401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 28, 2024, 03:08:54 PM
Personally, I don't like the word Gambler tbh. And it feels more worse when someone calls someone a Gambler in the local language. I played some hands it's true and I tested many games for test purposes But I was never affected by the gamble. and I consider I am not a gambler myself. Somehow I do not feel good or something does not fit with me by this word.

What do you think about yourself and how do you want to define the word Gambler?

You no need to identify yourself as a gambler everywhere but the definition of gambler is "one who gambles" which means if you are gambling then the person who is gambling will be called as gambler.

Religions made gambling look bad, but one who addicted to it are the one need to be blamed not everyone who is doing it responsible.
402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: January 28, 2024, 12:46:00 PM
What is mostly common in my neighborhood and that I mostly do is soccer betting and if I am not exaggerating, 90% of the people that do soccer betting do do because they want to win money.

They want to win the match is different from what they want to win the match to meet survival needs.

It is very common that we want to be successful in everything we do and the same happens in gambling too, when we bet on sports betting or even if we just be a fanatic of a team we just want them to win.

What is wrong, when you don't have a source of income and you have some money that time if you think that you can win a bet and keep on winning.
403  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Know why the exchange wallet are not safe on: January 27, 2024, 04:59:35 PM
With a non-custodial wallet, you don't need any form of KYC. You don't need any personal information whatsoever. No one is even going to ask you for an email. That makes you completely anonymous.
Completely anonymous? Not really.

You can't protect your anonymity and your privacy, just with using a non-custodial wallet.
When you use a non-custodial SPV wallet like electrum, you have to connect to a server for giving data from a node and broadcasting your transactions. With connecting to the server, you reveal your IP address to a third party.

For someone using exchange as their wallet, the non-custodial wallets look like completely anonymous but it's true that we don't need to provide any identity to get our bitcoin wallets but then when we connect to third-party servers our IP address will be leaked to the connected server and its possible to track the real location even identity.

That is why when someone is thinking non custodial wallet is the best way to store their crypto then they also should consider running their own node.
404  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Know why the exchange wallet are not safe on: January 27, 2024, 02:31:20 PM
You are dragging too much for what you wanted to convey.

Exchanges don't give us private keys for the addresses and exchanges can be hacked or run away with our cryptos are the two primary reasons why you should not keep your coins in exchange.

P.S: Are these typos "we can no longer access our Bitcoin" and "Do Don't keep bitcoin in an exchange wallet"?
405  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another question? Tell me your average amount per bet and your monthly income? on: January 27, 2024, 07:38:39 AM
I don't bet on sports betting.

But if you ask this about for a casino game then I can answer it, usually, I start with the minimum bet amount that can be bet and after a few bets, if I feel I am winning more than losing I randomly increase the bet amount not in any particular order.
We can have a different approach on casino games and sports betting. Normally, when you play on casino like on slots and roulette, you don't bet a lot of money as you want to make it a long session, but as you know, the house edge is always on their side, so all have to do is just have fun and make sure you don't get to attach when you are losing. Knowing how to start when you are losing, that's the right way to handle to stay safe and minimize the risk. Let's admit the fact that most of the time we lose in a casino, but have we manage to control ourselves by staying based on limit?
High rollers are there in every kind of gambling even in dice you can see someone will bet thousands of dollar as their average bet amount but it depends on their risk appetite, for me I just want to play longer not to make the profits but just to prolong the gambling experience so that I can feel that I am satisfied my gambling urge at that time. Cheesy
I don't gamble much but if I do I will go up to $50 or 100 as maximum.
What is this amount, is it monthly or weekly?

The amount is my one-time deposit and generally, I bust the balance and rarely I withdraw from casinos but I don't have specific times to gamble, it can be once in a week or once in a couple of months.
406  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: January 27, 2024, 06:14:29 AM

Well, so be it. It is really just that there are people who are really that loving on reading up those pile of text just because they did really have in concern when it comes to the platforms that they are really that involving into but majority is really that someone whose really that doesnt care on reading up TOS and would really be just that playing immediately on the time
.
.

It is due to my personal experience, I lost money in my life due to making decisions without knowing in and out of something which hurt me financially a lot so from that I used to be careful with my money more than ever no matter the amount of money is small or big because I implemented the basic thing which is learning from own mistakes will teach us the best things that can't be taught by anyone. Hopefully who don't care to read their ToS now will realize when they stuck up with something similar.

408  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core is again downloading the whole blockchain on: January 26, 2024, 03:20:17 PM

Using external hard drive as your main blockchain data storage is not a good option,

I couldn't agree with this.

I use the  external drive ( now it is 870 EVO  1 TB SSD) for the copy of blockchain maintained by my node for many years, so  far so good, and go on with it.

Why do you think it is a bad approach? Please, elaborate.

The main reason why I said because external drives are prone to physical damage and often connection and disconnecting from the device can cause issues like OP had, I am not sure it is the actual reason but it could be a potential reason too.

The maximum Read and write speed of SSD can be achieved practically if we connect them using SATA ports.
409  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: January 26, 2024, 05:55:04 AM
The terms and conditions of casinos and other companies is usually very lengthy and somehow boring for some people. Hence , many people rarely find time to read them. They may actually contain some of the complaints that people raise about some casinos such requiring KYC if there is need or suspicion of money laundering activities.

What is your take on this?

Trust me or not but I take time to read the terms and conditions of any platform that involves depositing my money, I don't want to lie that I do before registering but I make sure that I am not violating any terms of the platform that can be a threat to my balance once in a while. And if some doubt arise even related to casino that I regularly use I take time to read the particular part whether it's related to deposit or even the rules related to the game which I am about to play.
410  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To any Bitcoin holder who lost their seed: How did you lose it? on: January 26, 2024, 04:33:32 AM
What mistakes did you make, and what advice do you have for others to be careful?

