain, and it's nothing strange if you know that CoinMarketCap is owned by Binance exchange and CZ.
Maybe their next step will be to say that bitcoin token on this chain is better than real Bitcoin, but I think they could soon stop using BUSD stable coin soon on this explorer, after Paxos problems Wink

LocalBitcoins is shutting down, so this is probably the reason why explorer will be permanently unavailable.
2528  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: Malicious PyPi package found, replacing crypto related addresses on: February 15, 2023, 08:01:06 PM
So just be careful downloading any chrome extension that is related to crypto, check everything. Maybe A VM will do to at least minimized the risk. Do not be lazy in protecting our crypto assets.
This malicious package is porbably affecting wind0ws OS, so best protection is to change operating system to open source Linux or closed source MacOS.
As for web browsers I would install only minimal amount of extensions, something like uBlock Origin is a good idea, but I wouldn't experiment with random add-ons.
I would also use separate computer device to use for bitcoin wallets, than you will be much more protected from most malware attacks.

2529  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: February 15, 2023, 02:10:32 PM
2530  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: February 15, 2023, 11:54:16 AM
A ti onda uzmi 101 komad zbog popusta  Cheesy

Svi open source hardverski novčanici imaju više ovakvih javnih bugova jer nemaju potpisan NDA kao ledger i drugi close source novčanici.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=955417

Cheesy
Ne nisam. osim možda u nekoj paralelnoj stvarnosti.
Pisao sam više o tom OneKey hacku:

2531  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novosti on: February 14, 2023, 11:01:58 PM
2532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Chokepoint 2.0 (Biden's administration quitet ban on crypto) on: February 14, 2023, 10:37:10 PM
Fast forward 10 years: Biden's administration (who was a vice president under Obama for those who don't know) is trying to do the same to the crypto sector. This is nicely explained by Nic Carter in this article:
https://www.piratewires.com/p/crypto-choke-point
It's obvious that US administration started fighting on all fronts with everything that has any connection with fiat and crypto, that includes banks with their cards, all p2p platforms (several shut down recently), and centralized exchanges are under pressure for some time.
To me it's clear why they are doing this, they are working hard to remove cash from all countries (it already started in Nigeria), and introduce their shitty CBDC projects as poor replacement everywhere.
They can't do that fully until they control Bitcoin to fiat money flow as much as they can, but they also tried banning torrents for years and look at their poor results with that example.
2533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silk Road Case: The Real, Untold Story. Is Karpelčs Satoshi or DPR? on: February 14, 2023, 10:28:45 PM
Even more importat: why was it eliminated even from the website of Free Ross foundation? If, for some reason, the websites hosting the material could choose to restrict public access to it (although it seems hard to believe that all those websites took this decision), still the question remains: why doesn't it appear anymore even on the site of the organization meant to support Ross?
I don't know who owns that website, but it's obvious why they removed that page on website after it was removed from public youtube video.
There are other videos available on that website that still support Ross, and I see they are still active on social media.

Were all these websites pressured or threatened by agencies?
It's possible that youtube channel owner who uploaded that video received strike warning from youtube censorship team, so he decided to make it private.
I am sure you can find that video reuploaded on other channels, or on alternative video platforms that are not supported and controlled by people who would want to control this.
You can chek and confirm if video posted below are the same as original video:

Here is one reupload on youtube:

And same video uploaded on odysee:

2534  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Devices 'Passport Batch 2' hardware wallet review on: February 14, 2023, 09:33:06 PM
Regarding suppliers in general, we stick with the ones that do good work for us, and we look for new ones in areas where we are not satisfied. I think the only real way to evaluate a supplier is to run a batch of parts through them and see the output – and of course see how they respond to feedback and iterate.
I know you told us there are no plans for making new devices in near future, but one of my suggestions would be to consider making Passport waterproof or water resistant device.
This probably needs a lot of work in redesign of inside, but even cheaper solutions like waterproof cases for protection would be interesting, and you could sell them separately.
I already know several hardware wallets that started making waterproof devices, so better think about that on time.
2535  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: OneKey Hardware Wallet HACKED! on: February 14, 2023, 09:09:24 PM
Based on what I'm seeing under the "Bug Severity and Bounties" part of OneKey's program, I believe it means they were dealing with more than a single bug [perhaps we're not seeing the whole picture]!
Or their bug founding was so big and important that OneKey decided to pay them extra reward to make them happy and (more silent) not so critical Wink
I want to see researchers like this testing all other hardware wallets, because I am sure they could earn more money.

You have a point, but the main issue is the fact that an average joe like me, doesn't have the necessary skills & knowledge to deal with such cases [unfortunately].
Average Joe probably can't do that for firmware, but luckily it's easier for developers to do it when wallet is open source.

I would have not expected these news to come from China, to be honest. In my eyes, China is kinda a black hole if we talk about Bitcoin technology, gadgets, wallets and other tools.
Believe it or not, most of the hardware devices and chips are coming from China, so they are far from being a black hole.
We already know that Ledger is made in China (and assembled in France village), Keystone is made in China, Safepal is made in China, and others that are less known.
OneKey is most popular hardware wallets in China, some repots say they sold over 100,000 devices.

