Ha!  Trump is a liberal NY real estate developer.  He is the most pro-gay President EVER.

Only the progressive left Marxists label anyone to the right of themselves a Nazi.  What this does is dilute how bad real Nazis were and are.

Because pro-gay presidents ban LGBT from the military?

Where do you find your logic?

Please explain
382  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Nazi's infesting America on: August 17, 2017, 01:31:04 PM
Please don't twist the facts. Trump didn't endorsed the Nazis. That's a complete lie. He blamed both the neo-Nazis and the Antifa for the violence. And he condemned the murder of Heather Heyer in the strongest language possible.

Funny, I haven't seen a single video of Antifa being violent

I did see a video of a car running over 20 people, driven by a Nazi

I did see a video of a black man being beat unconscious by Nazis with clubs

I did see a video of Nazis rushing Antifa and punching them in the face (one Nazi even punched a GIRL in the FACE!)

There was not violence on "both sides"... If you claim there was violence, and have zero evidence, you are the one who is lying

What about the numerous vacations that Obama took while he was the president? Even when the Benghazi attacks were happening, Obama was busy playing golf at his private residence in Hawaii.

And GW Bush was on vacation during both 9/11 and hurricane Katrina... what is your point?

Do you really want to compare Obama vs Trump?!? (this tells me you haven't done any research)

Trump on pace to surpass 8 years of Obama's travel spending in 1 year

386  Other / Politics & Society / Poll: Which country will USA attack/bomb/invade next? on: August 16, 2017, 03:28:52 PM
If I missed any countries that are likely to be attacked by USA, comment and I will try to add it to the poll

I did not include the 7 countries which USA is currently bombing (because the question was next country, not current countries):
Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and Pakistan
387  Other / Politics & Society / Nazi's infesting America on: August 16, 2017, 03:12:26 PM
If you haven't heard the news about Nazi's in Charlottesville, google it

Then google Trump's response (spoiler: Trump endorses Nazis)

388  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to? on: August 16, 2017, 03:23:51 AM
If it is the command of god then I will do it, like the story of one of the prophets who almost killed with his father because for the sacrifice, before being killed finally god lowered the goat instead, eventually it was just a test to test the faith of his people.

I have an idea you may be referencing Genesis 22 where God commands Abraham to sacrifice his son of promise, Isaac? If you are implicitly referring to this story, then it's not as straightforward as it seems, namely a deranged old psycho trying to murder his son, if taken form the standpoint of the complete context (whole story) of which this particular chapter forms only a small part, and also taken within the larger religio-cultural context and time frame the story is told, which is ancient to say the least. First off, the boy's mother conceived the child at a miraculous age of 91. Second, a covenant was made wholly by El Shaddai (17:2 I will make a covenant between us..) which is also quite unusual according to the customs of ancient middle east. The nuanced details that color the the background to the developing plot of sacrifice of the boy-of-covenant-promise in chapter 22 is actually heart wrenchingly beautiful once you understand the whole context of the ancient tale, since it underscores quite dramatically what complete trust is all about. The story's main focus is not about (and never was intended to be about) killing of a son, but about whether Abraham completely trusted God. It is reasoned by some religious people that the story implicates the faith that Abraham must have had in God's ability to resurrect Isaac from the dead.

PS: the problem with religious texts is that they are often taken literally as part of divine doctrinal mandate and then all sorts of bad things start to happen when believers apply those mandates as set forth in their holy books. I do not support the text as having any "divine inspiration" to be obeyed to the letter. It is, at best, an intriguing tale of an imaginary powerful deity and his relationship with one of his most faithful followers.

Epic review of The Binding of Isaac! (עֲקֵידַת יִצְחַק)

I lol'd @deranged old psycho trying to murder his son, but I would have put more emphasis on how crazy a person has to be to drag their son to the top of a mountain, bind his son to a sacrificial table and take out the knife...

note: In the story god replaces Isaac with a ram, not a goat as a previous reviewer suggested

Everyone has his/her own perspective about God and relillgion...
Yes, i think someone can still be good eventhough they dont have God in their life...
But being good with God on your life is far above compared to simply being good without him.
With God on your life you cant easily be swayed when challenging situations come in.
You would stand firm aince you know that you have God by your side....

The same goes for Santa Claus....

