Since the civil war, federal law overrides state law...

In California, the state let them run dispensaries... the Feds (DEA) would shut them down

In Colorado, the state police set up a barricade at the border... they told the DEA if they tried that shit in Colorado they would shoot them... they did not call the bluff, so we don't know if they really would have started a new civil war over it or not
1365  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Socialism losing against Capitalism? on: April 10, 2016, 03:59:12 AM
I say this because it's true...

You are still going on and on about me, rather than the argument which I presented

The differences between the systems are minor, and no country is just one or the other, all countries are a mixture of socialism and capitalism

Furthermore, the countries which are better or worse have little to do with economic policy and everything to do with corruption

The problems tend to lie with individual people, rather than any problem inherent in either system of governance

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely

The downfall of EU has nothing to do with socialism and everything to do with countries like Greece and religion...

The countries which do the best are the most secular (non-religious)... America just happens to be in that category... it's success has more to do with secularism than capitalism
1366  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Socialism losing against Capitalism? on: April 10, 2016, 03:25:07 AM
I am simply pointing out the differences between the two systems...

You are attacking me personally (ad-hominem) rather than attacking my argument

What's with the personal attacks?  Are you 12?

If you believe capitalism is better... bring some facts and evidence, not insults
1367  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Socialism losing against Capitalism? on: April 10, 2016, 02:04:07 AM
You just said Socialism works and that Capitalism is corrupt and in the same thread just said that the leader of a country you assume to be Socialist a leader of one of them was forced to resign over tax evasion. If there's one thing I've learned on my short time on my planet is the biggest difference between Socialists and Capitalists is that the majority of Socialists are brazen and insufferable hypocrites while Capitalists aren't, at least they don't lie about their intentions and just want to make money.

Stop bullshitting me and trying to make it out as if I'm in the wrong when I point out you are, you aren't going to convince me of anything by lying.

Apparently you didn't read, so I'll repeat it...

Rich people are corrupt in every country... the difference is, America built tax-havens into the system, so they don't need Panama to do their dirty work... Delaware does that job for America...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_haven

Quote
Within the United States, Delaware is considered the pre-eminent corporate haven for both domestic and foreign large public corporations, while Nevada, Wyoming, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands are corporate havens for small closed corporations.

Also... when the banks destroyed the economy... America handed them even more money... Iceland put the bankers in jail

Capitalism is corruption at its finest

I've spent a lot of time in America but still don't get the state vs federal thing. Can anyone spell out how you can be selling it openly yet it's still classified by the DEA as a Bad Thing?

People have a difficult time admitting they were wrong...

People have a hard time letting go... They will fight until the end...

It's always about the money (everything in life is always about the money)

Yeah yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

Sounds like something a man might say when he's wrong and doesn't have a legitimate response...

The difference between socialism and capitalism is simple:

The leader of Iceland (socialist country) was just forced to resign because he used Mossack Fonseca...

Americans are not on the list from Mossack Fonseca... do you know why?

In America (capitalist country), the billionaires do not need to outsource their corruption to Panama for tax evasion... all they need is to set up the corporation in Delaware... we have corruption built into the system... no need for a 3rd-party country to hide our assets... we're openly corrupt in America
1370  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Socialism losing against Capitalism? on: April 10, 2016, 01:25:03 AM
It is fucking worse than America, while America's not great by any means and it's going to collapse along with the rest of Europe acting as if socialism is some fucking paragon of economics and is bringing joy and happiness to the world is a total fucking lie and nobody here is pretending that Capitalism is perfect so pretending as if Socialism is great is fucking disingenuous at best. Go and look at the country called Venezuela, that is what happens when you have a country that decides to go fully socialist, I will not be dragged into your bullshit ideology by force if I don't want to when there are so many examples of it failing miserably.

Also, at least in America people still have the 2nd Amendment despite constant attempts by the left to get rid of it so they can defend themselves, meanwhile in Europe we are completely fucked if people decide to go on a rampage.

Venezuela is one of the countries that America has bankrupted for profit...

Their hyperinflation is a direct result of American meddling

Honestly, the fucking denial is unbelievable.

You act like its worse than America...

You don't think American leaders are doing the same and worse?  American leaders bankrupt other countries for profit...

1373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Capitalism Is Jewish Usury on: April 09, 2016, 11:12:16 PM
I agree with usury being a problem, but you cannot seriously blame everything on Jews...  Christians invented banking...  the first bank was the Knights Templar
...
Scapegoat much?

Actually babylonians invented the first forms of banking, then egyptians, greeks and romans further developed the idea. Roman banks were pretty much similar to modern banks. In India and China they also developed banks with similar functionality in the ancient times. The lombard banking houses just revitalized an ancient practice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_banking#Emergence_of_merchant_banks

Quote
Banking, in the modern sense of the word, is traceable to medieval and early Renaissance Italy, to rich cities in the north such as Florence, Venice, and Genoa.

The original banks were "merchant banks" that Italian grain merchants invented in the Middle Ages.

I think the polytheists would disagree with you. Why do you think they're wrong and you're right? What's the science behind choosing one god over many?

Genesis 1:1 clearly states that there are multiple gods

Elohim created the universe, not El or Yahweh, but Elohim (plural)

Christianity has a method of changing multiplicity into unary by means of a Mystery (eg the trinity) so I don't expect logical argument about that.

Sure, I understand they don't care, but I do

Every other time the bible uses Elohim, it is translated as gods, not God...

The bible uses the word Elohim to describe the Egyptian gods... the same word used as the creator of the universe... that's not Jehovah... not the same God

Though really... none of it makes any sense, so I don't know why I'm all picky about the semantics

That's because you are unwilling to accept the idea that multitudes of people, worldwide, throughout all of time from the Beginning, have understood that there is one God. Sure, they had their idols. Sure they had their "imaginary friends." But they also understood the one God Creator over all.

