421  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Product feedback for new Hardcore Wallet on: February 29, 2024, 11:32:19 AM
Um.... The UI is not so good. It is very blue, which will hurt the eyes at night. Also the layout looks like its from an old HTML page. No offense.

It reminds me more of the Windows blue screen of death. Maybe there are some traumas from the past  Roll Eyes, but I certainly wouldn't choose this combination in 2024.
422  Economy / Exchanges / Re: eXch - instant exchange BTC / LN / XMR / LTC / ETH / ERC20 on: February 29, 2024, 11:08:47 AM
You mentioned in a previous reply that this service is barely making profits, and I see that Monero reserves are decreasing quickly. To what extent will the rise in Bitcoin price affect the XRP --> BTC service, assuming that Monero does not react positively to the speed of the rise in the price of Bitcoin and that you are barely making profits?

I think that, among other things, they gave an explanation related to Monero. They turned to customer-provided liquidity, even though they might lose some profit that way.

Absolutely. We can load 15000 XMR right now and it will be sold in just a few hours at 5%. At 0.5% in less than 1 hour. This situation has repeated many times already.

Some time ago we were using exchanges like Binance and Kraken to acquire XMR liquidity periodically, but we stopped doing so because they became very uncomfortable with us draining so much liquidity from them, because it became an infinite process.

We are now temporarily back to our old model (customer-provided liquidity only), but expect to resume having constant XMR liquidity soon once we acquire a good and reliable source.
423  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software on: February 29, 2024, 12:16:18 AM
There will be several blog posts explaining the improvements in this version. There's a lot of of subtle behavior changes that make the wallet "smarter" about when to coinjoin and when not to coinjoin, performance improvements so there's less loading and less CPU/GPU consumption, UI polish, and codebase cleanup that will make future development more productive.

I believe that it will be in the future, but I prefer to see all the changes brought by an update before I accept it. Regardless of the type of software, each new update brings a certain type of risk because it has not been fully tested in live use.

I saw this on Reddit today, I can only imagine how these users felt when they saw 0 on their Coinbase accounts

Not Your Keys, Not Your Coins.

I would quote here this post by theymos, he perfectly formulated what the balance numbers on any service mean.

When you log into an exchange, yield platform, or other site, and it says that you have a balance of "1 BTC" or "1 USD", this does not actually mean that you have 1 BTC or 1 USD. Rather, it means that the company showing you this balance owes you that money. In other words, you've given a loan to the company. Maybe the company will pay you back, but history is littered with defunct companies which accepted deposits and were widely trusted for years, but which ended up not paying back their depositors in the end.
426  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: February 28, 2024, 10:22:35 PM
What is wrong in this thread? Use a direct quote.

This thread currently has 8 pages and over 150 posts, if you haven't figured out what's wrong here, I certainly can't explain it to you in one post. That's why I have no intention of explaining anything to you, it's pointless.
If anyone me also here does not respond to your questions, it does not mean that no one has more arguments, it means that no one wants to continue the discussion in the way you started here.
427  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crpto Fee Estimation Platform on: February 28, 2024, 06:21:42 PM
Is there any platform where you can see the details about transaction fees for every network?
For example, if I need Dogecoin network, I want to see how many Satoshi/Byte, how much in USD the fee I will do the transaction - Where I can see the suggested, slow, or fast transaction

I highly appreciate that there's only 1 platform where you can see all of the networks in 1 place and they are updated.
Right now I need these networks: Bitcoin, Ethereum,  Dogecoin, Litecoin, BNB, Tron.

if you mentioned bitmover, he would just say: hold my beer.  Cheesy

btw. I found one multichain explorer maybe something like this can help you https://www.oklink.com/
428  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptopia Cryptocurrency Platform Services and Development on: February 28, 2024, 06:16:13 PM
I see that there are still those who hope that they will be able to claim their funds from Cryptopia.
Today I received this email from them, and it concerns the liquidation plans for 2024. I will transfer it here in full in case someone does not have access or is not informed

Quote
Dear Cryptopia Account Holder,

We are emailing you directly to provide an update on the liquidation plans for 2024. This update addresses:
Communications from third parties (Epic Trust Limited, the Cogito Metaverse, Principality of Cogito) and assigning/selling your claim.
The use of Cryptopia's confidential information.
The intended timeline for distribution.
An update on the claims process.
1. Communications from third parties (Epic Trust Limited, the Cogito Metaverse, Principality of Cogito) and assigning/selling your claim
We understand that third parties have contacted account holders offering to purchase their Cryptopia entitlements in exchange for an obscure digital currency. This agreement requires the assignment or transfer of coins to that third party.