You want to be good to get the free presents, right?

Santa Claus invented Jesus...

But humans invented Santa Claus...

Did humans invent god, or did god invent humans?

We seriously are having this thread?

Let people believe what they want to believe!

If you have faith on God (Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, etc), so be it.

If you are an atheist, so be it.

Let people do whatever they want which makes them happy without hurting anyone.

Did you read the OP?

How many anti-atheist threads are on this forum?  10?  100?  1000?

Fair is fair... fuck off

I agree with every words you say, but why tackle Christianity only?
...

I'm against ignorance, lies, raping children, books which promote slavery, bigotry, xenophobia, etc, etc, etc

There are really only 2 religious groups that are acting like dicks... christians and muslims

Muslims are not creating dozens of anti-atheist threads... christians are

So I created an anti-christian thread... acting like a mirror... so hopefully christians can see what they look like to outsiders
392  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good without a god on: August 15, 2017, 05:20:46 PM
I don't know how we can differentiate what is good and bad without a God, because we will not have a basis. If we will depend on our own views of what is good and evil, then goodness will vary from one person to another which is ofcourse biased by personal beliefs and cultural background. If we try to broaden our undersranding to other beliefs, then everything will be called "good" in the end, which may not make sense.

It's called philosophy... many have tried it in the past... you can try it too

Let's start with Immanuel Kant's Universalized Maxim:
"What if everybody did that?"

Example 1, Murder... What if everybody did that?
Answer: Everyone dies highlander style as society crumbles... ergo, murder is bad... mkay?

All this is possible without god... I don't need some dusty book to tell me murder is bad... I can figure that out on my own, its quite simple

Besides the fact that relying on the bible for moral guidance, as others have pointed out, can end up with you in prison... the bible commands its followers to murder people for all sorts of reasons (rape, unruly children, witches, homosexuals, other religions, etc)... if you follow the bible literally, you WILL go to prison... that is NOT good moral guidance

394  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Poll: Most dangerous country in the world at the moment on: August 15, 2017, 04:59:17 PM
Obviously USA...

Why isn't USA on your list?

USA has the most prisoners per capita (most crime)
USA has the most gun murders every year (most violent crime)

USA has been voted the greatest threat to world peace: (most international wars)
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-08-07/us-greatest-threat-peace-world-today-new-poll-finds

It is even dangerous to get sick in USA... nearly 1 out of every 100 people declares bankruptcy every year due to medical expenses... think about that, 1% of the country has a medical bankruptcy each year... if you live to be 100 years old, what are your chances of having a hospital take ALL your money? 100%?

396  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why can't religious people spell words correctly? on: August 14, 2017, 11:51:54 PM

Don't be too harsh on them, maybe they were just so excited with what they're posting that they did not notice their typo errors. I mean, it does happen. Or maybe like me English is not their native language that's why they are making these mistakes.

No, it's not that they are excited and didn't notice...

It's a common theme... I have MANY debates with religious people, and 75% of them constantly spell words wrong, simple words, like lose vs loose

Here is an example where a christian asshole isn't leaving a tip because of the waitress' "tatoo"

How do you misspell a 6 letter word like tattoo?!?

Why didn't Jesus help you spell properly?

WWJD?  Would Jesus have ignored the tattoo and tipped the waitress?

It is not just once in a while, it's nearly every person and nearly every sentence has spelling errors... it's an epidemic... it makes me sad how uneducated religious bigots are

Well, that note does look bad. English is not my first language so I can probably get a pass but I suppose this happened in America. The funny thing about this situation is that being LGBT doesn't automatically mean you're an atheist. Plenty of gay people out there who are still religious and still go to church.

The girl in the photo with the tattoo, is a Christian, and does attend church... the irony is thick
397  Other / Off-topic / Re: Transgenders. on: August 14, 2017, 11:32:32 PM
For clarification they are not born like that. It's their choice to be an LGBT member. They should have known the consequences when they enter that kind of world, so, they couldn't blame anyone who doesn't fully accept them as a member of society.

People who think being LGBT is a choice are morons

Throughout history, LGBT have been outcast, murdered, raped, imprisoned, tortured, etc... and they still are today

Who would "choose" that?!?