Until recently, people believed in dragons, unicorns, leprechauns, fairies and sea monsters (most of these are even mentioned in the bible)...

Do you seriously think that, because a bunch of stone-age people believed something, it must be true?

What is your point?  Throughout history there have been more people who were polytheistic than monotheistic... but this still means absolutely nothing... it is certainly not evidence that there are multiple gods

For those unfamiliar with the federal drug schedule, I'll try to summarize from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controlled_Substances_Act

It basically boils down to the medicinal benefits vs potential for addiction/abuse

Schedule I substances are those that have the following findings:
The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.

Drugs in this schedule include:
DMT, GHB, LSD, Mescaline, Peyote, Psilocybin, Heroin, MDMA, Marijuana and its cannabinoids

The drug or other substances have currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States, or currently accepted medical use with severe restrictions
Abuse of the drug or other substances may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence.

Drugs in this schedule include:
Cocaine, Amphetamine, Methamphetamine, Opium, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Morphine

------------------------------

Schedule III substances are those that have the following findings:

The drug or other substance has a potential for abuse less than the drugs or other substances in schedules I and II.
The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to moderate or low physical dependence or high psychological dependence.

Drugs in this schedule include:
Steroids, Ketamine, Intermediate-acting barbiturates, such as talbutal or butalbital, Fast-acting barbiturates such as secobarbital and pentobarbital

------------------------------

"Placement on schedules; findings required Schedule IV substances are those that have the following findings:

The drug or other substance has a currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States
Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to limited physical dependence or psychological dependence relative to the drugs or other substances in schedule III

Drugs in this schedule include:
Benzodiazepines (xanax, valium), Long-acting barbiturates such as phenobarbital (truth serum)

Abuse of the drug or other substance may lead to limited physical dependence or psychological dependence relative to the drugs or other substances in schedule IV.

Drugs in this schedule include:
Cough suppressants containing small amounts of codeine, Preparations containing small amounts of opium or diphenoxylate, Some anticonvulsants, Some centrally-acting antidiarrheals, such as diphenoxylate
1376  Other / Politics & Society / The DEA Will Soon Decide Whether it Will Reschedule Marijuana on: April 09, 2016, 06:04:45 PM
Basically, they are being forced to reschedule it based on the rules of the schedules... If there is any accepted medicinal value, marijuana cannot be a schedule 1 drug...

I believe they will bump it down to at least 3, but more likely schedule 4 or 5...

They could drop it from the schedule completely, making it legal federally (Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to do this in congress)

http://fortune.com/2016/04/06/dea-decision-marijuana-reschedule/

Quote
The Drug Enforcement Administration says it will make a decision in the coming months that could prove to be a watershed moment for the burgeoning legal marijuana industry.

In a memo to lawmakers this week, the DEA announced plans to decide “in the first half of 2016” whether or not it will reschedule marijuana, according to The Washington Post. Cannabis is now listed under the Controlled Substances Act as a Schedule 1 drug, a categorization it shares with other drugs, such as heroin and LSD, which the U.S. government defines as “the most dangerous drugs” that have “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.”

Advocates for marijuana legalization have long argued that the drug should be rescheduled, considering marijuana’s relative safety when compared to a drug like heroin, which caused roughly 11,000 overdose deaths in 2014, according to the National Institutes of Health. The argument for rescheduling marijuana also revolves largely around the drug’s potential for medical use, as 23 states have already legalized medical pot to treat a variety of maladies—from cancer to chronic pain—and U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy even admitted last year that “marijuana can be helpful” for certain medical conditions.

Should the DEA decide to reschedule marijuana, bumping it down with supposedly less dangerous drugs such as cocaine (Schedule 2) or ketamine (Schedule 3), the move would likely open the door for expanded research of cannabis’ potential for medical applications. As it stands, the government has an exclusive contract with a University of Mississippi research lab to grow marijuana for the purpose of medical research, and the DEA notes in its letter that the government supplied an average of just nine researchers with marijuana for research purposes per year between 2010 and 2015.

Rescheduling could also have a major financial effect on the legal marijuana industry, which some estimates suggest will hit $6.7 billion in sales this year while expanding to nearly $22 billion by 2020. While more and more states have voted to legalize marijuana in some form over the past several years, the drug remains very much illegal on the federal level—an inconvenient fact for a rapidly expanding industry that has led to a range of issues for marijuana-related businesses, from a lack of banking options to federal tax issues.

Another thing to point out is that the form of communism you are familiar with (soviet union), it not the ideal communist setup by Karl Marx...

It's not that communism is bad, it's simply that the soviet union was not really communism... it was a dictatorship in disguise as communism

Similarly, the US is not a democracy, nor is China a republic (people's republic of China)

People misuse labels to confuse you...

America claims to be a democracy... yet it is set up as a republic, not a democracy... and, it's not even a republic because the people who write the laws are lobbyists... paid by corporations and billionaires... making America effectively an oligarchy...

This is the stuff they won't teach you in school... America is an oligarchy, masquerading as a democratic-republic

I can still remember the first time I read the bible...

When I got to the second chapter of genesis I had a Deja-vu moment

I felt like I had just read the entire creation story, yet here it was again... almost the exact same thing repeated in the second chapter...

I found it strange that God felt the need to repeat himself so soon... It did not take long to realize that God repeats himself hundreds of times throughout the bible... I suppose God did not word it well the first time, and had to do it again?  I dunno... never did figure out why God repeats himself over and over and over and over in the bible... seems like He should have hired a better editor before printing the thing