What are the best and worst ways of storing a seed in your opinion?
I never had a physical backup of my seeds for my hot wallet Electrum storage which is indeed a mistake but I did it due to my laziness so I lost access to the wallet when the device was corrupted but luckily there is not funds left in that wallet it happened so from that on I always wanted to have at least one physical back of seeds (write down on paper) even if its a wallet intended for temporary use.
411  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: CPFP: what infos are needed from the payer on: January 25, 2024, 04:05:56 PM
Full access to the wallet.
Private key or the phrase.
He meant the sender.

OP, you don't need anything from the sender, if the transaction appears in your history and I assume you are using Electrum to receive then you can do CPFP. Just select it from the history tab and choose child pays for parent then set the fees then broadcast and its done.
412  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mempool fees and Solutions on: January 25, 2024, 04:05:05 PM
However those who want to consolidate the UTXO, they can still wait for lower fees, if it is not an urgent requirement. Let's hope the fee can come back to 11-15sat/vbyte in the coming weekend.
Consolidating at 30sat/vb doesn't look like a smart option, you can use this to move your funds if there is any pending transaction but it is still expensive to consolidate smaller inputs.

I don't think the fees will drop any further because this has been the situation for a couple of weeks that you can find: https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,24h,weight

BRC20 spammers settled for lower fee than outrageous high fees is the reason why the fees dropped to this level but the number of unconfirmed transactions and mempool size is the same as how it used to be at the peak.
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 25, 2024, 02:19:45 PM
Women by nature are more conservative than men. They are better manager of resources and know how to prioritise things.

Whether men or women, who strictly follow what you pointed out above will avoid gambling at all because they don't find gambling as anything useful.

Anyone can be a responsible gambler irrespective of their gender so I won't bring their gender here to compare anything but I know women who also went rogue due to gambling addiction and men as well.
414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are newbies afraid to comment on threads of highly ranked members? on: January 25, 2024, 11:53:26 AM
Veterans always encourage newbies who are joining into a discussion and give some valuable added content to the thread and sometimes you might get bullied too but it's just common since it is just another online forum and you need to have thick skin if you want to communicate people from different kinds of people all around the world.

If you have something to say then don't hesitate to join/comment, even if its wrong you will be corrected by fellow members.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can a social or casual good guesser make better gambling prediction carrier? on: January 25, 2024, 07:37:40 AM
If I am not wrong there was a reality show that was famous which is exactly what you are saying, the person will find what you have in mind and ask 10 questions prior to that and you just need to say yes or no to those questions.

Eventually, it's a failed model, and it's impossible to guess what someone is having in their mind too often so this game is not going to be profitable for the one who runs it and they why should they run it?
416  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: AMA: I Operate an Online Casino on: January 24, 2024, 07:55:15 PM
I always wondered how many employees are working there in an online casino.

To run a casino it requires a huge amount of manpower and a lot of effort to manage the players and mostly it will be more than 50 people will just be working for security alone, then dealers and inside jobs like money management teams, etc. While in an online casino, these will be eliminated and most employees concentrate on the security of the casino and funds.
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: January 24, 2024, 05:52:11 PM
Stress, anxiety, and depression are getting generalized in this era but it is something that should be diagnosed by the respective medical professionals which are psychiatrists/therapists.

Public help programs can be effective or totally ineffective depending on where you live so if you are from a place where the service is available from the government and provided free of cost or at an affordable rate then its the best option compared to expensive private sessions.

If you want thoughts related to gambling then just stop doing it until things become normal
418  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin core is again downloading the whole blockchain on: January 24, 2024, 03:57:26 PM
Bitcoin core is not recognizing the data files for some reason which is why it is downloading the data again.

Check the status of your SSD drive, and make sure the files present in the directory is not corrupted or missing. Try ewscan or reindexing the blockchain data and check your 'bitcoin.conf' file, which is the configuration file for Bitcoin Core. Ensure that the 'datadir' parameter is correctly set to the directory where your blockchain data is stored. You can create or edit this file if necessary.

Another possible reason, restarting the device can lead to changes in the permission setting so please check that as well.

Using external hard drive as your main blockchain data storage is not a good option, you can use it for backups.
419  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally I got myself my first real cold wallet on: January 24, 2024, 07:22:00 AM
Just bought and got my first real cold wallet from Ledger that I ordered from their website. Cheesy (Now I finally feel like a real Bitcoiner/Cryptoner)

You can have a cold wallet without even purchasing a hardware wallet, one way is using Electrum to create a wallet in an offline device where you will be never exposed to the internet which means your seeds are safe unless you do something wrong.

Download the latest version of Electrum from https://electrum.org/#download and then verify the signatures before installing it.

[GUIDE] How to Safely Download and Verify Electrum

Then copy the downloaded file to your air-gapped device and install it, then restore your wallet with your seeds "Standard Wallet -> I already have a seed".

Then go to  "Wallet -> Info" and get your "Master Public Key"

After this go to your device which is connected to the internet create the "watch-only" wallet (Standard Wallet -> "Use a Master Key)

By this method device will be never connected to the internet so you no need to worry about your seeds being exposed to malware or anything.

And you could have chosen a better hardware manufacturer than Ledger because you can't trust Ledger anymore and they keep lying about everything.
420  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum Wallet on: January 24, 2024, 06:01:58 AM
~snip
This going to sound idiotic to you but how do I get this address?
You can see all the generated addresses in your Electrum wallet by clicking the address tab.

Also, you can see the current balance and number of TXs for the respective address in the same tab itself, and if everything you see is there is zero then you never funded your Electrum wallet or you imported the wrong wallet which could be due to the missing passphrase that is something termed as 'password" in some wallets but not in electrum.
