421  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: February 04, 2024, 08:05:56 AM
  • Do not desire your own money. It turns you from a producer to a consumer.
How does this actually work or can you like give me an example where someone desires their money? Is this the same thing as always chasing the money and not thinking about the other people because if yes then I don't think that it will turn you into a consumer but more like a ghoul that only sees dollar signs and doesn't have any priorities besides getting money.
  • Do not desire the money of others. Envy is a deadly sin. Because it will distract you from your own mission.
I don't think that it's wrong to envy someone when they've got money, don't the envious nature that other people exudes a good thing for someone to be inspired to be like them? Sure there are cases that envy is taken to a whole another level but I believe that there's nothing wrong with being envious of the riches of other people.
  • Do not desire the money you will make in the future. Desire good work right now, You don't want cash in, you want to serve.
That's the favorite line of any bosses of any company out there, work hard but don't expect to get paid by the worth of your hard work, that shouldn't be the case, people should always be compensated by how much work they've done in a company and if that's not the case then raise the minimum wage so people can at the least survive with just that pay for that work.
422  Economy / Economics / Re: are we returning to stone age? on: February 04, 2024, 07:15:02 AM
I don't think that it's possible, the people that's controlling this world and influencing the action of the masses doesn't have that kind of interest for us to return to that and even if that's the case, I don't believe that we're going to back there so quickly even with a nuclear war that would either reset civilization or destroy it, it's really difficult for us to devolve with all the wealth of knowledge that we've got overtime, the probability that we're going back to that age is nigh impossible at the moment.
423  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is best way to maintain your privacy sending payment with Electrum wallet? on: February 04, 2024, 06:42:20 AM
~
There are many benefits of running a full bitcoin node which the major reason is privacy, with full node you will not need to connect to any other public nodes since you’re running your own this basically the main reason for bitcoin core wallet. But let’s assume you want to use an SPV wallet like electrum or sparrow you can be able to switch servers this way it is possible to set up your own electrum server like electraX and then connects it to your own full node. This way you can even use cold wallets like hardware wallets with your own electrum server which is basically your own node.

Here is a thread by n0nce how to do that https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5366854.0

Mind you running a bitcoin node plus this personal electrum server requires you to have enough storage space. Some people opt for pruned node but with prune node you can’t sync a new wallet or even a new address that wasn’t there before the pruned node because it might have to redownload the entire blockchain again ( since prune node doesn’t store all blocks)
Thanks for the guide and I'm not really a technical specialist or an expert in crypto stuff so it's going to take me awhile to fully understand the guide because there's a lot of things that I don't understand on just the surface, I might just go for it and start experimenting right away and then ask the questions along the way when the problems arises. I'll also take a gander at that pruned node, seems like a good cost cutting method to run one.
424  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is best way to maintain your privacy sending payment with Electrum wallet? on: February 04, 2024, 05:51:52 AM
The best way to maintain privacy is by running your own full node and also using different address for different transactions
Is there like a tutorial here for that and what's the many benefits of running your own full node because that seems to be an interesting thing to do for me, I really don't have much to do when it comes to passing the time and I don't even have a lot of hobbies so this could be a good one for me, I just wish that this doesn't cost a lot of money to do though.
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin be stolen? on: February 04, 2024, 05:01:55 AM
So now the question is bitcoin safe from hackers?, can it be stolen?
The safety of your bitcoin depends on the person that has that bitcoin, if you're irresponsible at how you store your keys and seed phrases not having any backup that's not stored in multiple formats and you click a lot of suspicious links all the time and you download stupid stuff from shady websites, you're likely to be an easy victim for hackers. Hackers or black hat hackers prey on people that are bad at their online security and they try and find an exploit in your system so they can steal something or make your daily life inconvenient so the more irresponsible you are with your bitcoin then you're more likely to be a target by this people that have nothing better to do than steal from other people online, be responsible and don't be one of the many victims of these hackers.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin ETF really the best to hold? on: February 03, 2024, 09:45:46 AM
and in many years when its time to sell you dont suffer capital gains so another X% saving, because its in a pension scheme
All I know is that everything is taxed in USA. You mean that those that hold bitcoin ETF shares will not later be taxed if they want to sell it?
I think what @franky1 means is that if you use put your money that's supposed to go to a pension fund towards an ETF then it won't be taxed kind of like what they do with Roth IRA, it's a better retirement plan than the basics in US. Probably those that won't maximize how they'll get their ETFs will probably get taxed.
427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Less than 80 days until the 4th Ever #Bitcoin Halving on: February 03, 2024, 09:10:18 AM
How can you be so accurate about the halving days. I mean it’s very near but predicting the days exactly is really hard. Nevertheless our only task right now is to accumulate as many Bitcoins as we can in this low price time. Once the price goes up it will be very hard to buy in cheap. Hence we shouldn’t complain about the price and should wait for it patiently. Soon Bitcoins will break the records.
Most of the time, the countdown to halving is only a day early or a day off so this is the likely reason why they are somewhat on the dot on the halving, there's also the blockchain to check which block is recent so you can easily just calculate how much time it takes for a block to be mined and then count how many blocks left to get to the halving block which is the 210,000th block I think that's how they count it. I think it's still reasonable to complain about the price, not everyone can get a good value of bitcoin with it's current price but no matter what complaint you've got, you're right that it's difficult to buy cheap since the price just can't stop pumping, that's why it's important to do DCA so you're not missing out even though you're complaining about the price.
428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you invest on this kind of offer? on: February 03, 2024, 08:25:52 AM
Whatever has to do with funding or gambling in any form should be distanced from an investment and loan should not even come close to it as it is the worst plan ever.