Are you mental?!?
398  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Thoughts and prayers on: August 14, 2017, 11:26:48 PM
Is that two (or more?) thoughts and 1 prayer (counting as >1) or 2 (or >2?) prayers and one thought (counting as more than one)?

Or are all 3 named, "Thoughts and Prayers"?

Or maybe 1 is named Thoughts, 1 named And, and 1 named Prayers?

Either way, Thoughts and Prayers are useless... It has been scientifically proven

As of 2015, the catholic church has spent over $4 BILLION defending pedophile priests...

The Catholic Church Has Paid Out $3,994,797,060.10 as a Result of the Sex Abuse Scandals
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2015/11/04/the-catholic-church-has-paid-out-3994797060-10-as-a-result-of-the-sex-abuse-scandals/

I am sure that the vast majority of this amount was spent on defending the pedophile clerics. A few months back, there was a news story from Mexico. A Catholic priest had raped some 30 orphaned indigenous girls in the state of Oaxaca. Unfortunately, the priest himself was HIV positive, and he probably passed on the disease to many of his victims. The last time I heard, the Catholic church was spending huge amounts for the legal defense and medical treatment of the priest. But there was no mention about the victims anywhere.

http://www.carbonated.tv/news/mexico-hiv-infected-priest-walks-free-sex-crime-30-girls

The vast majority of the $4 BILLION was paid in settlements out of court to the victims (the rest was spent on lawyers)... the priests were not sent to prison, and did not even lose their jobs... they are all still priests working at other churches... that's how the Vatican operates... bribe the victims, and keep the priest out of jail... seems very unholy/immoral/evil to me

Shouldn't the Vatican be interested in putting these priests in prison?  Draining the swamp?  Saving $4 Billion?

Why do they waste insane amounts of money to keep monsters out of prison?

Why do they support these monsters?

Why to Catholics still support the Vatican?!?

This whole mess is just insane to me... If I was a member of an organization that spent $4 Billion defending child molesters, I'd leave that organization... I would not care if they said I would go to hell if I left, they are clearly evil people, and liars
400  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Atheism brougth us nothing good! on: August 13, 2017, 12:53:31 PM
While it is true that there is no definitive atheistic worldview, all atheists share the same fundamental beliefs as core to their personal worldviews. While some want to state that atheism is simply a disbelief in the existence of a god, there really is more to it. Every expression of atheism necessitates at least three additional affirmations:

1. The universe is purely material. It is strictly natural, and there is no such thing as the supernatural (e.g., gods or spiritual forces).

2. The universe is scientific. It is observable, knowable and governed strictly by the laws of physics.

3. The universe is impersonal. It does not a have consciousness or a will, nor is it guided by a consciousness or a will.

Denial of any one of those three affirmations will strike a mortal blow to atheism. Anything and everything that happens in such a universe is meaningless. A tree falls. A young girl is rescued from sexual slavery. A dog barks. A man is killed for not espousing the national religion. These are all actions that can be known and explained but never given any meaning or value.

A good atheist — that is, a consistent atheist — recognizes this dilemma. His only reasonable conclusion is to reject objective meaning and morality. Thus, calling him “good” in the moral sense is nonsensical. There is no morally good atheist, because there really is no objective morality. At best, morality is the mass delusion shared by humanity, protecting us from the cold sting of despair.

Why do christians think they know so much about atheists? (not that it should be difficult to understand a lack of belief... but you just don't get it)

You realize agnostics are also atheists... right? (so much for your "3 additional affirmations")

As for your point about atheists not being good, I object

Atheists are the only "good" people... Atheists are good people because they want society to be a better place for everyone... Atheists realize the benefit of being good over evil... Atheists are good because they love humanity

Christians are only good because they fear god... they are not acting out of love, but acting from fear of retribution from a non-existent sky-god... this is not being "good", it is being "selfish"... Christians act for selfish reasons, so they can go to heaven, so god won't punish them...

Atheists have no god... Atheists are good people because they are compassionate... not because they are selfish and afraid of what some sky-god might do to them

Quote from: Richard Dawkins
If You’re Only Moral Because of God, “I Don’t Want To Know You”

tl;dr - If you are only moral because you are afraid of hell... you don't understand morality... morality comes from philosophy and an understanding of civilized society... not dictated by some 3000 year old desert dwelling tribe claiming a sky-god told them so
