Time travel has captured the public imagination for much of the past century, but little has been done to actually search for time travelers. Here, three implementations of Internet searches for time travelers are described, all seeking a prescient mention of information not previously available. The first search covered prescient content placed on the Internet, highlighted by a comprehensive search for specific terms in tweets on Twitter. The second search examined prescient inquiries submitted to a search engine, highlighted by a comprehensive search for specific search terms submitted to a popular astronomy web site. The third search involved a request for a direct Internet communication, either by email or tweet, pre-dating to the time of the inquiry. Given practical verifiability concerns, only time travelers from the future were investigated. No time travelers were discovered. Although these negative results do not disprove time travel, given the great reach of the Internet, this search is perhaps the most comprehensive to date.

Exactly what a time traveler would pen to cover their tracks, ergo they exist.

4702  Other / Off-topic / Re: Happy New Year (CST) or: I haven't lied or spread falsehoods since bet was made. on: January 03, 2014, 05:15:36 PM
Lol what?

Seriously! Some bitcoiners have referred to the bet as a bribe. At the onset, I received a handful of PMs/emails suggesting that I shouldn't post anything at all to secure the win. I opted to post my ass off, calculating ~900 posts. If any one of them contained a lie, I'm sure Josh would have brought it up then, not waiting until January 1, 2014, to start reading ALL my posts penned since November 8th.

I could see how people would see this as a bribe.

Thank you Goat  Wink

So has Inaba/BFL_Josh paid you yet for your refraining to post anything negative about BFL Huh

When do plan to visit Avalon or Hashfast Huh I imagine you get another 10BTC each from them too  Grin

Funny you bring it up. Luke and I are currently verifying the stats of the Baby Jet, well, mostly Luke is, while I pick my 5 remaining teeth using a Chinese dick as a toothpick, standing by, looking important.

Humor aside...

If you read the terms of the bet, you'll notice that BFL is not even mention, nor really implied, but perhaps slightly inferred, only because Josh of BFL penned it.

Here's the strange part. Once Josh penned it and PM'd me, shortly thereafter I read it only once and immediately agreed to the terms, never rereading what I agreed to until just prior to midnight, 2014, readying this thread for publication. It was then that I FULLY realized what I agreed to.

Like you, in my mind I thought it applied to BFL with other stringents measures thrown in good measures. Upon reading it for only the second time, I realized that Josh could possibly easily dissect a many of my ~900 posts, whereupon a war could have started.

But, I wouldn't know how all this would play out until I at least sent Josh a PM requesting payment. Guess what? ... Are you sitting down? ... He paid up.

I know how you feel about this being considered a bribe, so I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. But, I will state that I do fine with my barn wood business, and most, if not all the monies I've received via BFL to date have, and will continue to go toward to charitable and other causes that are Bitcoin related directly or indirectly.

Honestly, Unacceptable, I'm not a prick in any sense of the word, and we are basically on the same team, albeit I'll probably will be holding my tongue toward BFL until the day they pack up in the middle of the night, so to speak, but for the sake of Bitcoin, we're all hoping that such doesn't take place. That's not to say that I won't be watching their almost every move, and if I see something that ain't right I won't pen a message to some member I trust to pass along to the community speaking on my behalf but from them.

I told Josh in my reply via PM after receiving payment that I will also not pen ill words about HashTrade, "leaving it at that", of which after this post I won't, leaving it up to others to do their due diligence, for I penned more than enough on that issue.

In closing, I want to restate that Josh has paid me in full--10 BTC--for losing the bet. For what it's worth, one way or another those coins and more will go toward Bitcoin related entities to further the cause.

Peace.

He's not connected to it in any way, but it's only a matter of time before a celebrity (possibly Kanye, since he has the ambitious frame of mind for it) does actually do it.

I thought Kanye was behind it from what I first read via Google, hence expanding upon, and liking it.

No problem, for this act WILL open the door(s) for a celebrity(s) to jump on the bandwagon. Perhaps a ColbertCoin is already in the works: http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/425562/april-17-2013/bitcoin-plunge---adam-davidson.

In the news today: Justin Bieber Greeting Cards Now Available

Quote
Justin Bieber fans have been rewarded once again. True "Beliebers" can now pick up Justin Bieber greeting cards from Hallmark at Walmart stores nationwide.

The cards will also be available starting in May at Hallmark Gold Crown stores and other stores where Hallmark products are sold. The cards range in price from $2.57-$9.99, and range in size from 19-by-13-inch "Big Time" cards down to "Itty Bitty Greetings," which are perfect for slipping into lunchboxes, according to a news release.