We have been contacted by a number of account holders who have been confused about whether these third parties are related to the liquidators, Grant Thornton or Cryptopia.  These communications are not from the Liquidators and Account Holders should be very wary and cautious of any unsolicited third-party offers, especially from any named above.

We would like to remind all account holders that the only channels that we use to communicate with account holders about the Cryptopia liquidation are:
• Our website, https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/cryptopia-limited/
• Emails sent from no-reply@cryptopia.co.nz
• The claims portal being https://portal.cryptopia.co.nz/
• Our Zendesk customer support portal being https://cryptopia.zendesk.com/

If you are unsure whether a communication is an official communication from us, please raise a helpdesk ticket in Zendesk.

Assignment of claims
The sale and purchase agreement offered by these third parties mentioned includes the assignment of coins to that third party.

Under the historic terms and conditions of Cryptopia we note that clause 18.2(b) of Cryptopia's terms and conditions says that account holders “may not assign, transfer and/or subcontract any of your rights or obligations under these Terms.” Gendall J relied on these terms and conditions in the liquidators' first directions application in 2020 when he decided that the cryptocurrencies were held on trust by Cryptopia for the benefit of account holders.

Our position is that the Terms and Conditions remain in force, meaning that any assignment or transfer (including by sale) of an account holder's entitlements is not binding or enforceable.

In regards to the assignment of claims we note that Epic Trust Limited, a Montenegrin company claiming to act for the Principality of Cogito, applied to be joined to the liquidators' directions application.  The Court declined Epic Trust Limited's application to be joined as a party.  The Court's judgment suggests that it is possible that:
The sale and purchase agreements might not be valid, because they do not have legal signatures on them and because the agreement is subject to the laws of the Principality of Cogito, a metaverse that is not a foreign jurisdiction recognised by the Court.
Account holders might not be able to assign their Cryptopia entitlements because of clause 18.2(b) of the terms and conditions.
We recommend that any account holders who have entered into a sale and purchase or assignment agreement with any of these third parties seek independent legal advice.

The full judgment regarding the joinder application can be read here:  Epic Trust Limited v Ruscoe [2024] NZHC 21 (24 January 2024)

2. Use of confidential Cryptopia information
In 2020, Victor Cattermole obtained confidential Cryptopia information from the High Court.  He was ordered to delete and return the information. He was held in contempt of court for breaches of Court orders relating to the information and gave undertakings to the Court intended to protect that information.

The liquidators believe that third parties related to him or controlled by him are using the confidential information to contact Cryptopia account holders.  Please be assured that we are taking appropriate steps to protect Cryptopia's and account holders' confidential information.

Relating to this matter the judgment and recent interim injunction orders against Mr Cattermole, Epic Trust Ltd and others can be read here:
• Judgement - Ruscoe & Others v Epic Trust Ltd & Others [2024] NZHC 165
• Interim Orders - Ruscoe & Others v Epic Trust Ltd & Others [2024] NZHC 165

Account holders should be very cautious about providing your Cryptopia account information to third parties.  The claims portal has been designed to verify each account holder's account ownership and identity, and it is very important that this sensitive process is protected.

3. Intended timeline for distribution
We remain hopeful that most distributable assets will be returned to eligible account holders by the end of the 2024 year, but the timeframe for distribution will depend on when and what directions the Court makes following the directions hearing in November 2023.

We encourage account holders to read the full submissions to understand the liquidators' intended distribution process: https://www.grantthornton.co.nz/cryptopia-limited/update-for-cryptopia-claimants-and-stakeholders-2-november-2023/

We have also provided a brief summary below.  Please note that the Court has not made any orders yet.

Directions Application – the Court heard the liquidators' application for directions about distributing the cryptocurrency to account holders in November 2023.  The application was about:
How the cryptocurrency should be distributed to account holders.
How the costs associated with administering the cryptocurrency trusts should be fairly spread across each coin type and each account holder.
That, after giving reasonable notice, the liquidators are not required to distribute cryptocurrency to account holders who do not register in or complete the Claims process despite the liquidators' best efforts.
Interim Distributions – the first distributions planned by the liquidators will be to account holders with a DOGE or Bitcoin balance of higher than a certain threshold.  The distribution will be of 50% of those account holders' cryptocurrency entitlement.