Most  gamblers are highly irresponsible in the gambling arena, and they unfortunately fall into the group of people that will consider taking loans from investors. It is not written on their faces and they will beat eligibility test.
I agree that it should be distanced but from what I can get from this proposition, the money that you'll invest will go back to you anyway if the gambler responsible for the growth of the funds can't deliver what's promised so that got me stopping on my tracks about going no all the way, as what Vito Corleone used to say, "An offer you can't refuse." (I think he said that). But with the consideration that these gamblers asking for money to fund their gambling is probably a good reason why it's still not a good idea to take up this offer after all, liars will say anything to make you believe so they can get what they want so at the end it's a matter of will you risking wasting an investment that you might as well just give it away or you don't take up the offer.
429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible Gambling Practices Most People Ignore and Sleep on on: February 03, 2024, 07:18:19 AM
I wouldn't say that it's a slept on but more like it's just difficult to follow since they're all an obvious thing that you should do when you're gambling, you manage your bankroll properly and that you have a set limit for your habit, that's an obvious must do for gambling so I'd say that the practice that's most slept on is probably discipline, you know the most basic because most people don't have that even as an adult, they easily give in to emotion and although it's obvious that you do need to have this but some people didn't grow up with this and wasn't even instilled to them so I do believe this is a slept on practice the most because with discipline, you'll probably be able to do all of that without a problem.
430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe visiting a seer or spiritual house could make you win a game? on: February 03, 2024, 06:22:40 AM
This is just me and I'm not speaking for any other people when it comes to this opinion but if you're someone that does this to make a win in gambling, then you should consider stopping that gambling habit now because it clearly means that you're desperate to make a win already, you can't do it anymore so you try to make the illusion that you can still make a win if you trust a seer to see into the future when in reality none of it works and you're just giving away your money for nothing to someone that sweet talked you into believing what they're saying, they're no better than street hustlers trying to get your money, they just tell you cryptic non-sense so you can't really say that they're lying. If you're using this but you're winning then good for you but you need to remember that if they can see the future then how come they don't bet on that future themselves?
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 03, 2024, 05:33:22 AM
That's probably the last thing that I would think of when it comes to health benefits of online gambling because there's close to nothing that's really going to benefit you consistently so I wouldn't put too much faith in this because it's not like it's going to be everyday you'll meet someone that's infected with a contagious disease on a physical gambling place and it's a different thing about this person as it's not the physical casino's issue here, it's the behavior of that person that still wants to gamble despite having an infectious disease, that means that they don't care about other people and that they're an addict although they don't know it yet and that they're also have a warped up priorities because they still want to gamble instead of just focusing on recovery from this deadly disease.
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: February 03, 2024, 03:34:07 AM
Risk and reward goes side by side as that saying says the higher the risk the higher the reward. However this is not for everyone as most people are not keen on risking more than that they can afford to lose and as such these persons are always complaining about how they are never winning big enough. The real winners who win big are the ones losing consistenly for a long period of time until one time they hit it big when they never expect it.
There are sometimes activities that don't have a really appealing reward or equal reward for the risk that you're taking, a good example is free climbing, the risk is death and the reward is gratification, solemnity and personal achievement so it's not side by side or equal all the time. I disagree though that the people that are losing lot are the ones that will win big, there's a lot of gamblers that haven't won a jackpot for a really long time although they win small amounts, the rewards that they're getting is just simply too low with the risk that they're taking. Of course, it's true that you can't win if you don't risk something but there are times that the wins aren't worth risking for and it's up to you on how you're going to approach things if you still think that it's still good to risk things or not, be smart when it comes to where you're risking your money or yourself.
433  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best ASIC for this power cost? on: February 03, 2024, 02:47:23 AM
~
I remember the TV series 'Young Sheldon' which was a continuation of 'Big Bang Theory' when 6 year old Sheldon was looking for components for a nuclear reactor and federal agents came to him. My country has inexpensive electricity, but if you use it for mining, you face heavy fines.
It probably depends on where you live, I don't think it's illegal to mine bitcoin in the US and the Philippines so I don't believe it will be a problem, maybe if you're stealing power and not paying the electrical companies then you're in for a trouble and also it's not a nuclear hazard or biohazard to set up a mining rig so I don't think that they'll be able to slap you with a fine, maybe a tax will be imposed on you and a ton of paperwork would be on your work but a heavy fine is unlikely.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Binary Trade Better or Better to Buy and Hold Bitcoin? on: February 02, 2024, 09:52:48 AM
You said it yourself already, that you're having troubles understanding if you should binary trade or just hodl, I assume that you're talking about binary trading so here goes what I think you should do, I think that you should do hodling more than trading because it's far more easier for you to do hodling than trading since it's much more risk free than trading. At the end of the day, follow what you think you want to do because I feel like you asking this question, you really do want to do binary trade and that you only want us to support you, so do what you want to do OP and just do your due diligence of practicing trading and doing some research in binary trading if you chose to pursue that path.
435  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitcoin CPU on: February 02, 2024, 09:10:01 AM
Or for a lower cost "lottery chances" solo mining route you can use a USB stick miner from Sidehack or his higher THs pod miner the R909
Both require Kano's latest cgminer for the drivers running on a PC or Pi.