Now, imagine if those same cards had bitcents in them, like gifts from "The Bieb".

this would be mighty great wouldn't it ^^ Grin

Imma let you finish, but BeyonceCoin is gonna have one of the smoothest launches of all time.

How do you like me now?

Yes, I can see it now. Tweens trading Zhu Zhu pets with each other for bitcoins. It's genius! Cheesy

You'll be surprised how much money tweens enjoy spending. For them, it's all disposable income. Another fact is my 10th grade nephew knows more about TOR then I do. I asked him how many students at his school know about and use TOR. His reply--Every one of them. Bitcoin is somewhat of an adjunct of that.

Remember, JB is just an example. Can you think of another known personality this would work for? Maybe some upcoming star?

YaCoinYeah stole over 50BTC from me today. He claimed he was buying via wire, but signed off and transferred out the bitcoins from the address I had sent them to.

He seems to be an admin with the phoenixst Escrow site.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

192.com Limited is a British company that publishes an online directory as well as information contained within the public domain for the UK, based in London.

Founded in 1997 by Alastair Crawford, 192.com Limited evolved from a CD-ROM product called UK Info Disk,[3] the best selling non-game CD-ROM product of its time. 192.com publishes the Edited Electoral Roll in electronic media, previously the roll had been available for consultation only in public libraries and town halls. The company offered an alternative to British Telecom's previous monopoly of telephone directory enquiries.[1]. There were a number of lawsuits related to this online challenge.

During the dotcom bubble in 2001[4] icd publishing was valued at £100 million.

The company provides online directory enquiries and competes with BT, Google Local, Yelp and the Yell Group (the holding company now known as hibu, as of 2012 [5] ) or the directory enquiry market. It is the market leader DQ for finding people.[6]

I think my GreenMiner slant was more entertaining.

Break your private keys into an M of N paper wallet. Put the pieces (however many you are comfortable with) in different physical locations. Relax knowing that the only way to access your coins requires obtaining a certain number of pieces from a certain number of different physical locations.

And since we're all friends here, heed the advice given and relax, starting with sharing with us the location of the M of N's so that you'll rest easy at night in your 8 X 10 knowing full well that in Amsterdam your previously owned precious is only being spent on the finest that that faire city has to offer.

Hope you enjoyed the humor, bud.

Seriously, relax.

I'll even put you more at ease.

Status, and how many are plannin' on attendin'? Bear in mind that it's goin' be frickin frigid come Tuesday night, thus it'll be prudent to not don a pink tutu.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm reaching out to Chicago Cabbie to see if he can attend being he lives not too far from Atlas Brewing Company, even if I have to pick him up (he turns the cab in at the end of his shift) and bring him home, even if I have to do such early, then return to the meetup.

Whether Chicago Cabbie is able to attend or not, all those in attendance will have the opportunity to see the custom hand-tooled leather wallet depicting the Flash Cab logo and bearing his moniker. In fact, I'll have some other examples of my brother-in-law's wares to give all those interested in a custom leather wallet, or some other custom leather product, a feel for the fine workmanship. Don't worry, I'm not a pushy salesperson, thus nobody will be obligated to purchase a damn thing--just a show-and-tell thingy.

One person interviewed said, "There's proof, and you can't deny proof." Another person goes into great detail explaining the mathematics of the structure, albeit he doesn't mention Bitcoin, probably to assure his place in the queue while he waits for his funds to transfer out of Mt Gox so that he can place his commercial-size order once pricing is announced.

Meanwhile, police are on site to guard against bitcoiner-wannabes from plugging into the CC-1, directing hash power toward some pool using their bitcoin wallet address as the receiving address.

Performance: GH/s

Power: 0 Watts (All Green)

Die Size: 1 Acre2

Price: TBD

Tap-out Date: Complete

Proof of GreenMiner's CC-1 is all over the internet, namely YouTube, albeit the engineers behind the world's largest bitcoin miner have yet to come forward. Rumor as it that they may move their field array to an undisclosed location to fend off prying eyes.

There's reason to believe that at least one CC-1 was briefly connected to a live pool, oppose to a testnet, with one pool operator stating, "Since I'm not in the business of disclosing private datas, I'll simply point out that there are no CC-1 miners mining on our pool."

Meanwhile, CES-goers are readying themselves to attend the 2014 show in Las Vegas, hopefully to meetup with those behind GreenMiner.