Soft Cut Off Date – after the Court has made a decision on the directions application, the liquidators will give account holders notice of the Soft Cut Off Date. After the Soft Cut Off Date, any cryptocurrency belonging to account holders who have not registered in the claims portal will be considered "unclaimed holdings". The liquidators will use the unclaimed holdings to pay for the costs of trust administration, in the first instance.

Phase 1 Distribution – all account holders who have a balance higher than their initial allocation of trust administration costs and who have completed the claims process will receive a distribution of their entitlement (with a deduction for trust administration costs, if there are any costs left after using the unclaimed holdings).  Subject to receiving legal directions this would occur after the interim distribution currently anticipated Q3 /Q4 2024.

Final Cut-Off Date -  the liquidators will give account holders notice that all account holders who have registered must complete the claims process.  After the Final Cut-Off Date, any cryptocurrency belonging to account holders who have not completed the claims portal will be considered 'unclaimed holdings".  The liquidators will use the unclaimed holdings to pay for the costs of trust administration.

Phase 2 Distribution – the liquidators will recalculate how much of the unclaimed holdings can be used to pay for trust administration costs.  Account holders may receive a second distribution of cryptocurrency to refund them for all or part of the trust administration costs deducted in the Phase 1 distribution.

We have asked the court to permit us to take no steps to distribute Cryptocurrency that has no value and is unable to contribute to the costs of trust administration.

The diagram below was attached to the submissions filed as part of the liquidators' directions application in November 2023.  It sets out a suggested timeline for distribution of cryptocurrency to eligible account holders:

4. Claim process update
The Liquidators are advanced in the development of stage ‘4a.’ of the claims process:
#   Process   Details
1   Claims registration   Allows the registration of account holders' details
2   Identity verification   Verifies account holders' identities to the necessary verification standard
3   Balance acceptance   Provides account holders the opportunity to agree that Cryptopia records represent amounts due
4a   Asset Distribution – Wallet Address Collection   Allows eligible account holders to submit wallet addresses for each balance qualified to participate in Asset distribution
4b   Asset Distribution – Crypto-asset Return   Returns account holders assets proportional to distribution calculation
Wallet Address Collection will be launched for those qualifying and registered Bitcoin and Dogecoin holders in the coming weeks.

General information
As previously communicated to you if you are having trouble with the Claims Portal, please raise a ticket through the Cryptopia Customer Support Portal. This support portal is separate from the claims portal and can be accessed by any account holder, provided they register and click the “Sign Up” button on the page.

Lastly, we remind you that the only official communication from the Liquidators will be sent from the no-reply@cryptopia.co.nz email.  We will not send any communications relating to your claim from a different address.  Any communications not sent from this email are not from us and may be scams.
429  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud Mining recommendations on: February 28, 2024, 04:07:11 PM
I have no idea why anyone would think kucoin even offers that since that page is just a tutorial.
I guess we have to wait for @sheenshane to explain us where he saw cloud mining on that Kucoin pool mining tutorial page he shared.

Word mining is the biggest trick in this type cloud mining of fraud. Almost everyone knows that cryptocurrency mining exists and that many have made serious money through it. That's why it's easy to sell the story to the ignorant through cloud mining, even if you can make a parallel with big services like Binance or Kucoin, it can sound quite convincing.
I would not recommend any service that I have not personally tried. I also assume that shesha has never used Kucoin's mining service
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did people buy bitcoin before Mt. Gox? on: February 28, 2024, 01:46:32 PM
new liberty standard was another
bitmarket.eu
bitomat
then mtgox
then bitcoinica
then btc-e
then others followed

I would add Bitstamp which was founded in 2011.
It is less than one year after MtGox, but what sets them apart is that they are still operational. They are now the longest-running cryptocurrency exchange, after everything we've seen with other exchanges, it's a real feat.
431  Economy / Reputation / Re: Most technically knowledgeable forum users .. on: February 28, 2024, 01:17:42 PM
I just read one book about, Mastering Bitcoin.
I went without any books. But it's also the good thing about Bitcoin: most people can use it without reading anything. It helps to know the basics to avoid doing stupid things, but other than that, the software is pretty much self-explanatory. Until something goes wrong, or when someone starts making up their own "system" to store Bitcoins.