Also, If I recall correctly Trezor wallets have a similar problem with physical attacks, back in the day after the Kraken video about that vulnerability, Satoshilabs suggested the use of a passphrase to mitigate the risk. Cannot all the Trezor based wallets do the same?
This is totally different from Trezor devices because they still don't have any secure elements, so it's logical that there is no communication between chips.

It seems to me that the consequences of such hacks are overestimated. Hardware wallet continue to protect the security of crypto assets million users (online). For this it are needed. And if the attackers have gained physical access to HW, then it will no longer matter whether they use the help of a hacker or a $5 wrench attack.
It doesn't have to be hackers, it can be any regular lowlife thief or government parasite agents that finds or confiscates hardware wallet.
Knowing they could hack it in one second would be nice surprise for them, especially in China.

If I create the BEST and MOST SECURE hardware wallet on the planet. BUT I make it all closed source and remove all marking from all the chips so you can't see what they are.
Yeah, especially if you sign NDA with your partners, and create black box operating system for secure element, like some manufacturers are already doing Wink
2536  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blender.io = Sinbad.io | Thoughts? on: February 14, 2023, 07:50:02 PM
I think I was the first person who asked that question to Sinbad in forum few days ago, if there are any connections with Blender and Sinbad mixer, but they still didn't reply anything so far.
There are many similarities if you compare this two mixing services, but I would still like to hear what Sinbad has to say about this.
We are not officials working for government agency so we won't sanction and judge anyone Wink

@Sinbad can you say more about claims I found posted on twatter by ErgoBTC.
They claim that Sinbad mixer is working very similar like previously sanctioned Blender, with only difference being use of script type bech32 instead of P2SH.
There are also claims of abusing coinjoins services like Wasabi and Whirlpool with purpose of fooling analytics.
More information and links of transactions can be found in public, but they basically say that Blender is now Sinbad:
https://twitter.censors.us/ErgoBTC/status/1624415264103190528#m

Why not just come out of maintenance and continue with the service as normal?
It's obvious why, to mitigate sanctions and operate as long as they can under new domain name.
2537  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Doing some work for Saxydev, Earned $90 but Never received the Payment.  on: February 14, 2023, 07:11:29 PM
after hearing suggestions from some of you guys.
i decided to open flag against saxydev.
fell free to support/oppose the flag.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=3112
I supported the flag against saxydev, but I still hope you will receive coins you earned, and I can't wait to hear his reply after he comes back from that mysterious brb holiday vacation.
One question for you c0ldbrewz, since you said that you don't know much about monero, who exactly asked for payment for your work to be sent in XMR instead of BTC or some other coin?
2538  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New HW wallet announced: COLDCARD Q1 on: February 13, 2023, 05:54:08 PM
I could not disagree more. Most of people already have those, probably, and even if not I don't see why you could not buy these separately. Imho there's no need to endlessly litter the planet with these when (at least in my experience) they mostly just end up in the bin.
Oh I see... you are one of those guys who is going to ''save the planet'' by paying more money for chargers and cables, sorry but I won't fall for that scam Tongue
We are talking about brand new hardware wallet here, and I am certainly won't pay more money to Coldcard for their special cables, and I am sure they are going to sell them separately with batteries as accessories.

But few smartphone brand include poor quality USB cable and some people use/store their USB cable carelessly, So i feel a bit annoyed they expect customer have USB cable with acceptable quality when $199 no longer in cheap category for HW wallet.
And they forgot many people still have microUSB cables for their phones, but I guess that doesn't matter...
2539  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Foundation Devices 'Passport Batch 2' hardware wallet review on: February 13, 2023, 05:45:49 PM
My preference for now would be to drive down costs via higher volumes and manufacturing optimizations, as opposed to releasing a new low-end device (at least in near term). I'd love to get Passport's price point to $199.
I think that would be more than fair price for Passport, especially when compared with hardware wallets from competition, Coldcard is from $149 to $199, Trezor is from $69 to $219, Ledger is from $85 to $300, Keystone from $119 to $169, etc.
However, I would really like to see Foundation offering several devices with different prices, so people could choose for themselves what they want.

Sorry dkbit98, the email notifications on BitcoinTalk are pretty bad, I will just keep it open in a tab in my browser and check frequently. You guys have a great community here, hoping to participate in more discussions.
No problem, we finally managed to get in contact Wink
Email notifications works fine for me for PM, but when someone mentiones your name in post Telegram bot @BTTSuperNotifier_bot is working great.
2540  Other / Meta / Re: [REQUEST] Tor .onion v3 hidden site on: February 13, 2023, 05:09:04 PM
Why not?
I said probably, mostly because of login feature, and because Bitcointalk is registered and operated in US, there could be some other issues related with rules and regulations.
I don't know any other forum that works both on clearnet and onion domain, but I could be wrong about this.

I just checked, and indeed didn't notice. My Tor browser works fine.
I didn't know your browser had detection for Tor ddos attacks...
It's easy to visit status page on Tor website and you will see why I said this:
