Not something you see often, if ever.  Should get some interest

And something that can likely never be reproduced. Many of these people are now incommunicado, retired, or both.  Looking back this might be one of the most difficult collectibles ever produced in terms of sheer effort and how many countries these artifacts traveled to get to their final destination.

That's true. Something like this is impossible to produce today due to people being unreachable, and I know it was a massive headache to bring together. I'm rather jealous of this collection.. even I don't have a full set! (They are THAT RARE..)
I do however have a few partial sets kicking around.. I hope to do something special with them at some point.

After the end of this auction, I'll be posting an auction of my own for a rather unique book (nothing to do with signatures or holograms).
Stay tuned  Cheesy

@Fattcatt it is in Ahonen's Encyclopedia if you don't have here are some photos.

Just an FYI... the linked page is 70% word-for word plagiarism from my book. It is unauthorized, and was created by bitcointalk user nathansenn to whom I provided a PDF preview copy of my book. It is one of 4 plagiarized posts he made for his own personal gain, and he does not attribute me or my book in even one of them in any way. i have been in contact with nathansenn regarding the matter and he has failed to take any corrective action.

Token Valley has been building ‘The Bloomberg of Crypto’ for 11 months now, and our MVP is ready. This consists of a powerful back-end built using Drupal. We now need to focus on content, and we can't do it alone. We are seeking to fill 13 positions. As we are now at the stage of seeking funding from equity investors, and these positions would be 'volunteer' positions to start, but with the expectation of payment as soon as funding allows. 390  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Controversial Artwork "Skin in the Game" - Ended without valid bid. on: February 19, 2018, 04:29:03 AM
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is not the craziest art I've seen by any stretch.

What you need to do, is think of some deep meaning to accompany each element of the piece. \
For some reason you chose mandarin peels; perhaps they artistically symbolize the language 'Mandarin', which itself is a reference to China, and its growing dominance in the crypto-sphere. Perhaps, one of the peels could have been in the shape of china for added meta-meaning. Perhaps the gold foil symbolizes hope for the wealth that the investor is seeking in putting their 'skin in the game', while the cardboard symbolizes the fear of any particular investment becoming worthless. Perhaps the peels also signify that by placing their skin in the crypto 'game', they can never truly withdraw, just as one cannot un-peel an orange.
Perhaps, the investor 'shedding their skin', is a metaphor for transformation in the same way some animals must leave behind their old skin to grow a new one, as the world may be in the process of 'shedding the skin' of the legacy financial system.. only to discover a tasty, ripe fruit underneath..
Clearly, the back of the frame represents the X-men logo, signifying the 'mutant' nature of bitcoin, which is 'hidden' from view.. Wink

I could go on an on..
Best of luck.

You can contact minerjones or Elianite.  I’m not sure if there are cheaper options to your country other than Amazon

Do you know whether ther will be an updated version available in the near future?
IIRC there was a new version planned in late 2017.

Yes, there are a few versions kicking around

- Signature; signed by Casascius & authors, numbered 1-20. Sold out.
- First print; signed by me & numbered 21-100. Sold out.

Hardcover
- Autographs Edition; signed by 25+ manufacturers & numbered 1-20. Sold out.

There is no 3rd Edition forthcoming at this time, but I intend to re-start that process in some capacity. Would love for a 3rd to come out in time for Christmas.
392  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Anacs undergoing a PROCEDURE CHANGE on: January 16, 2018, 07:07:16 PM
I must say, you are limiting yourselves if you intend to make this for physical crypto's only. There is not and likely will not be enough volume to support any kind of worthwhile business venture. Though of course 2-3 people doing it as a hobby is cool, it still that brings up questions of insurance, etc.

Frankly, I would expect one or more of these people quit rather quickly, as while they may go into it with the best of intentions, I can practically guarantee that there will be drama, accusations, and all kinds of things stemming from the fact that you are handling 100k+ (soon Wink ) coins of people from different countries. Mistakes may be made, shipments may be lost, accusations will be made, integrates will be called to question, and accusations of favoritism will be openly debated. I would not want this for myself, especially if I was doing the work purely as a hobby/favor.

I believe there is an opportunity to use the 'hype' around bitcoins and blockchain, and the novelty of physical crypto, to create significant publicity for a new coin grading service, that may compete with the existing graders. This could for example utilize blockchain tech for tracking coins & grades, and even use a distributed/decentralized blind-judging model where several experts grade each coin, and the average grade is assigned automatically. There may even be the possibility of raising money with an ICO with a utility token, but that is not by any means critical.

I would be happy to play a role in this kind of enterprise, should others show serious initiative.
393  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Anacs undergoing a PROCEDURE CHANGE on: January 14, 2018, 02:54:45 PM
Agreed. Someone with years of coin collecting/grading experience + crypto collectible experience should start a small company to fill this niche. I'd use the service.

Regards,
Chris

Lets make it an ICO.. First decentralized / semi-decentralized coin grading service.
Utility Token: Each token is good for one coin grading.

Thoughts?
394  Economy / Collectibles / Re: PAPERBACK - Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins and Crypto-Currencies on: November 11, 2017, 12:59:46 AM
Looking forward to seeing it  Smiley

Thanks bithalo. No timeline at this point unfortunately. As some of you know I have spent the past 6 months working on a startup project, so my attention is limited. I do however have some great people around me to help with the next edition.

With this I invite anyone with a serious interest (ie. wanting to commit 100+ hours) in research / writing / photos / etc. to contact me and perhaps you can participate in the creation of the next edition.

398  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [SOLD] 21.5 oz silver BTC/ETH coin (one of a kind) on: August 08, 2017, 07:56:39 PM
Was this resolved? If not, I'm willing to buy it right now (I actually have the  funds)  Roll Eyes

Yes, resolved & all parties are satisfied Smiley
399  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] 21.5 oz silver BTC/ETH coin (one of a kind) on: August 08, 2017, 12:52:54 AM
I think that before that is done, they should sign an address with at least 1.05 btc proving they could pay

You off your meds again, buddy?  Roll Eyes

Fuck off

If the newbi doesn't have the funds to then they shouldn't obviously be getting a refund or whatever you wanna call it.

That was never the issue. I av8rjeff had the funds.
400  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Auction] 21.5 oz silver BTC/ETH coin (one of a kind) on: August 06, 2017, 06:55:19 PM
Well, Newbie....You should have followed through. Like stayed and "paid"....but you didn't. And then there was a "turn of events". Which CAN, and did happen. Therefore, if you had stuck around, you could have bid. No one here is to blame that you took off to go to a bar, vacation, Grandma's house, or a ho-down. The truth of the matter is THATS ON YOU!!!  Undecided   ......yeah.

I think that it is not quite that simple.. and in any case, it is not fair to treat anyone differently based on how many posts they have.

I very much see av8rjeff's perspective as legitimate. Had I done the auction properly everything would be fine, and had I not been locked out, everything would be fine. Further, I had massive time-zone confusion from travelling through three continents in that 2 week period. I don't know how to make this right for everyone.

That said, Fattcatt has paid, and I don't think I can take that back.

av8rjeff, I am willing to offer you a book and a 0.15BTC ($500) transfer, which was the difference between your bids.
As I am only getting a portion of this auction, this represents a significant loss to me. It will be clear that I am not profiting from the extension decision in any way, but it is costing me.