I do not boast of significant knowledge in the field, but most of what I learned was through personal experience.
I certainly found help here or by searching through other sources, but what I think I've learned is what I've personally tried. Everything is fine when I read why and how something works, but it's completely different when I encounter a problem myself, so I'm looking for an understanding of why it happened and a possible solution.

Don't you find it retarded that he just refuses to let go of a thread made by someone who's not even here anymore?

I think everyone should ignore this thread.
Everything inside and about this thread is wrong and its life should not be extended. I believe that the OP would eventually give up if he realizes that there is no support or interest in this kind of discussion.

434  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betnomi | Project status & Refund Plan! on: February 27, 2024, 03:44:24 PM
We have completed the refund process for the final set of withdrawal requests. Out of these, two have been denied due to fraud (account was previously banned). Three of them have been forwarded to the risk management team of our odds feeds and game providers. Apart from these five instances, all other refunds have been 100% completed.

You have not properly updated the subject of this topic. It should be [SOLVED only two "small amount" cases]

What about this?
Hi.

I can confirm I have not received my funds from betnomi. I first deposited 0.29999 btc and 3 eth on the 15.06.2023. I placed sport bets on the euro football qualifier 2024 from 16.06.23 to 22.06.23. All bets were in line with the market at the time of bet placement, on one of the biggest events a sportsbook can offer.  I only rolled over my initial deposit once before the site went offline, so I did not get to use betnomi really before it went offline. I lost and won bets but ended in a 0.1 btc and 1.5 eth profit, on my 0.29999 btc and 3 eth worth volume. I had a total of 0.4 btc and 4.5 eth in my betnomi account at the time the site went offline, 02.07.2023.

I will not delete the scam accusation: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5462045.0 and will raise a red flag on betnomi soon. I have been patient, but it is running out.  I will continue to try to be respectful in my communication here, but betnomi is making it difficult when saying the refund process is "solved".

We will process or deny the remaining cases based on the results of the review conducted by the third-party risk management team.
I have no faith that the "results of the review conducted by the third-party risk management team" will be fair. I did not really get to use the site, before it went offline, and I am barely up on my initial btc and eth deposit.

Betnomi should at very least have paid all deposits back in the refund round this week, and make the "results of the review conducted by the third-party risk management team" public for the forum (if this third party review is real at all) when they come.

I hope for an open discussion on the progress of the rest of the refund @betnomi.

I don't know much about this exchange, but it is interesting that the CEO left a month ago. It would be too much if it was a coincidence. https://support.bitforex.com/hc/en-us/articles/28260960127385-Jason-Stepped-Down-as-CEO-of-BitForex

Altcoinstalks uses it . We could use it but it only is a way to fuck around with peoples heads.

I know this forum and people may gang up on someone to strip enough merits to lower someones rank.

Exactly this. Recently, there was a case of abuse on Altt, so the admin deleted all karma points.
Something is different here and I wouldn't expect theymos or moderators to monitor possible abuses or organized demerit user profiles.

438  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 26, 2024, 10:34:50 PM
You can implement this by adding a demerit button. If a member can rank up through a thousand merits, they should be demoted through a hundred De-merits. This could be open to members or assigned to moderators. You may also bestow demotion powers to intelligent reputable members like LoyceV, Yahoo62278, Notatether, Moccaccino, Logfiles, Suchmoon and others.

I won't go into the usefulness and complexity of implementing something like this, but it would be a big mistake to enable such features only for certain members. We already have many complaints and discussions that the DT system is unfair because it seems as if certain users are privileged. That would only bring more unnecessary drama.
The current trust system is not perfect, but it is functional for the most part, although some users continue with their behaviour regardless. Demerit or demotion will certainly not affect such.
439  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of a loan on: February 26, 2024, 04:08:57 PM

It was through Reddit saying they are Dw loan lenders. I have reached out to three of them and they all asked for either a 10-20 percent upfront fee, which everyone that I talked about through Reddit said was legit. So each time I gave an upfront fee they all just ghosted as soon as I sent it. I have some collateral, I am just looking for any help. It was all scammers and I shouldn't have given them anything but I was dumb.

You don't seem to know much about loans and how things work there. Maybe you should ignore anything related to borrowing money and look for solutions to your problems in another way.

Can offer collateral with USDT.

If you already have collateral in the USDT wallet, there is no reason not to use these funds for your needs. Certainly, the amount you will receive based on that collateral is significantly smaller. I don't see why you would start waiting for this thing if you already have 5k USDT.