Minuscule chance of finding a block but it *does* happen.
Can I use it on a company computer? I don't think I'll be caught dead using it though and how low are these chance of finding a block though? I've having some thoughts about building a mining rig or at least saving up to have one but this seems like a viable option for starters.
436  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best ASIC for this power cost? on: February 02, 2024, 08:28:14 AM
an energy cost of $0.20 KW/h?
Damn, I'd kill for that energy cost, that's double of the cost here in my country. I guess there's a reason why we need to consider the reopening of the nuclear energy in the country because close to free energy is the best kind of energy, I can only imagine the cost when that's finally a thing in my country.
437  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Where to place my miners? on: February 02, 2024, 07:30:50 AM
The most important things for the longevity of your ASICs are:

- a controlled and anticipated air cycle, as antminers need a certain volume of air to work properly
- controlled air humidity
- the stability of your electrical installation, is it safe and stable?
+ an appropriate temperature in the room of course  Smiley

So, as per what you wrote in OP, you should be fine.

And of course, depending on the ASIC (not to mention the S17s...), you'll need to be lucky to not have a shitty unit
Is it a done deal for me when it comes to mining because I live in a tropical country and it's difficult for me to solve the air humidity problem, it's a tropical country after all. I'm fine with the ventilation and electrical systems since I know a guy that can help me with that.
438  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Waste Power on: February 02, 2024, 06:34:55 AM
If you can find a way to redirect your waste power and turn it into a reliable generator then you're a step ahead already when it comes to your power needs. Prove them that the waste power is efficient and that it can run for a month or so to the point that you've got residual electricity. I believe that's the only that you can convince them to invest on you, that your waste processing generator is effective and will be able to power mining rigs and the cooling and ventilation system without having any problems.
439  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Small Farm (50 S19's) Networking Guidance on: February 02, 2024, 05:59:13 AM
I have a few small farms across various locations. My network setup is very simple. At each location I have the following:

1 x Regular broadband internet connection + router.
1 x Basic Windows PC on same network, running RealVNC (remote desktop app) and BTCTool (Bitmain's free monitoring software)
1 x 48 port Ethernet switch

The miners and PC are connected into the ethernet switch, the network switch is connected into the broadband router.

For any remote config tasks, I simply remote desktop to the PC at the farm.

I'm now into my 4th year of mining across 4 locations, hosting 20 at the smallest and 58 at the largest. I've had no problems whatsoever with the above setup, other than some brief broadband outages (negligible).
Do you have a tutorial for this or how to set up one? I'm more interested on the networking side of things. Regarding power outages, are you able to resolve that problem without going directly to this places? Do you have a generator or something that can help with your power. Is it totally a remote location? Because that's going to be difficult for the Internet signal if it's totally remote right?
440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rigging in sports:My Personal Perspective and discussion finding sus. sports on: February 01, 2024, 09:25:03 AM
If we're talking about eSports too then you should've never forgotten about the infamous 322 scandal done by Solo, it's probably the most stupid that he's done because he's a really good player and a captain for some of the eSports team so the people notices it when there's something wrong with what he's doing and this end ups with an investigation that leads it to a betting site where he won around 322 USD for betting against his team, that's also became the term from then on for suspicious plays by other players. It's not really that strange that rigging in sports happens because it almost always, someone rich is betting on some team and that rich someone wants to make sure that they're not going to lose that much money and so they end up having some of their connections try to rig the game, basically the reason for rigging in sports is almost always greed, there's no way that someone wants to do that for the glory, it's almost always the money.
